Questioning Our Sanity (Dunedin - Otago)Dunedin MEGA Sunday! More great caches to be found while exploring the beautiful Dunedin. Joining forces with some Queensland comrades, we hit the road, collecting great caches along the way. Signing our logs QLD + 1 to save room, we were pleased to see most of the caches had been recently maintained and enjoyed a great variety of hides and types.A massive thank you to all of the COs for the preparation, placement and maintenance of these caches. TFTC W.E.K.A.# 10665CheersWillis007

A plan was hatched quite a while ago when the Dunedin Mega was announced to come over to the South Island again.I have only been to New Zealand twice before and I loved the South Island. So a chance to come back for a Mega was a no brainer for me.Everything was booked and I flew in last Saturday after a bit of a delay. So a drive from Oamaru to Dunedin yesterday and I had finally arrived at Mega central Dunedin. So Day 7 of my Mega NZ trip begins and I have teamed up with Roaming Howie again so lets go find a few more caches around the area.We are planing on being on the Otago Peninsula for the day doing some Geoart and any other caches that we stop at.After a trip out to the peninsula we are on our way back so we can attend the event but there is always time for one more. Thanks W.E.K.A. TFTC.

25-Oct-24
Back home in Taranaki after a massive 5 days at the Dunedin Mega with MrMuggleNZ and its time to start logging my findsall 226 of themso wish me luck. Only 2 DNFs the whole time we were here so thats a testament to the dedication of the local cache owners and their maintenance prior to this event. Day 2A great one to finish off the day! Off to dinner then will con MM into some ad labs after hes fed and watered. (It worked and also a few more caches) TFTC

It's a great hide. I spent a couple of minutes looking a couple of metres. Then looked around a bit. Then realised where a cache might be. I'll come back here with my kids and we log the find then. They will love it!

Visiting from near Seattle and geocaching HQ. We arrived in Wellington on January 15. We quickly took the ferry to Picton. And have been playing tourist and caching around the South Island ever since. We arrived here in Dunedin today for a few days stay and to pick up a couple of November 2000 caches. We are staying nearby, so I took an evening walk to grab a couple of caches near the place where we are staying. This is a fun hide. Gets a favorite from me. Clever.Thanks.

13-Jan-24
Had a great day today cycling from Tunnel Beach all the way up to Larnach Castle. Picked up many caches along the way.Biked up the little small path to GZ which was almost impossible but somehow I managed. Took some time to find the right hiding place. Almost electrocuted myself first, it's not in the street light! Then found the cache, tftc!

14/9/2023 Find #6514
Day 6 of the Fangsoki/1MinnieMoo NZ adventures. We headed to the peninsula today as Fangsoki wanted a particular cache (which we didn’t end up achieving). Luckily I had a couple of other caches on the list while out here, and this was the last one of them.
We pulled the campervan up in the side street and made the short journey down to GZ.
I noticed the likely hide but did second guess myself and had to wait out a muggle wandering by as Fangsoki suggested that what I had seen would, in fact, be it.
Once they had passed, a quick check revealed that yes it indeed was what we were after. Nicely done.
Thanks for the cache W.E.K.A..

This is my fourth geocaching excursion to **beautiful New Zealand**! Big Grin
Due to Covid [xx(] I had to wait for 3 long years to again return to my beloved Middle-Earth [xx(].
This time its a road trip enduring for 26 days, covering both North- and South-Island. RazzCool
On this beautiful and sunny day Smile, the peninsula called for an urgent caching-visit Big Grin...
Made some beautiful finds Red Face.
This geo-treasure Cool contributed to the 'catch' of today. Cool! [^]
What an insane hide! Kudos! [^]
A big thanks to the owner W.E.K.A [:X] for the fun hide and for maintaining this cache [^] - and best regards from Germany SmileSmile!

02-Jul-22
With rebel98 on a whirlwind overnight stay in Dunedin Big Grin

Took a path less travelled, the long way, and probably the steeper way too. Found something just a little out of the ordinary, and was happy to see it was the cache. Very clever camo, can see why earned all these favs.

Thanks for the hide W.E.K.A. and for bringing us here

02-Jul-22
Cool find, live it, thanks, with rustynz

02-Jul-22
Took way too long to find but The 3 Hoiho’s have their first cache

29-Jun-22
It didn’t take me too long to find this - I must be building my geo-senses.

23-Jun-22
Day 2 on a Dunners trip with Tania. She needed certain cache grabs with myself tagging along nabbing some which I hadn't found as yet. Spotted the likely clever hide pretty quickly. Cache all good tftc

23-Jun-22
Cache 1043 Day 2 of my trip to Dunedin to fill in some of my “hidden dates” grid. with Wombats_4 still in tow we made our way around the back streets and hills of Dunedin, was a freezing cold morning after a decent frost last night but that wasn’t going to deter us on our hunt for the precious pieces of plastic treasure. No need to question our sanity here but geo senses maybe should be questioned lol This one should have been obvious at first glance but nooooo took a minute, cache is in excellent shape T4TC

12-Oct-21
Had seen a cache like this while up around Nelson in July. Though umm could this be another. Awesome surprise for grandchildren with me today. Fav point.
Thanks for a cool cache

03-Oct-21
Today it is a bit colder, so we decided to go around the Peninsula and stop for a few caches along the way. This was the first one. We dropped the Magic Peasant, who was keen to see his family in Dunedin. I am sure a local cacher can take him to his final location, as I am unsure where is family i exactly. Easy find, we love this kind of hides. Both container and logbook were in good condition!

22-Aug-21
Hidden in plain sight! That's the best clue I can give.

18-May-21
Hee hee I luv these PVC prison caches. Parked at the top and took a wrong path in the gloom and had to back track to the GZ. Noice one to find a dry cache worthy of popping in some swag and ticks boxes filling in the Jasmer grid too; regular sized caches do make up for all the park'n'grab pillcans everywhere. An apple tree leading back to the easier exit had some yummy apples to pick up. Scrambling down the slope to grab several more for the duffle, it really had me questioning my sanity lol but scrumped apples do taste better than the store ones ATM. Environmental science [s](https://www.geocaching.com/souvenir/?guid=881455d6-f857-43f9-a47e-1ef051d95770)ouvenir nailed. Marius Imperator and a Wery Quietlion visited. Have another fav courtesy of my luvly sponsor for the fun. Thanks for hiding a cache here Jen. **TSOD** 9pt

23-Mar-21
Genius, one of the most fun hiding spots I've seen in quite a while

25-Feb-21
Very crafty! Thought this might be it, but then thought - no, couldn't possibly be and besides, what might I find if it wasn't! So looked around where the GPS indicated I was close, then read the description carefully and decided to give it a go. And there it was. Never seen one like this before. Very good hiding and everything is nice and dry inside. Find #200.

13-Nov-20
Good hiding

10-Oct-20
Excellent hide. Easy to find but not if you don’t know it’s there. FP
TFTC!

31-Jul-20
I spotted something that could be a likely hide on approach but gave the area a cursory glance before investigating. Proved correct! My geo-senses are improving, maybe! Tftc

Cache replaced in slightly different position after repairs

30-May-20
Path has reopened, cache has been repaired and replaced, in a slightly different position.

12-Feb-20
The cache has now been repaired, but when we went to replace it, the area was still barricaded off, with unknown work still to be done, so we deemed it prudent not to replace the cache at present.

26-Jan-20
On checking the cache today, we discovered the container had been damaged, so have taken it away to repair. As it happens, the location is also temporarily closed at present.

14-Dec-19
Senaky!

27-Nov-19
I looked once, I looked twice and on the third time I found it. But the clue (not hidden) didn't help because it was hidden! Good luck!

17-Nov-19
Visiting from the UK. I did find it. Got fooled by casher tracks but did find the right one. Very ingenious. Quite a hike up the hill.
