This was our last find of our trip to Sale, although we had picked up the clues earlier in the day when we did the cemetery cache. I'm not quite sure what the relevance or the relationship between WP1 and the cache location is but frankly my dear, ... .
A nice easy one at 15:30 to finish the day and our trip to Sale .
TNLNSL. Thanks RAWL.

Nice day of caching with Geo Father.
Would have to know the local area for the mean of "STUMPED".

Found at 5.45pm took a bit of driving then danzas local knowledge had it sussed! TNLN TFTC
We finally found the cache after a bit of driving around, lucky we weren't on our bikes.
Find # 605 @ 14:10 and the 6th for the day on the way home from Bairnsdale
Did the maths and headed off to gz. I parked the 4bee and caravan opposite gz and went in search of the stump and cache. Found both, but getting back across the road was another thing. Seems everybody was heading home after the Melbourne Cup weekend at the same time and took some time before there was a break in the proceedings to allow me to dart across the road.

M was a little hesitant to do this multi, but I managed to convince him it was OK. Took about 5 minutes to locate the clues to GZ. After a short drive we now know where the name comes from. Very Interesting! Located the Cache without too much fuss. TNLNSL. TFTC. KeMs
Rocky Glen Grommets made short work of this one - did the puzzle and then off to find the cache. Thanks for bringing us to this spot!
Final find on Father's Day - No 9. Local knowledge meant we knew where to locate but as already at cemetery, collected coords and drove straight to stump and located cache. TNLN SL TFTC
A quick one this arvo. A nice piece of interesting history that I've always wondered about. Will be interesting to see what they do if the urban encroachment keeps going.

Found this one today - another enjoyable and interesting walk through the Sale Cemetery to gain the required information. A few quick calculations and we were off to the gz. Found a good parking spot to the north and then 'ran the gauntlet' with traffic to find the cache. No swaps today but signed log and replaced as found. TFTH.

We found plenty of new houses, lovely drive, plenty of dead end roads but eventually realised where we should park for the latter part of the challenge.

This one nearly had Jimmymaff and I STUMPED, but local knowledge helped us. Left bouncy ball and took nothing. TFTC
Good one RAWL. I reckon if you were from out of town you might find yourself driving up a few deadends. I always wondered what that area had been used for. Howey and I took nothing and left a superball. Thanks for the hunt.

9th cache day 7 of our caching/holiday trip around Victoria.
A very windy and wild day but we still enjoyed visiting Sale and the informative series which acted as our travel guide.
Wasn't sure about the location and busy roads but found the cache ok

The younger members were unsure of walking through a cementry on the way to Mr Ellis. Fasciating walk through Gippslands history.
As for the stump.... found that too.
Thanks - 3rd for the day.

While on the first part of this cache, we took the opportunity of visiting a couple of friends - appropriate for today!
My driver today remembers being taught about the erosion caused after the quarrying - at school 50 years ago!

1347. Nice visit to the 'dead end' of town. Some more history would be good to link both together.
Having started with Henry Robert, I didn't expect to end up at where I first entered the town. Interesting story of the stump, must confess I hadn't noticed it before.
Grabbed the TB.
Thanks, Robmc.

This was the last one, completed in the dark, of a day of Geocaching in and around Sale. Had wondered for sometime about the background to this stump and surrounding landscape. Is there a connection between Henry Ellis and the stump? TNLN. TFTC RAWL.
Found at 5.20pm on the way home from a weekend course. I have passed this way thousands of times before and not stopped at all. I visited the grave the night before in the dark for a different perspective TNLN Thanks
Second cache find for the day, It certainly was an interesting stump and area, we started to walk towards it but soon realized the gps was pointing else where. Thanks to RAWL for the cache.
It was a beautiful day for caching. Having done a few other caches first we got to gz to see an item driven past several times without seeing it. At first we thought that was where the cache was but the gps said otherwise and the cache was soon to hand. Thanks RAWL
Found after a bit of a search. I thought that this was the landmark but thought the GPS was pointing different direction so i didn't go staight to it. Passed this place probably hundreds of times.

Great day after the rain cleared. We enjoyed the challenge and the drive.

We enjoyed completing this multi - our last cache find on this end of year trip to Gippsland for us. The cache was found with no trouble, and it was cool to see the stump and to learn of the associated history surrounding it. TNLN & SL 3:30pm. Thanks RAWL for the cache!
Found by Mary & David at 1100. Is Mr Ellis a relative? We were interested in the link to the RAAF Base at GZ. TNLN. Our thanks to RAWL.

Interesting in the dark and grass as tall as my offsider I nearly lost her.
Took dog whistle left tazo.
Did a few Port of Sale Caches tonight it made the night go quicker and I introduced a collegue to the game. She's rushing out to buy a GPS now. Will do some omore next time I have a quiet night.

During our touring today we noticed the feature at gz as we went past. and commented to ourselves that it was a wonder there was not a cache there. Then after collecting the information from wp1 we were pleasantly surprised to find that there was. After finding somewhere safe to park the car we headed off to gz for a nice easy find

10th today on our way back to morwell, amazing photo opportunity of a surreal stump, quite Dali esque. Cheers Rawl
Find # 1832 and 10th of the second day at about 1:50pm. Accompanied by Highrod,Sandar10 and GeoJessWoof on our long weekend to Moe and beyond. Just goes to show what erosion will do TNLN, Signed Log, Thanx RAWL....
738. Have told my kids many times about this object. It was always a pointer that we were nearing home. Had to dodge heaps of traffic but made the find quickly.
TFTC and a close look at this cherished landmark.

Found 14:25, the hardest part of this cache was finding a safe place to park at GZ.

I must admit, I have seen this stump over a large number of years and have always admired the "artwork" of it. TFTC RAWL
Came in to Sale today from the North so this became our first in the town. Picked up the actual cache later on our way out. Had a pretty good idea where we'd find this one and we were right. Left a wooden whistle and took a sharpener. Thanks indeed.
Actually we were a little dissapointed to find this cache because Robmc and myself had been researching the cemetary to place a cache this weekend and you beat us to it. Not your fault though. We'll just have to be quicker next time.
BTW we have a lot of information on some of the early residents which I'd be happy to pass on if you'd like to make this multi a bit longer.
Thanks again.

Cache 19 today and one of many enjoyable ones in Sale. I really liked the final hide in relation to its larger cousin. TNLN thanks RAWL.
Found at 11:30. My very 1st FTF, yippee!!! Although I was not keen on the idea of wandering around a cemetery and being disrespectful to the dearly departed so was able to work out the final location by utilising all the info in the cache notes. TNLN Thanks
