As this cache has been out of action for too long, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

We found this some time ago, so when a friend couldn't find it recently, they asked us to check it. The group of trees that were at GZ have gone, and the cache with them. As there's been no response from the CO to a number of DNF's and a Needs Maintenance log, we think this one needs to be archived.

25-Oct-14

21-Jan-14
Little wet and the pond is being dug up next to it! Haha quite exciting to have the construction workers looking at us like we were insane!

21-Jan-14
Public works happening in the area right now. Need to go behind the cordon after the workers have knocked off work. Wet inside so don't leave anything that will get soggy. Left 1c. Thanks for the cache

11-Jan-14
Oh Dear, another wet one. These containers have tended to be not so water tight. But congrats on the water proof paper. However moisture + time = smell. I've emptied cache onto the nearby tables to dry it best I can in the time I had, I've added a zip lock bag, pencil and shapener aswell. TFTC, it's weird because the last time I was here this was all farm land. A nice trip down memory lane.

23-Nov-13
Easy find before breakfast while staying at a nearby B&B. TFTC

so it was a quick find before carrying on. The coords were spot on.

28-Sep-13
Nice hide GPS took us straight to the cache. TFTC

22-Sep-13
Picked the wrong entrance and almost went back to school. Regrouped and found the correct way into the park. All the SK8r Muggles were off home for the day, so we had an easy job to find and sign off.

Thanks Headwig.

'31 Days of Geocaching' Day 25: An easy find in a nice park, Mrs NZK had just finished a morning shift and I thought this would be a good one to as it was sunny again after some heavy rain. Had not been here for a while so it was good to revisit the area now and see the development. The cache was in good condition, thanks for the placement.

18-Nov-12
Found in between showers with my to ninjas

10-Nov-12
Quite a number of softball games going on nearby but they really weren't interested in me.

After hosting "A Numbers Event" I decieded to leave town and collect a few caches of my own. We had a 70's party tonight so came over early (without costume) and cached and ate and cached.

TFTC

01-Oct-12
Been meaning to do this one for so long now, being the closest unfound to home. Finally done. TFTC

18-Sep-12
It's very wet underfoot at the moment but I noticed a concrete path long after I took the cross-country route. A nice secluded spot has been chosen for the cache which was found in good condition, though I struggled to remove the log from the container. I appreciated the hint on arrival. TFTC

On a mission today: 1) to find my 600th cache, 2) to make a dent in the caches around the Waikareao Estuary Walkway, 3) to find as many caches around Otumoetai area.

Followed the instructions for this cache, as the park was in full use this afternoon. Found cache easily. The log was hard to extract from the container. TFTC.

Due to the bad state of the area and recent flooding this cache is being moved and updated. Watch this space. Thanks.

12-Jul-11
Finally. The hint made no sense to me so just heaps of scratching around

30-Apr-11
Felt like a tramp - good challenge - clue helped - thanks for the cache

30-Apr-11
Took a lot of searching for this

22-Apr-11
Sorry, but this cache was difficult to get to, and difficult to find when we got there. The only consolation was that despite encountering lots of cutty grass, we managed to avoid being cut. TFTC

02-Apr-11
First off doubted gps but ended up being correct. Cache is all black instead of white and red as shown in the picture. Found it but was considerably wet by the time back to the car from the rain. Tftc

#345 Well, we felt like real explorers in the deepest rainforest, but after working out the directions about 3 times, we did find it. TNLN TFTC

26-Feb-11
Struggled a bit at GZ, but soon had cache in hand. Thanks.

18-Feb-11
This one was not the easiest to get too but I managed to get there in the end. Had a few cuts and scratches to show for my efforts. Could not see the cache so had to use my hands to feel for it. As I was leaving GZ some school kids were approaching so made a quick exit. I would no doubt have looked out of place hiding in the bushes near a school. TFTC

27-Jan-11
Getting to the GZ was a little challenge but the find was quick and easy once there. TFTC

04-Jan-11
5.15pm - Didnt find this cache very user friendly, many scratches to prove we did this cache. TFTC

30-Dec-10
Went a bit off piste and suffered the wrath of the cutty grass. Nice quick find once we managed to hack our way to GZ. TFTC,

28-Dec-10
Not a nice area to be hunting - we were stumped on this one

21-Nov-10
Finaly catching up on logs. TFTC

21-Nov-10
Late Log, Thanks for the cache.

08-Oct-10
[Found after 10 minutes of shredding my arms amongst a huge cutting grass bush. Can't see the skate park any more over it and the GPS was pointing straight towards it, 4 metres from where I was standing, even after doing quite a few passes above along the track and below in the swampy, smelly bog. In the end I remembered the clue and put two and two together and found it, basically where I was originally standing lol- I must remember to trust geo-sense more! Cache is dry and clean and in a spot where you have heaps of time to sit and fill in the log. TFTC Smile

] For anyone wanting a spoiler, substitute the last part of the co ords to .522 and .953

To anyone attempting this cache. I have just checked this cache and it is now visible from the school fence due to general trampling. And I can CLEARLY see the skate ramps when standing next to the cache !!! It was much harder to find when placed. One of the things about geocaching is that if you use some initiative and study the local environment around a cache you can usually figure out an easier way in. Also knowing how to use a gps and having one set up so that it is accurate is a good idea. And lastly, wouln't it be really boring if we made all caches so easy to find that there was no effort or hardship involved.[B)]

05-Sep-10
Cache in place and in perfect condition. Even easier to find due to the environment being trampled more by the local school. And been found just lately by a few people...... cool.

02-Sep-10
The walk across the grass initially was some of the wettest lawn we had been on and the path wasn't much better.
Thinkgs improved as we moved up into the cutty grass thoughwe would never have found your cache without following the clue.
Good one

02-Sep-10
"Be careful of cutty grass, thorns and sneaky fence wire." Yep, I think we can tick off all of those items Smile
I can also add a swollen creek and an extremely soggy park!
Apart from all this (or because of?) it was an easy find.
Can only just see the skate park from GZ if you are tall (Feathertop couldn't!)
Thanks, Robmc.

22-Aug-10
This was my third attempt and that's it, I just cannot find this cache for love or money!!!! Pity

07-Aug-10
It was good to get this one as I failed to find one by same cache owner the previous day TFTC

13-Jul-10

In Tauranga on a caching mission with Tufty. Found after a wee bit of a search. TFTC

11-Apr-10
Coldstream and I were on a cache raid to the Western Bay of Plenty. You certainly have to watch out for the cutty grass here especially if you go the wrong way.

Cheers for the cache.

05-Apr-10
Had some fun getting to this cache from a different direction. Scateboard ramp very busy. TFTC

02-Apr-10
Found lots of Blackberry & Cuttygrass but sadly no cache SadSadSadSad

14-Feb-10
Dang... This one got the better of me.

05-Jan-10
Finally found this cache on our 5th return to the area looking for it. I wouldn't describe the skatepark as being seen clearly from Gz, perhaps the vegetation has grown since publishing. The GPS was also reading 18m away when at GZ with reasonable accuracy, I put it closer to S 37 40.529 E 179 07.950. But overall glad to be able to tick it off the list, thanks.

13-Nov-09
Too good a hidding spot. Have 2 try again another day 1-4-1 Family

23-Oct-09
Checked cache today. Replaced whole cache as it was completely soaked. New log in place.
Surrounding vegetation and tracks have changed since placing this cache but is still accessable and well hidden in the same spot.

23-Oct-09

31-Aug-09

31-Aug-09
Straightforward hide with good clue! TFTC Cheers Muzy Man! Big Grin

29-Aug-09

29-Aug-09
Took a while, coords a bit off but our first find for the weekend! Been meaning to tackle this series for a while!

28-Aug-09
On a cache mission for the day with The Freezer Mice and managed to knock this one off. TFTC

28-Aug-09
The Freezer Mice strike again!!!
Out on a day of 'raiding' caches in Tauranga with Twigster.
One of the many spots that we stopped at.
As per previous logs, the log book is completely soddenand needs some TLC.
TNLN, TFTC.

26-Jul-09
This proved to be our hardest one for the day ... got there in the end by checking our co-ordinates/direction nearby in the school playing field, away from the trees.

A relief when we did find it eventually. Contents were very damp. Many thanks for the cache. Smile A nice sunny spot early in the morning.

08-Jul-09
Another one in the series completed while on holiday in Tauranga. Great park and an excellent hide. TFTC

13-Jun-09
Soggy walk around the outskirts of the park, but got there in the end. NINO TFTC

31-May-09
On a geocaching day trip with Kiwicouple and Rosmar. Was a bit of a wet day today after the rain yesterday, but decided to give this one a go anyway. Not too slippery. Took a bit of foraging around as the GPS wouldn't quite settle down. Got there in the end. Yay, thanks. Smile

31-May-09
Second day of our caching weekend with kiwifeet and kiwicouple and our thirty seventh find Big Grin. This one had us searching in quite a few locations but eventually located by kiwifeet. Ideal location for a cache T4TC.

31-May-09
Tearing around Tauranga today with Rosmar and Kiwifeet. Even with 5 pairs of eyes and 3 GPSs this one took a little while. Relief when Kiwifeet called out "Found it!"

# 403

11-Apr-09
Well, interesting, but a nice wee teaser on how to get to GZ which was fun. Hardest part was the battle to access the logbook and to get everything back into the cache again afterward due to the relative size of the TB crammed in there.
TFTC

03-Jan-09
