Checked the area after the recent flooding and decided it is no longer suitable to replace.
With the lockdown I had completely forgotten this needed checking. Ill try get there this week
Looked high and low but couldn’t find today.. looks like there may have been lots of water pass through here lately
Looked under gaps under a few rocks...
Not for me today.
Shame...as heading homewards.
At least I didn't fall in river with my scrambling!

This road was surprisingly busy. We found the date easily but then had trouble finding the cache. We re-read the clue and then found it pretty quickly. TFTC
Out for the aftenoon to look for a few caches to pass the 400 mark. Second on the list was this one.
Took quite a while to locate the 1969, but I guess it's been there for nearly 50 years, so definitely not a fresh sign. Once it was located, it was only a short time before the new cache was in hand.
I've never been this far up Awaroa River Rd andf there are numerous security camera notices, so it felt a bit awkward poking around on the bridge whilst local traffic passed by.

I have replaced the whole cache for you and I have the log scroll from 2011 if you would like it. Or a pic you may want. Perform maintainence please to remove Red Cross.
#11073. Bit of a bonus cache as we came up this road thinking we could get to Mt Tiger Rd. TFTC.
Target for today was the Whangarei Heads, so we decided to go there via Mt Tiger Rd and return via Whangarei Heads Rd, which would increase the caching opportunities . Didn't all go to plan as we had to drive past some caches where parking was tricky.
Our GPSr took us across the bridge and to the opposite side of the road to where we eventually found the cache (thank goodness for the hint!). A bit tricky retrieving, with the steep drop below. The container was covered by something sticky (resin?) so needed the wet wipes when we got back to the car.
According to the online maps, this road joined up with Mt Tiger road, but a little further on, it seemed to turn into a private road, with a "Council maintenance ends here" sign so we turned back to find an alternative route. Thanks for the first cache find of the day.

A big day of caching, a 1 day Northland adventure to tick off a few more on our NZ Jasmar Challenge.
Took a little bit to find, container was covered in ants, retrieved a few of the TB's to move south

Could the owner please change the "hidden date" of this cache to the actual date?
It is showing up on my searches for older caches in the North Island, but it is NOT a 2001 cache.
This cache was published 1 November 2007. Obviously it was placed in October 2007.
Using a false "hidden date" of September 2001 has cruelly misled a lot of people - just read those logs with people pleased that they have been able fill in a 'hidden month' or found an older cache for a challenge.
Clearly the CO is trying to maintain a link with the previous cache in the same place. That is understandable but, sadly, once an older cache has been archived it can't be replaced. Using the false hidden date does not make this an older cache; it just makes life awkward for other geocachers!

On our way from Auckland to Bay of Islands this old cache was not too far from the route. So I gave it a try. Found the container after short search. Given the age of the cache it was in excellent shape. Left a few trackables which I brought from Germany.

Together with Silli1310 I have been on the road for almost half a year now and have been travelling in beautiful New Zealand for almost 2 months. We started on the South Island and meanwhile we arrived in the North Island and drive north to Cap Reinga. Today morning we started near Ruakaka and followed the route SH1 till Whangarei, where we made a longer stop for visiting the famouse "Hunderwasser" House and to get an tasty ice-cream. In order not only to sit in the car we use the possibility to search a cache every now and then and to stretch our legs a little. To due the detailed cache description we were found the cache quite easy. Thanks a lot for the cache. (Sorry for the very late log)
Today was our first day in Whangarei, and finding this old cache was a "must", before we continued our travel in New Zealand. Pia had noticed, that it was published march 8th in 2001, and we didn`t have that year/month in our "cache-collection".
We had to search for a while, before we found "1969". After that it was no problem to locate the cache, and we could sign the logbook.
Thanks for maintaining this old cache.

I'm back up in Whangarei for Xmas and I went for a bit of a drive around today picking up a few caches. After a quick hunt around, I soon had the cache in hand here. TFTC!
TFTC. A nice peaceful site. No trolls and only a couple of passing muggle cars to see me taking photos of the creek.
Out and about in Whangarei grabbing some caches for the day. This one was on our radar, as we need some of the older hides for our full endorsement challenges towards GIO licence. Happy to report that this hide is still safe and sound, despite the lid being missing. Many thanks for the hide!
Found the spot where the cache clearly was supposed to be hidden from the clue, but sadly nothing was there. I checked the log entries and found the cache under the bridge as described. The cache is still missing its lid and so I left it under shelter instead of returning it to its proper spot. The travel bug, which was my goal in coming to this cache, is clearly missing (as mentioned in previous logs). Hopefully, it will turn up soon. I did have a descent look around to see if it had maybe just been dropped.
Cache found but no lid present. No trackable found either . I hope it turns up soon for the owner.
Decided to do a bit of a day tour of Northland and grab some easy drive-bys in the process. Cache was on the ground under the bridge with no lid. Replaced up and under the bridge on a ledge, but not really sure where it should have been. CO should probably check it out. Thanks.
Found with renelm and Difool, logged as RAD to save log space, time and trees.
I am not much of a logwriter, so see renelms, and possibly Difools, log for details.

This was on the list from before we came down here, as it's one of the oldest caches around.. at GZ the cache was quickly found (after looking in the right direction ) - the lid is missing, but the contents are OK.
Found at 11:51 - #4230 - together with aedk and Difool - logged as RAD to save space and time

Don't know why I didn't find it the last time I looked. Friendly farmer found us!
Was keen to get my name on the logsheet given the age of the cache and happy to have it smiling back at me. TFTC
Yay - nice to have a bigger cache so I can drop off a TB - what a lovely little road up this valley so handy to town too - TFTC and for bringing me up it
No luck here today. Some likely spots but no reward. Lots of food debris around the area too.
I guess I was expecting the item referred to in the clue to be more obvious. I spent a few minutes searching before I saw it and then soon laid my hands on the treasure. This was very peaceful location at the time of my visit. TFTC.
It survived the flood!!!!
Water marks and debries well above the cache spot but cache was fine and totally dry inside.
Replaced the logbook as has been wet in the past and was no good anymore.

Thanks, Robmc.

Found the cache and then found the date.
The logbook may have been a bit wet but then again I could say that in most of my cache logs I guess.

Nice little find thanks. Couldn"t sign log as extremely wet as has been left outside of cache. Have placed back in container and sorry not a thing on me to replace paper with.
Yay! Our very first geocache find Had to travel back and forth a few times before we found the 1969, but we got there in the end. My little one was so excited to find the cache. Took a tiger travel bug and left a small truck.
Found with no problems, some people were excitingly catching eels 100m downstream but didn't see us.TNLN.SL.
Nice hiding spot, thought the number would be around that area, but not exactly where it was, Left a red dice die. took Sean - What am I? travel bug

Didn't take long before we had the cache in hand, but on the way back to the car we had to watch out for boy racers along the straight stretch of road. T4TC
Lovely little spot! Found with no problem. A few muggles working in the field but they took no notice. Took "Rangy". Left dinosaur. Will find a cool new abode for Rangy! TFTC
Didn’t spot the number referred to in the cache description so went about like a troll looking for the cache. Finally spotted by geo-jr who went exploring closer to GZ. Only afterwards did we spot the numbers. Neat hide. Many thanks Grobyc.
Wow - brings back memories. Did the original a few years back. Cheers Gav [3648]
I found this one last time that I came to town, but don't seem to have logged it.
1.50pm. Took a while because there was so much leaf fall around which covered everything. Left two T.B.s.
Thank you. David and Noeline.

Stopped to do this one and pooked decided to change his wiper blades on his car. Good spot in the middle of nowhere for this cache and to change wiper blades lol.
We found it without any problems.
No animals at the time besides somes curious cows.

This cache took me on a lovely walk to a place I certainly wouldn't have gone otherwise. Easy find, clues are spot-on. The most animals I encountered were sandflies trying to eat me as I signed the log.
In: Fish toy (go animals!)
Out: Parachutist toy

Quick driveby on our way back to the Little Earth Lodge. In the fading sunlight, Rumo had some problems finding the number, but Rala helped him out. Then we headed on along the road that our GPSr suggested would bring us directly to our backpacker. We ended in a cul de sac and had to turn around. Lesson learned: don't rely on technology too much.

Second one of the day after enjoying 'Cats' the night before. Took the opportunity to do a quick driving lesson as ell. left the Jeep TB. TFTC.
3.05pm. Never been along this road before but exploring the nooks and crannies of Whangarei. Guessed what the numerals in the hint would mean and Mrs F. withever an alert and watchful eye found the cache soon after.
