17-May-24
thank you !!

First find for today together with Greenkiwikid the youngest. Once we arrived at GZ, it was a nice and easy find and a great view. What the bridge is for? It's obvious: To get to the cache of course, or would you rather like to cross the motorway? I certainly don't.Thanks for hiding and maintaining. Tftc.

03-Dec-23
I wondered why this footbridge was here too....maybe to put signs on it ? Fishing spot ? Otherwise no where to go...TFTC

06-Aug-23
We finished the day with a walk across this footbridge to where?? Exactly to no where. Great views of the traffic & City of Sails and definitely worth the walk. Thanks for bringing me here. Found with Lis's Crew on a sunny winters day. TFGC

05-Aug-23
The plan this weekend was to head to Auckland Friday evening with Yvettetb. Saturday we had a lovely day caching around the Northcoate area with great Harbour Bridge views from all over the place. Sunday we went geocaching in the Riverhead/Kumeū area before heading north again.

Definitely interesting to walk over here. Amazing the need for this expensive overbridge. My last cache for the day. A quick find here. Thanks for all your caches today in G_2 land Smile

03-Jul-23

Cache has been in place for 15 years!
Still people are finding it and very few are wise to Wai it’s there, at least they can see the way to the Wai and visit it.

07-Apr-23
So stoked Ollie found this himself!!
Beautiful Easter Day (Good Friday!)
stunning views too Smile

12-Mar-23
M24: nice easy find, spider webs covering it, no matter for signing the log, which is all good. TFTC.

31-Dec-22
Since we were in the area thought we would go in search of this one as pretty cool to get to walk over the motorway over bridge. Nice quick find
Thanks for placing the cache glyn(the only one).
Find number 4668.
Log signed b&p.

Mrs Stik-a-Crane messaged to find out if anyone was keen for a caching Father’s Day surprise with Mr Stik-a-Crane….well I had a few hours free after dropping off the minis before they need collecting so of course!!

Met up with Uncle Sam, Mr Stik-a-Crane and Cruising 5 and off we went for a walk.

Crossed the field and had a laugh because I couldn’t quite see how we approached the ramp but it was right in front of us I just looked at it from a weird angle. We knew where we would have to get to and made it there for a nice quick find….but what is the actual point of this bridge?!! Still no idea but happy it holds a smile.

Thanks for the cache.

04-Sep-22
Out for a day caching on Father's day with some members of team SEAC , this was number two I would love to know what the gate at the top of the bridge is for. Log signed as SEAC. This was a nice quick easy find TFTC

04-Sep-22
Out with some of the gang from Team SEAC, as one of the guys was given a Pass to go out and do some caching for Fathers day. We enjoyed the walk around the lagoon and the day out together.

Would love to know why this bridge is here and if there were some plans to do something on the other side!

04-Sep-22
Today was Father's Day, and with that means a sleep in for me ....yah.... so when I finally surfaced for the day, I was instructed that I might like to open a card from one of the children.....a clue, so off I go to follow the clues to identify what was planned for my day......after 8 clues it was confirmed a trip caching had been arranged ....and with only half an hour before leaving time.....delivered the teen to work and discovered the phone only had 30% battery and no cache data loaded on the GPS meant turn the phone off to get max charge in during the drive to the first cache.....
Arrived and only at 60% charge, and found a few familiar faces waiting to start the adventure.....now the strict time frame made sense....decided to run a PQ and live download to the GPS that was fully charged, but forgot to limit the PQ area, so the max 1000 caches started downloading, taking too long and using too much power from the phone....decided to use the other SEAC members cache data and my phone to log a draft for any finds to preserve power....managed to locate 17 caches in total, before charging was not happening fast enough between finds.....

Thanks to the CO's for placement, and maintaining caches found today.

Signed in as SEAC to save logbook space.

Why did the geocacher cross the bridge? You know the rest ! Tftc

31-Dec-21
Great to walk across this bridge.
Watching all the traffic going by.

19-Dec-21
Whoooooo that's a nerve-wracking walk with all the cars whizzing by! Oh the places we go for a find fun had with Gidgetster today TFTC

19-Dec-21
Caching afternoon with The_Foxes. Why is there a bridge here? Anyways nice little walk across the bridge and quickly one of our mini geocachers had the cache in hand. TFTC

19-Oct-21
I drove past this GZ soooooo many times over the last few months whilst working on the Shore, but never got over that way to cross that bridge when I came to it. Got over it real quick and soon made the cache find. Nice and peaceful despite all that traffic whizzing by so close by.

A new day, and a new set of targets and goals to try and meet. I came out this way during the August lock-down last year and we did a few visual walk-pasts without touching or signing anything. Back today to make the finds and sign the logs. A few out Onepoto way, as well as some along the trails out towards Birkenhead and finished at the Sugar factory. Thanks to all COs for their hides and the fun.

I was out caching for the first 3 days of this week, racking up over 12kms walked on each of the three days, and getting healthy double-figure hauls in the process too. In line with the NZ Geocache Reviewers guidance on what Covid Level 3, Part 1 looks like, geocaching is permitted but not events or any new listings. It seems the NZ Covid website has failed to maintain pace with Lockdown level amendments and changes and is still lumping Geocaching in with Orienteering and other gathering type activities. This one was fun! Glad to finally use this bridge

15-Jul-21

21-Mar-21
Added new waterproof log strip

03-Mar-21
Easy little find. Nice view

27-Feb-21
This was awesome. I enjoy standing on motorway bridges and watching the traffic, but I'd never been up on this one before and the geocache gave me an excuse to do it! Great find, in great condition, and I noticed there's another log sign dated today so I wonder if the previous finder and I just missed each other. It's actually very nice here down by the water with the traffic passing behind me, maybe I'll come more often. TFTC and a FP for the location, my favourite from today for sure!

27-Feb-21
Wai, oh wai did I try this one? Wai did it mata if I found it or not?
I don't like bridges, I don't like the motorway, and I really don't like bridges over the motorway. I was really hoping the cache would be on the land side of the bridge not the harbour side, but I knew there wouldn't be much fun in that.
So, I pulled my hat tight, held on to my phone and took it one step at a time. I made it to the other side, but I couldn't tell you what the traffic was like, nor the view from the top. Found the cache, signed the log, realised the traffic was at a standstill and I was being watched by a lorry driver. Made it back to the safe side and sat in the shade under a tree with a nice cold drink of water.

18-Feb-21
A bit bigger than the usual tiny cache.

31-Dec-20
Nice easy cache with a view!

21-Dec-20
Nice work Glenn! This geocaching thing is fun

28-Mar-20
Great hide. Clue got me a little stumped at first but then figured it out. TFTC

27-Mar-20
Really smart place to hide it ! I thought it was quite hard, came back to find it the 2nd day. Amazing view of the city

16-Feb-20
Really a bridge to nothing much... good view of the city though I guess. Quick find tftc Smile

16-Feb-20
Tftf with k-adventure and danievelyn

16-Feb-20
Quick and easy find, glad someone found a use of sorts for this bridge, if not for the geocache what do you use it for?

Confirms my GPS is a bit off. Fab clue. Lovely views but sad it is a path to nowhere...what a waste.

31-Dec-19
Odd bridge. Great views. Easy find. Thanks.

30-Dec-19
Trying, if not particularly hard, on the 3-2-1 souvenir. Bit drizzly today but something lovely about sitting by the water for a moment or two. The bridge is there to watch the kayakers on the motorway in a king tide. Love a magnetic cache, cheers.

20-Dec-19
Found, love it

25-Jun-19
#863. I was in the area grabbing caches so thought I'd detour ever so slightly and grab this one. I drive under this bridge a lot and wondered where it went. Actually I didn't wonder where it went, I just assumed it went down to Sulphur Point. I was very surprised to see today that it doesn't! How bizarre!

The cache was an easy find. I took a couple of photos.

I wish I had a bit more time so I could follow the track away from the city and see where it went. But by the looks of what I could see from the top of the bridge, it doesnt go anywhere easily accessible, unless you like walking through the Waitemata Harbour!

Isn't Skypath supposed to come along here sometime?

Thanks for the cache! This one's been around a while I see!

23-Jun-19
The bridge to nowhere! No one else around today - other than cars on the motorway. GPS spot on for a quick find. TFTC.

26-May-19
After a walk around tuff crater we thought we may aswell try and have a look for this one too.Enjoyed our walk to the otherside and the view when we got there. Not too much traffic on the motorway today but a quick find.

04-May-19
Sent geohubbie over the bridge for this one as I’m not keen on bridges with lots of fast moving traffic under them. He made a quick find and returned to home base safely. Tftc.

16-Mar-19
Figured out pretty quick where it was probably gonna be Smile tftc

09-Feb-19
I like the name of the cache and location too. Sometimes better not ask Wink TFTC

09-Feb-19
Thank you. DNF two others tonight so this was a big relief not to strike out completely

09-Sep-18
Found it!

07-Jul-18
Have often wondered where this bridge went to, and now I know - nowhere! Well, except to a cache. A nice quick find here.

30-Jun-18
Mum and Miss Five have gone out for the afternoon, so I've come out for a walk at Tuff Crater with Miss Two. We parked near this cache and crossed the Big Bridge to find it before setting off. Thanks!

26-Apr-18
Greetings from Norway!

02-Feb-18
Great hide, defo odd bridge. Nice view though. TFTC

20-Jan-18
Yes a lot of effort to put such a bridge in just to be met with some rocks and a fence. Oh well it is here and so is the cache

21-Oct-17
On the bridge to nowhere but the cache. Thanks for the cache.

20-Aug-17
Out with Yorkshirekiwi83 & Vamber today to grab a few caches on the shore. We signed the log as KKKTS. THe others had this, so we trotted over the bridge to quickly find the cache, thanks

05-Jun-17
Quick find with the kids who loved the walk over the bridge. TFTC

04-Jun-17
Number 100 for me! Had been here previously before I knew there was a geocache. Wondered why the bridge was here. Guess I know now.

04-Jun-17
Have been on this bridge one other time before I started geocaching. Cool views from here but not sure what the point of this bridge was. Tftc! Smile

09-Apr-17
Found with Pazzabella and Merlot58 and geo dogs tftc

09-Apr-17
This really is a bridge to nowhere! I stupidly thought there might be a walkway shore side, but no, you come to a dead end! I wandered across the busy motorway with Geocchi and Pazzabella and geodogs and had my hand on the cache in the first place I looked.

09-Apr-17
Q. Why did the cacher cross the road?
A. To get to the other cache.
I think if we weren't popping over here to grab a cache, we may have ended up asking ourselves WTF (abridged version for wai the f@# for [?] ) Surely the scores of traffic flying past must have wandered why we had wandered here? thanks Glyn.

08-Apr-17
As you say G, seems like an extreme waste of money building a bridge to nowhere. All I saw at the end of it is a sign about birds eggs, and a way to see mud in the low tide. Hmmm... great! What is the gate doing there at top of the bridge? God knows if it that has any use! Anyway, a cache is a cache, nice day for walkies.

17-Mar-17
Nice greets from Dresden in Germany Smile. Tftc

22-Dec-16
out with 10centnz for the day, wai indeed a lot of money to erect that bridge and for what, nice pleasent walk all the same, and a quick find amongst the traffic, tftc

21-Dec-16
Out with Lokky1 for the morning. Quick find. Cache is getting abbot worn out but log is dry. Tftc

06-Dec-16
#222. Headed here at 9pm after a games' night with some mates. I think this is only the second time I've crossed this bridge after living in Auckland for over 40 years. A lovely cool night's walk with views of the city looking pretty impressive at night. The cache was exactly where I figured it would be, but it gets an FP from me for the location and for getting me out here! TFTC.

22-Nov-16
Took 10 minutes but we found it. Hooray. Tftc.

22-Nov-16
Tftc. First find of the day.

21-Nov-16
Lost my pen so scratched 'E' on the log. Hint was all I needed to find cache. I've always wanted to walk over this curiously located bridge. Thanks for the motivation to finally make the effort. Photo attached.

26-Sep-16
Wahoo daylight saving, an extra hour in the evening for caching.
The monday rush hour traffic is light today with it being school holidays. TFTC

20-Aug-16
Yet again the keen eyes of the 9 year old found it! Here's the requested photo.

06-Aug-16

06-Jul-16
Amazing to be able to walk over the motorway. Tftc

06-Jul-16
Lovely view

04-Jun-16
We went out for a walk today after lunch at Takapuna. We needed somewhere kinda of easy and flat as my other half hurt his knee, so we decided on heading out to around the crater. We pulled up the car and I realised I had still not grabbed this cache, so over the bridge it was. I soon had the cache in hand, signed and replaced. Though the lid of the cache is missing. We stood around and enjoyed the view from here for a bit, even if it is not the quietest place, and then headed on back for a lovely walk on a sunny day. TFTC #570

19-Apr-16
Nice took us a long time to find

27-Mar-16
Smile Found ... we had friends up for the weekend & decided to go for a drive to check out some things over on the North Shore ... went over the motorway to nab this cache ... in the end, the cache was easily found & quickly replaced ... TN:LN:SL ... TFTC ... #1,243 for us.

20-Mar-16
New log

19-Mar-16
My first cache on new Zealand. First of many I hope. Log book is getting full and a little worn. TFTC!

19-Jan-16
Easy peasy!! Wonder if the bridge was there before the bus lane, with the intention of opening up as walkway but then the buses took over? Seems a waste, but good spot for a geocache!! Couldn't log as paper is full (damp too). TFTC Smile

06-Dec-15
Just found it!
Indeed, what's the point of that bridge?
Just crossed someone going on that bridge while I was heading off. Another geocacher?
Tftc! Smile
