The development is here now. The power pole has gone and been replaced with a new one higher up the road. The fence and gate have gone. Vaughan's Road is blocked about 30m before GZ. All there is at GZ now is a cleared building plot (and a small puddle left by my geohound) and 10m away is the site office for these plots.
Lots of rain lately, I think something happened to the cache. Also didn't understand what the hint means.
there is ongoing construction where the capsule is, so most likely construction guys got rid of it
Our second visit to gz and no cache in sight so we replaced the cache with a pill bottle. We stopped to admire the great views before heading down to Long Bay.
Indeed, the development here is absolute madness! I'd love to hear the CO's reaction to what the area looked like 15 years ago when the cache was placed and now... I bet they'd be shocked! Trampled through the long grass at GZ, and made a nice, quick find. Thanks for the replacement cache capperz! I took a photo (or two) of the views TFTC Adnshe!
Super keen to collect some more caches and head out on a trip somewhere, I decided I'd bus up to Long Bay Regional Park and collect some of my unfound caches around the area this afternoon. It was a nice day for it - Not too hot, not too cold and ended up collecting exactly 20 geocaches over the course of nearly 6 hours on foot! No wonder I'm feeling absolutely finished right now, and especially because of some of the demanding terrain in the regional park. Thanks very much to all CO's who made this an enjoyable day for me

Out doing some geocaching to nite.
Found it after a little rummaging.
No biggie.
Thanks for the hide.

Eventually got here after trying to come from below
Interesting to see the development .

Original cache gone. Can see hidey hole where it should've been - berocca container would've fitted perfectly. Found replacement eclipse mints tin left by last person. Watch out for rusty wire at GZ. No stash and unfortunately my stash to leave wouldn't fit. Great views looking north to okura river and weiti river. Sad fences and earth works looking south
#5 for today, a little detour which turned into a bit longer one after trying to navigate the roads around here. Neither of us had found it before and neither of us could find it today, so after a very thorough search and noting the previous DNF capperz put in a replacement. Definitely a lot of development going on in the area, it must look very different now than when it did when this cache was originally placed...
Last cache of the afternoon and after trying to get here from below, and not fancying a battle across the fenced-off field and gorse, I headed the log way round by road. At GZ and the hinted item hosted no cache so added a replacement to help out, as per hint and time to head home. Nice views from up here were enjoyed, thanks.
A break from the office to get some exercise in the afternoon and a couple of target caches with attractive D/T ratings, yet would require some care to attempt to find. Both of these caches were located, and a couple of accompanying ones too so a successful trip. Teamed up with Lumin298 for the tougher ones as it's good to have a safety back-up in case.
In line with the NZ Geocache Reviewers guidance on what Covid Level 3, Part 1 looks like, geocaching IS permitted, but there are not to be any events or any new listings. It seems the NZ Covid website has failed to maintain pace with Lockdown level amendments and changes and is still lumping Geocaching in with Orienteering and other gathering type activities. Link from Facebook; https://www.facebook.com/NZGeocachingReviewers/ for further details.
Update - Level 3.2 due to be applied in Auckland region at 2359 09 Nov 21 will be allowing new listings to be published, still no Events though

Oh no! Since all the development, we can no longer get to the point on the map

This was one of those, "I'll go over there one day" caches. I was in the area quite often, but never drove down this road. Today, with my trusty second pair of eyes, we made a point to come down here to find the cache. TFTC.
glad we were here before the development, what a pity they will spoil this lovely view, tftc
Looked for this in November without any luck. GZ was very deep in kikuyu and there was rusty barbed wire. But kept an eye out in case somebody did find it.
Was surprised at Day_Hunter's log as he said it was an easy find but hard to get to as there was a lot of gorse, so went back up for another look. Parked right next to GZ without any difficulty. Still no sign of any gorse at GZ apart from a dead clump on a property at the other side of the road. He also did a very good job of not disturbing the kikuyu but seemingly forgot to sign the log.
So after removing a lot of kikuyu, GeohoundandI made the discovery. The cache was exactly where a previous cacher had put the replacement for the original. It was in excellent condition and the log was nice and dry although with Auckland's drought it should be.
Log signed, cache returned, and should now be a bit easier for the next person to find.

Very happy to finally find this cache. It did require getting our gloves on and pulling lots of the grass and rubbish out of the way we eventually found it very well buried underneath. It was a great day for finding this cache and the view was spectacular.
Easy to find but hard to get to had to walk through gorse but found it in the end
Spotted the hint instantly but the entire area is completely covered with a dense mat of kikuyu, so that combined with the rusty barbed wire and the rubbish underneath it meant we decided to give up.
Would really love to find this one, if it is still here.

There is lots of rubbish and a pile of dirt directly on the coordinates so this cache is probably buried.
Couldn't find this one. Really not sure if it would be there, had a check without success. The view is amazing though.
Arranged with TJAY & RAPTOR to have a quick afternoon of geocaching on a lovely Waitangi Day and rather naively I suggested meeting here in case there was a shortcut down to Long Bay. There was not, so after introductions and finding the cache (thanks to Lostcourse for replacing it) we backtracked somewhat and made our way down to Long Bay where we got to do some caching and enjoy some fine, Auckland style traffic on the approach to the park. To be fair, it was very well organised by council and parks were found no problem. Thanks for the cache, all good here.
Out for an afternoon adventure with Tuolei on a beautiful waitangi day we started the adventure here hoping that we could drop down into long bay but alas we could not nice easy fund for the first of the day.
Yeah that’s fine I’m just wondering if you wanna know that you are going to be home for dinner tomorrow and then I’ll go home for a while haha was a time for me haha is that good for dinner
Was sorta out this way today so detoured round here to grab this one, thanks Lostcourse. Nice quick find where it should be. TFTC
Out and about for a spot of cache detection today. Nice to be out and about on this cool but otherwise fine day. I parked up next to GZ and was immediately confronted with the new developments as GZ is right next to a site access point. I had a good look around GZ, which was easy to identify thanks to the hint, but I agree with Jard1037 in that this one is almost certainly missing. It looks like work has happen at GZ itself with a new vertical pipe added to the structure. As such, I took the liberty of placing a small pill container, on the side without the pipe, as a replacement container. I am not sure that this hide will last long term as the developments continue, but it will serve for the time being. Cheers for the smilie!
This should've been a quick PnG especially with that clue.....but I am positive it has gone
The grass is pretty over grown, could not find it around the mark. Could have been taken?
Great spot and the views were beautiful, especially as we got there around sunset. We were confused for a while due to the coordinates seeming like they were a bit over the fence line but the hint helped a lot!
Nice drive around the area before venturing forth to find the cache. It may not be here to much longer given the way the development is spreading from all directions. The view would have been stunning at one point in time. TFTC
What a mission.Hint helped heaps...Was ready to go but wife was determined and found it..haha..
Wow, this area is being developed fast! Such a shame as it's a beautiful area but needs must I guess. Thankfully a nice quick find here, the log was very wet, but being waterproof paper I was able to dry it off a little and sign it
Think we looked for this years ago-no probs today-man this area has changed & obviously the road is not coping!!!tftc
Thanks for bringing me up here Adnshe .
Was a bit out of the way , but I have finally got a smiley face here ! Great views to one side .....
Almost couldn't find this one !
The kikuyu grass is trying to swallow up the cache ! However I persevered and was rewarded !

Picking caches up this way today. Done most of the ones around and near Long Bay now. TFTC
Great view here today, even with the houses going in it will still be a great view! Cache found in the obvious spot off course, log paper quite wet but still signable.
Last day in New Zealand after spending 3 months in Auckland. I manage to have a free afternoon for a few more walks and to discover the north suburbs of the city. I am targetting a few caches missing in my month calendar and this is defining my day trip.
The view is often awesome and the city really nice with trees and parks everywhere. My only issue this afternoon is the heavy traffic and i spend a lot of time in the car...
All in all it was a great afternoon with again some good discoveries in this beautifull country.
Thanks a lot for this cache.
I was surprised by the log book as kiwicouple logged their visit in 2013 ! The logs dates here seem more logical.
All is in good condition.

We are a bit late to see the view from here Before the Developement, but did enjoy it all the same this afternoon. There sure is a lot of development going on below here, but GZ itself seems somewhat left out of it all. Found the cache after a bit of searching around the obvious place. Thanks.
Nice to have an objective while walking the dog and a reason to see how much further the development has spread. No pencil in the cache anymore so I took a photo. There was a Munzee game piece in the grass close to the cache, which temporarily confused me as I'd not heard of Munzees before. Wikipedia tells me "the Munzee game is similar to Geocaching but uses QR code technology in addition to a GPS device to prove the find instead of a logbook". Now I know...
Had a Trademe pick up out these ways. So a must do as over the road from driveway. Huge amount of development going on here.
Great one for kids who like to watch earthworks. Lots of big diggers here today - even tho its Saturday! TFTC
Great view. Log ruined, new paper pit in, but we did not have much on us. Needs a new log book
Needed some caches for the August Challenge!! A nice easyand quick find but log wet as lid/bung not in place correctly. Great view, pity it is being spoilt..... TFTC
A quick find while in the area, before meeting up with other cachers to do the Okura Bush/Weiti River trail. Nice view, TFTC!
Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.

TFTC. Found this one. Well out of sight, but good clue. Was able to look at the development and quickly find it one muggles gone.
Pity about the develpoment going on full steam in the distance but still fantastic views all the same

Quick and easy find on arrival to GZ. In the area after completing the Long Bay trail so decided to collect a couple of caches before heading home. Had to wait out a muggle runner before grabbing and then replacing the cache. TFTC!
Found eventually! Newbie sent me on a bit of a wild goose chase. Cache soon in hand and signed. Logbook a bit wet though..
Had taken the leave for mega-event which started today, and due to some reasons I won't be going so decided to make the most of the day collecting some caches in a area that I have not cached before.
Headed this way by myself and was greeted by an empty street and a quick find with a couple of horses nearby.

Nice quick find and great views out over the new development - admired some of the newer housing and wrinkled our noses at others. Thanks for the placement out in this pleasant little area, always enjoy a little detour. TFTC

Was working nearby, a nice easy drive by cache. I was a little concerned by the slowly creeping development across the way. More scars across the land.
As this one had not been found in 8 months, I thought it was probably gone. However, a nice easy find this afternoon. Cache all good. TFTC.
Swung past to grab this one with evilno9 on our way from grabbing a few finds in orewa then heading to long bay for a few more. Easy find, admired the view, signed the log and were on our way. TFTC
Very very windy out here today, great views though and a quick find. Seems we weren't the only people who thought we could just drive down to the beach from here... TFTC
Never been here before - enjoyed the view on this sunny autumn morning.
The log is soaked and cannot be used - found a old business card in the car, signed and put as temporary log in.

Found on day 2 of a 3 day Auckland cache raid with Kiwi Explorer. A more relaxing day all round in which we ONLY found 68 caches. Quite an out of the way spot at the moment. I have a former work colleague that lives near here. Log book damp as noted. TFTC, Biggles.
Found with Biggles while caching in the area. I really enjoy these sort of spots. TFTC
#786 On a bit of a journey today to collect family member from Orewa, take to the airport and then return home. So decided to cache on the way there. Nice to come down a road we've never explored before. Terrific views. Log was still quite damp. SL. TFTC.
Quick visit before camping down the road. Wet and windy at site so no views. TFTC
Sun and clouds made the views spectacular here today. Log book very damp on the point of disintergrating, Sorry didn't have an appropriate one with me today to replace. TFTC
Our second attempt to find this one and today we were lucky. Beautiful views from GZ. TFTC.
had a real good luck around the spot but came up blank, maybe next time. Great views from there though, will be interesting to see what it's like when/if things get developed - it wont be as green!
Quick find. Fantastic views of the gulf. Did the best we could at drying out a very damp log. Some maintenance may be required. TFTC.
Took a muggle friend out with me to find this one and introduce him to geocaching. I think he may be a convert. TFTC
Lovely clear day for doing this cache. Took a wee while to find. Emptied out water, log a bit damp - put in silica. Replaced up right, so hope this helps. TFTC
3.20pm. Not the best of views today with squally showers passing through but good to be out in the fresh air nevertheless. Some overly elaborate houses in this area! Cache well guarded by a grey and white horse in the paddock opposite. Found without difficulty.

Didn't manage to locate this one. Got busted by some friends who live next house along before I had time for a decent look. Will try again later.
