Find number 14553 at 2:34:44pm on Sunday the 27 October 2024We're on our way to WA Goes Big, travelling from Croydon (Melbourne, Victoria) with a caravan in tow and making a leisurely caching holiday across the Nullarbor and back.Well, WA Goes Big is done for another year and we are on our way home again now, via Perth, Kalgoorlie and the Nullarbor but slowly over the next five weeks SmileToday, our last day in Berri we're on the go again checking out Barmera, Waikerie and surrounds whilst grabbing the odd cache along the way.A quick find and off we go again...**Thanks for placing this cache subyau**---*WOW, so much happening at home in Victoria*Dont forget to log your will attend for Victorias first ever Block Party in March 2025, the [**The Sunbury Event**](https://coord.info/GCAP417).Theres also all those lists of amazing geocaches at [Geocaching Victorias List webpage]( https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/information/great-caching-lists), go check them out.

The original plan was to head to the Argadells north of Port Augusta but the logistics simply didnt work out for us.So its Plan B, the Riverland So here we are, The 3 Stooges, WayneAPN (or as we call him That Numbers Guy), weredunn4 ( Mr Adventure) and myself are hitting the Riverland for some targeted high T caches, plus many many others along the way.Suffice to say, these are always great trips away with heaps of banter, dad jokes, tons of crap talk, but best of all, the camaraderieAll caches found and stamped. Any caches needing maintenance, we did our best to restore them to good health whether that be an additional log or new container. Thanks to all the COs for the caches we found this weekend, without you we dont have this game TFTC

The 3 Stooges are at it again. Out on the long weekend hunting caches. We wanted to head north for some high T caches that required a 4WD, but it didn't quite work out, so an alternative plan was hatched. The Riverland.Aimed for some High Terrain caches and caches that have been unloved for some time, years in fact, and with very few finders. Some were quite tricky to solve and took a bit of head scratching and a few other body parts.Plus, some others of interest along the way.Always great trips away with heaps of banter, dad jokes, tons of crap talk, but best of all, the camaraderie, and home made cake. All caches found and stamped. If some caches required maintenance, this was done. Thanks to all the COs for hiding and publishing these caches. Made for an adventurous weekendTFTC SL

Out exploring and had a lovely walk to this cache. Found an unwanted TB that had not been logged since 2021 . Going to bring him back to life, look out world! Tftc

26-Jul-24
Found during a caching trip to South Australia chasing challenge targets, specifically three of my last four required Jasmer months (well, more an Ausmer month as I already had an August 2001 find overseas). Was a long day out from our Adelaide accommodation but a lovely, late afternoon stroll along the lakes shoreline and the long drive back was well worth it to tick this one off my calendar.PS: Dropped a TB that was collected before I had a chance to log it's placement

05-Jul-24
We visit Swan Hill, Mildura, Renmark, Barossa Valley, Victor Harbour, Tailem Bend and the last night at Ballarat. Stopped for few caches on the way. We had a lot of fun travelling these roads and seeing the farms and wildlife along the way. We found a range of caches. Many thanks to the CO's for placing and maintaining these caches.

I targeted this cache as I needed it for my Ausmer.A nice area. I drove as far as I could into the camping area and walked the remaining 300m or so, avoiding any keep out signs.Saw something that matched the description but no cache. Expanded my search a little bit before I spotted it.It's now hidden in a way that matches the description - at the base of a bush under a rusty bit of steel. Just watch your fingers on the steel.SL TNLN TFTC

Now that the main reason for our journey was over and multiple caching trails were completed it was time to venture home. Our Mob had gone separate ways. Only three teams left now us, Rapidlywild and The Drovers. We made our slow journey back to Mildura where we were stopping for the night, caching all the way. Lovely weather couldn't have asked for better weather for this journey. Log stamped and we were on our way again. Thanks for keeping this older one alive subyau and thanks for a fun adventure Rapidlywild

Plans have been in place for a little while now about a convoy from the Canberra Mega to head over to SA and finish off what currently stands of the On Your Bike series. Today being day 5 of the trip away, todays convoy consisted of The Drovers, FurfacesLL and myself. So the target convoy caches have been completed and we all went our separate ways. The Drovers were heading in the same direction as us so we teamed up to collect some caches as we made our way back towards Mildura for the night. This one was a targeted find because of its hide date, its great to be able to fill another spot on the Ausmer grid Big GrinThanks for the cache placement and maintenance subyau and thanks FurfacesLL for another fun trip away

The Adelaide Leap Day Mega and Canberra Geobash gave me a great excuse for a road trip. This trip has shown me so many new and interesting places as Ive chased LGAs, oldies, challenges, interesting D/T combinations, rarer cache types and favourites.Meeting up with friends old and new along the way, we sometimes cached together and sometimes alone but always had a great time. Today we are heading across the border to Victoria but not before stopping in the Berri area to explore for a few hours. Some wonderful old caches here and a tricky fishing expedition in todays hot windy conditions. Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this cache and adding to our enjoyment.

Heading to Renmark from Gawler and we just had to detour for this oldie cache even if it is 38c ! Thanks.

Out around the area and stopped to find this old cache. Parked the car at the car park and walked to GZ. After a very long search, the cache was located, maybe there was some cache creep - not sure! TFTC

Muggle65 and l crashed in the car last night and woke up at daybreak. We started caching straight away. Ended up being a huge day with driving, paddling and more driving. It was totally dark when we finished and many were done by torchlight. Thank you for a very fun day

There is something about travelling to a Mega and putting together a small list of MUST DOs, a slightly larger list of great to do and a MASSIVE list of "wouldn't it be nice" caches. All that gets lost when you run around like a lunatic hoovering everything as you go while you can!!! GOTTA LOVE CACHING.

Continuing on with my South Australian caching tour and the mad collection of caches in the state. I am again part of the BOLD 7 team doing the mad assault on as many caches as we can. We tested out the MG yesterday and dirtied her up, she handled it well. Today it is to finish off the mayhem of the On your bike series and the few in the area as we pass. It may be a late night back as the plan is to also grab a cache or two on the way to Remark before heading back home. There is so much to do and in such close proximity, I am going to have to come back again. Just need to make sure we stop for food and fuel, must have happy campers for the travels. Am loving the area and the countryside, will have to come back at a different time and experience this state. Along the way we grabbed a few oldies, caches yes and a few that were just there for the fun, oh and the occasional multi, lol. Thanks for setting up these caches and maintaining them. All caches were signed as BOLD 7 and replaced as found. The generic log signing is to save log replacements.

Im currently on the great novo Leap Day road trip of 2024 which starts in the north east of VIC and heads to Mildura via Echuca and Swan Hill, then on into SA through the Riverland and Barossa before heading to Adelaide for [The Leap Day event](https://coord.info/GL1BKDZBZ), and then the Adelaide Hills and greater ADL area for some cache cherry-picking before heading south to Millicent via the Fleurieu Peninsula. This is probably the biggest geocaching road trip I have undertaken to date with around 200 finds planned! This slight detour north to Lake Bonney was a must do as we have just seven hidden dates left to find on our Jasmer and a find here would take that down to SIX. The signs up on the main road were a bit ominous which is well documented in previous logs but driving into the camping area on the other side; there are no such signs. So a nice stroll along the water's edge up to the cache area where the search began. Not going to lie; I struggled here for some time, maybe 20 mins, even referring to the hint and some previous logs. Hint/ previous image objects were found but just no cache - oh NO. One final sweep of the area before the walk of shame ...and I finally spotted it! Albeit just 3m off where the GPS was saying, but still not near where it prolly belongs. Looking at the log book, ie the page I signed and the previous three or four pages of the book (it's not a sheet) a number of recent names below are not in there which is disappointing... but I digress. It was such a relief for me to SL here and to dip our [novo Jasmer coin](https://coord.info/TB7AXHF), and to earn a valuable hidden date! Also a lovely spot to stop and enjoy the morning sun before this day turns into the scorcher which it is forecast to be. TFTC, subyau.#1765

Great to grab another old cache. As I'm a serial stalker of oldies in Qld, often hanging around nursing homes just so I can hear the line, 'I remember when . . .', I also do like finding old caches where ever I travel. My BOLD07 companions would be sick of me raising, ' . . . but there is an oldie just around the corner'. And again some of these were caches and not retirement homes. Went searching from the camp grounds, with the walk taking us around the water course. Saw many magnificant old gums, one of which I've attached to this log. Found the cache some 20+m from GZ. Relocated closer to the GZ coords for future finders. Thanks subyau et all for keeping this oldie on life support and not applying the VAD. A FP for the tally.

How very exciting the big trip has finally arrived! Down from Brisbane with a host of other geo friends with plans aplenty, enough to almost see us needing to extend or make a return visit. Our geonick for the trip is BOLD7 which is guaranteed to save the log paper for the 7 individual members of the team. As we make our way around sadly there wont be time for the usual individual logs and therefore just the old generic log will have to do. With little extra notes here and there if needed. Thank you for your cache which has added to my wonderful caching holiday.

Day 26. A last minute plan had been hatched to make my by way to QOGM. Very little planning had been done but a very rough outline was in place and it was going to be a day by day trip. After making it all the way to Broken Hill last night its time to snake my way across a few borders and back into Victoria.Area is now restricted and cache needs to be moved. There are suitable spots outside the restricted zone that are still within 161m. Thanks subyau for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.----------------------------------------------------------Are you planning a trip to Victoria? Day 3 of Chook and OzHockeyChick's "QOGM-consolation" roadtrip, targeting caches in three states over four days of fun, friendship, laughter and adventure. Today we were heading from Mildura to do a quick Riverland Run day trip before heading back to Vic for the night.Another golden oldie that was in our sights. Needed this date for our Jasmer/Ausmer challenge. A quick dash in to sign the logbook and then out again. Thank you for keeping this one going subyau.

With a huge portion of the Victorian caching community enjoying their pilgrimage north to Longreach, chook(nchunk) and I decided to plan our own little mini-adventure, targetting adlabs, solved puzzles, faves, TDOCs and anything else that piques our interest along the way. Day Three: Renmark, Berri, Sea Lake, Culgoa. As others have pointed out, this is now a conservation area. So we stayed to the (old and just visible) track as we quickly went in and found the cache before hightailing it out of there. Thanks for bringing us here by placing this cache, subyau ~~

We’ve driven out of the way to come and grab this one because of how old it is. Great to find an old one but the log was a bit damp. It is currently located on an aboriginal conservation area and you arguably need to trespass to get the cache. It might be worth considering relocating the cache off this sensitive area within allowable limits.TNLN TFTC

While travelling through the area we picked up a few caches along the way and this was one of them.

We parked at the eastern end and walked along the well formed gravel road to the cache.

This long weekend, I and J plus the little one visited riverland. We spent two and a half days, visited Nuriootpa, Barmera, Berri, Loxton, Renmark, SA/VIC border, Waikerie, Morgan, and nearby towns. On the trip, we found 54 caches on the way, including Traditional Cache, Puzzle Cache, Multi Cache, Wherigo Cache, Letterbox Hybrid Cache, and Lab Adventure caches.
This was the 45th find for the trip. I specifically selected this cache to try, due to the hidden month.
A bit walk lead to the cache. The container was broken, and log book is soaked. Still managed to sign. Maintenance is preferred.
Thanks for the old cache, subyau.

Always good to get a 2001 cache. Drove on to the beach thinking to drive to gz. Wasn't expecting the sand to be that soft, or that many people out either. Got to gz and stopped, the 4x4 went down in the sand. walk and get the cache. Lock hubs and 4 high to drive out.
Out with the Mogni for a short trip out to the riverland, only 3 days. It was hot first 2 days where 40 degrees and the last day was 33 degrees. Since the rules just changed about covid 19 testing before and after entering vic to no testing, we changed our plans on the way up and decided to go via Murray Sunset National Park. The idea was to find as many caches as we could that haven't been found recently most hadn't been found in 3 months. On day 1 we replaced 10 out of the first 12 caches, all broken container and 1 log book replaced, and by the end of the day had a heaped medium bin liner bag full of broken containers, the hot mallee sun doesn't do the plastic containers any good. Day 2 saw us caching around Loch Luna and lake Bonney which is way easier driving around here in the dry then in the rain like my last visit here. Onlt 1/2 a medium bin liners back of replaced containers today, people must fix the closer to the highway caches more often. On day 3 it was back in to the mallee country and home via Pinnaroo. Getting those " out of the way caches ". Plenty of dirt roads where driven down and many, many back sandy tracks taken. It was good to explore all the country areas and stay off the highway.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Early in 2021 I received an invite from GoosenEgg and Stainless Steel Rat to join them on a caching trip to the Mega in South Australia. As planning got underway some caches with high Favorite points, very old caches, and the On Your Bike Series were listed as "must-dos"

The trip ended up being 10 days of solid and very enjoyable caching with quite a few highlights. The find count for the trip was around the 950 mark when all GCA, Adventure Lab, and GC caches are included. The high point for finds was a day of 335 finds in the one day, which would have been more, but a sudden storm put the end to caching for the day. No one was interested in getting out of the car to find a cache in a downpour in the dark Smile

We were lucky enough to find Gawler Fort Knox, Dustin's Cache, and my favorite for the trip Barossa High (From 21st of January 2001 with the original log book still in place) all in the one day.

Unfortunately, the caching around the mega was beset by bad weather and the day we had put aside for Mount Gambier was scrapped due to a covid case in Mount Gambier on the previous day, so we avoided the area. We all enjoyed the Fishing series and just managed to get the remaining of these before the light failed for the day.

In the end I managed to completed my D/T grid for the first (and possibly the second time) which was my aim for the year, although some of the D/T combinations were not really achievable in Tasmania without a 3 day overnight bush walk.

Stoked to find another oldie. The area was fenced from the road so we walked along the shoreline is pitiful weather. We found the cache out in the open Surprised but tucker it away safely once we'd stamped it.
Thanks subyau

The Millicent Mega trip had been a long time in the making, for the Tassie trio of stainless steel rat, budgietas and gooseandegg, due to a couple of false starts thanks to COVID19. More and more caches were added to the extensive list as planning was being finalized. We focused on old caches, large caches, certain D/Ts, virtual caches, the On your Bike series and a few other special ones on our journey. Our route saw us caching in Adelaide for a few days before heading north via Gawler to the Barossa in preparation for the On your Bike series, whilst basing ourselves at a gorgeous cottage in Waikerie. We continued on to Renmark for a night before the long trek south to Millicent.
Some of the many highlights along the way were Gawler Fort Knox, Dustin’s Cache, Barossa High and Riverland (the oldest surviving geocache in South Australia).
At the Mega we caught up with a few of our caching friends, made some new ones, and of course missed many who could not make it this time. The weather was not the best in Millicent, and a COVID19 situation in Mt Gambier altered our plans but we had plenty of caches to keep us busy between showers, including tree climbs, plenty of adventure labs, and the entertaining Finding a Fish series - giving the new pole a good workout for the first time.
Thanks to all the CO’s who have placed and maintained all these caches that made our adventure so memorable.

It's incredible that so many old caches in such a small area so we just had a find them and get these historic caches under our belts as it were, stamped our names in the logbook.

Even with the numbers being down it was great to attend a Mega and at least get to meet some fellow cachers after so long and catch up with a few people, we flew over from Tassie on Thursday and after spending a few days in Adelaide we headed Northeast to clean up some series and then head South to Millicent for the start of the Mega long weekend.

This trip has changed so many times since it was first booked and I'm glad we got to do it at long last, to start with it was just myself and GooseandEgg nipping over for the Mega and then it was a few more days with the addition of 1 toolman, then with lockdown it was back to two of us but then another Tassie cacher in the shape of BudgieTas stepped up to the plate and we were back on for an over a week trip to grab a few caches before the Mega and then finish off with Millicent before flying home on the Tuesday.

Thanks for the cache.

Caching has fallen by the wayside with everything that has been going on, work, lockdowns, blah, blah...so we needed to get away for a bit of R&R after lockdown so headed to Loch Luna for the weekend to refresh and cache!. An epic day today with 30 fnds and 3 DNF's. A quick find, but seriously...Why is it cachers deem it appropriate to put Bottle caps in a cache!!!! removed 3 and binned! TFTC

I really enjoyed the drive around Lake Bonney, stopping off to take a few pictures and find a few caches.

This cache has been on my wish list for quite some time so it was great to finally convert it to a smiley.

A favourite point.

Thanks for the cache subyau.

Last full day of caching before we head home tomorrow.

fitzy_1965, the geo-kids & I decided to head over to Blanchetown to do the Riddler series, JLWE series and whatever else we could find in the area. Today was the hottest by far and, with no working air-con in the car, it made for a hard day of caching. I did manage to get to 10,000 finds so that was a nice highlight. Couldn't miss this old cache so detour off the highway to grab it.

All caches were found quickly and in good condition unless otherwise stated.

23,338. Found with minniek during our Post-Christmas escape to South Australia.

This trip to South Australia was on again off again due to the changing circumstances in the various states we had to travel through. Finally getting a green light from all 3 states we headed off early boxing day. Day 14 of our adventures took us around the Riddlers Roonka Rampage Challenge series, the Ode to June Long Weekend series, the Tour de France series, plus cherry picking some other caches along the way. All caches were found quickly and in good order unless otherwise stated. Next find of the day. A nice quick find at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache as found, and then headed off to the next one.

Thanks subyau !!

Fabulous to pick up this old one in SA. One of the targeted one for our trip. We found the right track and got close enough. Fabulous views.
On a road trip to South Australia now the border is open with Kittykatch, and barb2e. Second day of our trip and loving the beautiful green fields and cool day. Awesome day to be out.
