Answers sent. I was aware of this spring in Petone, have walked past it many times and know people who travel lots of km each week to go there and get their drinking water.Today, I did try some. It was lovely and refreshing and tasted like... water. Each to their own! I like the amphora part of the design best, so that's in my photo. Thanks for placing this EC TheWonderStuff. Armed with jandals and a chilly bin, a couple of Aussies headed across the ditch for a 3-week tiki tour, exploring the beauty of New Zealand.DAY 5: Whanganui to Wellington. An interesting spot. A local even stopped here armed with multiple empty vessels. Answers submitted by Geoturtle37. Thanks for showing us this special place by placing this cache, TheWonderStuff tn koe~~
Home town Wellington always love coming here to fill bottles even if it's only a small one.
I recall coming here for an AL, but I must not have had enough time to do the EC as well. No problem today. TFTEC.
I made a whirlwind trip to Wellington with karen rinora, on the hunt for some awesome smilies. We visited this spot today and gathered the requested information. Answers will be sent. Thanks for bringing me by!
Awesome sculptures! They must be a great conversation starter. Answers have been submitted. TFTC
We're visiting our grandson in Wellington, and staying just round the corner in Bolton Street, so although our caching had been fairly non-existent recently for various reasons it would have been rude not to do this cache while we were going anyway to fill our water bottles. Photo shows Mr RW and geo-dog Meg at GZ.
Day number two here in Wellington was rainy and windy, but that just weather! I started early up here in Petone, Another intresting artesian spring cache! Thanks for the cache./herrFamaxe from Sweden
Tftc! Living so close to this, even got water once, now finally logging!Spotted with Tim, as always.
We are visiting from the US near geocaching HQ. We are staying here in Lower Hutt for a few days. Tonight we had dinner at a nearby restaurant. When we arrived, there were families filling water bottles. Thanks for the cache. We are leaving in the morning for the South Island.

M nok jobbe iherdig mot stadig nye ml jeg ikke visste jeg hadde.Alt er bra med cachen om ikke det nevnes verst i teksten.
We had been staying in this street for 2 nights and walking past the feature for dinner each evening. Early on our last morning Mr CNQ came back and took the attached photo, no one filling up water bottles at 6am, but every other time it has been popular. Thanks for interesting location for an earthcache, and greetings from north Queensland.
**#17667** After an excellent meal in the restaurant just around the corner, I went to this earthcache **Te Puna Wai Ora (The Spring of Life) (Wellington)** There were a number of people collecting water from the spring/ fountain after the research of the questions to qualify for the EC , I went back to my campervan to fetch a couple empty bottles and filled them up with this precious spring waterThank you TheWonderStuff for this wonderful Earthcache. #217. Enjoyed coming out to Petone. Had a booking at the Lone Star with whanau. Answers sent to C/O TFTC.
I am back in Wellington, just a few days this time in a little break when I have neither work nor uni. It's always nice to come back here and go exploring in some of my favourite places as well as discovering new parks and bus routes and things and just to spend time somewhere different that isn't home or work or uni.
I arrived on the overnight bus at just after 6am and after breakfast at my gran's new house in Petone, I noticed this Earthcache and decided to come check it out. My 1000th cache was an Earthcache too and I'm quite fond of them (most of the time) so this one was perfect for my 2000th - about 17.5 months later! Answers have been sent to the CO and here is a photo. It was interesting to learn about the artesian water and its origins - and to have an Earthcache that's safe to taste
Thanks for placing this here and for the interesting lesson in hydrogeology!

Was zooming through Petone on my bike and had a few minutes to spare before I had to head home. Very cool spot. Definitely worth stopping by if you don't like the treated taste of hutt valley water
Claiming the cache today as a 6th generation decendant of William and Agnes Buick. Dull grey sky today, after a wet weekend in the Capital. Answers sent to the CO, attaching photo as proof of visit. Thank you for the earthcache/geocache!!!
A rare date night with GeoHubby, GNARwhal. We are out collecting a few caches towards the current challenge of 100 in a month.
We ordered butter chicken for dinner, and while this was being prepared we wandered down to gather the information required and snap our mugs in a photo.
Answers have been sent to the CO. Thanks for this Earthcache.

Aquilus1 & I decided to take a short & sweet trip over the ditch to Wellington for the weekend. Flights were cheap, and we found a deal on the accommodation which is normally really expensive in Wellington.
We had a windy landing, and if anything the wind picked up a little... but that was it! The rest of the weekend was a little overcast then sunny, but the much vaunted 'wind' that I had talked up did not eventuate.
By some dumb luck, there was actually an event happening not that long after our landing...we just needed to get dinner first. Well, we read reviews and went to the best place.....and then waited 45 minutes! Though, once we arrived it seems we hadn't missed much. It was an interesting event and we heard a lot of cool stories. Very happy that we met everyone (and for me, who had attended a Wellington event almost 5 years previously....meet everyone again!)
The Shepherd arms was cheap as chips, but actually a very nice little hotel, loved all the sheep portraits they had upstairs.
So a few days travelling around the Hutt Valley and Red Rock coastal Wellington, taking Aquilus1 to the Year 2000 cache by Kevin, I think we found every virtual not on the top of a remote mountain or secret tin shed. Aquilus1 came in very handy to actually find the containers of the few caches that had them....she had the only pen!!!
What was most interesting was our hotel was actually on a clearway....one where they move cars blocking it. A clearway is understood by us, as we occasionally see them in Sydney....but we didnt see the sign. So we check out and get onto the street....and our car is nowhere to be seen....cue freakout!!! Funnily enough we heard a car alarm and joked it could be our rental.....in hindsight I think it was! But, after some panic we got onto a cheerful kiwi who told us the car had simply been moved further up the road....but we had been ticketed.....again, my heart sank. However, NZ only gives little slaps on the wrist for traffic fines as compared to Aussie! Trust me peeps, we would have been up for $1000 in Oz..... but it was a mere $130 NZD! Almost cheaper than parking!

Loved seeing so many filling up their containers, we had a drink ourselves and was pleased that the answers were informative and simple to collect so we could just enjoy the location.
Although I've heard much about Wellington I hadn't till now had the opportunity to visit, so it was great that I was able to come on a four day caching trip and experience it myself. An added bonus was that I would have the opportunity to go to GC46, my last of the NZ 2000 caches I needed to find... yes, needed!
Having the company of GreyHams was definitely a big plus (as always!), not only does he plan these trips, drive and navigate, this trip he was also my tour guide! Lots of pointing out the highlights, and the many things I had heard about I could finally see and experience for myself.
Have to say I was impressed with what awaited and just loved my visit with all it had to offer, such a scenic and interesting location. We were lucky that the day we arrived there was an event we could attend. It was great to meet the local cachers and share stories of caching adventures both local and abroad over dinner.
We worked around the weather a bit as it was forecast for rain, it did but usually only when driving or overnight so that was nice! Day 2 saw us driving out to lower and upper Hutt, and the Hutt River featured greatly along our travels! Staying close to the car as it rained worked nicely and GC46 was ticked of early... I understand it can be windy but it was often calm so I'm not sure if I missed out or got lucky!
So impressed by the greenery, the hills with perched houses and the spectacular harbor views. A walk out along the red rocks track to 'Devils Gate' was a highlight, we saw a seal and finally I saw my first ever bumblebees! Honorable mention to our car that wasn't where we left it overnight... bit of a concern until we found out it was just moved up the road a little!
Many thanks to all the CO's for your caches that help guide us around, we had a select list of caches for the short time we had, so if your cache made our list it had a quality we were needing, thank you!

A small break in the wild weather today whilst awaiting the arrival of a friend allowed some time to complete this one
Thank you for this interesting earthcache, TWS. While I sat nearby there was a constant stream of locals filling drinking containers.
Heading off on a road trip, I had crossed this morning & came here to get an EC on my way north.

Good pressure at the taps! According to OSC and Kozjah I was expecting a mere trickle but then got unexpectedly splashed.
Watering places like this does bring back memories of my hometown in Latvia when I was little, where we have a spring that is always running, and some times, when the water supply to our house would not work for one reason or the other, we would go down to the spring with big bottles to get water.
Refilled my bottle, got the answers and on we went to another type of spring of life - the Sprig&Fern tavern.

Up in the Hutt for a couple of days visiting our branch there and opted to stay in Petone as it was close and also because there were a number of AdLabs and other caches to be had while I was there
Having checked in to my hotel I set out for a wee drive around before dinner.
This earth cache was close by. Parking was tight but I got lucky and was able to leap out of my car almost alongside.
Having made some notes from the info board (sent to CO) I smiled for the camera before tracking down some food.
Thanks TheWonderStuff

What a great spot, I happened to be chasing some nearby lab caches, and saw this earthcache nearby. That's what I love about caching, if not for this cool cache I would have completely missed this interesting location, TFTC
Nice quick cache to find the answers to after breakfast on the waterfront. TFTC
Have sent through cache info. Today the site was fairly busy with a small line for the water. I simply got the info, photo and left without trying the water, since when I tried to drink from the fountain the flow was too weak to even drink from.

Day 19 - Labour weekend extended road trip - last day. The caching mojo is waning, so let's see where muggly hubby and I go before flying out early evening.
As we drove past for the adlab I realised that this was where I needed to be. So after a pie for lunch (store made and with identifiable vegetables!) I headed here. No container sadly, but the place was busy with people getting their household supply for the week (by the looks). Gathered the info (and sent it) then managed a pic without muggles.
Thanks for the cache TheWonderStuff

Thank you for the easy earthcache I did with @peadub. We were out in Petone doing some chores, and this fitted in perfectly with our plans. Always enjoy learning about a new piece of history.
That was fun - a lovely sunny day so heaps of people topping up their water containers. Am going to come back and do my own filling up!

What better way to spend an early Sunday morning than grabbing an earth cache, thanks for bringing us here on a beautiful day.
Was in the area this afternoon, so had aa look at the two caches associated with the Spring. Unfortunately, too many people around to have a good hunt for the trad, but answered the questions for this one (and sent to CO), and took a nice selfie. TFTC!
In Petone to catch a lift and have a couple of hours to spare. Been to this site before but didn’t do the earth cache last time. The sculpture reminds me of a giant chocolate fountain and I wish I could dip a massive marshmallow into it and eat it. Collected the information and sent it to the CO. Thanks for an earth cache that I could actually understand and enjoy. A favourite from us.
What a lovely sculpture and location. Used /read sign as a bag holder to get phone out for tourist photo.
Wow, very interesting! The taps were going full bore with the locals there filling their bottles. Most people had multiple containers and one lady said that if you love your body you should drink it too so we had a good drink ourselves at the fountain. Thanks for bringing us here and a FP awarded. Answers sent.
Came here today. Lots of people filling their bottles with water. Answers sent to CO. Tftc
Did the trade cache that is here and when I went to log it on my phone realised that there was an earth cache here... popped back for some answers and took a snap. Had to be of the gps and not me at gz. TFTC
#1119. I was on a mission to get several different cache types on the leap day and this was the earthcache I went for, as well as the other nearby earthcache. The required information has been sent to the CO.
I can't include my GPS in the photo as my phone that I use to take the picture is also my GPS device (does anyone actually still use a standalone GPS these days??) but here are a couple of photos that hopefully prove I was there.
Thanks very much for the cache!

In Wellington for a couple of days doing mainly TMGT and anything else. Staying tonight at Petone Club so went for a bit of a walk to see what we could find. This was an interesting Earthcache and we were amazed at how many people where there filling containers with the spring water, and not just one or two containers, some had 8 or nine 5 litre bottles. We didn't taste the water but we bet it's fantastic. Where we live in Rotorua we get our water from the Taniwha Spring and it is superb. Totally untreated.
Thanks for bringing us here TheWonderstuff. It's an awesome sculpture and an amazing spring. Have a FAV.

Spending the morning in Petone grabbing a few caches on my day off. Was surprised by how popular this well is for the locals. So popular that I decided to email my answers right here while I waited for a gap in the muggles to search for the nearby traditional. Thanks for the educational cache
A nice evening to visit after a busy day. We were amazed how many people were coming up and filling their bottles! The water did taste rather nice too..... I have gone "dark" in the photo due to the failing light! Thanks for an interesting cache... answers sent to CO.
We enjoyed this earth cache. Interesting and straightforward. The photo is mr cjp55 at GZ. TFTC
After dinner we went for a walk. We discover this Earthcache. Many thanks to the owner. Without the cache, we probably wouldn't have looked more closely at the source and the sculpture.
A brief last dash around Petone and I was hoping to collect the trad nearby, but there's not been one moment when I've been passing here that the well hasn't been busy, and I've not felt confident about my stealth capabilities. So I made do with this fascinating Earthcache, and admiring the sculpture.
Having dashed around, you can definitely tell from the photo that I'm on a Just One More cache pursuit, but never mind!
Thank you TheWonderStuff for placing & maintaining this cache. And giving me an earworm. I'll be singing The Size of a cow for the rest of the day.
