Unfortunately it appears to be no more. I had a bit of a poke around but the co-ords were never spot on when the trees were standing so were probably too accurate today. Will have to come up with a replacement some time soon. Watch this space...
Came back to search for this a second time. Two rows of trees have been felled and there are signs saying 'keep out'. The cache has likely been destroyed, and at any rate is inaccessable. We waved a fond farewell and headed home
Found the "stump" ok but that's all that's left, the front two rows of trees have been felled. The cache may well still be there but I wasn't in the mood to remove all the severed limbs and debris piled on top of where it is/was.
Might be worth a check.

Interesting little detour. I had TB CR-124 with me and thought this was a good place for it but it didn't fit in so its still in transit.TFTC (604)
Visiting friends in West Melton. Thanks for providing an objective for the early morning run.
I was just about to give up when I quickly looked in one more place.
I made a video once of people flying on bikes on the jumps here.
Cheers

[Doing a Waimak ride on the trailbikes, diverted here for a look.
Took a few minutes then ]realised the difference between a row of trees and a belt of trees and [found it all safe and sound.

Used all clues to try and find this one. Wonder if it is gone... Obviously someone had been here before us 'cos area well disturbed with special attention given to areas indicated in clues.
Unable to find. Found several likely areas, and some wonderful spots to put a cache, but no actual cache in sight.
Found with Navleader and Mrs Navleader (who grumbled a bit but was actually the one to find the cache!) Quite a few cars and other motorised toys making use of the field while we were there.

Did this one in partnership with Scoop81. Like a few before us we were on the verge of admitting defeat when Lenore found it in what really was the obvious spot. TNLN TFTC
Interesting location, no probs with the find. The day was warming up.

Don't know how many times we have been to this cache and then today spotted no problem - shouldn't be that hard should it?
Unlike the last couple of finders this cache proved to be a bit of a hunt. The reality is I should have trusted the GPS more, when I arrived I placed it in the clearing and proceeded with the hunt, 15min later I decided to check the GPS and it lead me to the exact spot TFTC. On a side note there are plenty of new coins in the Canty Coin Cache
Easy Find in the end as GPS was going well today and lead me to within meters of all the caches I looked for today.

Another visit after our abortive FTF attempt. Was in a quite different place this time (vagaries of satellites and a newer machine now) and kind of found it quite easily. Which was nice. The weather was certainly kinder. Nice spot for a drive in th eafternoon. TFTC, TNLN
Laptop had died so 'flew' blind on this one. Keep passing this on the way to and from ChCh. In no rush to get home so we made the detour. I quick little look and the cache was in hand. TFTC
Found pretty quickly. I recall taking off from this field about 15 years ago. TFTC Hatas
Stopped in on the way into Cass for the weekend. Nice quick stop before heading into the hills. Cheers Gav [2232]
Great area we hadn't visited before. Scuffled about for a fairly easy find. Nice hide!! TFTC
Not to hard to find the GPS was on track, on the way back form a cache up the road TFTC
Fun time scruffling around in the totally abundant pine needles, then - yes - found it! TFTC
This was a pretty quick find for us - our GPS seemed to be pointing us at the right tree, unlike some others have experienced. We didn't get to see any airplanes though sadly. TFTC

Found with my daughter after about 20 minutes of scratching around. Had no swaps, so just logged our find.

Managed to watch Biggles take off in his yellow bi-plane. Cache hunt took longer, as pine needles make for good cover.
Inner bag ripped, as is usual on these type containers with a smaller neck. Thanks for this placement.

Took the Grandkids out to experience caching, they had a great time and were so excited to find this one
Hmmmmm... Scrabbling around on hands and knees for about 15 minutes.... GPS took us straight to one tree and insisted that it was the one.. even when I walked right around it.... had a thorough search around it before Ciotach found it under the very next tree!!!
I woke early so shot out to nab a couple of caches before breakfast. This was my 16oo th find!
Took ages to locate the cache, but in the end it was at the base of the one I started at.

A quick find thanks, the tree felling hasn't gotten here yet but as Moneydork says, they are working their way towards it. Good to get this off the top of the closest to home list. Thanks.
A nice quick find this time.
May pay to check on the cache though as they're felling some of the trees further down the road.

Was just out here for a look the other day. Shame I didn't have my GPS with me then. However, we were out for a half days geocaching with pathdoc while he was visiting.
Had to stop for tree felling on the approach road. While waiting a plane came in to land directly above my head. Had to scramble round on all fours for a while doing a closer inspection when the obvious places were eliminated. Didn't take too long before I looked like a scarecrow twigs & needles everywhere. TNLN
Relatively quick find - without clue - there's not that many places it could be. There were some very pleasant smells - I think the caretaker might have been having a barby. A few suspicious looks at my car too. TNLN, TFTC.
Nice shady spot on a hot day.!! GPS took us straight to it, worked well even under the trees. Left monkey, took carabiner.
Stopped off here on our way into Chch with the hope of a quick find. Clearly not! 20mins later we were in the mood for giving up when J peeped her head in a little further and aaah there it was. Phew! Couldn't be defeated by a difficulty 2! LOL TNLN Cheers!
Well for a simple cache with a simple clue we didn't find the cache, don't know what went wrong
1754. We took quite a detour on the way home from our afternoon ride to get to this cache but thought we might as well while we were out and about. This was a relatively quiet spot after the places we had been today and it was also a relatively quick find.
We took the Old Salt TB along with us.
Thanks

Mountain biked in from McLeans Island Park, though found it a little disconcerting riding through the forest as the afternoon's gusty northwester arrived - one second no wind and no sound and then the next a b...dy great roar and I was nearly blown off my bike with tree bits raining down from above. + Old Salt TB. Thanks for the cache Ricewind3.
An easy and quick find. The airfield was very quiet with no site of any planes on the ground or in the air.

Fun find enjoyed the low flying planes,
Thanks.
(Apologies for the late log entry, got more than a little bit side tracked)

There is a certain cunning in the hiding of this cache that I really liked - you'll see what I mean. Always nice to get the FTF (at 3:15pm today) - now off to look for Moley. -TB BigglesBug + two British coins. Thanks and cheers from Grandalf(944)
Hey not to far behind the master,, He beat me by one hour, I had to have a good search to find it but thats what its all about ,got there in the end yay but just not quick enough,, Now I have seen where a bit of your time was spent training, nice wee spot,,cheers and thanks.
A FTF? Not this time. Found location, followed the clues,as pictures not available. Broadened the search but to no joy.
Oops, didn't upload the pictures in time! They are there now, but as I said they won't help locate the cache itself. I will try to come up with some better clues soon (this is a first attempt).
