Out and about today with Beardman75 and Crookedpete. We got to this location via a clockwise loop starting at the base of Mount Philp. Lots of cool things about the day. Perfect walking weather, great company, trig station remains, geocaches, great conversation, splendid views, and more. There was one mishap though, I left my walking pole at this cache, haha oops! A great day out, thanks for the cache Cheers
I arrived at the car park just as CrookedPete was about to leave. He agreed to wait for wayn0 and I to hike together. We completed the circuit in a clockwise direction and arrived here after several hours where we made a quick find. Thanks for the cache grahamf72
Regarding my hike, I set out with [Brislions](https://coord.info/PRW5NVN), [GreenGecko1](https://coord.info/PR1Q82V), [GurTheWanderer](https://coord.info/PRWMPWQ), [kolour](https://coord.info/PRDR6H9), [monkey maker](https://coord.info/PR84CDV), and [Muggle65](https://coord.info/PR10G2R0), departing from the Casuarina Camping Area trailhead just after 07:00 hr. Our hike consisted of an anti-clockwise circuit ascending initially to Glen Rock, and then continuing around the ridge, visiting Red Rock and Mount Philp before descending to our vehicles. We ended up walking a total distance of 16.6 km across an elevation of 1078 m, with a moving time of 4:25 hr and a total time of 6:55 hr, as per my [Strava record](https://www.strava.com/activities/11031862880). The weather provided a patchy drizzle during our walk, although we caught glimpses of the picturesque valley and surrounds. Conditions weren't ideal, yet I loved aspects of this hike concerning its hidden section, technical rock scrambles, and challenging terrain (thus I would happily do this again in better weather).Despite the inclement weather, there were still some great views of the valley, and they got better as we ascended. We may not have had the best weather, but I still thoroughly enjoyed the area, so I can only imagine how nice this would be under sunshine. As we neared GZ, the cache was found without too much difficulty, and the cache container and logbook were in good shape. It is always nice to find an ammo can, and I discovered a TB that had been retrieved from this cache. Thanks grahamf72 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. It was nice to have found this oldie 12/2007 hidden cache, of which is one of Queensland's 1000 oldest yet active geocaches. It was also nice to have found this cache with 538 days [17.7 months / 1.47 years] of unfound love since its last find on 3/10/2022. ---------- Today, it was an early morning start hiking Glen Rock and Mount Philp circuit in Main Range Conservation Park and National Park and attended [Glen Rock Saunter](http://coord.info/GCAKZQC). Arriving back in the early afternoon, I then visited a nearby rock art site [Chalowong](http://coord.info/GC57X5F) followed by a few small cemeteries within the vicinity. With continued dreary weather (rain), I returned home, visiting Minden along the way.
After spending a night camping out, so we didnt have to raise to early. Even with the wet weather will still had a good day. Thank for the company I had on this walk. Lucky for me I had a change of clothes in the Ute. I was quite wet.grahamf72 thank you for placing and maintaining this cache for enjoyment of the caching community.
Needed to stretch the legs this morning so decided to take a stroll up to this one before breakky. A nice easy find in the company of a few other morning walkers.Tftc
Climbing with a group of 8 this morning with the agenda of walking the circuit. Its been drizzling and so making the climb a bit more difficult. The cache was an easy find at GZ.
Up with the group for the event today. Signed the log on. The way up. My hands are so cold. I AM GUR
Today I managed to talk my husband into joining an event at Glen Rock organised by Davidwazza and attended by GreenGeckos1, Muggle65, Brislions, Gur the Wanderer and monkey maker. I have wanted to do this walk for some time, so a good opportunity and some caching too. We ended up doing a circuit walk of about 15.5km on a cool drizzly day. The scenery and company were both great. Theres a pretty well defined trail up this ridge, so we were soon at gz where the cache was quickly found. Logbook signed by all and replaced as found. A fp. Tftc
We didn't choose the best day for today's walk. It was very cloudy and drizzling for most of the walk which reduced the views quite a bit. The walk was still fun as the water was still being held at bay by wearing newish boots, gaiters and my brolly. Great crowd to walk alongside with Muggle65, Davidwazza, Gur, Kolour and hubby, Brislions and Monkey Maker. Thank you for keeping this quite old cache alive.
What an amazing hike.
We found the trailhead easily thanks to the waypoints provided and headed off through the long grass. The path soon opened up an became much steeper. The recent rains have made parts of the track a tad slippery, but nothing too extreme.
After winding our way up an admiring the great views we found the cache in good order, looked at the old burnt log booked, signed out names in the replacement log and sat down for a breather in the cool shade and breeze.
Thanks for the Cache and the awesome adventure!

This was a new area for us, have never been down this way so took our time looking around before starting the hike. The start of the track is very overgrown but we could follow a flattened path up to the 4wd track which was clearer to follow. The views were pretty impressive even after only 20mins of walking. Wound our way up to the GZ and found the cache easily enough. Signed the log and replaced as found.
Because we started the hike a bit late we decided to tackle the summit another day. Had a great hike, this one earns a favourite point. Tftc

This was a very steep climb. Lots of overgrown grass, you wouldnt even know there was a track here. Still picking the grass seeds out of my shoes. Great views
This was an interesting hike. Firstly had trouble finding the trailhead as the grass was waste high. Started off on the wrong track until we realised out error so we climbed a steep bank and found the correct track which was still heavily grassed.
The track eventually opened out and it was easier to find although it continued to be steep and the shade was sparse.
We ended making it to GZ without incident and pretty soon the cache was in hand.

A day off for my boyfriend so I chose this cache and the other cache nearby as some thing to do and a challenge for both of us. Grass at beginning of the trail was 1 meter high, with the trail not been used in a log while.
We met the Rangers who were very friendly, and one knew about caching. We showed the map to them and they placed a sign up about a certain virus.
We had to use a dead stick to put aside several Golden Orb spiders aside and trekked on toward Gz.
Unfortunately due to the November bush fire the container and inside of the container were in pretty bad condition, with the seal of the box melted.
No swaps or log book left either. I replaced the log book with a few pieces of paper, and placed a trackable into the cache. The pieces of paper are inside a Emirates First Class Pyjama bag and I also placed a toy in as well.
We re camo as per description on cache page.
Thanks for the hike.

Sunday. This was our first cache collected today. It was a tad cool on the way to the parking co-ords today, after having gone down a road where suddenly, the temp gauge dropped to zero in the car indicating that was the outside temp. Frost was aplenty, it was even on top of the camels as we stopped to take pics of them. We only had a short way to go before we reached the parking co-ords which was our starting point for today. I was expecting just this one cache, but noooo, I was told that we would be heading up to collect another cache and would be heading all the way to the top. Well, in that case, I’m taking my jumper off now, before we start. It was a bit cool but only for about 2 minutes into the walk. Even the frosty grass brushing against my legs didn’t feel too cold – luckily. We started off quite quickly, heading up the obvious path. The terrain became somewhat steeper, although not too bad really.
The grass vegetation in this area is brutal – it looks like Cobbler’s Pegs, but has barbs in both ends and when I tried to pull the seeds out, they stuck fast and then I got the barbs in my fingers. Purely due to the type of clothing I was wearing however, as I noticed no one else’s pants suffered the way mine did. The walk was lovely in the cooler weather (on the way back on the well beaten path, a couple of pockets of hot air hit us, despite the chilly start to the day). We had amazing views all the way up to the cache which was quickly located and all our group’s geonames added to the log. All in good order with the container and log book. Lots of photos taken on the way to this cache.
This was the 1st of 9 caches found on today's trip.
Thanks ***grahamf72***, for showing us this place.

What a fabulous half hour warm up it was, getting to this cache!
I was happy to be able to be part of the nifty nine who met today to clamber, climb and crawl our way up to Glen Rock. It stretched the old leg muscles out, that's for sure. I think it was around this cache that I ditched the thermal layer... I had warmed up plenty!
Thanks for placing this cache here and bringing us to this fabulous location, grahamf72!

No idea what to expect of this hike. I just joined the group seeing I always have a good time hiking with them. This was not an exception. Except it was -2⁰C when we reached the meeting point. Ha ha...
TFTC grahamf72. Nice to have a pit stop on the way to the nearby multi. We sang happy birthday to Beardman here too.

**Bucket List Cache**
I have ridden a mountain bike up and down this area (well down in the valley ) a couple of times and each time this little hill has been calling for attention. So after what seems years on the bucket list today was the day.
[Glen Rock National Park by Bike ](https://blog.neilennis.com/index.php/glen-rock-national-park/)
During the last week I had put the call out for victims to accompany me to seek this cache and the one above which looks down on this cache. Picking the shortest day of the year also seems to have coincided with the coldest day of the year with temperatures in the valley well below freezing and obviously for a couple of hours judging by the frost on the ground, so cold that a couple of camels in a paddock had a healthy layer of ice across there backs.
With in a flash we seemed to have made it up to this part of the mountain and the cache was soon in hand.

These caches were barely on my radar when Ruzzelz suggested a visit. But they looked like they would provide a good day out so I was on board. It was quite chilly when we arrived with frost on the camels' humps. It wasn't unpleasantly cold though and I soon peeled off my first layer. We reached this cache much quicker than I expected and made a quick find. I find it amazing that it has so few visitors although I did note that there is a name in the log from October 2018 who has not logged it online. Thanks for the cache and the hike
An early morning start from home to be ready for a 0800 start.
The car indicated -1 as we drove in. Surely a chock to the system.
As soon as we got going it warmed up and it was a welcome break to log this cache.
Thank you for hiding this cache grahamf72

We hiked to the top of Glen Rock today and as we passed this cache we stopped to check it - it hasn't had a visitor for a while.
All is in great condition
We've already found this cache in May 2014.

Today i set out to get these couple of caches out here. I was dragging the chain a bit this morning so i didnt arrive until 10. Oh well easy does it. It is extremely warm here today. Sun screen lathered on plenty of water and powerade. Up and up and up i went. Nice easy find . Tftc no to continue up even further
This was my first foray back into geo-hiking after a few months off with better things to do than spend time with the Bromance. After a discussion through the week to find a suitable walk, some blabbermouth in the group decided to open his big mouth to invite the entire village to come and watch me struggle up the hill. I did not disappoint.
We headed off to the launching point passing frosted grass and gurgling streams, and were surprised that people had actually camped the night here. After deciding the facilities had an dour distinct unto themselves, we headed up the hill. The concept of incline percentages is a valuable measure, but it is not a "eigenvector" of the enjoyment gained from climbing them in any sense. I was happy to finally reach the cache, and be able to rest again. After venturing further up for another cache we finally came back past this one. I couldn't believe we still had so far to go down. By this time my calves had gone tight as a clam, and my thighs were on fire. I was very relieved to get back to the cars.
Thanks for bringing me here - Bonus points for me for sure from the rest of the team!

Swellerfungus M.B.A. (Master of Bugger All) had finally returned from his studies and outback adventuring, and taking a leaf out of the Crookedpete book "How to Gain 3 Dress Sizes in Only 12 Weeks", had come back from his spell in the good paddocks rather out of peak hiking form. So, with the help of the J.E.F.F. App "Bootcamp" module, a fitness regime was drawn up which included today's hike up Glen Rock. Stairman1, Goldielover, Walandor and Crookedpete were also in on the action today. Ladysim, whose request we had all accommodated for a later start to the day, was notably absent and still tucked up at home in bed in her onesie. After breakfasting at the Gatton bakery with coffee and sausage rolls, and Crookedpete's "breakfast of champions" creambun, we headed off to Glen Rock. It had been cool but not cold standing around at Gatton but by the time we reached the valley leading in, there was mist rising off the creeks and a good helping of frost on the roadside. A look at the car's temperature guage revealed it was only 1 degree and down to 0 by the time we reached the car park at the bottom. Crookedpete had to complete the first movement of the "2nd Coffee Symphony" before we were able to head off on our way up the hill.
It didn't take long to realise that as well as the loss of fitness, Swellerfungus had also acquired a 3-pack-a-day smoking habit, judging from the huffing and wheezing being emitted along the climb. We weren't setting any land speed records today but it was a great opportunity to spend as much time as we did enjoying a perfect winters morning, not a cloud in the sky, and barely any haze which meant we could see for miles around. Upon reaching GZ Walandor made the find, and after signing our name it was time to continue the journey further up the hill. TFTC

A call out from Seffnjarrah a few days ago asking if I could "get a leave pass for a hike" led to quite a few discussions with my wife. Just like the result of today's vote the result was in limbo for quite sometime. I eventually got elected and was free to attend. I voted early in the real election just in case we were not back in time. I too was surprised by the late start. Thanks to crookedpete for the lift.
I had a look at the caches on today's plan and was very pleased to see that they were both unloved. I only needed one more to complete the unloved challenge. I came close a few weeks ago but missed it by one day.
Being coeliac I made the difficult decision to pass on the good looking sausage rolls and ate some of my home cooked banana bread instead. I don't usually feel the cold but here wearing only shorts and a shirt I needed to pull out a jumper.
Much excitement when we stopped to inspect the frost. There was steam coming of the bush I went to inspect. Once we parked it was now zero degrees and I was only in shorts so walked around trying to keep warm. I knew as soon as we started the up I would be ok.
We followed the old vehicle track up and up and I enjoyed the few breaks to wait for the others. It is sometimes lovely to stop and enjoy the places you are in. It is also nice to reflect on how quiet it is without my 20 month old toddler around.
Cache was found without any drama and all in good condition. TFTC.

Found with Goldielover, Seffnjarah, swellerfungus, Crookedpete and Walandor. A last minute call out with an invite to join a small group on a little hill climb. With not much planned for goldie and I we quickly agreed to join the small band of hikers.
An early morning start, (well not so early start) had us at Seffnjarahs parking area where we were to meet up with everyone. (minus 1) and were quickly on our way. A short coffee break at Gatton, a stop to check out the frost on the ground and we were at the parking co-ords ready for the hill climb right in front of us. I decided I had better remove a couple of layers of clothing here because it looked like a perfect day for hiking.
There seemed to be a little huffing and puffing coming from different areas of the group but we all managed to get safely to GZ and take in some fantastic views.
Walandor quickly located the cache and now for a little more up hill climbing.
Thanks grahamf72 for a great cache. All in perfect condition.

As we finished our final cache last weekend, the Bromance onversation turned to planning this weekend. We needed a nice solid hill climb, challenging enough to keep the fitter two thirds of the Bromance happy, yet easy enough for Swellerlump to build his fitness without losing his breakfast along the way.
This cache was a perfect choice. A relatively late start by Bromance standards was organised to allow Lady Sim to get her beauty sleep. She was probably still sleeping when today's group, including Walandor, Goldielover, Stairman1, SeffnJarah and Swellerlump departed Chateau SeffnJarah without her.
After six months of strict dieting, I know when I can splurge. The morning of a solid hill climb is just one of those occasions. So I had no problem ordering an enormous cream bun at the Gatton Bakery. It was toasty in the car, but as we neared our destination, the mist coming off the creek and a cover of frost on the grass showed how cold it was.
After kitting up, it was a short walk up the trail to this cache, but long enough for everybody to warm up. Walandor made the find. Onward and upwards.
Thanks grahamf72

Found with stairman1, Walandor and The Bromance. An invitation was handed out for us to join the
Merry Men of Bromance for a nice hike today. I was excited to learn Lady Sim would be coming to cool down the testosterone in the group. However a nice warm bed and soft pillow was a more inviting option so it was up to me to battle all of the egos in our group. .
We opted to accept a ride in the chariot of SeffnJarah as stairman1 likes the look of the back of his eyelids when driving. After a quick stopover at Gatton to grab some sustenance we soon arrived at the parking co-ords and headed towards our goal. I had Swellerfungus to keep me company at the back while the more egotistical group raced up ahead. What's the hurry I say. We all eventually arrived at GZ and Walandor located the cache and added our names. Now onwards and upwards. Thanks for the cache

Received a message from Brother Colin that he was in Toowoomba and planned to head up this hill. I have wanted to do this one for a little and today was the perfect day. Packing the car firebreather03 and I left home just before 630. We all made our way done the range and arrived at GZ much earlier than planned. Heading off or maybe up and then up some more. Brother Colin had found this one earlier and kindly asked how much further after I had walked passed it. Looking at my phone, I was 25m passed GZ. Doing a quick u-turn i spotted it the hide quickly. This cache is in great condition considering fire has burnt many of the other trees nearby. This one remained untouched. A great hide and now to continue the climb to the multi. TFTC grahamf72
Day two of my little trip away. The new pop up tent had done the job. Plenty of room for me and my plush air mattress and it kept me warm and dry.
I set off nice and early to scale this beast this morning. I was glad of the first WPs as the track is very vague at the bottom. It soon opened up and was easy to follow though.
The grass was very long and very wet this morning, but it was not too cold, so I did not mind. At least the dew made the spider webs easy to see.
I made my way towards GZ at a steady pace, knowing that worse was to come after this one.
It did not take me long at all to reach GZ and the cache was a nice quick find once I got there. Nice view of the rock form here.
Thanks for bringing me to this lovely spot.

Wooohoooo! Found. It was a hike and a half, broke a sweat goin up, took about an hour, going down was a quick run, about 15 mins. Recommend wearing long pants due to overgrown grass and cobblers pegs. The trail starts to the right of the display/information hut, it's hard to see(looks like a goat track).

Today we spent New years Day here with family and friends picnicking and swimming in the creek - this cache looked down and teased us but with 4 geokids under 7, we really need to wait till they are bigger or come camping with friends and get them to watch the kids while we go for a hike
We will be back
We will be back
I could start with "what she said"...
Mrs Esky has talked about doing this cache area for a while, and after locking in the date, arranging babysitting for the little Eskies, we headed into the wild to climb another hill.
Took the usual left instead of right turn and wandered off on a great track that went the wrong side of the hill. Checked GPS and decided we needed to be "over there".
Once back on track, we enjoyed the views and the climb to the cache. I'm not climbing hills without having my own name in the log book, so we both signed and added our first August souvenir.
Amazing views of the new creek bed, can only imagine what it must have been like to see in full flood.
thanks for bringing us up here! TFTC

I love this valley. I (Mrs E) worked through here both on the Mt Sylvia Rd side and the Lefthand Branch Rd, at times on a daily basis before children. The furthest I went then was just past the pecan farm - such a beautiful spot!! A few years ago friends brought us here for a picnic...but with numerous small children we picnicked and explored the dry creek bed. A very different place today due to the devastation of the floodwaters.
Anyway, I have been wanting to do this one for a while but due to the roads being cut have had to wait. A the end of June I thought of this one again, wondering if it was accessible....only to discover that a group assault had been made only the day before!! Motivation increased a couple of days later when another cache popped up here.
In typical Eskies style we missed the trail and added an extra half hour detour to our walk. Soon on the right track we made quick time to this one. What a great view of the rock...gulp!! That's where we are off to next! We added our names to the nice, new, clean cache...thanks Fangsoki.
Thanks grahamf72 for bringing us up here. A fav point from us for the view.

Along with the group that consisted of Tassiegirl13, Pprime, Bulldozer72, La Kedi, Sweet_bee, Fangsoki, Team Herbz, Lat&Long Junkies, PigWig2, Captain Terror, and I we all ascended upon the mountain at Glen Rock National Park to walk up to this cache.
Tassiegirl and I had camped the night so we didn’t have as early a start as some of the others. Everyone soon arrived at the parking co-ords and we headed off in the direction. The start of the track was a little hidden by all the long grass at the start. We followed the GPS arrow and it soon had us on an old fire trail that was easy to make our way along. By easy I mean easy to see, the up part however was challenging.
A couple of stops were had along the way but that was good as it gave us all a chance to take in the surrounding area and grab a few photos.
Once at GZ the old cache was quickly located and the log book passed around. The container was a bit battered but Fangsoki who’s always prepared had a nice shiny new one ready to replace it with.
All up this was a very enjoyable walk with some wonderful views along the way. A couple of us continued up to see the top but we wouldn’t have probably considered coming out here if not for this one so TFTC Grahamf72.

What a special part of the world. Meeting in the car park, we headed off to find the track - no, not through the gate at all, but rather, head up the side of the hill. It was a slow trudge up the rather steep incline but the views were a good excuse to stop and catch your breath.
As sad as it was, the view would have been spectacular watching the swollen Blackfellow Creek roar through this valley. I can not imagine what it was like. The noise would have been something else again.
The picnic area and the camping areas are both pretty areas and have been regenerated well.
I was ever so thrilled to work out that what I was watching was a pair of bower birds playing in their hidden bower. Ever so special and especially being able to show Joy some of Australia's special bird life.
Lots of birds came and went while I sat having a cuppa waiting for the others. Thanks for the wonderful company on the day.

I'd been looking forward to this wee hike with mates for a while, but a recently sprained ankle had me wondering if I'd make it... Strapped tight and with two hiking pokes and supportive friends, I'm glad I decided to have a go as it was an enjoyable find. The road into the area was adventurous, so being a passenger in bulldozer72's truck was a better option than my fragile car, and more companionable too, as we ferried a few other friends across the rocky creek bed, too. The day use area had a lovely nature trail ad best of all, a bowerbird nest with a pair of bowerbirds; so gorgeous to see! The registration hut was scenic, and although the trail wasn't immediately obvious (thanks for the waypoints), it wasn't long before we emerged from the grasses and seeds to find a clearer track. It's hard to imagine they used to drive up here, though! I'll admit I found the climb taxing on a wobbly leg but enjoyed the views of the valley and surrounds. I opted to return to the carpark after the find while others searched for a way to the top and the rock itself, where three of us sat and nibbled and chatted while we waited for the rest to return. Overall, a lovely day, so thanks for the excuse to come out here and TFTC, grahamf72. =^.^=
Leaving the Gold Coast at Sparrows we met up at 8am with our hiking group consisting of Mr & Mrs LatLong, La Kedi, Capt Terror, Fangsoki, Sweetbee, Tassie Girl, Pigwig2, Pprime, Bedmaker & Bulldozer73. Quite a merry band of 13 in fact. It was supposed to be 15, but 2 of our party found themselves chronologically embarrased after an full blown alarm clock fail event. ..oh dear.
After a bit of faffing about attempting to locate the trailhead, we headed upwards following the faint track which soon widened out into a good fire trail following the ridgeline. We took it easy, stopping a few times to catch breath and chat a bit.
In no time at all, it seemed, we arrived at GZ, where a rather sorry looking container was held aloft for all to gaze upon.
Fangsoki, the ever resourceful fellow he is, just so happened to have a nice shiny new ammo can ready to freshen up this great hide. So all is good and happy here now.
Foolishly, some may say, most of us decided to continue up to the summit. But thats a different story altogether, for another time and for another cache. TFTC grahamf72.

I had never set eyes upon this cache until a few weeks ago. It was just a part of the world I had considered.
I was looking for a cache that a cross section of us could all do - and this one seemed to tick the box. I love long lost caches. It's a pity I wasn't a bit quicker off the mark. Oh well
A group of us consisting of Bedmaker, Tassiegirl13, Pprime, Bulldozer72, La Kedi, Sweet_bee, Team Herbz, Lat&Long Junkie, Mrs Lat&Long Junkie, PigWig2, Captain Terror, and I all grouped up down to the bottom. We all kitted up.. and Mr Herbz made a very unpleasant smiley face from the donation of a few cows [xx(] and we set off.
It was a mostly overcast day thankfully as we pottered through the long grass to the track.. then it went up.. and up.. and up.. and pretty much just kept going up.. and up.. and up We were treated to some splendid views on the way. The more un-fit of us among the group were grateful of the stops to take pictures and such.
Thankfully, the numbers started to go down.. and the last hundred meters or so wasn't so bad. We finally arrived at GZ to find a container. As reported the container was cracked - from too many dropped rocks we suspect.
It would be plain rude not to assist the cache owner. So I donated an ammo box to the cause. Captain Terror consolidated everything and we signed the log. We removed the old container and binned it.
We did go onto the top - for more views.
Many thanks to Grahamf72 for showing us this area - and showing us a place we had never been before. TFTC

An invite for a group hike had us up bright and early and on our way to the parking area. Picked up some fellow cachers on the way in as they had decided not to attempt the detour around the roadworks in their cars.
Pretty soon everyone had arrived and we set off with much banter and misdirection. Said banter quickly turned into deep breathing for the less fit of us, but the excuse to stop and enjoy the view at every turn in the track was welcome. So up we climbed and sooner then anyone expected arrived at GZ and found the old mangled container.
Mr Fangsoki produced a new container and we all signed the log. The rest of the group then continued up and up and up while a few of us returned to bottom.
Being one of the first back meant we also had first go at all the yummy food that had been lovingly made by a few of the wonderfully talented fellow cachers.
This was a great little hike, thanks for showing me another part of the world that I never knew about. TFTC

It's not that far from home here, but not a spot I had ever paid much attention to until an invite to walk up here landed in my inbox. Of course I will! It was surprising to me, just how close this spot was from Cunningham's Gap and Allora, but yet so jolly far by road!
And so this morning, in Fangsoki's 4WD with Pprime and Sweet_bee we headed on down through Gatton and along the road in. The floods of years gone by have not been kind to this valley. Evidence of massive landslides and erosion litter the whole area. It's quite amazing now, but I bet very destructive back then. Also, we passed a pecan farm, I can't say I've veer clapped eyes on one before. Closer into the National Park a few others in the group had to leave their 2WD behind and get ferried across a temporary, very bumpy, rocky ford over the creek.
We all met up in the carpark - myself, Fangsoki, Pprime, Sweet_bee, Herbz x 2, Lat&Long Junkie, Mrs.Lat&LongJunkie, Pigwig2, Bulldozer72, La Kedi and, having stayed the night prior Bedmaker and Tassiegirl13. Right, not far to the geocache, we set off.
Not everything should go perfectly and so we had some confusion as to where the track actually started, and it seems what looks like an old road heading uphill near the information hut was the way to go. being the youngest and tallest in the group, I really had no issues getting up the hill. A nice track the whole way, a cool breeze blowing from the east, patchy skies and superb views to clear the mind as we went.
As we got closer, the steep levelled out and after a few turns, we were very close. I think everyone took a different route to get to the geocache, but we had all made it within a minute or so of each other. I was happy to spot the geocache and plucked it out for all to admire. As had been noted, the container was a bit sad. The lid cracked and the contents mostly drenched, some mouldy. The poor logbook was a write-off. Fangsoki had come prepared and so with his ammo tin, a logbook and a few of the swaps from the original hide, we made a new geocache out of it. The logbook was signed and the container hidden away where the sistema had been. That should last a bit longer for future finders. Of course, we removed the old container and it's wet contents - I believe La Kedi did the heavy lifting to get it back to the carpark.
I happily made a few clicks with the camera - all those views of Glen's Rock beckoned! And then, along with a few other suckers in the group, decided to make the push all the way to the summit. This geocache was a great excuse to visit the area - certainly one I'd have never known of otherwise. I think I may even be back here again in future for more quiet time/another climb. TFTC grahamf72

What's this? Never heard of the place. In fact when Fangsoki first mentioned it I assumed he meant Glen Innes. No, not quite that far - although it did take a while to get here (and Google maps assumed it would be even longer). And the road reminded me a bit of the Pacific Highway[:o)]. This cache was our target. The group of likely hikers and hikerettes gathered in the post-dawn cool (not so cold though) - we had Fangsoki, Team Herbz, Bedmaker, Tassie_Girl, La Kedi, Lat&Long Junkie, Mrs Lat&Long Junkie, Pigwig2, Captain Terror, Bulldozer72 and Sweet_Bee. And me making lucky 13. After a short delay waiting for Gaz'n'Kab (who didn't arrive but we had no phone coverage to check) - we set off and immediately had to double back. Yes, the 'track' is not easily spotted right where it starts. It is not the one that looks like a track.
The weather was good for us, cool not cold, not hot. Sun not annoying or missing. And the track headed up at a decent angle. We took our time, a few rest stops here and there and really before we knew it we were at GZ. Quick find in the obvious spot, and the container got some love and care (with thanks to Fangsoki). The views from here are pretty good. The view of Glen Rock is spectacular, although I did wonder who this Glen is that rocks![:o)]
Of course we did head to the top for a better look of the views - but that's another story.
We were all pretty happy once back at the car parking spot because about the time we got there the clouds rushed over us and the rain fell (although only briefly - it would have been less pleasant at the top if that'd happened earlier). And by then our legs were happier too.
Thanks for placing this cache, grahamf72. Left in good condition.

Easter weekend 2nd-6th April 2015 in Stanthorpe, QLD.
What a great way to start our day. We got up at the crack of dawn and headed off. Last July we tried to come here but the park access was closed due to the January floods and lots of road repairs were needed. Still a bit of road work to do but the road is open now.
Glad we had the WP for the start of the trail as it's very overgrown with grasses. When we reached the next WP the trail was fairly obvious and easy to follow. (Note: I didn't say it was an easy walk.)
Wish we knew more about geology - such interesting looking and varied layers of rock in the cuttings by the trail. Some rocks look like they were once full of bubbles (like pumice) only it was heavy as.
Onward and upward we traipsed.
There lying undisturbed for over a year lay the cache. The lid is cracked and the logbook sodden. We slowly peeled the pages apart. We could make out previous log entries but we had no luck signing it as the paper just tore. We changed the plastic bags and left a piece of paper with our autograph.
What great views from here. Would we have hiked here if there wasn't a cache? Probably not.
So thanks Grahamf72 for a great mornings hike.

The day started out to be a big hike doing a round trip around the top of the ridges and if we had stuck to our original plan we not have gone to this cache. Checked the map, changed our minds and decided to go in the reverse and up past this cache. Well, it turned out I wasn't quite well or fit enough to complete the journey in either direction. So, thankfully there was a cache to make the day at least a bit successful. Will be back to do the hike another day.
Out and about on a late afternoon run down this way.
Well now it is dark....do I continue up the hill. [?] Of course I do. After a little over a 1/2hr hike uphill I approached GZ. After a quick search I soon had the cache in hand.
Thanks for the cache. It is dry and in good condition.

We were camping here for the start of the school holidays and had the place to ourselves. We didn't realise there was a cache nearby until we turned on the GPS to look at something else. Surprisingly, it was the youngest geokid who wanted to 'climb the mountain'. We started after breakfast and headed up, up, up. We were glad the cache was not at the summit. I don't think we would have made it that far! Where it was, was just perfect. Thanks grahamf72.
Thanks to the cache owner for refreshing this one. Found AOK on a cool but fine June day. The climb is worth the views up and down the valley.
I have no reason to suspect that this cache has disappeared. Given the location and method of hide, I am confident it would have survived the recent flooding. However the floods did destroy the creek crossings, so for the time being there is no access at all to this area, except maybe by helicopter or an extreme bushwalk.
My apologies to the recent finders, and thankyou to them for alerting me to the poor condition. I can't believe it's been 2-1/2 years since I placed this cache, time really flies. When I went to fix this up today I was embarrassed to call this my cache, so I feel bad for dragging the recent finders all the way up here to find a crappy, soggy cache.
I completely replaced it - new container (slightly larger Sistema this time), new bagged logbook & completely new bagged swaps. Copied the log entries that I could read into the new log book.

Nice day for a short walk, or so I thought. I should really read the logs before I attempt some caches. After huffing and puffing my way up and up and up, I finally found the cache, only to be greeted by a soggy log book and rusty swapables. Took some photos instead then had to slip and slide my way back down the mountain side on the loose gravel. Fantastic views and well worth the effort. TFTH.
Well it has been a time since someone has logged this cache so since I had the day off though I would do a trip out from Brisbane. Great winter days with nice clear weather. Found the cache easily enough. However it had around 5mm of water in the bottom of it and all the contents where soaked. The log is still in one piece but the geocaching introduction page was a mess that could not be saved. Dried out the cache contents and tried to dry out the log. Was there for around half a hour in the sun but it is still very water logged. Left a plastic bag for the log for the next person to put the log in if it dries out. When placed the cache back added some protection to the top of the cache so hopefully will not get and more water in it. Very nice location for a cache and would not have visited the area with out a cache being there. TFTC. NLNT
188 - Found at 9:26am. FTF in '09. Love this area. Fourth time here, third as campers and second as climbers of this nice, challenging peak. Nice easy find using the hint provided. It was a nice hike on a cooler, cloudy morning. We continued up to the top of the peak, reaching the summit of 836m (S27 53.430 E152 15.910) after a 2.8km walk which took us about about 2 hours after starting from the camping area. The climb to the top from the cache site would be at least a 4.0, possibly a 4.5 as it is on unformed tracks and very steep and rocky in places. It was only about a 35min walk to the cache from the camp ground for us. TFTC graham.
Great cache the kids loved the track up the mountain and nearly made it up to the top of the peak.
Not the easiest climb ive done, but it was worth the spectacular views.
This is my first 1st find, and i found it with KevL, my boyfriend pat and 2 friends. The drive out was awesome, very green.

Probably the wrong time of the year and to late in the morning to go climbing up there. Very hot and steamy by the time we got back to the car.The start of the track is very overgrown and the rest well colonized by Orb Weavers. The co-ords in the description will get you there though.
There is a walk that goes to the top of Glen Rock but that will be another time.
Left the bag of swaps at home again so took nothing, left everything that was already there.
