Logs
Replaced! Logbook dried out and pressed flat, it's good to keep these oldies alive. Had a spare container exactly the same as the old one, so swapped it out.
Found with Angelic Kiwi today - winter has not been kind to this poor cache! Completely full of water, and the log book extremely slimy. Not mouldy though, and given it's an oldie, have brought it home to dry out. AK is going to look for a replacement container, and hopefully we can give it a new lease of life.
This cache is one of the wettest I've ever seen, the main part of the lid has completely detached from the part of the lid that attaches to the base, so it clips on nicely but then is still completely open, if that makes sense. As a result it was totally full of water, but we think the log book will revive after it's swim. Looks like the CO hasn't been caching for a long time, so we will replace the container it soon if we don't hear from the CO before then.
Original oldie log and container always gets a favorite point from me!I made my way up from the bottom. There wasnt the slightest bit of wind until I got to GZ then it was a full on gale! After a few minutes of looking, I found a good hidey ledge but no cache. I climbed on top of the rock to get a better perspective and spotted the cache about 10m downhill. It was in surprisingly good shape! The container is sunbaked and the top has collapsed but the log is dry and secure. I replaced where I think its home is. Photo sent to CO.
After walking up the hill we got to this cache. When we got the cache it was so windy !

A level 4 maintenance visit. This one is in my neighbourhood. All good. Somebody is fencing and planting small packets of land, which is nice.
Never seen this view of chch before very nice spot to enjoy some much needed sun after heavy rain last night. Slippery track and not wearing proper footwear makes for many mud slides down the hill.
Walked up from Bridle Path Road via the (closed) track. No problems getting to GZ but it was too cold to linger and enjoy the view. The cache was a quick find. TFTC.
Quickly found today on a walk with a chilly wind blowing, but good views. TFTC!
Good push up from Maltworks village. Easy find once we believed the map!!

A stunning view from here today and a lovely spot to sit and watch the world go by. TFTH

What a nice day out! I came out to this area on an FTF hunt (success!). How could I pass up the chance to do some more. Quick find at this one. On to the next.

We enjoyed our walk along the Kenton track today, starting from Rockview Place. It was sheltered from the chilly easterly along here and we had amazing views. Found the cache pretty quickly following the good hints. Tftc and thanks for showing us this walk!
Had a great hike up in the John Britten Reserve this morning and found several caches - great reason for the hike! Wasn't too sure exactly where this one was, and then looked up the hint which is very helpful. Thanks for bringing me up here - a favourite point from me, TFTC
Took us longer than maybe it should have as my muggle friend was warning about the instability of the rocls after recent shakes in Christchurch... made it in the end. Loved the view. T4tc
Somewhat windy as indicated by how the pine cones have travelled. An nice quick find but it's not tropical so no lingering to look at the view. Thanks for the cache. #3193
Lovely day for it. Got to GZ. Looked around. Checked the obvious place. Loved around some more. Broadened the search. Went back to obvious place. Looked harder. Ah! Thanks to all cache owners for taking the time to place and maintain your caches. Team Broadbent aka TB (prev known as BJ25). Find # 1788

Found on a dog walk.
Parked on the appropriately named Rockview Place and used the old beaten up access path to get to Kenton track. Some 400m uphill on a slippery muddy terrain and I could start looking for the cache. Jumped down on a rock and hurt my previously sprained ankle that was not too good. Had to sit for a bit and contemplate jumping, ankles, and all the stuff that happens in life.
Meanwhile Luna the dog had a tremendous time, running up and down the slope, playing with a pinecone and jumping all around. I wish I could do that without getting hurt what is what usually happens in that case.
Found the cache on the second search attempt at the hinted rock. A bit scary to imagine that the rock could suddenly move and crush your legs or something like that. Luckily that didn't happen.

Great to get out on the hill after a cold rainy week:-) enjoyed your commentary of how to find, particularly the finding the ‘pleasing plateau’! Today it is a particularly pleasing view! TFTC:-)

It was a beautiful day, and I wanted to make the most of my last week of maternity leave. So I decided that I should really tick off these caches off my unfound list. My main aim was carabiner city, as it filled a gap in my DT grid to filling it twice over! But with 4 other caches in the area, planned a bit of a loop about.
My mother in law was around too, having just flown in from overseas so asked if she wanted to come join, great, so a nice wee walk was planned!
Walked down to here from Beckenhem cubs, before headed back up the hill for the rest.

Had the afternoon off work, so what better way to spend it than heading to the hills geocaching. A nice wander to the GZ today, and the cache was signed. Thanks for the cache.
Sure felt like a mountain goat, or I should really say a sheep in this neck of the woods. Superb location and nice easy find. Staying nearby, so a perfect end to a perfect GCing day! TFTC
I have decided it is about time I start clearing my "too lazy" list, so today a walk up in the hills after work seemed like a perfect idea. It took me a while to figure out the best place to start walking from, after realising I wasn't going to be able to cut across the obvious bit of clear land nearby, I parked up in Rockview Place and walked a loop, returning via the stile onto Longridge Drive. Glad to finally be getting smileys for caches like this. TFTC (3407)
Lovely walk up from Bridle Path Road. Says track closed but it is definitely being maintained by someone! Tftc
Trying to get a few caches in the area, pleased to find this one. Didn't prepare myself properly, it was raining when I started and now the sun is shining and I fear I have sunburn. Tftc! Picked up trackable.
Second of the day. Was easier than I expected after reading of details. Thanks for this one.
Our very first cache find! Lucky for us it was possible to find with instructions and hints, as I hadn't got gps running yet. Most enjoyable!

Find 03 of 04 for the day and #1754 in total.
Rocky area but we got the cache no problem once we were in the right area.
Our biggest problem was finding the track. Even though we got the cache we still have no idea where the trail was
Echo 1 - Spice 2

Headed out with Noeynel, the usual weekend cache hunt. Found this one before it started to get too hot, thank goodness, took the wee geomutts and headed down the track towards this one. Great start to the weekend found rather quickly signed while enjoying the view. Cheers.
Had a detour on the way home today to enjoy a bit of the sun. Soooo lovely, after the rain over the last few weeks. I parked up one of the roads in the Ridges subdivision and made my way down to GZ. It was wet and slippery. Could see the snow capped mountains and the gondala was doing it's thing. Great afternoon. I made my way to GZ and had a quick look and found the cache. Great spot. Could hear the hum off the Lyttelton Tunnel motorway traffic. It was so still. I am the first visitor in 10 months. Shame, such a great spot. I must be to lax as I wouldn't hesitate to bring my two cachelets along this way. This cache also satisfies a ticked box for my 'date placed' matrix, love ticking boxes. Found a great cache container on the way back to the truck.
Thanks for the cache and great spot for viewing the plains.

Visited this cache this week. The area is apparently open and so the cache is enabled. Please be careful.
An easy find when you get to the right spot but there are a few houses in the way when you approach it from the road. TFTC
This is my cache and I'm content to leave it disabled until the area is officially opened again.
When I saw there had been a couple of recent logs I thought I'd go and nab this cache that is so close to home. Found it easily, though I have to admit that I wouldn't have wanted to be at GZ in the even of another decent aftershock. The placement of the cache makes you feel a bit uneasy especially after seeing the rocks that have been dislodged at nearby cell-phone tower cache. I wouldn't encourage a visit unless you understand the risks associated. Still, I figure the earth has to stop shaking in Christchurch sometime. TFTC
We were up in the hills going for another cache, couldn't find it and then I saw this one. My GPS doesn't show that a cache has been disabled, so I thought I could get this one. It was a simple easy trek down to GZ.
Felt like a walk in the hills; and a lovely afternoon for it too. This cache is super easy to get to these days and, in my opinion, not dangerous at all. Park at the end of Major Hornbrook rd and you have a 50m walk through a paddock to the cache (you walk directy past the new house but on the public access land/paddock). A quick, easy find with great views....although the ever expanding subdividing up here will eventually alter the landscape somewhat. Cheers.
Used to walk all over this area as a kid, thought id come and check out how it was holding up and grab a cache on the way. New house just above it!!! Track is still in good condition and no rockfall up that high but I think the CCC have still got it closed. Hopefully it'll be re-opened soon!
With some time on my hands and being in the vicinity I thought I'd investigate access to this cache. Once I found an entrance to the track, I enjoyed a short walk up to the cache. The first part of the track is rather overgrown through lack of use and there are a few holes/cracks in a couple of places hidden by long grass. Otherwise no danger in my opinion. I didn't notice any spray painted rock. (It may have been removed or the paint has washed off?) The cache was easily located and all ok. TFTC.
Briefly visited this cache today. It's still there. The Geotech guys, who are making the hills safe, almost certainly found it because the rock it's hidden behind has been spray painted bright orange. I'm not sure what the paint means, but I'm satisfied the cache should remain off limits for the time being. The Geotech guys didn't sign the log
Disabled due to the earthquake. It's nearly at the top of the slope/cliffs, but it's unwise to be out here while aftershocks continue -- tonight's 4.5 in the estuary, for example.
First find on a long hike day right up to Nick's Nautical Nest, then down Mt Pleasant to Love Shack. Great view. Had to hurry my entry as a group of trampers also decided to use Kenton's Track this morning. TFTC
Found a park park reasonably close then pointed at a particular feature and said, it will be there, it was.
Cheers.
Cheers.
Thanks KiwiHarvs for the cache. What a great view from the park.
And at last we had a nice day for a walk in the hills.
We did this cache at the same time as the Rockery, Its a reasonable hike up hill (for us anyway) but worth the effort.

Great wee track... managed to ride down most of it.
Great views also.... TNLNSL TFTC.

A nice stroll around the hill. I'd say the cache had shaken itself forward in its hiding spot, which made things nice and easy. All was good though, TFTC.
Weather was not too good, but nice views into Morgans Valley. Took TB Mini on Tour, it has to move on.
Well its not the express way to the west highland way, but the area looks the same!
#1049 (3/3 on a warm nor west afternoon). Drove up to dead end of Major Hornbrook but there didn't seem to be access from there. Drove back to Rockview Pl and walked up from there. Cache was nicely hidden, with great views from GZ. Found the Kenton Track went through a paddock adjoining the end of Major Hornbrook, so let ourselves out through a farm gate (which we had driven right past earlier) and walked back down the road. TFTC.
The track from Rockview Pl was a bit overgrown in places - those metre high thistles were a threat to uncovered limbs, so was pleased to take the shortcut back and walk on the road back down to the car.
This is my 500th traditional cache find!!!!

We too found the easy driveway; so glad we did because other access looks difficult unless you are a goat! TFTC
The hardest part was finding the nearest point of entry. So after driving around the new streets we found we could almost drive to it.Albeit we had to climb a fence. And the cache was quickly found.Left a Green Frog as he will luv it up there because of the awsome view of our city.TN TFTC.
Lowered difficulty rating to 3 because I clearly overestimated the toughness when setting this cache. Plus, you can almost drive to the GZ, as sections above the cache have not been developed.
Caches close to us are getting few and far between now (Is that good or bad?) Had put this one off as we thought it would be harder than it actually turned out to be. Had an incentive to do it as we had picked up a TB that wanted to go to places with Kent in the name-England wasn't on our list of places to go this weekend so we thought Kenton Track traverse would do nicely. Dropped off JOSLIN TB. TFTC
Just thought to check the cache while showing the beautiful sight to my new flatmate. - Everithing fine and we were not the first today. A nice little TB found its way in here and will start again right away .

Beautiful lil' walk & not as bad as I had psyched myself to believe it could be. However weather conditions were perfect today - warm, no wind, dry track so all good! Great location to visit, thanks! #581, 4/6
After doing Cell phone lookout went down the track to this one as it seemed close and turned out to be an easy walk there. I was a little of with the searching at first but soon as I saw the clue I new I had the right place. TFTC
Really nice little cache! It's a pity, that there are so few cacher coming along this nice track!
