Hi
It appears that this cache has been inactive for quite some time. Is it going to be replaced or should it be archived to make room for possible future caches? If the cache owner does not contact me within Three Weeks, I'll assume the cache needs to be archived.
While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can't do so forever. Please either repair/replace this cache, or archive it so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if you haven’t done so already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.
I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the future.
Thanks for your understanding,

This geocacher reported that this geocache should be archived. A community volunteer reviewer has been notified.
We had a good scout round 'under foot' but given all the dnfs time for owner check. Would have replaced myself if I'd had a box with me.
We found the possible hiding place, but no cache. It is probably lost. Nevertheless a great view and a nice walk.
Stopped here (again) on our return journey from successfully finding 'Dome It', 'Grassy Knoll' & 'Log It'.
Unfortunately our luck ran out here. After searching for 20 or so minutes the possibility of food from the cafe at the bottom of the hill was too strong to keep Kiwiscot & friend here any longer. Will add it to the watch list but suspect the cache is no longer in place.
Kiwi may be keen for a return visit sometime in the future to get his name added to the leader board.

Today we ventured up the dome. Minus 2 temp started the day off, and beautiful blue sky. We were a group of 13 with 3 cachers and 10 friendly muggles (maybe future cachers!) We started at the cafe and wound our way up the stairs with a huff and puff, smiles and chatter. The two ladies of the 'one wheel family' got down to it at gz..muggles looking on with curiosity. Found in no time we retrieved the cache and signed away. From there we left the 'tourist' track and started our tramping track journey to the summit. Thanks for the cache..we didn't break any records with our hike to the lookout. .but enjoyed the view so much !!
Superb view despite some haze, on a fine Sunday's outing from suburban Auckland. Nice to see identifying nameplates for lots of the trees. Happy cicadas throughout the bush couldn't quite block out the road noise though A good short walk!
Found again on January 2nd while walking Te Araroa track from Cape Reinga to Wellington.
Was a great feeling to log this cache! Visited this beautiful part of the North Island as part of our holiday from Australia.
Our journey began after lunch when we had eaten at a very famous fish & chips shop in Silverdale. With full stomached, we head north to Dome Valley to climb to this lookout. My family were less excited than me but nevertheless we all hiked up.
Upon arrival the view was magnificent and wind upon our faces was so refreshing after a sweaty climb. Unfortunately our time to climb the track is not good enough to make the leaders board - in fact, it is slower than the stated time on the signs. Those times listed in the description are VERY impressive.
Anyway, found cache straight away & log was signed. TFTC!

Comming from the Whaiwhui Road side after hiking already over 20 kms today being already a bit tired by then. But very worth it for the nice cache hide and view!
Certainly lived up to its name as I had been past this one enroute to a couple more further up the track.
Be fair to say I was completely spent by the time I returned to this spot and was glad to know it was almost all downhill from here. Been a long time since I have been as poked as that while signing a log. TFTC

#539 Found on Day 24 of Te Araroa. Camped in the bush just before the Kauri Grove. Had scrambled eggs at the cafe, life was great this day, well, before the mad hike to reach high tide at Puhoi Kayaks. TFTC!
Beautiful view, so made the huff and puffing worth it. Great place to hide it, favourite cache by far.
Would like to say view was great, but saw nothing but low cloud! Although passed here later in the day and cloud was starting to lift. Got here in a very respective 20 mins...not really setting any records though eh! Thanks.
just starting off on the tramp to govan wilson road, stopped for a quick look - and as it turns out one of the very few views of the coast from up here, quick find and back on the trail... nice and humid but no sweat worked up yet - to look forward to
After a big days caching went for this one and timed myself to the top. I managed 12 minitues to the top. Had to wait for a family to move on before I could go for the find. Great views from here.
Enjoyed the nice bush walk/jog to GZ and back, then to the cafe for a recharge before heading up to Wellsford. A good cardio workout on the way up, so no need to feel bad not going to the gym today. TFTC.
A lot of stairs for logging this cache, but the view was very nice.
Thanks for showing

This one has been on our to visit list for a long time but on each trip past it we have been in a rush to get somewhere. Today was a little different as we only decided at the last minute to head north rather than south for the weekend so there was no excuse not to stop and visit.
Enjoyable walk that involved a lot of huffing and puffing but we finally made it up all those steps. There were a few muggles out and about but we managed a quick find when the coast was clear. Great views from the lookout TFTC.

Went up to the kauri grove on a lovely walk. Found cache quickly saw Rangitoto ( I live on the mainland opposite it) what a fantastic view. TFTC
Nice walk with the girls, lovely day, great views. Cache was found by my daughter (8) who now thinks she is a superstar!!! Will definately visit again without the girls and walk further. TFTC
Was in Auckland for work and decided to come up to Auckland a few days early and pick up a few caches, after picking up a few caches around the Kaipara Coast and Wellsford I decided that I wanted to head north and pick up a cache before turning around and heading back south towards for Auckland.
After finding GC2BEGG - Dome Valley (Walkworth), I thought that since I was in the area I might as well pick up the other cache that is in the area, I managed to get a carpark closer to the cafe as the owners were quite accommodating today as they said that they were very quiet here today and it wouldn't be an issue if I park near the walkway entrance.
After plucking up the stamina it was time to Huff and Puff my way up this walkway, not quite sure how long it took me to get up to the lookout but I know that it took me alot less time to come back down, arriving at the top and at the lookout platform I was quite lucky today as I had the are totally to myself and was able to search for the cache without any interruptions, managed to track down the cache in the first spot that I looked, what a nice spot for a cache, managed to take a few minutes to reflect and take in the atmosphere before making my way back down to the carpark. What a great spot for a cache, thanks for placing it here and bringing me up to this lovely spot, this is the first time that I have ever being on this walkway and I know that it was definitely worth the effort required to make it to the lookout, TFTC TNLNSL (4729) definitely worth a favourite point just for the aerobic exercise.

I can see my work from here!! Have driven past here lots this is the first time I've explored the track. Pretty sure I'll be back, is a great walk. Didn't race up as was wanted to walk further without feeling stuffed!
Nice walk up with the family to the dome. Great views. Found our first travel bug too. Peak bagging and geocaching at the same time. Cool!
Our first cache in NZ! What a great view. A nice place for the satellite TB. TFTC. We didn't plan this cache, but found it by looking on a logical cache place.
Was out this way with a friend and decided to do this walk to the lookout; without gps and didn't know there was a cache. When arrived at GZ thought it was worthwhile checking in the obvious spot and there it was. What a view, and could see the rain clouds around. Nice spot and walk. No time recorded as we didn't know there was a cache. TFTC
We had made a pretty nice walk through the Dome Forest. During the way we had found this cache. Unfornutally we didn´t know about a speed-challenge - we might have won:) The views had been hiked under the clouds and raining the cache was sweet. Thank you!
Another trip up this way to pick off a few more caches.
This one gave me a bit of exercise as well. It took me exactly 15mins for one way. Not bad for an old codger with a bung knee which started to play up. But what a view!!!!!! Fantastic!!!!!!!
Even counted the man-made steps on the way out but lost track of the hundreds so it was either 260, 360, or 460. And that's not counting the natural steps made from tree roots. Whew!!!!!
Cheers for the cache.

Congrats to Geckoh on breaking the record!!!! Sorry for the delay in changing the page...

Left this one for our return from the north, lucky we did as I didnt realise it was a TimeTrial challenge on our way north, and especially with my mate the Gerbil on the top rung I was super amped to knock him down a notch. (not an easy feat at the best of times).
Started off well, the distance to the cache was decreasing nicely, but the time was ticking by, there was even a bit of a downhill section so made the most of this as I knew Mr Gerbil is stronger on the steeper technical stuff.
Time from start of track to lookout................
[blue]7 Minutes 08.2 Seconds!![black]
Not quite under the 7 minute barrier as I had hoped but enough for a MallowPuff!!
Total Stats:
Up 7:08.2
Recovery/search for cache/sign and replace 2:39
Down 6:28
Total 16:15.

Crikey, with a time to beat as bait, this one really had to be done. Certainly not a gentle warm up at the start is it?
A nice walk, which was much better appreciated on the way down at a more leisurely pace. Sorry TWS, the new time to beat is 7 mins 52 sec. I carried on to Dome trig - a total of 14:44sec all up to there.
This was the 2nd peak bagged for the day (www.peakbagging.co.nz), now on to Mt Auckland!

TFTC. Great native bush and a perfect workout for the driving legs too. The Easter Bunny must have been around because his/her car was.
Brilliant trail run and great location, 11'25" (did my marathon last year)
was waiting for a nice day to do this one and got a stunner
suggest we extend the challenge, took the same time to the Dome trig, although the track was a tad gnarly

Perfect - caching combined with marathon training. 10.43.20 which looks like it might be the new record. Downside was as it was a training run I had to run all the way down as well. Thanks for the great spot for a cache.
Nice cruisy stroll up to this one, figured I couldn't beat 10:45 so didn't try. From memory it was around 12 minutes last time when the previous cache was here. Nice to re-vist but not much of a view today, too much rain about.

Thanks

Came with "Sallies" as Rodney claimed the cache so I had another attempt to see if I can get higher on the leader board. Took 16.17 this time which is not bad for an old boy. Thanks again. David.
1.45pm Thanks for putting this one back. It is a great walk and view. Needed some exercise to get some fitness back after a long period of idleness!! Took my 9 year old grandson who was running up the steps. He kindly waited for me on numerous occasions. Got there in exactly 20minutes then sat on the seat while Benjamin dealt with the cache. A bit easier going down. We swapped a screwdriver and spider for two coins to add to Benjamin's collection. Thank you. David.
I i had read this first i would have put my walking boots on and stormed up the track and timed it.
Really was tempted to do Totara peak which the gps said was 2.5 mile away but had to get the car back and didn't have suitable foot ware on.
AB FAB view

Track a tad slippery in just a couple spots after some morning showers (watch those treeroots going downhill [B)] ) but pretty good overall. Despite the cloudiness the views were still nice and I enjoyed the bush track & reading the signs while walking back. I think it's been 15 years since last stopping at that cafe for a devonshire tea... The iced coffee I had after was yumm & sure hit the spot!
NOT the smartest cache to try after a fast and visit to the quack for chest pain. LOL!!! But have been wanting to try this one for some time ( and got the OK).
I managed it in 13:49
Thanks for the [s] coronary [/s] oh, I meant cache!

Strewth, what a huff and puff this turned out to be.
Went as fast as this Pukeko could, also found I can fly(when tripping on tree roots).... for a few metres before the crash landing.
Did it in 14.15 which at the moment is the absolute best I could do. Once I loose some more weight and my fitness improves I am gonna have another crack at this one.

Managed to huff and puff to the top by torch light at sub-Gary speed (~15.5min), the rest of the family refused to disembark the caching chariot after our long walk at Atiu Creek Regional Park. Track a bit slippery in places, but no major dramas – not much of a view, except twinkling house lights in the fast fading twilight.

I huffed & I puffed, but there was no view! A wet morning on a soggy track - 15.06 mins to the top...cant beat the long legged fitness freeks but it was fun trying. A much slower pace comming down so I could read the tree lables & enjoy the forest. Also didn't want to break my neck! Took the geocoin. Thanks for the challenge.
OK I'll admit to groaning when I saw this one published, but it is a perfect spot for a cache.
Our time today on a wet track (bit slippery) 13' 10''
Just drizzle going up but it got a bit heavier on the way down. Rewarded ourselves with lunch at the bottom.

Phew! Well that was an aptly named cache!
We did our best, but our time up to the top was only 18 mins 37 secs, though that was with our 6 year old. He alternately bounded up like a mountain goat and then needed to be pulled up by dad until his energy levels were back... Still hes probably the fastest 6 year old to make it up there...!
Amazing views from the top made all the effort well worthwhile.
Made use of the facilities at the bottom to aid recovery - we can recommend the coffee!

Congrats to Team TWS on breaking the record, also after a full breakfest. Bonus points for not losing breakfest on the way up ...
Came up after a big breakfast, and the ANZAC parade.
10 mins 45 secs here. The last 60 meters nearly kills you. Remember jogging up here last time, slightly faster this time round, must of been the full "tank".
Getting back to the car took a lot longer. Should be ok to go tomorrow!!
Cheers Gary, thought about replacing this one, but Im glad you bet me to it.
Thanks for the exercise.

#865. Ha Tramper Ted untrained 1/2. 11 mins 55secs although the photo evidence will probably show 12 mins 18 secs - if anyone can decipher it.
Started 12:00:12
Arrived at the top at 12:12:07 gasping for breath and shaking - couldn't work the phone properly, then got a shot off which if you look closely says 30 at the end (hence 12:12:30)- honest. Then finally when I'd calmed down and caught my breath one that say 12:13:01.
Ran up all the steps and the downhill stretch.
So you'll just have to trust me and send in the trained 1/2.
TFTC KiwiGary and Margaret - I think?

Well Gary you have set the scene and Challenge.
Sadly it was the untrained half of TT + Ted of course that fronted for this one. No training, none, Zip.
Off he went with a "Hiss and a Roar" that very soon turned into a "Huff & Puff". Had some new shoes and promptly rolled an ankle on the first down section which made it painful for the rest of the trip.
Managed to clock 12 mins and 25 secs so with "Swiss rounding" that means 12 Mins. Good enough for the meantime and may not require the "Trained half" to be used at a later date. Time will tell.
Having come fresh from "Pirates Life" there was still some Cussing of the cache owner occuring.
Thanks Gary for the fun.
Cheers TT

Congratulations Rumo and Rala on the FTF, and in a record time of 17 minutes to reach the top. Can TT beat this record time?
We loved your new watch, almost looks like its drawn on. What will watch makers think of next?

Today, we went on a trip to find some more northern caches.
The given timing in the cache description was challenging us to find out where in between the tourist and Tramper Ted we would end. Sadly, the last days that were filled with outdoor activity took a toll on our stamina. Huffing and puffing we reached the lookout and measured disappointing 17 minutes. We can do better - but not today. The beautiful view, a quickly found cache, and the fact that the rain-laden clouds had kept their payload gave back some of the joy. The journey back to the car only took 13 minutes. At least. We are so curious about how TT will do...
