It's always nice to add a few different cache types to the day. I also need some letterbox caches for my current GIO licence. With such a narrow drive down to this one you wouldn't want to meet another car on the way. A nice little bush walk and an easy find, thanks
Team G0LD ( Lis's Crew, DaffyNZ and 0B80B8 ) on a mission again with two main objectives today. The first was to locate all the Smile series caches that we had worked on solving over the last couple of months and the second was to find enough other high FP caches to get the required 500 points for the caching carnival souvenirs. With almost no local caches available for us, a trip south to Auckland was going to be the only way to achieve our goal.
Due to other commitments, Sat 6th was going to be the only day all three of us could make it and we hoped the weather would be kind, as it was for us on our last adventure. Unfortunately, not this time though, as despite the forecast being for mostly dry, with the possibility of a shower, we ended up caching in near constant rain till it cleared later in the afternoon.
Early on in the day, this different cache type beckoned, as I needed a few more letterboxes for a challenge. So a quick detour down a very narrow access way, followed by a short walk in the bush and this one was successfully ticked off. TFTC

Quick and easy find cache has had a fair amount of water leak into it so stampbook is a bit wet.

Visiting my son for the weekend, and I dragged him along to a 'get as many as possible today' outing... We had great fun and fitted in a walk as well as some driving. Nice day to be out and about!
Glad to finally find this one - it has been on my list for some time. TFTC!!

Out with my nephew finding a few caches on this glorious day. Continued to this one from the previous cache making our way along the different trails. The track just before the cache was a little muddy, but nothing we couldn't handle. Arrived at GZ and quickly found the cache.
Today was a lovely winters day, so after a hearty cooked breakfast we decided to head out for some caching on the shore. Miss NZT joined us for part of the day for a rare full compliment of the NZTravellers team! Had an enjoyable day, accompanied by HelloBird1e. Many thanks to all the cache owners for their great hides!
MrNZT had to solo this one in the last few meters due to the poor path at the end. After rummaging around a bit, he finally made the find in the obvious(?) place TFTC!

#527. That was an unexpected place to find the entrance to a reserve! A small little driveway off Dairy Flat Highway. There was only one other car in the carpark when I pulled up. I disappeared into the bush to find the cache and it was quite easy going until about 30m from GZ where the path got a bit dicey and I got a bit muddy. But no injuries or anything occurred and I managed to find the cache very quickly in the obvious spot. Then I spotted the occupants of the other car trying to navigate the dicey bit of path. They didn't look like geocachers though, they looked like a couple out of a romantic walk.
My suggestion would be to increase the terrain rating slightly in this cache, because it's a bit overgrown and I wouldn't want to take small children on the section of path 30m from GZ - it would be a bit dangerous in my opinion.
Today my mission was to get the two letterbox caches on the north shore that I didn't already have (this one and the one in Birkenhead), and one in Huntly, however the torrential rain put a stop to the Huntly cache, so just the two letterbox caches today. I'm trying to get 25 letterbox caches to get the Emerald Letterboxer badge on project-gc.com (https://project-gc.com/ProfileStats/nzseries1#BadgeGen) and this one gets me to 18. So thank you very much for the cache!

Found on an afternoon walk around Three Streams with my girls. I didn't know this reserve existed - thanks!
A day of caching adventures with Riser5 and tikitour to get our planetary pursuit souvenirs. A lovely spot to get out and stretch our legs in the bush. My first letterbox hybrid Tftc
Letter box caches are surprisingly rare when you are looking for one for a specific type of find for your GC licence. Found in the fading light. Forgot my stamp. typical.
We wanted to stop and find this letterbox hybrid when we drove by a couple of days ago, but couldn’t figure out how to access the reserve. Well, we had some time to spare on our last day in NZ, so thought we’d give it a go before heading to the airport. We ended up in a residential street and followed a track through Serenity Reserve to reach the cache. That worked a treat and hopefully the residents didn’t mind a campervan down their street! It was a pretty path and we saw a tree which must have come down in the recent storm. The section blocking the track had been removed. It was a big tree! The cache itself was an easy find and we were amazed to see that it had not been found since last April! We rescued the Geocoin to move it on. Thanks for another stamp in our letterboxing book. We stamped the log book with our stamp too. Have a favourite point. SL. TFTC.
We parked up in Twin Avenue to make the walk down to here, which meant we didn't need to combat the traffic on the Dairy Flat highway. It was a nice walk through here, and made easy with the nice trail maps available on the Cachly app now. No difficulties picking out which trail to use. We took a look at least one of the streams, definitely up with the wet weather, but not like it would have been if the cyclone had hit so we were grateful for that.
The track was OK, very quiet through here, I'm guessing it's not a well used path. Albert the geohound found it more difficult than we did, but he is no fan of steps. Walked up to GZ and was pretty sure we knew where we would be looking and after a minute or so there it was. Cache is in great condition with some really nice swag and even a travel bug. So we swapped some swag, picked up the TB and dropped one we had with us. We lost our letterboxing stamp when my caching bag got nicked in Tauranga so we weren't able to stamp the book. Job done, we put everything back and headed off. Thanks for maintaining this lovely letterbox cache. Great condition.

There were a few options to heading up stream to this cache, I thought I'd just keep going straight and see if I happened to be going the right way. I did! Bit slippery going up after some heavy rains lately. Cache soon spotted with a touch of camo. Nice to see a new log to sign, and new everything, well done on the maintenance TWS.
As I was over on the North Shore today, I thought that I would take a detour and try to find a cache or two while I was in the hood. When I saw this one come up on the map, I was quite curious to come and check out the area as I had not been down here for many years. Anyway, I was quite surprised to see how busy it was in terms of muggles for a wet Tuesday afternoon. So once the coast was clear, and after a short search, I soon had the cache in hand, log signed, and cache replaced before any other muggles happened to wander by. So thank you TheWonderStuff for taking the time to set up this cache. Very cool.
The idea for today was to have a first look for New Zealand beaches and natural treasures in the forests near the sea shores north from Auckland. It was the most exciting Christmas Day in our live. And different then usually. We could rest at clean, natural and in many areas untouched environment. Firstly we noticed ferns everywhere, not only these famous silver ferns but also unique pongas - they are amazing. We have seen them once - in Europe, Portugal - which is probably the only place with them on the northern hemisphere. But they are not so impressive as the ones here. We are really glad to have a chance to see them
We noticed also that the AOTEAROA is really appropriate name for this country when long white clouds always attract the sky
Extensive volcano activities also made a significant impact on this area layout.
At the end of the day we met with other geocachers who came for holidays from southern island. It was nice to talk and spend som time with them.
The last but not least is that we could see all above on relatively small area having fun of celebrating in very unique way Christmas Day.
What a awasome forest and cool path at the cache area. Thank you for bringing us here. I love New Zealand unique forests. TFTC! Greetings from Krakow, Poland!

The Christmas day was the first day of caching in New Zealand for me and Lady Murazor. After over 50 hours of traveling we reached Auckland yesterday on the Christmas Eve, but we were too tired to even look for a cache. So we started today. The hunt was mainly after rarer types of geocaches like letterboxes or Earth Caches but a few of traditional ones were also scored. And along the way there was many possibilities to admire the unique nature of New Zealand.
A nice cache in the forest. All the strange trees around, oh well, it's NZ!
No trade.
Thank you for this cache and greetings from Kraków, Poland!

I was out for the day with the Davidson Clan, Philip Perry and TNXPro to drive Route 66. We were heading home but Philip mentioned he wanted to find this one so we made our way here and after a bit of a drive round we found our way into the park and saw the gates closed in 20 mins, so off we raced. Parts of the path were quite muddy so we needed to step carefully. A nice quick find thankfully so we shouldn't get locked in!
TNXPro, Davidsonclan, Merlot58 & myself have joined forces to tackle Route 66 and now that we're on the way home I knew this was my last chance to fulfil some GLCS requirements so lets keep the roll going. This cache gave us a little run around but in the end the entrance was fairly obvious. The unpaved tracks were a complete mess which was a shame because it was quite a beautiful little gully. The cache was found quickly and in good condition, Cheers TWS, TFTC.

On a caching mission to Auckland. I teamed up with [Davidson Clan](http://naldzgraphics.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/baby16.jpg), [Merlot58](http://www.40daydetox.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/merlot.jpg) and [Philip.Perry](http://cdn1.pri.org/sites/default/files/styles/story_main/public/story/images/One-of-the-photos-taken-b-013.jpg?itok=sAUB2EBU). After completing the Route 66 Series we headed past this one and couldnt resist a few more including this one.
We found the carpark to this eventually and had only 20minutes left before the gates were shut. We decided that was plenty of time and rushed out to this, found and signed it and still has time for one more. Thanks for bringing us in here. Its a nice reserve, but the tracks need some attention.
Cheers.

Stopped by here with the team on an epic day of caching picking up the route 66 series and a few other caches on route.
It was a long day but enjoyable day with great company great views and eventually we managed to stop and eat at about 4 o clock got back to Rotorua around 930 pm and went straight to sleep.
We arrived at the carpark just before 6pm with the gates locked at 6pm we didnt spend much time here just in to get the two caches then out. We did come across others in the reserve not sure where they parked. Cache was found nice and quickly.
thanks for the cache.

Loved walking along the bushy stream track to find this letterbox cache !
Took several photos of the scenery .....
Looked under wrong end first , but eventually found it !
Thanks for showing me this reserve ! Amazing that you can actually drive right down to park ....then it is a very short walk to each of the caches !

I think one of the streams flows right into this cache. I dumped out lots of water and then checked the o-ring to make sure it was seated properly, so, hopefully, there shouldn't be so much water for the next finder. TFTC.

Didn't take too long to find this cache once we followed our geosenses and not the GPS so much, which was very bouncy under all of the tree coverage

In auckland visiting some friends for the weekend and thought we would tick off a few caches. Had to grab the nearby letterbox so came for a walk round this park. Nice area for some fresh air. Took a few minutes to locate with signal bouncing around under the trees. Eventually found by tommygun9 again. Thanks for the cache
After grabbing the nearby traditional we made our way to this cache.
It was a tricky guy to find but we got there.
The inside of the cache is very wet so I gave it a quick dry out before rehiding it.
We overshot this park once before but a recce via Google Street View helped this time.

#10648. This reserve seems to have been setup with a burst of enthusiasm, but since then has been rather neglected. We had no trouble navigating to GZ, but reception at GZ was dodgy so it took a little while before I spied the cache in its hiding place. TFTC.
We had planned to start our caching expedition at the Three Streams Reserve, then "work" our way back to the Albany shopping centre. But due to crap signage of the reserve, we only noticed the entrance way as we were passing it. Decided to carry on a little further to another cache on a side road then return for another go at this reserve. No problems second time.
A short walk later, we were at GZ, though my Oregon insisted the cache was still 30m away, luckily StreetWalker's GPSr is more reliable under trees. We started searching, but had to stop when 3 muggles turned up, and passed us, but they soon turned back as the track petered out ahead. One then attempted to cross the stream on the large, but slippery looking tree bridge. I was beginning to wonder if it would end in tears when sanity prevailed and she turned back.
All this time, SW had been surreptitiously searching and was able to present me with the cache once they were out of sight. As others have reported, the container's contents are quite damp and needs maintenance. Thanks for bringing me to this cool wee reserve which must be a well kept local secret. TFTC.

Find took a bit longer than it should, as per previous logs stamp pad dry, log book damp but was able to write in it. Interesting reserve once found how to get in.
Todays mission was to get 4 Letterbox Caches for my GIO LL Stage 3 challenge and this one was the second. Took me a while to find an entry point to the reserves and as luck would have it, I didn't find the best one so I stumbled along many tracks, my GPS (cellfone) not helping too much, before I finally got to the right spot. The "dead end" wasn't roped off so I kept going until my GPS finally woke up and sent me back. Soon had the cache in hand and logged. Thanks for the pleasant walk through the woods even tho by this stage the rain had settled in. On my way out, I stumbled on the proper entry to the reserve, bit late then tho, eh? TFTC

Kiwi has lived on the Shore for over 30 years. He has driven up & down this road hundreds of times and had no idea this reserve was here.
The entrance to the reserve took a bit of finding but eventually we sussed where it was located. Lovely bush walk had by all. Thanks for bringing to this reserve. I am sure we will revisit sometime in the future. Gets a favourite tick from us for the location.

An expected and much appreciated early finish after my exam today had me eyeing up a few target caches and a chance to clear the Riverhead loop of errant puppies, piggies and all manner of other fauna. With some healthily loaded salad and tuna sandwiches for company, a full tank of fuel, and a promise of rain all afternoon I ensured I'd got my scruffiest caching attire and was all set. Hitting the trail before 1 this afternoon had me back at my accommodation beforte dark with a succesful mission achieved. All in all got all the targetted puppies, piggies and over 40 smilies, including a first Smile cache.

What an awesome little spot. Thanks guys for bringing me to another beautiful little glade Id never been to. 'While I'm not a 'Letter Box' person I did notice however that the ink pad for the Letter Box stamp was very dry, unlike the rest of the cache that was quite damp. Dried out as best as time would allow...

Caught up with some fellow cachers who advised to be very alert driving up the hill as it is very easy to over shoot the entrance to this little park . . . . .and they weren't wrong . . . . steep little driveway down to the car park. Then we walked in to find the cache . . . . . and then there was a piece of the track that had dropped away so we carefully got past this and soon had the cache in hand to sign the logbook and get ourselves a stamp. YAY second letterbox cache done. TFTC
Out caching today with SethRaven and Move Star. Was a lovely bush walk til we came to the part where the track or bridge has given way so it was up and down thru some mud to get to the cache. TFTC My first letterbox cache
Bit of a slippery walk but got there eventually. Container was a bit wet inside probably needs some maintenance. TFTC
I too went the hard way not knowing if there was an approach from any of the small residential streets off The Avenue. So parked safely on the highway and scrambled through the 'terrain' until i found the stream. Not sure which side of the stream gz should be as my Gps signal not the best. Thought about crossing the 'bridge' near gz but wasnt sure of its strength so played it safe and down to the stream it was!
Found soon after thanks to clue and a little common sense, shoes now very muddy!
Thx for the [possibly unnecessary] adventure and cache

I approached from the worst direction. I ended up scrambling across a stream and found what I thought was the correct path. White markers lead me through someone's front yard and eventually I was on the correct track. Just before GZ a section of the path has caved in and someone has put bits of tree on the ground to stop you getting wet. I was relieved to eventually reach GZ and make a quick find. Thanks TheWonderStuff for an adventure.
Woohoo a new icon for our 12 different cache types in one day mission

TFTC. Last day of MEGA adventures for PWR PKT. Todays plan was to find at least 10 different types of cache. So after the flash mob we were joined by kotuku SI and had a wander and added this to the tick list. So far we have Lab, Whereigo, Virtual, Event, Trad, Multi, CITO and now a Letterbox!!!
This was a lovely walk through the bush - I have to say my legs were starting to feel the efforts of the great weekend!
Thanks The WonderStuff for the cache placement.

Reveurs and I had planned on doing as many cache types as we could in a day today, taking advantage of the Mega Event and related activities. We left the Mega Event venue in Albany on Sunday night and drove down to Tauranga to start with the Webcam cache after Midnight. We then got the nearby Traditional cache then headed back up to Waihi for a virtual and earth cache at Martha's Mine.
Then got about 1 and a half hours sleep in Karangahake Gorge, then on to Auckland Domain where we did a wherigo and the flashmob event. Then on to a multi and puzzle on the North Shore before heading to the CITO event. Then on to get this letterbox hybrid in Albany and then home to sleep at about 1pm. With the Mega Event we got 11 cache types in one day. A fun but tiring trip day.
This is my first Letterbox Hybrid. It is good to have got another type of cache.

Energy levels falling we (by we I actually mean I) read the sign wrong and parked up the top which meant after we had to walk back up! Met up with some cahing buddies, purdiepurdie and karma reprint (team PWR PKT) this morning at the Pukeko Flash mob to do as many different caches toady. Our plan was to get things collected to complete the task before I had to take off at lunch. The plan was initiated yesterday with doing some homework for a Whereigo and EC. I woke up late this morning (6am) and sorted myself out. I had to met the rest of the PWR PKT team at the Flash Dance event. I sorted the checkout and bill just after 8am. Do I have time? I went for it. I wouldn't have any time later in the day for a Letterbox. I parked up at Twin Rivers and ran to GZ, I ignored the trad I past, time was pressing. Was happy to make a quick find and sign. Ran back to the car and was back on the road at 8.33 should make it

A lovely stand of native bush, we enjoyed this walk, found the cache and celebrated with lunch. TFTC.

A long day with Adventure Collectors at the Mega. What great spot. Ignored the sign and soon had the cache in hand. My second only letterbox cache. TFTC
We'll, I think this is my first letterbox cache. On out challenge for 12 cache types in a day. Another icon on the list. Might have to come back to this park, and walk around when we have some more time. TFTC.
PurdiePurdie, KotukuSI and MacPacMum teamed up to find. Initially we condidered the cross country route, but thought that there must be a better (and easier) way. There was, and we managed to find a well hidden smiley. 10 out of 10 cache types for the day. Thanks for the hide.
Headed back out this way on the Monday after the mega event with alpenmilch80 and slieschke. Alpenmilch80 needed a letterbox for her 7+ challenge and we weren't far away so headed out to this one. Parked up after nearly missing the park entrance and made our way along the track. A quick find here in a lovely spot. TFTC!
A Mega caching party were out and about trying to up the 'types' found in a day and letterbox cache was the next on the queue. After we worked out how to get into this area we really enjoyed our stroll though this area. Karma Reprint made the find. TFTC.
[green] Found this cache with Edvern and the Delta Responce Team. What's annoying is that while I remember the next cache very well, I can't remember this - yes I can! We carefully ignore the private property sign (as cachers do when there is a cache in the property) and followed the path. A few small washouts, no big deal. The cache was quickly found. Nice pretty area.
Found with Delta Response Team, heathtree and the Seagnoid. A pleasant short walk, and good to claim another letterbox.
Reperio at 0800.
Found on Day 6 of my visit to the North Island as a part of the NZ Mega event...and I decided to get up nice an early to tackle a few caches. After being involved in a car crash this morning...a nice walk was what I needed...and this one was perfect. Once at GZ, the cache was located without any fuss, and I took my time walking back to the car to enjoy the surrounding area.

Had a picnic lunch in the carpark before attempting this one. We were side-tracked by an elusive Traditional cache on the way, then went up a driveway and ended up at a house... we backtracked and tried another path... too much bush-bashing with a 2YO!
We went back again and found the correct path (which ended up crossing with both the house we had first been at, and the area we were bush-bashing in!).
Once on the correct path, we again had a bit of back-and-forth before Dad did the last 30m alone... he found it pretty easily and we headed back to the car.
The team waited there while Dad went back to see if he could find the Traditional - still no luck
This is part of our 7 different caches in the day - Lab cache, MEGA, Earth, Traditional and Letterbox

Cache #7 for today,
Over in New Zealand for the AUCKLAND MEGA from Australia for 6 days during which I hope to met a few new faces and get to 500.
My first Letterbox Cache we went for a nice wander in the area. The hardest part of this cache was finding an entry point. Once we got into the park it was a short walk after the first stop to get to this cache.

#4774. We almost had to circumnavigate the reserve before finding the trailhead. Lots of paths here to explore. Found with KiwiWL. Log a bit damp, but writeable. TNLNSL. TFTC.
Well, this is one cacher for who the sign and the state of the track stopped.
Looking at the logs it is clear that other cachers came in the way we did, saw the "PRIVATE PROPERTY past this point" and ignored it. Come on - that's one easy way to give our sport a bad name.
We turned back and found another letterbox for the day.
I've since heard that some cachers did find the cache by approaching from another direction and it was right on/next to the path, but where they got in is a mystery to me as we drove around the "block" several times without seeing anything that didn't look like a private driveway.

After spending close to 20 minutes trying to find a trailhead, we read a previous log and discovered where to begin. I've added a coordinate to this log with the coordinates for the trailhead.
Took a leisurely walk through the bush on NZ Mega afternoon in-between activities and snagged this one relatively quickly. Letterboxes aren't very common so always nice to snag one. Thanks for the fun.

Well this one took a little longer than intended as the track had been washed away on the way to GZ. With a bit of care we made away across the washout and arrived at GZ to find a cache!
This is Day 3 of our trip to the Land of the Long White Cloud for the 2013 NZ MEGA event in Auckland. I joined Gunnie69 and Kaisho53 for a fun packed 5 days of geocaching adventures. The day was focussed on tackling the 101 dalmation series and making our way to the NZ MEGA site.

I'm visiting from Melbourne for the New Zealand Mega which means finding lots of caches and coming here especially to find this one - the whole experience has been fantastic. The weather has also been much nicer than back in Melbourne and that has meant long hours starting early and caching late into the night and not getting much sleep in between. I had spent many hours in the lead up to my arrival in New Zealand preparing an itinerary of caches, solved puzzles and places I wanted to visit and I'm pleased to say I completed just about everything I had planned. For the places I didn't get to visit, well that just means I'm gonna come back. I've seen stunning sights, walked lots of kilometres (and driven even more) met some great people and made new friends which has been awesome.
Thanks TheWonderStuff for bringing me here and for adding to my positive experience.

Found while out on a day caching with Teams Skullracing, Coruze and Troobloo. We parked and started walking around the paths for this one, as we headed up a path we came to a house and felt like we were on private property. However some of he geomen had the courage to cross the driveway and find a way for us to travel further to the elusive letterbox cache! A few of our legs were feeling the walk and wondering how we would make it up those steps, when we realised that there was a flat path further up that we could take, which made the exit a lot more bearable!! In Albany for the MEGA weekend.
Called by today to collect a Letterbox for the most types found in a day personal challenge. Ignored the Private Property sign as everybody else seems to have done.

It seems we always go in the hard or the long way, this was no exception.
We wandered along nice tracks and crossed bridges and creeks during
our very nice wander through this area. At one stage we had a bit of a hiccup
as it appeared we had lost our way. Widened our scan and found our way.
Close to GZ we came to a bit of a boggy section but that wasn't stopping us.
The cache was soon in the hands of Coruze, Kiara001 and Skullracing and I
for our signing.

A cache of a different kind, we like these!
Caching in Albany with Kiara001, Skullracing and Troobloo, love it [^]
We began our stroll through the beautiful scrub, chatting, laughing and really enjoying the area. As always we go in the hard way but we weren't complaining at all. At one stage we were very close to a house but we soon found the track back in! Just about to reach GZ and we noticed a private property sign and we weren't sure if we should really be there, but our target was that cache so we quietly crept to the cache. GZ looked like it had been in a war and was very muddy but we achieved our result by signing the log and taking the easy way back to the car! Thanks TheWonderStuff for the hunt and smilie!

#4820 We were cruising around Auckland with our caching pals Coruze, Kiara001 and TrooBloo trying to grab different types of caches during our stay. Unfortunately some water damage has occurred to the path into GZ however it is still passable with caution (can be slippery). It was a lovely wander through the area and the cache container itself is in good condition. Unfortunately we left our own letterbox stamp at home in Australia however we did stamp our logbook with the "Good Work" stamp. Our thanks to TheWonderStuff for this different type of geocache. Cheers [^]
Out and about with Ghostgums and Kaisho53, we were picking up a few close by caches between the Mega Event and the Flash Mob. The rare icons always draw out attention so we found our way into this area in search of the wee envelope... [^]
Off down the path, the course in was interesting and a little tricky in places. The recent rain probably didn't help much either... On arrival at GZ though, the cache was located quickly by Kaisho53 and we paused to add a couple of stickers to the log book... Business sorted, we tucked it away and headed back. We bumped into another hunter on his way in as we were heading back. He made short work of the find also and caught up with us at the next cache...
A nice spot for a cache and well worth a visit. Thanks for bringing us out this way WonderStuff.

Auckland Mega Event 2013. Saturday and a fantastic day of caching planned alongside KiwifruitsNZ with the objective of reaching my 1000th find during the weekend. This was find # 947 on that journey. What a laugh as one of the KiwifruitsNZ team members almost got stuck in the mud but persistence paid off. TFTC
While at the 'Mega' we thought this was a great chance to try and collect as many different types as we could in the one day. As this was a spur of the moment decision we hadn't prepared our GPS for this so a big 'THANK YOU' to the friendly geocachers who kindly provided us with the coordinates of a few of the different types we were after
Our target list of 9 different types was:
1. Mega event
2. Flash Mob event
3. Lab Cache (5 brand new ones for the day)
4. Traditional (plenty of these to be had around the event area)
5. Mystery (originally found 'Blue Grotto' but apparently is now re-listed as a traditional 'Pukeko Blue' so it was a last minute dash out to 'Adequate Vista' at night)
6. Multi (a nice walk up the hill !)
7. Letterbox (Although the trail actually had a sign about 20m before the cache saying the track was closed and was private property?? it didn't seem to stop any cachers - including us).
8. Earth cache (always nice to take in some of the interesting geology and logged with permission)
9. Virtual (The only one in Auckland apparently! Finished it at about 10pm but what a spectacular sight from the top - glad we included this one)
Hopefully we can plan to better this list (+CITO and webcam perhaps) at next year's Mega!!

On our way to the Auckland mega event, and we thought we grab 7+ types a day at the same time! Finding the entrance to the cache was definitely tricky, a parking waypoint would have been helpful! Reading a previous log and seeing Twin Ct as an access point helped in the end. One of the team members got eaten by the mud on the way in which provided great laughs. On our to mega headquarters now! TFTC!
Navigated the track system pretty well and wandered along a bush stream edge. Thanks to a previous log we entered via the Twin Courts access, as the access points are not obvious. Found the sign that suggested we go no further and ignored it. Coordinates didn't quite match the final location but it is under bush cover so accuracy is not expected. GZ is very obvious when matched up to the hint. Logbooks are damp but able to write on. Thanks for the extra trouble taken to create a letterbox cache. This will be #5 of our 7+ challenge for cache types in a day. TFTC
Took us a while to work out how to get to the start of the track and then what track which leads to the cache. Great patch of bush. Another cache type found today.
