Regrettably have to archive this one as I won't be in the area any time soon to replace the cache.
Dropped by this one recently to perform some owner maintenance. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. Someone has removed the cache contents, put them in an broken tackle box type plastic container and flogged the army drum, leaving the plastic container at the coordinates. Is it really that hard to drop by the local Aussie Disposals and purchase your own container? I thought the geocaching community was above this type of thing.
The cache is still at the coordinates but I've disabled the listing for the time being while I contemplate the future of this cache.
NOT HAPPY!

Well wasn't this an interesting cache and experience. I was up in the Hepburn Springs area for the nearby event today and had planned ahead of time to tackle the cache because frankly large sized caches are pretty rare, let alone ones that have lasted so long.
Luckily for me I hadn't read the description too closely before starting out because I may have decided that my Subaru XV was a little on the soft side to venture down the track. By the time I had any glimmerings of a second thought on this I was already well committed to traversing star track which for those prone to overthinking which track to take down the to the cache especially with the two reference points creating some second guessing is the track you want to keep going down until you come to a track which has a 'Private Road, No Access' sign tacked high up on the tree. I'm not sure how a public reserve has a private road smack bang in the middle of it but I (on this occasion) respected the sign.
Once you see that you should be about 20-40m away from the cache and can walk the rest of the way.
A previous finder recommended taking gloves as the container was hard to open. As someone unfamiliar with army drums I chose to heed the advice. Turns out it was damn good advice, being unfamiliar with the opening mechanism had me trying a few different things until I worked it out. Even when I knew what had to be done, the gloves were a good investment as the levers were pretty stiff and despite being covered with some natural cammo, the lid had accumulated some gunk in a little over 6 months.
All the contents were safe and dry inside despite evidence of muggles (beer bottles surrounding the cache) having a gander.
I could see how after a fair bit of rain you might want a decent 4wd to traverse the track but even after a very wet few months there was only a little muddy track with most being dry. The Suby handled it flawlessly and if you're careful I think even a 2wd could go down with only a couple of plants brushing the underside of the car.
Thanks Team Ninja. I now know how to open an army drum and if I ever skill up enough to multi-day bushwalk with a need for food drops I know what containers I'll be placing at suitable locations. Those drums sure are weatherproof!
Was well hidden by the previous family. Took over an hour to locate. GPS signal wasn't working to well. A great first find.

Out and about today with hubby and the geokids exploring between Blackwood and Daylesford. What a fabulous area. So many places for adventures! We approached this cache from a different direction and ended up on the wrong side of the ravine. Never mind - some more 4WDing soon has us at the right spot and within metres of the cache. A quick find here by hubby. Kids made some swaps and we exited back out through more flatter terrain. A fab cache container. Never seen one like it. Also happy to find this one has it has been more than 6 months since it has been found which gives it "unloved" status for another cache challenge. With growling tummies we headed off for some lunch! Thanks for the adventure
Travelling around Australia and staying a few days at Mt Franklin.
We headed into the freezing cold with a plan to attempt many walking trails.
The weather was pretty cold, we saw rain hail and sleet! Wow a day to remember.
Managed to drive through in our GeoCruiser. Wow what an awesome location and awesome cache container! Definite fave point.

Came in from Jubilee Lake road. Left the 2WD on top of the closest hill and had a hellava walk up and down slopes and across ravines to get to GZ. Fumbled around off to the north of GZ before common sense kicked in. Then realised I was looking for a sizeable lode and not just any hide. Found the opening of the container the most difficult ever, so bring gloves! Fav point. TNLN TFTC Team Ninja.
Find #1397. Found @ 10:40 on a weekend getaway with the family.
The kids were off playing at the park with my father-in-law, so I took the opportunity to zip off for a quick cache.
I'd not really looked at this cache on previous visits to the area (perhaps the name put me off). But today I figured that I'd give it a go (and get the bonus of some unloved days).
I was able to get the 2WD all the way to the GZ region, but had to negotiate a few fallen tree obstacles. I was not the first to encounter these issues and there was the beginnings of a track emerging.
Once at GZ I had a bad case of cache blindness and it took me a while to locate the awesome container. As others have said, when I spotted it I couldn't believe how I'd missed it.
The next challenge was to open it as the weather had deposited some detritus which made it difficult (hopefully I cleaned it up a bit to make it easy for the next finder).
This was an awesomely stocked cache, but I didn't make any swaps today.
Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the cache Team_Ninja, TeamGeoPlesk and LastoftheTimeLords.

Suscoe and the sister's 12th find of the morning as we head around Daylesford.
Well this was an epic trip as we headed in from the East.
Followed the three lost children trail and we remembered this true story from the past.
Came to the cutting and the only way was across so we slipped and slid and then scramble to the top.
The cache was found quickly as the co-ords were spot on today.
What a great container, only seen one other of these down in Ocean Grove.
Then for the return journey, decided to try another avenue down and up and this one was more fun.
The walk back was fairly uneventful.
A big thank you to Team Ninja for placing this cache here as we had a wonderful time traversing the terrain and reliving being kids again.

Drove right up to it in a low 2wd, spent ages looking, but obvious once found
Found this one while on holidays from alice. We were visiting family in the area and found time for some finds. This was a really good find and very interesting. Thanks to the person who put it there.
Getting to GZ turned out to be really easy
I just followed the real estate agents signs to within 50 metres of GZ [:o]
Yes the block of land next to the cache is up for sale.
Meanwhile just 10 metres from GZ somebody has been very busy in the last week or two with their chainsaw, chopping up a fallen tree for winter warmth.
After wandering around for 5 minutes and no sign of this LARGE cache, I feared the worst [:o]
I wandered some more.
Then had the olde .... "Oh how did I miss that ??!!" moment
The bark and stuff covering the cache just looks natural [^]
Next came diffusing the bomb [:o]
I closed me eyes as I loosened each connection.
Finally a sigh of relief as the lid came loose and the internals were revealed
Loved the container and contents [^]
An ammo tin on steroids

This was our first attempt using the gps christmas present. We got the first way point but mucked up the second so just mosied on towards the gz co-ords. As a result we parked fairly close to it and missed the fun part of crossing the ravine as some other folk had. Nevertheless we still still enjoyed the experience and learned how to operate the gps. Thanks team Ninja.
Finally found it. We can't believe a cache this big was so hard to find. TNLN. T4TC

Found it with Matt on our second try, daylight helps!! Swapped a tiny dog for a crazybones figurine.
on short noticed a 4x4 trip was organized and I found myself in BigRed the Toyota landcruser (sorry I mean the Nissan Patrol) of 3up. That day had some fun 4WD and some caches thrown in for good fun with company from Tigersden, Smegheads, 3Up and my partner in causing trouble Ali J.
We parked not far from the cache but not the closes parking for sure. We found a ravine between us and the cache. I dropped down and soon found myslef up the other side looking for the cache that was eluding me (or was it...) as the spectators stood next to the cars watching me. Soon they decided to not spectate and started to make there way over. A nice full cache was found and the logbook signed. First type of this container I have seen. Hope to see some more of them. Now where do I buy them ?

Hey, look, we just found your cache.
Now this one was fun to get to. Nearly got bogged, then realized we didn't have the hubs locked in, thanks pedders.
Video to follow.
Then there was the climb down and up the ravine to get the cache.
Had fun doing this one, thanks.

What a cool (and huge) cache! Number 2 on our 4WD and caching adventure today. It was a challenge to get to it and I am sure that there had to be an easier way but the ravine made it fun. Slid down and scrambled up to find the cache (which had already been found by C@H who was quicker to get down and up the ravine than the rest of us...). A great cache container!
This is the best cache I have done in ages! Thanks for the adventure. I made the silly decision of not bringing the 4x4 geomobile today and the falcon just didnt want to venture down those tracks so it was a long walk! I approached from the east and found myself on the wrong side of the cutting. I managed to cross using a fallen tree as a bridge and then found the cache, one of the best cache containers I have seen. Thanks
Well, this was a substantial hide, with lots of goodies in it. We thought we were on our own, but suddenly heard motorbikes nearby. Had to finish signing the logbook quickly and head off. But then, we had forgotten something, oh yes, the GPSr. Back to the cache to get it! Thanks for the hide.
We had trouble with our GPSr's all day, so grabbing this cache took longer than it should.

Very refreshing to find such a large cache out in the bush. Had hoped to get this while out walking with our club today but I was on the wrong side of the channel. I completed the walk - thinking only 68m away!!!!!!
After we finished I came back in my trusty go anywhere Mazda 2 and found the prize.

We found a really large and extremely well stocked cache in an interesting bush environment - perhaps the way a lot more caches in the bush could be! Satellites today had the GZ about 14m to the NW of where we found the cache.
NOTE: Minor milestone for us - our 2,500th GC cache.

I didn't want to trash my 2WD so parked it a reasonable distance walk from the cache. Very hilly dirt tracks aren't very friendly to my 2WD
I dodged the muddy puddles on the walk in, and found a decent sized gully stretching right across my path towards GZ. It would have taken some effort to get in and out, so I used the fallen tree as a tightrope across Lots of fun to cross, all by myself in the middle of the bush.
Found the great container a little bit away from where my GPS was pointing, maybe it was all the trees. It's a big one, so it would be pretty hard to miss.

What a fantastic cache! We were able to drive to within 50m of GZ. GF was the first to spot the cache, but we were all really impressed with its size and how well stocked it is.
Retrieved Travailen Froggas and left behind Family Caching Coin (our favourite Geocoin!)
OF took orange crayon and put in some farm animals.
EF took a pink rubber thingy and put in a sticker and horse.
Also left behind GEOF Fox #22 and two GeoRecipe cards.

WOW! This really is the ultimate cache! I was amazed at its size and quality of contents. Swapped a tape measure and some new AAs for some army men. TFTC - it's fantastic! Dropped off Travailen Froggas TB.

Now THAT is a cache! Great to see a big old school cache hide for a change. And all watertight inside, filled with goodies. I must admit however that I had nothing to swap with me, and couldn't get everything back into the container - the book or the truck kept sticking. So I ended up taking the truck. Sorry, but I will pay it forward and put something good into a cache that doesn't have much, as I often do. I didn't want the lid to be open - this cache doesn't get found much. Don't know why, it only took 5 mins to drive in and the road wasn't too bad - few muddy patches, but I drove to within 50m. Thanks for the cache Team Ninja.

This turned out to be a bit of a trek.
The WP notes certainly helped to keep me on the right path and before long I was close to GZ.
The co-ords were not to bad, better than my eyesight and as I was about to give up due to those pesky marsh flies, the cache was soon sighted.
A ripper container packed to the brim for those that like swaps.
Me, I signed the log and was off.

Managed to find the way in OK thanks to those helpful waypoints, and at GZ the cache was an easy find. Went over to have a look at the ex-bridge over the ex railway line too.
tftc. found friend 9baby huntsman. tnln. got stopped 200 m away with a tree over road, but glad, cos the puddle right behind it looked too deep for my civic!!!!
Found fairly easily after a traumatic drive down the dirt road with rocks smashing against the wheel arches, branches hitting the underneath of the car and 2 foot deep puddles to navigate in a Toyota Corolla, knowing we had to get back down the same road afterwards. We also had about an hour of daylight left and no mobile reception, but luckily didn't get stuck on the way out, despite the back end of the car sliding out a couple of times! All in all an exciting cache!

1508. Were remapping a recreational map in the area following last year's fires so decided to have a go. Bad luck was that we realised too late I had left the cache notes at home and I was sure it was a mulrti-stage cache. Good luck was that having mapped in the area I knew the cache's nearby feature, the Star Track bridge. Walked in from the nearest access point and looked around the wider vicinity of the GZ given it was a 'multi-cache'. After 10 minutes while heading back empty handed to the car I noticed an unusual mix of vegetation. Surprised at the whopper container! Restashed it hopefully with a bit more natural cover. My fix was about 20m from the hide so maybe Coffee and Cache has a point?
Took just the travel bug The Green Leader TB2T2GG. And having looked at the sidebar, just realised we never saw the King of Geocaching geocoin.
Thx Team Ninja. btw we tried to find the preliminary 'caches' on our way out but without avail. Back home reading the cache description, we realised they were just helpful waypoints. We sure made a mountain out of a molehill.

Pleasant drive into GZ, where the cache was quickly located and the log recorded, a well stocked cache but no swaps made. sully1 was annoyed and bitten by march flies, clearly they didn't know it was February. Thanks to Team Ninja and co for the cache.
Found in the company of micaparamedic, just as well his GPS was on the mark, he had the cache in hand quite quickly. A well stocked cache. TNLNSL, and came away with a couple of March Fly bites from this one. But, still enjoyed the Cache. Thanks Team Ninja.

This was the 4th cache we attempted today, in the company of 4 muggle friends, and by far the most complicated. Our troubles started when, not initially able to get the cache info on my phone, we started down the wrong road and bumped our way along various 4th rate forest roads for several km, getting further and further from the cache. When the road finally turned in the right direction, we were confronted by a large amount of water across the road, that I deemed to deep for out 2wd. We also ran into a wire some strung across the road by some irresponsible idiot who appeared to be marking a fence line. Could have killed a motor cyclist. If you follow Team_Ninja's recommendation regarding waypoints, you won't go this way anyway.
Having finally found the correct way in, we eventually navigated to 100m or so from the cache and we all set out on foot, to what I thought would be an easy find. We searched high and low (and I mean that literally) to no avail, and checked all the places within a reasonable margin that matched the clue. I couldn't believe I could not find an ammo can given the clue.
Having just about given up I widened the search and finally came across the cache - phew! After about 2 hours on this one, it would have been really disappointing to register a DNF. I feel the published position is significantly out however, by about 40 metres. Cachers who have trouble might like to try the following coords. If they are verified, Team Ninja may consider checking the position. My pos was S 37 22.901 & E 144 8.578.
Thanks Team_Ninja, TeamGeoPlesk and LastoftheTimeLords , it was a memorable experience indeed. Left a TB & collected the GC.

My original trip to replace the cache got canceled so I'm coming to replace it in December.
Thanks for checking on the cache and taking those pictures, bristlehound. I'll be up to replace the cache sometime in the next few months.
Gone I'm afraid! I walked in from Jubilee Lake to check the condition of the cache. The first kilometer was virtually unscathed so I was mildly optimistic but any cause for that soon vanished. It will recover eventually but, for now, it's just scorched earth. There was no sign of the container but only a few charred and burnt pages from one of the books I remembered seeing in it on my previous visit - "The Rules of Golf." or something similar. At least there is no need to decide now as to whether to drive across the bridge or not. That's gone too. I've added some photos I took while at GZ. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings!!
This cache is in the area affected by the fires. I am not going to be able to check the cache until Christmas at latest. If anyone is in the area and is able to check the cache, please do so, only when the fire danger is over however.
Felt like a bit of exercise so I parked at Jubilee Lake and walked in along the rail line. Really enjoyable little walk. Quite flat and 30 minutes each way. About 4 kms round trip. If approaching this way, it's probably a good idea to follow the 4x4 track for the last 200 metres, after it splits from the rail line. The embankments at the bridge are quite high and steep. They can be negotiated and I came back that way but the vehicle track is easier and takes you right to the bridge. (Check out the neat little brick water channel coming down the right hand bank just as the trail splits.)
No problems finding the cache, it was sitting there peeking out at me. I took a pair of pliers with me to take care of the clips and they presented no great difficulty, except for the one which I think is worn past its use by date. No swaps made. Many thanks for an enjoyable cache.

We also took the other road, next time I will read "all" the cache notes as the progressive directions are listed as waypoints. Never mind , we had a nice tour of the area getting close but having to retrace our tracks. Great location, would loved to have seen a steam train passing under the bridge in the railways heyday. Interesting cache container but had no swaps to exchange today. Thanks for bringing us here, I remember this area as we oragnized a large Orienteering event just near here down the track a few years ago. If you follow the train line North for a bit towards Jubilee Lake there is a fantastic rail tunnel that you can walk through- torch required.
Found at 0730. Found the right way in after taking a different road in that lead to nowhere. Drove the 2WD in to as far as 200m, and then made the short stroll with my nephew in tow to find the nice big cache sitting there half exposed. When we opened it up, we found that the contents have become moist and the log book is damp. We were still able to our name, but fear its only going to get damper.
Thanks.
Thanks.

A nice day out in Daylesford however we took a roundabout way to find this one. Went a little further than we should have and then got to a rickety looking bridge. Should we cross? Well the cache notes said it was safe! A couple of holes at each end though. Well yep looked right so over we went in our little '84 lazer. Crunch over the far end which would have been OK in a 4WD and then the track turned into an inland lake after 100m. Maybe we took the wrong way we thought. A quick reverse and then a charge at the bridge jumped us up and across and we then headed off to the correct road and an easy find. Note to self read the cache page and use the provided co-ords [;0]
You learn something every cache i suppose.

As Chewin' described, we took a somewhat roundabout track to and from this cache. But then, Chewin' needs to use his car in 4WD otherwise he will forget what to do.
Interesting bit of bridge, it is a pity that they have removed bits of it.
Cache was a bit wet, but not too bad.
Thanks, Robmc.

Didn't have the waypoints as they didn't show up on the PDA so we winged it as to how to get here. After a couple of false starts and a drive up someones drive we found a track that seemed to head in the right direction although it was very wet and sloppy. Had some visions of getting stuck and having to go in search of a farmer with a tractor. Had to tow my son out of a similar place a while back. Anyway we got there and not wanting to go back the same way we found another way out which was pretty steep and again wet and slippery but no problems. Nice big cache and only a little damp inside. Thanks for the adventures and the cache.
BTW I should mention the bridge is out of action for driving at least. Barriers in place and a few boards removed both ends.

The cache is HUGE, and would normally be well sealed - but it appears that the small air release screw has been left loose and the cache has breathed in some water.
The contents are well wrapped in what appears to be freezer bags, but moisture has still seeped in. We didn't have any suitable sized glad bags, so we did as much maintenance as we could under the (raining) circumstances.

I too had a few issues with this one. The cache was quite exposed which I think may be the result of falling bark disturbing it perhaps. Getting it opened and closed was quite difficult also. The fun part was driving out through the big puddles, SPLASH!

It had already become dark as we headed back on a homeward trail .
we just couldn't resist this one though- so we were very pleased to see the little subpoints showing up in the blank forest map. It may have been crazy, but we gamely continued on our way to the cache site. Once agiain it was quite wet- an we reused the wire to try to hold it closed and replaced it once again upside down. The log book is still dry and the other bags also seem to be doing their job. We left a small game and took a small 44 gallon drum character! We were glad to see the main road showing up again as it will be cold in the forest tonight. TFTC

Found by Mary & David at 1515. We were so looking forward to this one even before we arrived after reading about the track, the bridge and the old railway. The GeoCalais performed well, and took us very close to the cache. Tremendous container, and we'd come across a few before. Unfortunately, there was a large amount of water inside but, despite the absence of zip-lock bags, the log book was ok. We emptied it out but a cache check may be wise to be sure about the rest. We obtained a short length of wire from a nearby post and used it to pin the faulty clamp closed. Also replaced the container upside down to help keep the water out in future. Our thanks to Team Ninja and TeamGeoPlesk.
Our last one on our way home. We managed to not follow the right track in - the way out was much easier. Lovely big cache but no exchanges made. TFTC

Great drive in to this cache, the GeoAstra had no real problems other than bottoming out on a large lump of rock in the middle of the track but all seems OK. Got close to GZ and for some reason felt the need to cross the bridge but the GPSr soon pointed us in the correct direction and the cache was then quickly found.
Took Nothing
Left A "Keeper of Time" + 3D Stickers

2nd find for the day.
A 4WD was blocking the track about 1.4km for the cache. It turns out that they were spraying the furze with poison and were on their tea break.
As they backed off the road, the trailer with the tank came off the ute, so myself and the two men had to lift it back on to the tow-bar... a mighty effort considering the tank had water in it, the trailer was 6 inches below the towball and it was about 35 degrees by now.
We stopped and chatted for about half an hour, and they were sounded interested in caching.
One of the blokes had a Magellan Explorist with him, so with any luck we might have a new cacher in our midst.
After I left them, I continued on down the road and the cache was found fairly swiftly.
Loved the container, I hadn't seen one of these, but like others, I also had trouble on the 3rd clasp. It popped up when I was halfway back to the car, so I had to clip it again. This time it sounded like it locked in properly.
No exchanges made.
Thanks to Team_Ninja and TeamGeoPlesk for a great cache, and thanks to the two blokes for the chat.

We came up from the South after doing "Hello Sailor". Lucky we have a good 4WD, there where some very interesting tracks. We ended up arriving on the wrong side of the bridge not that it was a problem. Mrs FJ1 found the cache at 11:30AM within 5 metres of where the GPS said it was.
Great container. The cache looks like a land-mine.

This cache turned into quite an adventure for us. We saw it come up on the gpsr and tried to find it ourselves without reading the cache page. This led us to spend three quarters of an hour driving around bush tracks including driving along the actual railway line at one stage before we even knew what it was. (all very enjoyable though) When we did eventually get close to gz we found ourselves on the wrong side of the bridge with the very large holes either end. After a short walk we were rewarded with a quick find of a very well stocked cache of a type we had not seen before

We drove in along the potholed road and parked near the old bridge. It is always nice that we can be brought to old railway spots like this seemingly in the middle of nowhere. I have encountered these containers before and I am sorry to say that Mrs F and I tried in vain to get all 3 seals to lock but only managed to get 2 to hold. As a result I have inverted the container (just in case) to prevent moisture getting in and ask the next finder endeavour to seal it properly. I am really sorry about this and hope it wont cause too much drama. Thanks for showing us this spot. TNLN

Found by Roma and Max.
We followed the cache directions to the access track and proceeded from there to follow our receivers needle on to GZ.
This proved to be a very interesting place and we wonder what the railways original purpose was, most likely mining related.
Once again good numbers led us to the well hidden container. These vessels make great Geo containers except for the fact they are both hard to open and close, which inevitably results in a poor lid seal and moisture can ingress.
We signed the log, left one of our usual Mondos for the cache, and took a small Melbourne Key Tag.
Thank you again TeamGeoPlesk and Team_Ninja, for bringing us to this venue.
