Was collecting a nearby cache for JASMER and thought it might be too late - tidewise- for this but dropped down to the beach and there it is. Unfortunately, the tide is too high to go any further because it really is beautiful. TFTEC.
A quick find after the traditional nearby. Answers sent, but man, those rocks were slippery - this was as far as I was prepared to go.TFTC Knapaholic for keeping this cache going.
I finished doing my pest line at Shakespear so had time to do this earthcache on my way home. Answers sent to CO. Thanks
A Small Sea Cave #2 (Auckland) was transferred from TheWonderStuff to user KNAPAHOLIC
We are staying in the area and timed the tide so that we could walk down to this cave today. An interesting little area. Thanks for setting this up
I spent most of the day having a fantastic wander around Shakespear Regional Park, but I knew I wanted to visit here as well since it sounded like another cool place to visit. The rocks coming down were pretty slippery but no trouble because I had my hiking boots with me today The cave itself was cool and worth visiting, and it was interesting to have all the information on the cache page about how it formed, even if I didn't need to know any of it in order to formulate my answers and send them off to the CO.
Somehow forgot to bring my orange notebook today, so instead of my usual photo, here's me at GZ holding a trackable. You can also see the latest of my temporary tattoos. I seem to just keep being given them...
Thank you for placing this Earthcache to show me this spot - ending my caching day on a high note foreshore!

Out exploring the Whangaparoa peninsular and collecting some unfound caches as we went. We visited this cave some time ago, but for some reason forgot to log it so whilst back in the area we revisited the cave. The tide was in, but this did not stop us getting our feet wet and collecting the information we needed (which has been sent to the CO).
Thanks for bringing this small sea cave to our attention.

I was down in Auckland to pick up a car on Friday. Of course I took the opportunity to spend the weekend with my eldest son and his family. With it being the weekend to collect an earthcache this was todays target. We arrived at about low tide and made our way over to gz. At first we tried to keep our shoes dry and relatively clean but soon realised this was pointless. We studied both dead and live crabs and spotted little fish in the salty puddles.
The cave was quite neat. We did our measurements and I tried to get an echo in the cave but it wasn't very effective - probably due to the rough sides. Loved the smooth floor and roots in the ceiling. I also enjoyed reading the description and learning about air pressure causing damage. I'd always thought it was just wave damage.
We then explored further out towards the furthest point and dug some cockles which the kids enjoyed eating at home later. Thanks for the earthcache that brought us out on our adventure today

So today a crowd of 14 Team SEAC members encompassing 10 different caching names travelled north to the park and attempted all caches in the park. Logs were signed SEAC to save space. The weather today was perfect.

Headed up this way today after one of our group suggested (for the fourth attempt) to take a walk around the park....as we had camped up here a few times before, we jumped at the opportunity, plus it was an opportunity of catching up with the group after being locked down by Covid-19.....parked, and headed into the park.
Now out of the park collecting nearby caches....
The cache answers have been submitted to the CO, and another member of the group will submit a group photo.
Thanks for bring us to the tranquil location....

The Team SEAC group were hitting Shakespeare Regional Park. We had attempted this 3 times previous but were thwarted with COVID lockdowns and bad weather. NEITHER were an issue today as we were greeted with an amazing day and a LARGE proportion of the Team SEAC members turning out. The kids were in full force with B4Dawn diligently pushing B4Dawn VERY Mini cacher ALL the way around the park in a buggy type pram! All logs signed Team SEAC to save log Paper.

Team SEAC was out in force today with a mission to knock off the caches to be found in Shakespear Park at the end of Whangaparaoa. This had been on the cards for quite a while now but had always been thwarted by either COVID or bad weather. Today was our fourth attempt at getting the crew together and claiming this area. Having conquered the park, it was time for a few more.
Now for an Earth Cache, one of those caches that you don't do too many of due to their scarcity. We all arrived at GZ and started estimating the required distances using one of the team members as the unit of measurement. Then another of the team members pulled out their trusty measuring tape from their Goekit and we were able to get more accurate measurements. Then it was all together for a group photo to prove that we really had been there. This photo is posted on logs from other members of the group today.

My 2nd visit here as last visit I forgot to take a photo so as I was back in the area today with Nette1234 we stopped by as the tide was perfect for us to visit the cave. Answers have been sent.
Out again with Mum (SethRaven) gathering this months mountain and a challenge for Christchurch. Nice little spot down here. Cool cave. TFTC
Out on the North Shore with 2FLYTim, we are gathering finds for the next mountain and also working towards the Spelling Bee challenge in Chch . . . . . . takes a bit of planning but this is the third month of the Spelling Bee and so far so good.
I have not been to Whangaparaoa before so this was a nice little excursion today . . . . . apart from the car that was on fire on the main road on the way in and we had to be diverted around that.
A beautiful day and what a nice little spot you have bought us to. Thank you

Another lovely bit of the peninsula to explore, especially good at low tide with the wave cut platform and the little caves. Answers sent to CO.

Very late in logging this one, back then I was logging under the name of little rebel, but when we remembered the log in we changed it too LittleBlackbird1.With rustynz and muggle on a caching adventure on this awesome winters day. The tide is out, and the rocky step down from the steps is very slippery. Took a bit of a tumble, luckily not injured. Got to GZ and with the tape measure we were soon gathering the required information, which we have sent to the CO.Lovely area, thanks for the hide, and the Earthcache. Hope our answers meet requirements

Nice to come here and see this sea cave. I timed it well so that I could wander out here in bare feet (for the most part) nice little wander and I was surprised to find the cave here! The weather had the potential for being really nasty, but the rain held fire while I came here, not that it bothered anyone else... heaps of people on the beach getting shellfish of some sort. Fascinating info btw, and I was able to complete the required tasks quite easily. Cheers TWS for that.
I found this one with Sveinivar, who visits us from Norway for some days.
We are on our way home after a short trek in Shakespear park, and given Sveinivars interest in Earth caches, we had a stop here
All answers are properly discussed, and Sveinivar sent the answers.

This is my second day in New Zealand. The contrast from the less than favorable cache conditions in Bergen, Norway with minus 5C and snow to the conditions here in Auckland area is huge.
shendseth arranged a cache trip to the Shakespear park to show us the New Zealand nature and some caches. We logged som ECs (always a priority), one letterbox and some mysteries on our trip.
Thank you for making this vacation a bit more interesting with this cache

Out and about for a spot of cache detection on this overcast day. Having just found the nearby trad I found myself very close to this earth cache. Well, I am here anyway, might as well get to it. Used my body proportions to estimate the required measurements (answers sent). Also snapped the suggested picture, which I will upload. Cheers for the earth cache placement!
Happened to be in the area doing a few trads ...the nearest one was MIA .. ..So was very pleased to find your Earthcache ...and it wasn't likely to go missing !
Unfortunately I had no measuring equipment....not to be deterred ; I used some sticks...then took them home to measure them more accurately !
Thanks so much for your explanations about how all the caves are formed ....I love cache caches !

What an amazing spot! Took a photo to upload to social media later. TFTC! I love how geocaching takes you to places that you might not necessarily see otherwise. Holidaying from Wellington for the long weekend.
Was expecting something a little bigger. Almost slipped up a few times. Great for earthcache day.
Over 60 swans out on the water today. And a few snapper biscuits.

Had a great day out finding this interesting earth cache. Easy to find and measure. Never realised it took so long for these small caves to form. Thanks TheWonderStuff.
#512. I haven't been geocaching in a while so while I was staying at my sister's this weekend and not having a lot else to do I thought I'd get all the geocaches in Gulf Harbour. I nearly succeeded, but I did get a couple of DNFs! And one that I missed going for altogether for some reason... not sure why... but I did get in a 13km walk so I've done my exercise for the day!
I haven't done an Earthcache for a while so I was very happy to find this one. And it took me to a part of Gulf Harbour that I didn't know was here! Very very slippery on the rocks though... be careful!
Answers to the questions and photos have been sent to the CO. And I must say I'm surprised how long it's been since this one has been found, given heaps of other ones in the area have been found several times this year!
Thank you very much for the cache!

This turned out to be a busy place with 4 cachers here at the same time on Xmas Day! Two from the Isle of Man and two from Poland. Chermione has sent the answers to the CO. Thanks for bringing us here.
The idea for today was to have a first look for New Zealand beaches and natural treasures in the forests near the sea shores north from Auckland. It was the most exciting Christmas Day in our live. And different then usually. We could rest at clean, natural and in many areas untouched environment. Firstly we noticed ferns everywhere, not only these famous silver ferns but also unique pongas - they are amazing. We have seen them once - in Europe, Portugal - which is probably the only place with them on the northern hemisphere. But they are not so impressive as the ones here. We are really glad to have a chance to see them
We noticed also that the AOTEAROA is really appropriate name for this country when long white clouds always attract the sky
Extensive volcano activities also made a significant impact on this area layout.
At the end of the day we met with other geocachers who came for holidays from southern island. It was nice to talk and spend som time with them.
The last but not least is that we could see all above on relatively small area having fun of celebrating in very unique way Christmas Day.
Fortunately the EC location was still accessible when we were there
Thank you for this lesson and greetings from Krakow, Poland!

Driving back from Shakespear park then saw this cache. Did not know tide times but we were lucky. Met cachers from Poland at the nearby cache and had a good chat. Lovely cave and shells. Very peaceful and lots of black swans in the sea. Fav point for taking us here.
The Christmas day was the first day of caching in New Zealand for me and Lady Murazor. After over 50 hours of traveling we reached Auckland yesterday on the Christmas Eve, but we were too tired to even look for a cache. So we started today. The hunt was mainly after rarer types of geocaches like letterboxes or Earth Caches but a few of traditional ones were also scored. And along the way there was many possibilities to admire the unique nature of New Zealand.
After a DNF on a nearby traditional cache I was glad it is hardly possible to have a DNF on an EarthCache (but I once scored one!).
Thank you for this cache and greetings from Kraków, Poland!

Stepped into this place very surprisingly and was not prepared properly.
But the tide was ideal and so we enjoyed the place and the surrounding. Got my first moskito bite in NZ as well...
With me we're readheadd! Forgot to tell at the Email with the answers. Though I t is her second cache in NZ .
Thanks for showing this place we would never have seen without GC.

Having a walk around wider gulf harbour area, and found this lovely small cave. Tide just on its way out, but had to take boots off so they didn't get wet. Also found the nearby "trademans entrance" cache before I continued on my way. TFTC
Determined to find this cache and one nearby. Missed the first cache and decided to go the long way around for the sea cave. Tide was out at 5pm so all was well. TFTC
Today Ninalila and I have one goal, learn about the area so we go for some earthcaches.
We didn't know the time for the'low tide but we arrive at a perfect moment, 40 minutes before the lowest.
We tried to access to the cave but it was really muddy, we could clean our feet with the small waterfall not far from the cave before going back to the beach.
Unlucky me, i walk at the wrong place but nothing bad, just pain haha

Fefe.adrien and I totally forgot to check the tide but hopefully we arrived just in time .
Between two showers we tried to reach the cave via the beach. So muddy and sticky, we laughed a lot about our funny adventure.
Despite the title we did not expect a so tiny sea cave ! Ahah
Thanks for the discovery !

Up here delivering the Western Springs College team to the Lactic Turkey Sustainability Challenge, so had a few hours to kill while they rogained. After doing Budokan's Little Corner of the World, I had time for another, and when I saw this, I thought "Oh no! 1km away - I was just there". But double-checking on the actual location showed it to be the other side of the peninsula, so off I trotted. Easily found and completed, though I did find some very muddy bits in the bay as I took a more direct route back. Glad I had my tramping boots on, and not just trainers. Thanks for the earthcache.
A great spot that's not on the tourist brochures. It was a careful descent to the cave as the rocks were very slippery after a wet day and night. Today is a fabulously sunny day, but will it last? It didn't, then it did, then . . . . . . you never get bored with the same old weather at NZ. We thought about going into the cave for the measurements but decided to not push our luck on the wet rocks. TFTC TheWonderStuff.
Out in the area today collecting some caches to help with our Geo-Licence challenge requirements, and this EarthCache was just one of these caches. A lovely little spot and a neat little feature on this little beach. Answers have been submitted to the CO. Thanks for the EarthCache!
Todays caching day was supposed to be all about 4WD along Muriwai Beach and grabbing those letterbox hybrid caches along the beach. The weather was favourable, tide timew was good as well and the geomobile full of fuel. Only problem, no company. My intended travellers pulled out one by one leaving me alone and, sniff, sad.
Nothing for it but to call off that mission and come over to Silverdale to grab a few easy caches to push the numbers along. There are absolutely loads here and in a new area that's always a winner. It also means I can park in one place, walk a loop grabbing 4 or 5 or 6 the go and move the car again to tyhe centre of the next cluster. Managed over 30 today which although not massive numbers was a nice gentle trip and back here at a decent time with time to log them and do all the humdrum extras before work again tomorrow.
Moved the car up to nearby and walked another loop of 6 caches.
It would only be rtight that todays Earth cache would be one of yours I guess. Caught the tide at it's lowest ebb, excuse the pun, and got the details for this cache. Answers and image to follow shortly.

Popped round here after doing the nearby trad as the tide was low. Lots of rock oysters exposed, as well as some rather slippery rock. I nearly took a tumble just before getting back to shore after doing this cache. Cheers Gav [8182]
