It is a hard one to find but with the string of DNF's I will check on it as soon as I can.
Hunted here again today but no luck. The kids and I enjoyed scrambling around on the rocks. A really neat place which deserves a cache. Definitely needs checking as its been a long time since it was found. A fun place to visit , thanks
I had great fun scrambling around in here. Took heaps of photos of these wonderful rocks. Must bring the kids back with me next time. Lots of places that matched the clue and my GPS couldn't zone in on any one area. Thanks for showing me this lovely place
Searched base of every tree and no luck. GPS pointing me all over the place. Next time
Found as part of my Post Mega northen road trip. Really enjoyed a part of the country I hadn't seen before. Thanks to all those who have placed cacahes to encourage us southerners to come your way!
#6276. Another surprising little area. I choose a rather hard way to get to GZ, and found a much easier way out. TFTC.
Fantastic spot, and a most unusual traffic island. There were some massive rocks there, some looked as though a nudge would have them toppling over.
Didn't take too long to track down. TFTC.

Trees - rocks, but which one & how will we get over there. Glad to have got this. Left TB. TFTC
Arrived . . . . parked . . . . WOW . . . . . amazing little place, kids must love it cause I sure did Up here caching with Fencarrows this weekend. GPS couldn't settle . . . . back and forth, back and forth and there it was . . . . . . looking at us. TFTC
Out and about for a weekend of geocahing with SethRaven. This had a clambering over the roacks for quite some time. TFTC
Was surprisingly straight forward as one can get when climbing rocks!! Cache was very exposed so tucked it away a bit better but still visible when you look at it. Amazing how a tree will cling to the rock face to grow to the sky. Awesome place! TFTC
We started looking in the wrong place. We found a white item down a crack under a rock thought it was the geocache. It was funny watching my daughter try to get it out only to find out that it was a bag of books not the geocache. Once we got the right place it was an easy find. TFTC
6 - After a long scramble through the island finally found it with the help of friend and future cacher Meg-san. But watch out for those widow-makers! TFTH
nmy parents just moved into a house down the road and ive come up from te awamutu on a holiday. fort id have a look for a cache around there house and i was interested to find this 1 TFTC
Watch out for hungry mosquito's. I suggest wearing insect repellent before going to find this one!
4055 Having recently work out what KK is, this was a much quicker find than we had thought it might be! TFTC
Catching up on logs, did ages ago with butters* & Kenny897, have computer access now .TFTC.
Have passed this 'island' a few time on way to friend's place - thought it would be easy!! ha ha - we looked and looked and felt sure we were in right place. Have read ALL the logs and pleased to see others who have found it on return visits. Will be back - when is it not sandfly/mozzie season?? I know this is a popular spot for photos - especially wedding ones - and can see why.
Am wondering if keikei should be kiekie?? Being pedantic and grasping at straws - still not making it easier to find

nice hide! decided with sparkyxx it was more of a traffic continent than a traffic island
We were almost deterred from attempting this cache, described as being on a traffic island, but this is certainly no ordinary traffic island, more an interesting geological feature. Finding the right place, and clambering there took a wee while, but the cache was soon found, with a local cat sniffing at it, then lazing on a rock nearby. TFTC
Headed North with TF to complete the Driving A-Z series. This one was near another in the driving series so we decided to knock it off too. Very interesting rocks. Reckon this spot deserves a earth cache to explain how these were formed. Really peculiar looking. TFTC
Found as part of a driving tour of the lower Northland caches with GT as we grabbed the A- Z series. It would be nice to know their history. Thanks.
Great hide and very interesting Island. Had a few looks and then cache in hand. Just had to work out the right place and watch the foot work.
What a beauti traffic Island. Had a quick look but no luck. Will come back as 3 young muggles in and about GRRRRRR!!!!!!

GPS got a bit muddled so I put my Cacher head on and found it after about 10mins. Took out BUMPy TB. Left nothing. T4TC
Called in after doing "Teina little brother" found with Mitch but got eaten by Mosquitos, must be feeding time in the evening.TFTH.
I tell ya, its not easy caching rocks at night with a small handheld 2 led torch. The pain! I found the area for this cache fairly easily, gps lost reception in the middle. Got to the tree and had a quick look, DNF, asked butters94 for a hint, and found. Yay, now to get out. Started back along the path and next thing you know I miss my footing and fall down into the crevice, about 1m down, the pain the pain. Stumbled out and got to the car and sat down. Be careful traversing the rocks, especially at 9.30pm. I am an experienced rock hopper, but everyone misses once or twice. Bruised backside, buckled shoulder, grazede elbow and forarm and bruised and scraped knee.

Best traffic Island by far, found with little trouble. Placed Travelbug "Bumpy" and dice. Out Nil.Thanks for this great hide.
looked for about half an hour or so. kids where getting grumpy. We did find plenty of empty beer bottles, spider webs an bugs.
Second time lucky. Had a look last October without luck, but returned today and found without much difficulty at all - how did we miss it?!? Found with DeadRockFlower, 2 wee buck and Nana Buck. TFTC.
Found it second time round! We were so so close last time! Took dwarf TB and took him to the minature trains for a ride! Found with mbuckland, 2 wee bucks and Nana buck. Poppa Buck took a tumble and has a few bumps and scraps for his first cache! TFTC
Fabulous traffic islands up here in Whangarei! Not what we were expecting from the cache description - definitely not your typical Auckland traffic island!
This should be a must-do for anyone caching the area.
Not sure if we chose the most sensible route to the cache, but we enjoyed the explore and soon located the cache. Thanks for taking us to this magical spot.
Dropped off the Sleepy Dwarf TB

What a neat place didn't take us too long to find the cache and then we had the photo shoot For the records T4TC
This was voted the best place to hide a cache in Whangarei. The kids want to move here just so they can spend the day bouldering. TFTC
BOY WHAT A CHALLENGE THIS WAS!WE WERE DETERMINED TO FIND & EVENTUALLY CAME UP WITH THE GOODS-A GREAT CACHE-REALLY LOVED IT-MANY THANKS
Wow rocks and shall I say more rocks. We climb, we searched, we poked..and then and thankfully suendan came up with the goods on this one. This took some time to find but when found we signed log and left with smiles. Thanks for the adventure on this one! TFTC!
Very cool place for a cache. Spent 15 minutes scrambling around the rocks but unfortunately couldn't find it and didn't understand the clue. I will defintely have another go when next in town.
Lots of fun with the family here, fascinating spot, some very slippery bits after rain. + coin - novelty compass TFTC
Nice area, but GPS hostile...
Didn't find the clues or logs helpful and were ready to move on when daughter found the cache by accident

What a strange spot, thanks for bringing me here! Little brother found the cache.
A great hidden little area, brought back some memories with an old girlfriend in this very spot!
What a seriously excellent area, really enjoyed the scramble. Found the cache out in the open so rehid it where we thought it was meant to be. TFTC
Great cache spot rocks are amazing. A bit slippery after the rain though... very muddy bottom!!! NINO
MD struggled to find this. I bowled up and found it in a couple of minutes Heh. Cheers Gav [3651]
Last time I tried this, I searched and searched and searched, then begrudgingly gave up. This time I took Rediguana.
2564. What an unusual find in the middle of a street! Those rocks are very impressive – and they did make the search more difficult!!
Thanks

What a cool spot!
I think I took the hardest possible way in though LOL>
Found the container out in the open, lid off and full to the brim with water. The log book was safe in it's bag though.
I have drained and dried container and have taken out damaged good
OUT DAMAGED = McD toy, ear plugs, 2 pens & calculator.
REPLACED WITH + Bracelet, Whistle, hand clapper, 'winner' medal & pencil.
Took Rabbit
TFTC
Hopefully all will be well with it now,

1.15pm. Spent too much time in the wrong place, then decided to move a little and there it was. Thank you. David and Noeline
What an interesting and unusual centerpiece to the neighbourhood. Found quite quickly. TFTC
A rondom rock or nine. Yea sound about right lol. Good place for it but dont slip on the rocks as you can get hurt.
Found this early evening. B was in rock scrambling mode so J was happy to send him in. Interesting island for the neighbours. TNLN TFTC
Staying with family not far, so went for a walk... 3 adults and SIX kids!!
Managed to get in and out without arousing too much suspicion

This is a great place for a cache. My favourite over a busy 2 days because it was so surprising to come across it here. Also we found it a pleasant challenge to discover the cache hiding place.

Thanks
I Just had to look one more time
My blindness seems to have been cured, though I highly suspect a certain someone has done me a kindness after my DNF report ???
Silly me, I thought I'd get all grungy 1st and recheck all the really hard places, since the terrain rating is so high.... but no joy... so back to where I thought it should be and Voila! there it was in wide open plain view & I'm SURE I checked there before! Which leaves me thinking there must be some mischievious elves or hobbitses living in this neck of the woods.
I made sure it was well hidden, after signing the log & taking The Doc TB. left a jewel & doggiebone caribiner
TFTC!

Stopped by twice and found all sorts of rubbish, stuffed toys, shoes...but could not find the cache![ ]
Got filthy crawling under, over, up, down, around & around... Am I just blind? or has it gone missing, or gotten covered by much fallen debris after the big blow we had?
Such a beautiful "traffic island" and neighbourhood. Thanks! I'll have to try again, as I had plans for Dr. Morpho Cypris

Found this cache with all who attended the event cache. Truly a team effort! This has to be the most amazing traffic island I have ever seen, wouldn't want to try and drive over this one!! Some beatiful rock formations amongst dense rainforest. Great cache location. Thanks for bringing me here.
15:25 Our first Pooke cache, so it was fitting that the man himself came along to laugh at our efforts.
What a great spot for a cache and the biggest traffic island we have seen.
Thanks for cache Sam and Robin.

This has to be the most awesome traffic island in the country. Two of the party had to abandoned the hunt due to wearing inappropiate clothing. High heal boots & black tights are definitly not suitable! If I had been pre warned I could have organized abseiling gear for the hunt...especially taking the difficuly way in. Not an easy find & needed the clue. Thanks Pooke for the traffic island challenge.
Rumo and Rala went on a road trip up north and did some geocaching in between.
Wow. Rala was almost speechless. Sooooo many boulders to climb on. We would love to have such a playground, sorry, traffic island in our neighbourhood. This would be the perfect way to spend a whole afternoon.
Anyway, the cache was quickly found, and on we climbed: Up and down and down and up...

A difficult search for the Smith family with erratic GPS readings due to the rocks and tree cover. Finally located by my son Jared using the clue.
Lived in Whangarei all my life and I can't remember ever driving up this road. Well worth the visit to a lost world.
