Find 5 of 9 on a short bike ride, picking up where we left off last weekend in Southern River and across to Huntingdale.Sent Mrs O in to the long grass for the finale here.TFTC WanderingAus!
A beaut day out for a cache or more! Axell33 and I followed the guide and found the clues as we went. The second one was a great hider and determined not to be seen, and we very nearly gave up on! Thankfully we made it through. Happy to share that all the components of this multi are in good order, just a bit lonely these days. Thanks for the great cache WanderingAus.
Enjoying a beautiful day for caching we set our sights on this one. Waypoint 2 took us awhile to find but Leega spotted it. We worked our way through the stages and made a nice quick find at gz. We added our names to your log and returned your cache as we found it. Very well sorted multi. Its always nice to do a welfare check on one that hasnt been found for awhile and happy to say this one is doing just fine. TFTC WanderingAus.
Quite a nice multi.
This is my 4944 find.
Thank you WanderingAus for placing and maintaining this cache.
Geology rocks but Geography is where it’s at!

Enjoyed our journey around the river and collected the final coordinates easily.
Made our way through the scrub towards the final GZ where SirFancy made the find.
Thanks WanderingAus for placing WanAus 19 - Suspended In Time MK III for me and others to find.
I added my name to the log at 17:31 on 21/7/2023.
This is find number 7509 for me.

Out and about again, a couple of small showers in the evening, but it didn’t slow down the Cockburn Crew from their exploits - Friday night for a change.
Found a variety of hides and in different areas which made for a nice day. Generally quick finds today
Thanks to all the CO’s for the hides I found.

Out on a caching run with the Cockburn Boys. Thanks to all the hiders for their placements.
Cache was in reasonably good condition, but some of the WanderingAus drab camo was peeling off. One of the sides was totally paintless. Cheers WanderingAus!

Was a very nice walk and managed to find all the way points to finally get to the cache point. Only problem was that it’s in the middle of deep bush land. Aussie wildlife isn’t the friendliest so avoided it completely.
As logged by Kapelula and I C Nothing Wp3 has suffered "Tree cut down" problems. As I am relaxing in Albany after maintaining some of my South-West and Great Southern caches I can't fix it right now. I will be back by the end of March 2021, and until then you get a Freebie:
Needed a bit of a hand with the numbers at waypoint 3, we think the host may have been cut down. Found whilst out on a caching day with I C Nothing. TFTC!
Out for a day caching with Kapelula in the gosnells area. All caches found easily and in good condition. Thanks to all the co’s for placing these caches for our enjoyment.
Wp3 we had trouble with and needed to paf due to ? Tree cut down.
Found gz with good size cache.

A nice cool morning to be out and about gathering the required info.
A quick find at GZ.

WanderingAus wandered by on a maintenance run, and found only one plastic Dymo tag attached to the tree. I added two galv strips nailed to the tree, with the number punched into them.
Finally found it! Lots of attempts and kids needing to go home and stop searching. Nice big cache, very satisfying for junior cachers
WanderingAus wandered by on a maintenance run, and replaced the missing tags at Waypoint 4. There are now three plastic Dymo tags attached to the tree in various places.
Hi. I was discouraged when i find this at waypoint 4. Is this where the tag was or did i miss it?
Headed out with B12 to grab a few caches as i was already in the area visiting my mum in gosnells. This is one of those caches that ive always been meaning to do but never got around to it. Another multi im finally glad to get a smiley on TFTC WanderingAus
Out with mrs ooh yeh to cleanup a few multis near to my work and her mother’s place. Came up trumps on both of them. Been a while in the making these finds.
A fun multi here, after visiting the listed waypoints we headed to GZ, a nice quick find and a smilie is claimed TFTC
Yeah. Found it again excellent walk
This morning. One mix up between g and j cost a bit of time but was soon hot on the trailagain. Freaky gz that I would avoid in summer. Tftc great multi.

Put this as #1 on this morning’s list so that we could do it while we still had some umph in the legs. A very enjoyable walk, all markers found in good condition as was the cache. TFTC WanderingAus
Certainly a bit of a wander required. Had to double back to WP1 to get the coords for the final, but found without trouble. TFTC WanderingAus.
My thanks to Michael And Carola AKA LAXA for replacing all the waypoints. The waypoint descriptions have been updated to reflect the changes, should be all good to go.
WanderingAus wandered by on a maintenance run, and confirmed that the magnetic strip placed by LAXA below the Ice Mystery Munzee is in place, under the bottom edge of the beam. I had prepared another magnetic strip just in case, so I placed that on the vertical face of the beam towards the concrete abutment.
With the permision of the co we replaced wp1 with two new magnetic strips and one metal tag each at wp2, wp3 and wp4. Happy hunting.
Came with family but they were restless before I found more than one magnetic strip. I trust they haven't been moved as LAXA replaced them today?
Tagging along with the LAXA Team when they replaced the missing way points
What a nice walk along the river.
Thanks for the cache WanderingAus

Spent a good hour on this one! There was one scrawl on the logbook when I got there but I didn't take a photo. "Officially" the cache hasn't been found in a year and a half! Wonder who logged it??
At the first WP I was unable to find anything despite looking at where the description said I should, then I decided to scratch around on the ground. Lo and behold there was a tag under a piece of detritus! I took a photo and calculated WP2, and off I went.
At WP2 one tag was broken, only the first and last numerals were visible, so I scratched around again and found two pieces of the tag, got the numbers, and photographed them as well. Then I decided to look at the tree next to it to find a full tag. Ha.
WP3 was a disaster area! A giant branch had come off of the big tree and there was stuff everywhere. It took a while to find the tag here but I finally spotted one.
WP4 was a little easier as it was fairly obvious where the coords were going to be. Found one tag and calculated the final!
Off I went and the cache was in my hands quickly. Amazingly it was a little damp, the log book and baggie were fine but the rest of it is all gross.
Thanks for the adventure here WanAus, though I think some of the tags could do with some TLC. And thanks, this is my last cache find for 2016!!

Thanks. The cache contains water so I took photos as well as attempting to sign the log.
Started this one a couple of months ago and hit a dead end at waypoint 3, I couldn't spot the tags anywhere. I went back a couple more times after rechecking my sums and still drew a blank. Then a find was logged on the cache so I went back one more time and still nothing, hmm, maybe LAXA had found the waypoint some time in the past and only just now went to find the final?
I emailed the CO for some help and he kindly went out of his way to go and check and informed me that they were still there. So I went back again the other day and what do you know I found one of the tags, I must have had my eyes closed on my previous visits. Jotted down the numbers to tackle the rest of this multi another day.
Today was that day, found the information at waypoint 4 quite easily and after doing the required arithmetic I saw that the final wasn't that far away so I went in search of the prize. Got to within 30 meters of my GZ and thought I must have made an error somewhere because I couldn't find a route to GZ that didn't involve trudging through some serious 'Joe Blake' territory.
I rechecked my maths and decided to bite the bullet and make a dash for it. As it turns out the grass wasn't that deep and I spotted the cache on approach. After doing the signing duties I found a much easier route out, (always the way!)
Glad to finally cross this one off the list, it's been a bugbear for quite some time now.

This one has been on our radar since we started geocaching as it is along a route we regularly walk, cycle and jog. Seemed fitting for our 50th find. So we took the kids out after dinner and did it in around 2 hours, including play and drink stops and whatever else you do out and about with 2 young once. We spotted the final cache from a distance as it wasn't very well covered. Luckily our kids are very good hider, hope it fits the standard now;-) TFTC
Found at 10:30. Been a work in progress getting each WP on weekly trips to the area... Finally got it! Cache was water logged but log and calling cards ok. Some of items and pencils might be past it. Dried out best I could and tucked away. Thanks!
Mrs iluvtrekking and I directed our geo-hubbies through the various waypoints of this multi. After dropping them at the listed co-ords we communicated with them via our cb, doing the calculations for them as they radioed in the newly found numbers. They had trouble at the first w/p but eventually found a tag in leaf litter on the ground. They cleaned the tag up, straightened it out and placed it at the side of the bridge. All other tags were located without incident as they worked their way through the 4 w/ps and then eventually made an easy find at gz due to spot on co-ords. Thanks WanAus.
Whoop de whoop!!! After finding the first couple of coods a few months ago we abandoned hunt. But after finding an earlier one of yours we thought we might be in the vicinity of a waypoint and lo and behold we were. Predictions were spot on before we had the coords!!! Yay us!!! Found with TRG Clan. Just letting you know inside the cache is wet too. Tftc Wan Aus you definitely have too much time on your hands lol!!!
Yippee!!! Found it! Thanks WanderingAus (Keith) Worked out the issue. Need to read the info. I thought the cache was at the bridge and did not read the part about the way points etc. I guess I should not of trusted an iPhone either. You may want to check the cache as it was actually full of water and the sharpener is all rusted. My son Rman333 took a trackable and will log and place at another cache soon.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
Hi, looked all over the place and nothing. Did not see the dymo markers anywhere. Will try again another day.
WanderingAus wandered by on a short maintenance run, after seeing the log on 07/04/2013 By kbinuk2005 "... My WP2 was about 500m away just over a bridge and a 15 minute search of nearby trees didn't reveal any further coordinate".
What can I say, "REALLY REALLY REALLY Shoulda gone To SpecSavers!!!".
I found the two green dymo strips on the two trees (one on each), and took photos to prove it. Considering that I stapled the green strips to the trees over three years ago it wasn't a case of memory, but an actual gpsr search, which located them for me, and it took 10 seconds to find the first and 12 seconds to find the second. Could it be that Magellan makes more accurate gpsrs than other makers??? The first strip is very faded, being over four years old, the second one is quite bright green, even though it's three years old. I've included an inset of the rusty staples to prove their provenance, and ALMOST forgot to blot out the numbers on the strips.
I've added two more dymo strips on two other trees, these ones are black. As I have pointed out for some of my other caches, any caches or related items which I place are always placed where they are least likely to be observed by the casual walker. What this means is "IF YOU CAN SEE A TREE FROM A PATH, THE ODDS ARE VERY GOOD THAT YOU NEED TO LOOK ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE TREE".

kbinuk2005 wrote "I didn't find anything magnetised".

I added two more magnetic strips (cut from the Darwin Library magnetic sheet, which I no longer need), one on each side of the bridge on that same cross-member, but these are on the vertical face towards the abutment."
Another cacher who "Shoulda gone To SpecSavers!!!", probably explains why WP2 wasn't found too, but I'll add it to my list.

It took a while to locate WP1; I didn't find anything magnetised but did eventually locate a dymo tape in the sand which I hid under the bridge under a stick 10cm from where I located it. My WP2 was about 500m away just over a bridge and a 15 minute search of nearby trees didn't reveal any further coordinate. It surely has been a long time between finds on this cache.
Ok ok we bought our glasses and found the points. Found the next coordinate but the magical geo kids were getting tired. So we will head out to finally find the end cache. It will not defeat us
WanderingAus wandered by on a short maintenance run, after seeing the log on 23/02/2013 By Magical Family "Been back 3 times and couldn't find code. The bridge seems to have been painted since 2011 so we think its gone. Please bring back it can't defeat us!!!".

The cache is STILL good to go - enjoy. There is also a brand new Munzee at the next cross-member, on the side furthest from the Southernwood Park Playground.

We started this cache quite some time ago and today we had incentive to finish it. We started where we left off and soon had a couple more waypoints under our belt. Found the cache shortly after in its nifty hiding hole.
We took a finder card, signed the log and collected the 4500th card that WanderingAus left for us.
Thanks Keith for another nicely put together cache.

WanderingAus wandered by on a maintenance run, and after checking all waypoints and fixing one which was wrong, couldnd't find the cache. I'll try to get it replaced in the next couple of weeks, in a new spot.
Got off to a good start but hit a glitch at WP2 so will continue at a later date.
GPS bounced around a fair bit with the trees and the heavy rain on the final waypoint but sucess with finding it! TNLNSL

Didn't find it in the dark last week, checked again today and it seems to be gone, so I've replaced it with a drab camo'd 450 ml round screwtop container.
Of course it may have just suffered from "cache creep", so if you find the original 2.5 litre clear
cliplock container inside a grey plastic bag include that in your log.

WanderingAus wandered by, replacing the waypoints as required. Waypoint 1 was missing, Waypoint 2 is still in place at the old coords and is still valid, Waypoint 3 was missing, and Waypoint 4 was still in place.
I was surprised to find the boom gate down, blocking vehicular access to the listed parking area. I've added an additional on-street parking waypoint.
Cache should be ready to roll again now.

A difficult GZ (because of tree cover), when all other points were reasonably simple to find. I found more than I wanted to as well. TN-L: Keyring, SL. Thanks to WanderingAus for the cache.
WanderingAus wandered by on a maintenance run to Waypoint 2. An over-zealous worker, probably from the Council, had recently wandered by and spray-painted the "metal object" to make it look nice and well-maintained, and the over-spray had concealed the South coordinates on the tag.
I've re-written the coordinates on the un-painted piece of tag, placed a second magnetic strip with the coordinates on a different spot on the "metal object".
Because this is the second time the coordinates have become un-readable I've also placed a blue Dymo tape with the coordinates on a nearby tree 21 metres on a bearing of 132° Magnetic from the "metal object".

Last one for the day as I was feeling a little hot by the time I finished. WP1 and WP2 found easily. Nearly gave up on WP3, no matter how hard I looked I just couldn't see the tag. And then there it was. I see a swarm of bees has taken up residence in the tree so be careful. On to WP4 and the cache. Again had trouble locating the well hidden cache.
Signed the log and off to get a cold one. Thanks for the series of caches around the Canning river.

WanderingAus wandered by to check the tags after reading the log by windybindy "had a little trouble reading the next coordinates as one lot of the numbers has lost its ink".
I have re-inked the coords at WP1 as well adding a new magnetic tag near it, and also added a new tag at WP2.
Happy caching,

Tried this one, found the first waypoint however had a little trouble reading the next coordinates as one lot of the numbers has lost its ink so I may have read it wrong. I will try this one again on a day that is not so hot and a bottle of water.
Maybe the first magnet needs some maintance.[?]

We did this one on a beautiful day after missing the time to meet our beautiful friend 'Jodi' at the airport. So to commiserate we took Amber for a good walk. It was a lovely walk and really enjoyed it.
We did take a reasonable amount of time looking for the point on the bridge. I am sure a lot of you will relate - I looked in that rotton spot at least three times. Then I obviously opened the eyes a bit wider and looked properly! Hey presto there it was.
It was a lot of fun. Thanks WanderingAus

I started this one last week, and was surprised to find that half way around this came very close to WA 17 & 18, which I hadn't found yet.
So diverted on a short detour, and then it got dark and my GPS ran out of batteries, so had to make a retreat to the car.
Came back today to finish it off, and spent quite a while searching at GZ, and luckily spotted a corner of the bag just as I was about to give up.
Took nothing left nothing, thanks for the cache!

I've replaced the bag with a heavier duty home-made grey plastic bag, hopefuly it will last a lot longer than the black garbage bags.
I wandered by to replace the outer bag, and while there I grabbed Chelmo's Crop Circle Geocoin #1 (ref = TB1CBZV) and dropped Spud502 Geocoin (ref = TB1A43C), also dropped my WanderingAus Happy New Year 2008 Gold GC (ref =TB231VQ) for a visit before grabbing it again to continue it's travels.
I did the previous incarnation of this cache, and got a bit bushed trying to make it a circular route instead of going back the way I came, so this was a better experience. However, I must try to read things better as I mistook the last WP as GZ (it would have been a very pleasant hiding spot!) and wasted time searching there in vain. Luckily I came across the prize at the proper GZ early in the search.
TN Left Chelmo's Crop Circle GC.
Thanks for another fine hunt, WanderingAus.
PS. This was my 600th cache!

Quite a nice bike ride to do all the waypoints. We only just found the cache as we nearly tripped over it on our way to leave just as we were abut to give up!!! TNLN TFTH
We probably didn't handle this one very well. After the WP3 we retraced our steps - even though the note it said it was circular and I'm sure it made it longer and less satisfactory. So I'd suggest to further cachers - follow the instructions. We found the cache itself by stomping around on the grass. The tree cover didn't give great accuracy and all the grass was identical. It is a pity because the rest of WanderingAus's caches were brilliantly hidden. I'm not keen on these needle in a hay stack caches. TNLN TFTC
There probably is a bridge a little further on, but we didn't think to risk it and went back and around instead.
A somewhat frustrating search, amongst the tiger snake ideal habitat (although it's getting mashed pretty flat by geocachers now), and it was eventually only found by Bariloche doing the "stomp. stomp. Hollow Sound!" dance.
