Or I could just get a local cacher to remove it for me... thanks for the advice.

Maybe you should think about getting a local cacher to maintain your cache for you if you live a long way from it.

3367th total find at 17:00

We had to make sure we bagged a geocache today, especially as the date only comes around every four years.
We took a chance on the track after the recent rains here. Some of the puddles weren't too bad, but it is lucky the geomobile has 4WD capabilities.

Took: Nothing

Thanks Big Matt and Shell for the cache

4413 + 471 = 4884. A weekend run down to the Merimbula area with ACBC66 and AwesomeL...

Second find of the day and it was a very nice walk around this area - lots of other people around enjoying the scenery as well. Luckily no one anywhere near GZ. One of our favourites for the day - cache is in good condition - Thanks Big Matt and Shell !!

Found today by Mr & Mrs 1SR at 1015. Well the weather forecast was pretty spot on. They had been saying heavy rain today, we got up and it was a bit overcast and decided to windy for kayaking so what about a cache. Got to WP1 and a small shower blew through so we sheltered for awhile. Moved onto GZ and down came the rain. Thankfully a quick find. Walked back to the car, no point hurrying, we were already soaked to the bone.
Still a lovely place for a walk and enjoy the bird life.

How would have thought I'd be walking on a race track with kangaroos there and not even move away as I could have patted them, so close. There's abundant bird life here. Lovely walk 1st thing in the morning. TFTC

#345 found at 1005 on a caching day that saw 34 finds 3 DNF and 6 waymarks added to the talley. This day began at cooma and ended at bega.

12/34 for a great day out and about. Another great multi around what was a beautiful race course and now is just an overgrown area. This must hold a great number of birds from time to time as the area being a little swampy. The track is obviously used by walkers and runners as a place to exercise and the scenery and what the have done in the area made the visit very worthy of a favourite point.

Thanks Big Matt and Shell for a great little multi and and excellent place to cache.

Staying in Merimbula for a week so just had to have a go at this one. I found the clues last night but was late for another task and a Muggle arrived. So back this morning after some rain and a nice walk to the cache. Found it exposed and sitting on the post so after signing the log I placed it out of view:-) Great history here and I recall this track in operation as a kid. Picked up Geocoin which I will drop in central Melbourne so it can hitch a ride to the USA. TFTC SL Smile

A new day, a new direction. Heading south the explore the coast today. Greg took some convincing to do a multi today, as we had no luck yesterday. Sold it to him because of cache owner.
Clues answered, coords calculated, & cache in hand quickly. No inventory in cache.
1st for the day & 93rd for our week away.
Thanks Big Matt & Shell. Big Grin

The coin was found in the SIMPSON DESERT OF AUSTRALIA the cache was in bits.

Called back today and replaced the damaged container with a new one... The only downside is that I did not have any Geocaching stickers to place on the lid incase it is found by any muggles...

Thanks Morghar,

As we no longer live near this one that would be great of you can help out.

What a gret little park. No need to get you feet wet if you follow the paved path right around. Plenty of muggles on the path but none at GZ. Enjoyed the walk, the park and the history of the racecourse - it is a pity that the grandstand etc cannot be restored. Dropped of the racer tb. TFTC TNLN.

Great cache. Nice location, even in the rain. Take the gumboots!

29-Jun-11
Found this one after we had just finished working at a motel in Merimbula. We would never have known this place existed if it were not for geocaching. I think we took the right road but there was way too much water on the track for us today, this is when you wish you had the 4bee! Anyway found nice and easily especially with the hint. TFTC

Great to visit unknown places when we have been coming here for so long. The development of this area as a park/reserve is fantastic after the disrepaIr of so many years, while maintaining and highlighting the history.
Once again we were greatly amused by new geocacher Mick who took off this time without the GPS running in all directions.

Found our way to Wp1, however the long way it seemed. Gathered the required information whilst enjoying the nearby wetlands.
Glad we were in the 4wd today because there was more water than gravel. Quite fun really. Wink
Approaching GZ an counting down the meters and the cache was spotted from the car which made for a quick find.
Replaced a covered out of muggle sight.
Many thanks Big Matt & Shell for an enjoyable multi.

This is the 803rd find for WazzaAndWenches

Day five of our family holiday; We're in Merimbula for another couple of days then heading for a visit to Questacon in Canberra before returning to Echuca.

Last cache for the day as we toured around the coast near Merimbula on a wet and foggy day.

The track in to GZ looked more like a farm track than a road to a once busy venue.

Info gathered and cache soon found. Signed at 1800hrs.
A few TB's came along for the visit as well.

Thanks Big Matt and Shell.

We found this a really 'interesting' cache in more ways than one.

It was an overcast afternoon so I thought it would be a good time to do this one this afternoon. The team this afternoon consisted of Mr and Mrs Mitchell, the Tassie Devil and Baby Mitchell. We drove almost all the way to the information board, where we all piled out of the car. Mrs Mitchell quickly collected the clues while Mr Mitchell and the kids headed off down the concrete path. Only once I began following did I realise that our GPS had run out of batteries and that our chance of finding the cache was gone!

With the clue item in mind we followed the concrete path down to the racing track and headed towards the telegraph poles near the racing club. I remember attending the races here not so long ago, so was pretty astounded how 'old' and run down everything was looking. We walked briefly along the track before spotting a male and female kangaroo in the company of what was probably their now rather big baby, so we moved off the race course and towards teh racing club and stables.

It was just near here that the Tassie Devil decided he needed to do a wee, and it was while he was weeing into the grass by the side of the dirt road that he cried "I think I found the cache!" We were surprised to find it out in the open, but put it back where we found it. The cache box was a little damp so we dried it - the log was dry. We took a dinosaur and left two Scotland photographs. We also took the travel bug to take back with us to Scotland.

Thaks for the cache.

12th of 13 of our Merimbula trip. Finding the clues was very easy. The cache was very easy to find. The clue really helped. Very nice old racecourse and easy walk. Took TB in exchange for another TB. Thanks.Wink

King Jnr

We are staying nearby for a holiday and I thought I have a punt on this one - no problem with the clues and drove around to GZ narrowly avoiding what looked like some deep pot holes. GZ did not present any issue as it was sitting out in the open - I guess no one would notice it unless they were looking. On the race course I stood - awaiting for a horse two but none came.

Our thanks to Big Matt and Shell. In Turtle TB Out Turtle TB.

Found by Bob at 1525

I've been doing a lot of traveling over the last few days - and have tended to bypass multis, but this is the only cache in Pambula, which I'm rather fond of, and I wanted to get one from here. I was only slightly put off by the sign at the entrance to the gravel road that said it was not suitable for vehicles - and by the time I'd got to wp1, I wondered what they were talking about, as it seemed very nice indeed. Having got the info, I then had to decide which way to go and, after a bit of a false start, I was back in the car and finding out why the road wasn't suitable for vehicles (of the non-4wd variety, at least). Anyway, after a bit of fun, I was at the very interesting GZ, where I spotted a cache and a few kangaroos and took a few pictures. I thought the cache was in a rather odd spot and it crossed my mind to put it somewhere else where I thought it had come from - but I didn't and, now that I've read If's log, I'm glad I left it as I found it.

TNLN

Thanks Big Matt and Shell

21-Mar-10
Leaving the geomobile at the entry to the park I wandered along the pathways toward the first waypoint Smile
I hadn't realised how warm it had gotten during the morning and at midday the heat was almost like a Brisbane summers day, hot and muggy Razz
I plodded on.

It was a shame it was so warm as there were many other diversions along the way I would have liked to poke around, but the cache was calling Smile
No seabreezes today I noted as I stood at waypoint one in the blazing sunshine, sipping a fizzy cola and wiping the sweat from my brow Razz
With the final cache location a certainty, I laid my bets on the trail behind the gate being the way to the finish line Big Grin
In the home straight at last.

I passed the finishing post and noticing my mistake wandered back to it to find the cache Smile
The caching supplement in the Sunday paper had warned me to expect a wet cache and I had come prepared.
I tossed out the soggy bits of the logbook that hadn't been used and laid the signed pages out in the blazing sun to dry a bit.

After half an hour the insides of the box were free of moisture and I put the still dampish logbook back in its bag.
I left a new, dry logbook in a separate bag for those that follow Big Grin
The cache is in a new hiding spot at the same coordinates, but about 3 feet higher ( above the flood level ) Razz

TFTC and wander around an interesting olde place.

20-Mar-10
We read the sign 'Road not suitable for vehicles', and made the long walk in, althought the GeoDisco would have easily handled the track. The cache is absolutely saturated, with the logbook pages welded together, and all our supplies were about a kilometre away in the car. TNLN. Cache definitely needs some attention, as all items are wet, with no chance of drying out where it is. Interesting history in the area.

10-Mar-10
We enjoyed this multi. A nice straight forward 2 step multi cache. Drove to cache, that last puddle may be a little deep for cars, OK for everyone else. Cache was full of water & log book saturated. Signed on separate piece of paper & placed in log bag. This cache will need a bit of TLC.. A very nice area to visit with a lot of info around on info boards.

A nice step back into history. All the features of the racetrack are still there! Unfortunately the cache was soaking wet. I dried a bit but didn't have repair stuff with me. It needs a new logbook and some further drying!!

Found this one on a caching road trip around the South Coast. Found the information board easily and quickly solved the questions and had the final co-ordinates. There were quite a few muggles out walking but none that were a bother to us. Our biggest bother were the huge number of flies that wouldn't leave us alone! We followed the GPS straight to GZ and the cache was quickly found. TNLNSL TFTC

My field notes must have played tricks on me so only logging today.

This was a nice little multi- all the information required was gathered then a short drive brought us to GZ. I was concerned about some cars parked over the back so did things as quick as possible before we were on our way. TFTC!

Found by Team Ladava on our Cup Week Capers in Merimbula tour.
Another cache, another wonderful location
We really enjoyed this multi in the vicinity the historic Pambula Racecourse
I had a case of cache blindness on this one and the better half of Team Ladava made the find.
There were people planting trees in the distance and some more strolling the path but seemed well away from where we were searching so did not worry too much.
As we were logging the find one of the couples strolled up to us and asked what we were doing.
We introduced them to Geocaching and they were extremely interested and we are fairly certain they will join us in the sport.
We strolled back to the car with them and they told us of their retired life here and various activities including a leading role on the Management Committee of the Reserve and the volunteer work they do creating and maintaining it and their various other community work and interests.

Our thanks to Big Matt and Shell for the cache
Cheers

Absolutely loved this multi-cache. Had to go back to Merimbula Maccas to use free internet to convert cords into our system- then back again to find the GZ. Wouldn't have attempted this without 4wheel drive today due to very wet roads and massive puddles to have to drive through. Thought we may have been on the road to nowhere but were rewarded at GZ which we found easily with a little info from previous logs. Took Crusty Clown puzzle, left zoo animal. TFTC- great fun!

Nice walk out to the spot on a very peaceful morning. We only saw one other couple walking whilst on the way back to the car. We have visited the area many times, but never realised that this was here. The info on the dead heat was interesting. These do not occur very often. TNLN SL. Thanks for the cache.

25-Oct-08
This was a nice little multi! Certainly had some history in there. And with the fine weather, it was a pleasant walk.

22-Oct-08
On the Saturday before I did a walk around here with our young son while my reluctant caching partner did a spot of shopping in town. I think I had the better option. At the time i did not realise there was a cache here. When I did realise I was back again to find the booty. I even remembered most of the clues from the sign. So I almost had the final GZ worked out before I made the return trip.
Interesting place. I hope that original town planner got the sack for building the town on a flood plane in the first place.

Its good to see its being restored to its former naturieic glory.

Thanx for the find.

Enjoyed this multi, and reading the info at W/P1 - though we found it hard to decide which two of the four horses were the deat heat! We were able to drive the entire circuit although there were a couple of wet potholes to cross. The old race course looks very sad now - a far cry from its former days of glory. Thanks for bringing us to this interesting location.

A lovely stroll, you can't drive in here at the moment & they were working on the access track. Looks like you may be able to drive to WP1 again in the near future.
