I came looking for this cache many many years ago but I couldn't solve the riddle at the time, came back again after having solved this time, enjoyed the walk in on a warm sunny morning and found the container on the ground so signed the fairly new log, left 3 traveller's and returned to a higher location TFTC

The adventure continues with our little group. Up for a few days and to grab a few caches and lga's to fill in grids and so forth, gees i've become a real nerd now, but i love it. The thrill of the chase and the effort to fill in a grid or fulfil a challenge is the parts I like.We went to this one and had to come back due to some water issues. We signed the log and replaced the cache as found. I enjoyed this multi thanks.

Visited here twice and came back with a new waterproof container and log sheet. We were all very weary of maybe sighting crocodiles here, and with every noise heard, we all stuck very close together. I'm happy to say that we all came back to the car in one piece.Thank you, walterhellmut, for another one of your good multis, a favourite point coming your way

I haven’t been here since I first came to the far north. Over 20yrs now! I was pregnant with my first child at the time. Funny story actually as we came to eubenangee swamp after much rain and were complete newbs to the whole crocodile safety thing, and had to walk through water as the creek had breached the bank preceding the hill to the lookout. Got back and told his old man and he gave us our first wake up call about how this could easily have gone wrong in this spot! The mozzies were fierce as even with aerogard liberally dosed. The containers a little moist I’m hoping I’ve positioned it better to withstand the many drops of rain it will get at this location!!

Having previously solved the coordinates, Mr CNQ diverted from driving from Charters Towers to Cairns to go on a determined stroll to this cache, found quickly and returned to the car, thanks for another cache walterhellmut.

Only a longstanding DNF can make me go into a swamp at night. Not just any DNF but one on a Walterhellmut. So prolific a hider he has been over the years that I wouldn’t leave one behind forever, even as far out of the way as this one. At least It isn’t up top of a rugged peak. Anyway, the cache was in the tree that I expected it to be so I signed the Domsky log as it was nice and dry. Thanks once again for another adventure. Two for the price of admission Walter. I hope this log finds you well. Have a great weekend.

Decided to head out and see what we could spot. Nothing bigger than a bird today.
Cache was a nice easy find although it did take a couple of goes counting.
Thanks for the cache

We parked at the suggested coordinates collected some information, and began our walk. We decided to continue along this track until the end, up to the lookout before searching for the Geocache.
What a beautiful Trail, and of course the other thing we were keeping our eyes out for was a crocodile, but again none spotted for us yet.
On our return trip along the Trail we stopped at GZ to make the find, and to replace a wet log with a dry one and new plastic bag.
Thanks walterhellmut

Great Northern escape 2022 Day 52. Atherton to Cairns (again) Day 3. Today was a day away from Cairns day. I drove down to Innisfail first thing in the morning and started caching my way back towards Cairns. I went to a swamp and a devils pool along the way. In fact Babinda Boulders National park is a highlight of this section of the Bruce Highway. I ended with a few easy roadside caches in VERY difficult spots to stop. Then back to camp for a late lunch before psyching myself up towards tomorrows hill climb.

This was an interesting walk in a mozzie infested forest. I hope the crocs like it because it was a difficult locating to navigate in, so I was thankful for all the extra help in the cache listing. I did not manage to find a croc, and the others with big cameras at the lookout gave up when I arrived as well. It was then back to the cache where it was found without too much difficulty, but it was soaked and could not be signed. I will attach an image of the container as a log.

Thanks for the cache Walterhellmut

Why does it still happen to us, that we are so much under-prepared? It's all in the title and again we don't have muzzy spray and you want muzzy spray here! While Mr TMR counted sleepers Mrs TMR got the tape measure going and luckily, we both got to the same conclusion. On the short walk to the cache we saw 2 turtles sunbathing and several large spiders sitting in their webs strung across the path. Followed by a cloud of mosquitos we didn't really come to enjoy the beauty of the swamp. The hint was quite misleading but we could sign the log book after only a little search. We didn't make it to the viewing platform but headed on to Josephine Falls, where our trip was going to take us today.

Ticking off a couple of my ‘WANTED’
geocaches today.

I have walked right past this spot many times in the past and I didn’t even know it was here until I started geocaching.

After searching thoroughly for 20 minutes, in the hollow of rotting wood, the leafy nooks and after consultation with fellow geocachers, I decided that it was lost to the deeper earth thanks to environmental conditions of the area.

The log has been replaced in a small clear plastic container. It no longer resides in the hollow as the previous post suggests. It’s tucked away on the opposite side to the walking track. BYOP. Enough room for small swaps only.

Special mention goes to BenM70 for helping me to the location.

Anyone would think that deciphering a walterhelmet mystery or multi would be the hardest part of those caching experiences. I ofter feel like i’ve won gold at the special olympics just getting the checker to go green. This time, however, that was the “easy” part after I was queried about this one by LOuLouRou on the way back from Walsh’s pyramids a month ago. I got the details then but was too dark to go fishing for it that day. The mozzies were pretty thick during the day, so I have no idea how i’d get anywhere near the cache at night. I forwarded on the info as she’d been down there a couple of times and struggled with it. So I thought she would have logged it between now and then living closer than me to the area. I made a point to pop out here. And probably should have picked a less overcast day to attempt it. My GPS and smartphone were arguing with each other as to what the gz would be and I struggled to find the prize at what I thought would have been an interesting tree to hide a cache in. One day I might attempt this again. Deflated once again. Joining your club Bretto77.

Great little walking track. Well prepared, we came with a measuring tape and got the required data. The checker said that our calculated coordinates wouldn’t be spot on, but within a 30 feet radius. Not sure where we made a mistake to miss the sweet spot, but turns out that what we calculated was, despite the thick canopy, actually exactly on the spot.
It still took a couple of minutes to identify the cache due to the extensive leaf litter and so many hiding spots... Also, we interpreted the hint as it being hidden high, though that is not the case.

Despite having not seen any crocs, it was a nice track and the rest on the bench at the end of the track was well worth the time. Thanks

Might come back another day when our brains are working better and we have mozzie spray

Today we stopped in Innisfail for lunch and decided to stay, strange that. After lunch we checked out Cachly and saw there is a 'Walter' cache not far up the road, so the decision was made to do this multi.
After reading the cache notes we took, what we felt was the more doable option for us, option B. Hubby counted the sleepers as I just could not seem to focus on them and when getting near the middle they all ran into each other. I even moved closer down the bank of the creek, checking for croc's of course, to get a better view but this was one number that I needed to trust hubby with.
This done and the geochecker giving us the thumbs up off we went to find a cache. What a lovely walk we had, we spotted a croc, who was sunning himself on the river's edge, we heard birds and things that scurried in the undergrowth. Another one of those fantastic places we would have missed if it was not for the people who place caches for us to find. From past history we have always found this CO to go the extra mile when creating their caches.

Found at 4:12 PM GAFF3.
Last cache for the day and unfortunately there was a bit of interpretation and head scratching involved. Finally worked it out and then went to locate the cache along a cool and pleasant track.
I was lucky to find the cache as the GPSr suddenly wouldn't settle and when I did find the cache the GPSr was showing 12 metres distance. So hard to get good co-ords under this thick cover.
Thanks Walterhellmut.

Today we explored the coast area to find the caches that we had not done since our last visit and this was one of them. At the start we worked out the questions, compared with each other and came up with some co-ords that gave us a solution that the geo checker liked, after a short walk to GZ we made a quick find.

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

The last one for the day, after which we headed to Garradunga hotel for the night - great place! Absolutely loved this cache. The multi part had us a little confused but we ended up with coords that the checker liked so off we went. A lovely walk and we managed to spot two crocodiles today!! [^] Eaten alive by mosquitos but we got to GZ and found the cache so totally worth it Smile. TFTC

While spending 16 months abroad, travelling through all states of Australia and also having a two months break in Thailand I did a lot of geocaching.
After many, many caches accompanied by the strong will not to write any standard logs, I ended up with more than 1000 finds, all waiting for an official log. After intense considerations and carefully weighing my options, you now receive this special limited edition numbered log.

This really is a unique log and my find #99 (A little bit sad it isn't #100!)
I loved this place so much! It was really magical. And even though it's been more than two years right now that I've been there I still remember the feeling I had beeing there.
It was sunny at fitst, then it rained a little bit after that the sun came out again and there was a rainbow. And I've seen a crocodile, too. But it was too far away to get it on a picture properly. But have a look at my pictures.
If that place isn't beautiful, I don't know what is!
This Cache definitely gets a well-deserved favourit point for leading me to this place! ?
Thanks a lot walterhellmut!

Greetings from Germany.
Keep on caching!

Driving to cairns to drop a dear friend at the airport. Made a slow trip and stayed overnight at the beach here.
After pitching the tent we went for this cache.
Arrived at the parking as the sun was about to set. When we knew where to go it was dark there. A fast march to the coordinates where a large cane toad kept watch. Luckily no crocs tonight.
Thanks for the adventure

I particularly wanted to do this cache for a Challenge I am doing to do with caches and a certain proximity to my home. You would think I would have looked a bit harder at the description.

Up turns Fangsoki, without any equipment to do the cache Twisted How to measure? I know the size of A4 paper - and I have that - maybe that would help? I considered the options of how to solve this. I had a major maths failure - but eventually got there.

By the way, if there is any doubt they use that train line / bridge, a cane train motored on past while I was working out my answers. Heed walterhellmut's warning about not going on the bridge!

I made my way into the area. The moment I stopped for photos, mozzies descended on me. Disappointing Twisted I had spent the whole trip devoid of mozzies - until today. Who would have thought a swamp would have mosquitos? Razz

My way to sort the mozzie problem : move like a cut snake Razz I motored through the forest. I overshot GZ and made my way back. A few circumnavigates of my GZ and I soon had the prize in hand. Yes! It was in great condition. I dropped in a trackable that wants to hang around rivers - well there's one for you Razz

A lovely area - wish I had read the description. But I have a sense of pride that I sorted it with what I had in hand. TFTC walterhellmut Smile

Had the correct co-ordinates and what looked like the correct tree. We searched for ages but gave up in the failing light. There was a lot of leaf litter and termite activity around the hide and we could not find the container. It may still be there but well hidden or covered. Great spot and walk beside the waterway with lots of butterflies and birds. Thanks for bringing us here Walter.

Our first cache in Northern Queensland and great one to start with indeed. A great walk in that we really enjoyed. These are our favourite types of caches, much better than urban ones any day. Just a pity that we didn't spot any crocodiles today, just a few logodiles.

This was one of the easier "Walter" caches Brahms6 and I have attempted. As with many other cachers, Brahms6 and I chose solution (b) to assist in identifying the final GZ.
After carefully pacing, counting, adding and subtracting we were left with a workable set of co-ordinates.
Knowing Walter's preference for buttress roots and strangler figs we soon had a possible hide in sight.
The cache was a brown soup, filled three-quarters full with water. We did our best to demarinate the contents, but with limited success. The glass bottle is missing its rubber seal and will fill with water again. The log was useless and we did not have a spare. Nothing was left and nothing was taken from the cache.

Brahms6 found with Wazza&Kara. I love railway bridges and walks in the rain forest so this was a perfect cache for me. Especially as I took along my personal maths master to count and cipher. (actually I think even I could have worked this one out on my own). A nice spot and a good little walk. The cache is a bit moist. By that I mean the bottle is full of brown sludge and what looked like a stool sample but turned out to be a very wet log book. We drained it but it needs some TLC. "Sorry didn't have the makings with us to fix it. TNLN TFTC.

Stopped at the parking area and enjoyed the sounds of Orioles in the trees. I used method (b) to get the coords, went to calculated GZ and realised it couldn't be there. So I reviewed my calculations and adjusted my error (maths was never my strong point). Set out once again and had much more success at these coords. I then continued up the hill to look out over the swamp, noting birds and seeing some crocs through my binoculars. Fantastic spot for croc watching. TFTC walterhellmut.

Went in search of the Swap in a Swamp. We could not find it.
We know our coordinates were spot on, but I fear the cache has been muggled.
We did manage to spot a small croc slip back into the river while we were searching and this alone made the visit worthwhile.
It would have been nice to find the cache, but I see it was last found over 6 months ago.
Will be back when we know the cache is available.
Thanks for the Hunt.

Geo-hubby was very keen to check this cache out. We completed option two and set of to locate GZ at 1250. The co-ords were spot on and so an easy find. We saw one very large croc lazing on the bank below catching some rays.
Fabulous place, we thoroughly enjoyed the location. Thanks for bringing us here.

Lovely spot and a mathematical challenge to round off our day. didn't feel like shooting any bearings so we plotted out option two. A great walk and the view from the hill is spectacular.

Thanks Walterhellmut, for taking us to this place. Have lived in Cairns six years, and often said we should visit here, but it is always out of the way. This cache should be a "must-do" for everyone. Lovely walk, easy to find cache, great view from the hill, AND we got to see two large crocodiles in their natural habitat. Plus, our next cache on the list was Old Garra Hideaway, so we even had a coldie waiting for us!! Took a pink grub, left a penny.

08-Jun-08
[Teamed with Mike FNQ we went in search for this one.
Decided to use the first lot of instructions as we had a tape measure. We came up with ]sixteen[ across the flats of the nut but that turned out to be incorrect. On the way to what we thought was going to be GZ we spotted a likely location for the hide but continued passed. Once we realised our bearings were wrong we replotted and to our surprise it took us straight to the place we had commented on earlier.
When we arrived back at the cars we used a socket set to confirm the nut size of ]seventeen[. Our advise is to make two bearing readings before you head off and one of them will become obviously wrong.
