Spending the weekend on Moreton Island with Beardman75, Peppa, Now-Tomorrow and wayn0 running amuck and seeing what this beautiful island has to offer. Our last find on the island and it was a very tough climb up this dune. Was even harder the second and third time searching for my phone I dropped on the run down . Thankfully it was recovered and we could enjoy the sunset before getting the ferry home. Thanks for the cache chizhungiFind #6573
Davinells had a secret plan A weekend on Moreton Island in the still Chainsawless Pajero that required much consultation with the oracle that is Wayn0 With the promise of Glamping, the tides were read, charts & maps examined, and secret plans confirmed Coming across very early Saturday morning meant Venus was in alignment with Scorpio and we would experience all the joys of Moreton without having to float the car down the beach or at least thats what I heard but I wasnt party to all the secret planning, so Did I mention we got to Glamp!!!It was decided to leave this cache to last as we would have a couple of hours to kill before catching the last ferry home Please note, if one of your party decides to run down the dune, ensure that every electronic device is gaffer taped to their body otherwise you might spend an hour looked for said device just sayingThanks chizhungi Fave point for the fun we had hereAnd now Moreton is cached out we can leave content in the knowledge of a game well playedNB: The publication of the Ad Lab and bonus happened as we were in Moreton Bay, talk about timing Gunna need another secret plan
We are on a mission to Moreton Island to get Peppa a milestone with an apparently "secret" plan involving Davinells, wayn0, NTM, and myself. I'm not convinced of the wisdom of leaving this one till last. Thanks chizhungi and happy caching
The run down to the ferry nearly killed me. I'm not sure why the caches on this island have been hidden so far from the paths. They all seem to involve a far amount of bush bashing which isn't great for the environment and virtually impossible without shoes.
It's pretty great having hobbies that sometimes overlap and can be combined. With many weekend days volunteering with waterway clean-up, I got invited to the annual Moreton Island clean up for a long weekend. Well, of course I was keen. And given I have visited the island before, but only Tangalooma (along with possibly the vast majority of everyone who visits) I was keenly aware that the opportunity to find some of the geocaches as we trekked around. We're at the end of day one. I should be proud I was so patient to wait several hours before the geocaching itch was unbearable. Having spent the day on the eastern beach, collecting far too much rubbish off the sane, we're back at the ferry to see off the one-day volunteer group. With a few minutes where I wasn't needed, I pondered if I had the energy and time to make it 135 metres. Only one way to find out.Letting the others know I'll be back in a few minutes, I rush off, refusing to make people wait if I'm late. It quickly became apparent that up I needed to be up that sandy slope. Knowing it'd be a case of three steps forward for one slide back, I was happy to see a track up through the trees. Just a lot of roots to clamber over. The going was not fast. I powered up hard, then checked the app. I powered again until I needed a breath and checked the app. Repeat, repeat. And each time, I'd only made ten metres. But the contour lines are real close together here. But at least I could see the group below hadn't started to leave and the view was becoming more spectacular. At the top, it was just a quick bush bash towards GZ. I was rather frantic in my looking about, but of course found the geocache quickly. Ah, a handsome ammo box! And in good condition. At 14:35 I replaced as found, snapped another selfie and commenced my descent. It was rather more rapid, interrupted by pocketing a few discarded beer cans found along the way.How lovely to explore this island more, and volunteer with a group happy to tolerate my running off for some silly hidden container. I always enjoy finding geocaches such as this that have been geocaching longer than me! Thanks for this smiley, chizhungi
We had passed this cache each day during our weekend, but I had been saving this one until our final day knowing that we wouldn't be driving too far from the resort and ferry. We were going to relax on the beach, nearby to the wrecks, before heading off. Subsequently, this was our only physical cache find today, and we parked to then set off up the sandy slope. We were rewarded with a great view of the wrecks after finding the cache, and with the sun out, the bay looked tantalisingly blue! No issues with making the find, and the cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks chizhungi for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. It was nice to have found this oldie 09/2007 hidden cache, of which is one of Queensland's 1000 oldest yet active geocaches.Note that this geocache was logged with the *Team Warren* Davidwazza/[jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T) stamp. ---------- This trip, [jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T), baby Cottontail and I had a Moreton Island extended weekend staying at Tangalooma Resort. We took a northern island circuit on Friday visiting Cape Moreton Lighthouse, and then on Saturday was a driving expedition to the south visiting Mount Tempest, Kooringal, Rous Battery, and the Desert. On our final day on Sunday, we relaxed and enjoyed a couple of swims that included a stop at Tangalooma Wrecks. A family weekend adventure that we made the most of with the weather that we were dealt!Today, with most of the island explored during the last two days, we had a leisurely day at Tangalooma Resort and Tangalooma wrecks before catching the Micat ferry back to the mainland. The morning comprised of a pool swim and pelican feeding, and we then spent the island's remainder at the beach with the cabanna up, and a snorkel and swim around the Tangalooma wrecks.
While staying at Tangalooma I decided to do this cache. The hill nearly killed me but the view was amazing. Going back down was a lot easier. I took previous cachers advice and wore shoes.thankfully. TFTC!
Omg what a hike. Didn't take the warnings to wear shoes. That was a mistake. Tftc and the spiderwebs.
Don't be me, bring shoes
Log book is starting to be a bit fragile and chewed up. Maybe have a look at it.
Loved the walk through the brush. Great cash, thanks. TFTC

Will heed the advice to not go barefoot next time. Great little burner for the quads and calves. Found with dixie_gooner on 23/06
I was on Moreton island for the day with Marcussjd9 and we were having a bit of a tour of the island.
We hadn't read about this one, then next thing I knew, we were stood at the bottom of the hill.
I announced that it was 110m away and we set off (MJD9 barefoot.) As we climbed up my phone was pointing in all the wrong directions, but thankfully the distance was decreasing. We eventually whacked our way to GZ for an easy find.

Well, that's rubbing salt in the wounds. You get to the top and have to go down a bit more down on the other side. Then it's my fault. I leave my pen in my pack down on the beach. So I took a photo and went back to the cruise ship. Tftc
Fun climb. Twas a little hard to get the lid off the ammo tin due to rust but the log is in good shape. The main part of the tree has fallen over but GZ is still clear. TFTC.
A tough walk!! But worth it. Thanks for the loggers who advised me to wear shoes - definitely required! A favourite for me.
Found by Flukey71 who was more brave with the bush bashing! The rest of us were treading more carefully in case of wriggly sticks (are there any here?) But since I was carrier of the writing stick, we persisted and had cache in hand. Thanks, the views from the top of the sand hill are worth the climb! Now for a swim!
Found it! Included a bit of a bush bash so shows are a must (and preferably not thongs or slides, because this cache proved to me why slides are called slides). However, it was fun overall to clamber through the shrub and jump down the sand slide. Thanks!
We were here for the day as we stopped on our cruise on the Island Princess. We walked the beach to get to the wrecks and to get this cache. I crawled up the hill through the brush on all fours in many places. I searched many many many trees but had no luck. I did have a blast with the attempt and appreciate that this cache was placed. Found an easier way down. TFTC
Wow what a climb. Dragged the 4 yr old all the way. And what a view. Well worth the effort. Tftc!!
Number 11 for my Meandering Moreton weekend. What a view!!! Scales up the hill pretty well and bring shoes of some kind. The sand is hot!!!! I watched Micat come in and let the car loads of holiday makers off. Lid a bit tight but you can get it open.

Found on last day of Island life. Took TB will bring back to Victoria with me. A nice climb before heading back to get on the ferry back. TFTC
After not having visited Moreton Island during the first 60 plus years of my life this is the second time in 3 months. This time we have based ourselves at Tangalooma Resort for a few days of R&R. We needed our hit of overseas holidays which are few and far between lately.
We walked up the beach and had a swim near the wreck and then the rest of the group walked up to the sand cliff base and jumped in for another swim while I took on the climb. Only after making it 2/3 of the way up did i realise there was an easier approach.
After a little venture off into the bush the cache was located high and dry and still in reasonable condition.
Now for the return journey, the spaced out 20 something woman ahead of me managed to complete full body rolls all the way down to the beach. There must have been sand in every crevice of her body by the time she hit the bottom.
What a beautiful location. Now time for a beer or three and to crack open that bottle of bubbly back in the room.

It’s our last day on Moreton today and we’re spending time over near the wrecks before we catch the ferry home. I took advantage of a break in the weather and hiked up the hill. Not on the dunes (as you aren’t allowed on them) but through the brush. I’m so glad it’s not a hot summer’s day! Phew, that was a workout. The bush had recently been burnt which made the going easier, but I didn’t know what state the cache would be in. Surprisingly, the cache was okay, even the log was still intact - but it had been affected by water. I popped a new right in the rain log to have more chance of coping with island life. TFTC and thanks for the view on the way back from the cache
Couldn’t find the path. Question... do you climb up the large sandy hill to reach the cache?
Hot day slog, went a long way but worth it.

A group of us have been planning an assault on Moreton for quite some time now. But with one thing and another, followed by Covid, it just wasn’t happening. And then finally, we had a date set hard and fast!
So yesterday, the group of merry travellers boarded the barge and set off. Fangsoki, Pprime and Mr Herbz were the 4WDing chauffeurs for the weekend, while Crew153, Just A Trifle, and I were the cheerful passengers (to later be joined by Radnoski).
Now all the others had been to Moreton previously, so this was extra special for Crew153 and I, as it was our maiden Moreton voyage.
This morning we were to collect Radnoski from the barge, so, arriving with good time, Crew153 and I had time to head up here for this one. The plant life had something to say about that, attempting to tangle and snare Crew153 a number of times, drawing a number of lines of blood across the back of his left leg. But onwards and upwards we headed. At one point, Crew153 exclaimed it was only about 25 metres to the cache according to his GPS. To which I checked my phone which said we were about 33 metres from it. He told me he preferred to pay attention to his GPS, as it was closer. Sadly this was False Hope, as a few more metres and his soon agreed with my phone.
Finally we got to GZ however and made our find. Things inside were rather damp but we drained the water and added our names. Then it was time for descent as we heard the barge pull in, and were getting the “hurry up” phone call from the others as we were wanting to beat the tide down along the eastern beach.
Thanks for the cache chizhungi.

After leaving the North Point camping ground we had to call in and pick up Radnoski from the Micat. 1MinniMoo and I took the climb up the hill while the rest of the group waited for the barge to arrive.
We struggled up the hill and 1MinniMoo soon found the cache. We decided to take a more direct route back down the hill in time to join the others ready for the trip all the way down to Kooringal for lunch at the Gutter Bat.

Out for the day in Tangalooma with friends from the UK. We had walked along the beach to the wrecks and I took time away to do the climb. Its was pretty hot and hard on barefeet doing the climb! I zig zagged along and soon was at the GZ. A view of the barge below and swimmers around the wrecks. It was much quicker coming down, and a quick dip in the sea to cool off afterwards. TFTC
Over on Moreton and we had some time to kill before we could check in. Much to my muggle friends and husbands disgust, a cache had to be found so this one was targeted straight up. Nothing else for it...Up up up! My muggle mate came with me, now that’s true friendship, while the others stayed on the beach with a beer. Totally worth the puffing up the hill. The views were great and a cache was found! Thanks for placing and maintaining, TFTC!
Came to the island by jetski to have lunch, snorkel the wrecks, climb a sand dune and find a cache...achieved all...what a beautiful place! TFTC
Nice climb up the dune with a 3 year old and the gang. First find for my two mates. Well worth the climb. Find the easy track up and save a bit of bush bashing. Loved it
Thanks for the hide, quite a challenging climb, probably did not take the easiest route.
Quick and easy find. Nice climb with great views. Arrived here on the jet ski.
Dora the Explorer! and I had a day out on a jet ski as the weather was predicted to be calm.
We set off from Bribie Island and left the jet ski on the beach nearby. After grabbing the things we needed we looked at the GPS and saw that there was a large sand dune in front of us that needed to be climbed.
Not long after we started our climb we were at GZ and soon had the cache in hand.
It was a great view of the crystal clear water from the top of the hill.

Found on a break from school excursion. Thanks for hiding and to all the maintainers.
Super hard walk up and a bit of bush walking but we got it! Worth the run down
Found this one after a heavy rainstorm the night before--- so digging our toes into the damp sand made for easier climbing! The bushwhacking was just doable in our flip flops, and Sabine and I made the find. Hardly any swag, so we emptied our prize bag into the cache and signed the log. Thanks for a good climb and a great view!
Over at Moreton for my 50th. Waiting for the return ferry I couldnt leave without conquering this cache. Left the family on the beach and started the clumb about a quarter of the way up after slipping back twice as far as I stepped I started wondering if this was a good idea. Looked for a new strategy and moved to the side using the branches and roots to pull myself up. Heart pumping and calves cramping I was finally up the top. Took a couple of pics to remember the great view. A bit of bush bashing and found the cache. Log was completely soaked but managed to scribe our name into it. Left a glass ring. TFTC
Nice hike up, burning muscles by the time I got there. Cache is water logged, but still there.
No false hope. Got it!
We climbed this dune up last week and found only later that there's a cache. So we took our Jetski over for another ride.
The view is worth it.

Heart attack HILL !!!! 60 + degrees. Why! am I doing this, because! ..... I was told I could not do it, and secondly that there was a Geo-Cache involved up there at the top..
NO TB"S in ammo box.....
Five of us climbed this slippery slope, one step up then you slide back two. It took
me maybe 10 minutes to climb to the top. Then we had to find the hidden cache box. Of course
SpyFlyCacher, Hootyhootowl ran way ahead of the older Grandfather and daughter/mother of the two kids cachers.
It was a wonderful day and the wind was very low and even nonexistent on our return boat ride home. Another part of the wonderful day was snorkeling off the old ships from World War ll. Moreton Island was a strategic point during the war. Fish of all different sizes, colours, and shapes.
Great day for all. Thanks for bringing us here chizhung.
"FAV" for sure on this great view from the top and Cache

Thank you. Greetings from Czech Republic

This might look like a gorgeous place for a cache, but it was the hardest smilie I've ever earned! I took the wrong way up and in places it was more like vertical rock climbing than a hike, plus the hill was made of sand so it kept slipping out from under my feet making me do some pretty awkward 'running man' impersonations where there was some intense scrambling but no moving upwards! I past 100s of spiders and snakes , nearly broke my ankle after slipping and getting it caught in a tree root
Thanks for a fun cache! Visited while escorting students on a school camp. Great workout followed by a short stroll. We were a bit worried about encountering the local wildlife but no need for concern. Our GPS was not too accurate today - got stuck at 26m but soon spotted a likely spot and got lucky. Gorgeous view.
Hell of a climb for an unfit 50. Not advisable in bare foot. Enjoyed the walk down. Officially our furthest north and east cache. Thanks for the cache.
what a walk up that sand hill!!! view was so nice from the top. had my 5 year old with me and he made it up the top like a trooper.
anyone trying this Cache, take the track up right of the main sand hill. more footings to help you up.

Found while on a four day escape to the island. This one I didn't realised how steep the hill really is. And then I also realised that I should have taken some shoes with me. But still it was all in the fun of geocaching. And the cache was found, the log was signed and things were put back the way I found it.

I was on a cruise which was originally meant to pull in at Moololabah, but stopped here instead due to bad weather. Had a few hours on the island so decided to do one cache while I was here. Choose this one as it seemed pretty simple until I was about 100m from the cache and saw what I needed to do to find it. Up the sandhill I went, took awhile and was very tiring but made it for some incredible views. Thanks for the cache chizhungi.
Cache needs a little TLC.
Such a lovely site, challenging but doable.
Had four geo kids in tow. three gave up within 20 m of GZ cos they weren't wearing shoes... (hint)
TFTC SL TN Left a little something.
remember, equal or better your swaps and get this one back to it's former glory.

evangt and I sailed here on the Carnival Spirit 4 day from Sydney. Amazing view from this location at the bottom and from the top. Found the walk up easier than expected because when I first sighted the incline I thought am I really doing this. Thank you for bringing me here.
Out with minnie28 after making our way up from Sydney and the Carnival Spirit. After
leaving the tender we made our way up to the dune. What an awesome location. I am so glad you bought us here.

No spiders, no ants, no problem! Have passed by the cache on several visits to Moreton, but never had the inclination to climb. Thanks for the cache.
Was within 6m of it and could not get to it sorry to the maker but I have never been so angry at a cache no where did it say you needed shoes nor you will definitely be bitten my ants and spiders I lost count of how many spiders where on me and all of them where bigger then your palm sorry to The maker but with no path even visible and a crappy description I give this cache 0/5 don't not even bother
Mrs Gunnie and I were enjoying a comedy cruise on board the Pacific Dawn, the itinerary of which included a day at Moreton Island. You gotto love taking a cruise ship across the bay to Tangalooma...
In the company of Gib69 and our respective other halves, we strolled along the sand to the wrecks, where the two males continued toward GZ and the others enjoyed the water. We found a way up, but it was tough going and I suspect not the path of least pain. I suggested to Gib69 that we might be able to get up without breaking a sweat... ERR, WRONG...
It took us a little while to get to GZ, even though we were only 450m away when we split from our partners. That would be the result of our choice of approach..
On arrival at GZ though, the cache was a very easy find. The log was extracted and our names etched on the parchment. All done, the container was tucked back and we contemplated our descent... How about we take the direct route... If nothing else, we will get to the water for a dip quicker...
A nice spot for a cache and a good size container for a bush placement. Great work.
A favourite point from me for the placement and the view... [^]
Cheers Chizhungi.
