We searched high, we looked low, and we really thought we'd done enough to crack these, but alas it wasn't to be! It was our 2nd attempt, and we found WP1 on a cloudless day (that makes a HUGE difference), but then couldn't find any sign of WP2. Not to be beaten we tackled WP3 and what a buzz - found it! WP4 though... Sad

So we got WP1 & WP3, but couldn't find WP2 & WP4 - looks like no-one's seen WP4 for a while. Can anyone confirm they're still there please? Smile

Boot65 and I were talking about this cache and teamed up to get it done. We found all but way point 4 and decided to try plotting out a line from 0 to 9 for missing number. So we walked down that line and found the cache in its hiding spot but it was not covered. A quick signing of the log and we covered the cache as it should have been. Thanks Strapz for a great multi. Cheers

1695. Found it with Chalk It Up. I had performed a recce on this one a while back and after finding one of the WPs and running out of day light gave it away for another day. This time with another set of eyes, WPs 1,2 & 3 were all discovered, but no luck with number 4. We then played with some numbers and created a line to walk. We could eliminate a few spots so started at the other end. Shortly after, we found ourselves looking at an exposed container. The log was signed and some camo added to the hide.
Thanks scrapz for a neat cache and some nice views to go with it.

Bwaarrrgh i still am having issues with the waypoints. I can see WP3 from my house, so it'll always be up the road, taunting me. Smile

I'll be back.

Have been eying this multi off for a while now. So when the geo-wife said "Lets go for a walk with geo-dog" I took the plunge. Great multi Scrapz - it had as scrambling all over the hillside. All the way points were found after some poking around. Could not find the missing number so extra points for us. We all enjoyed this cache, particularly the views.

Found on a days caching run with The Rats in the southern suburbs of Canberra.

A nice walk around this hill early on a Sunday morning in the cold. TFTC!

This was one of a few caches that Steeba and I managed to grab on days caching around Canberra.
It was a crisp cool morning to be walking around here, but the reward was worth it.
Thanks

Hooray! Another former DNF and a pesky multi crossed off my list. After a second failure at Oxley rock hopping the Geowife and I decided to have a crack at this one. There was a postie having a break on the steps near WP1, but he was far enough away and the grass was long enough to hide my activities. The grass here has made this cache a 4 * cache I reckon and WP1 ended up being the easiest. Actually WP2 was pretty easy, but WP3 was about 5 metres out and surrounded by grass with WP4 even worse! I found them all though and then took the wrong path around the hill to GZ. The sun had gone behind clouds and there was a lovely breeze blowing so we enjoyed the walk.

At GZ the container was found easily and I noted that one of the clips was broken off. I had to pull quite hard on the second clip to undo it and ended up ripping it straight off too Sad Sorry about that, but I think it is due for a new container now. This one is a bit UV affected. Contents were dry though.

God damn it.
Walked up here, with a borrowed gps, it was lost, I was lost, couldn't find anything at any checkpoint (or I'm going blind..again.)
If it makes me feel any better, I live at the bottom of the streetish, so I can always try again, another day.

Second go with this and came up with the goods. Perhaps is was because I was on my own with no kids this time. Came up the hill form the other side so started at WP C. Took a bit of scratching about to find the first clue, one found made the others a bit easier, but still a lot of looking about.

Thanks

After three visits finally found the number at WP1 (well, actually found by the 10yo geokid) - easy find at the other three WPs after that and at the GZ.

Welcome back to caching DR after three years absentia, with a DNF.......

Found the first three waypoints after a bit, fourth eluded me....then noticed I'd lost my wedding ring..spent the next hour retracing every damn rock I'd turned over!

NOT HAPPY DOCTOR! If anyone comes across a white-gold wedding band please drop me a line!

Grrrrrrrrrrr.

HOORAH! Well..................on a revisit to look for my ring, found WP4, the cache AND MY RING!

Couldn't find any of the first 3 WPs despite two visits over the last couple of weeks + noticed this is an area frequented by late night revellers, so may have gone MIA.

Well we started on this, got to WP1 fairly easy. Lots and lots of rock's, lots of grass and a phone GPS that had less idea than I did. Had a bit of a hunt but gave up pretty quickly, will come back with a propper GPS and no kiddies next time.

Two of the Dino's went after this cache. Lucky Junior Dino number one came along as she was responsible for finding WP 1 and 4. WP 4 was a little tricky as it was very well camouflaged.

Cache was in hand pretty quickly once at the GZ.

You know what? You were right. I failed at the first hurdle. I should have known better than to attempt a multi with geokiddy in tow. I suck at multis and puzzles at the best of time and this extra baggage was just a little too much.

11-Jun-09
Attempted this a couple of months ago with someone's visiting geo-kid who thoroughly enjoys this sort of thing but alas we came unstuck at WP4. As it was very nearly dark and the child was going to be late for his dinner if I didn't take him home the search was abandoned thinking I would search again another day.

As it was only one digit missing I surmised that even without it there were only 10 possible sets of coords and after a few quick calcs decided 5 of them were highly unlikely and one improbable leaving only 4 real options.

As I was nearby today I decided on a quick stop. Thought I might start at the furthest away and work my way back however as I walked past GZ (even without consulting a map or gps) I thought - "Wow - that looks like a perfect cache possy...I'll just have a look..." Yep - turns out I was right so not sure which set of coords that spot ended up being but it must have been one of them! Thanks Scrapz - glad to be able to tick this one off.

2159.

Like so many others I was unable to find WP4 but a bit of extrapolation and the cache was soon found. I certainly upset plenty of organisms by disturbing their enviroment looking for this one...

Thanks scrapz for the cache.

[;(] Found waypoints 1,2,& 3 all quickly and without any problems and was anticipating another tick on the list but WP4 got us undone. Was wandering the area back and forth several times but widening the search zone didn't seem to help. In the end failing light saw the geo-kiddie and I abandon the attempt with promises to try again another day.

I figured this one was of the sneaky sort and after 3 misses I was running out of ideas, but at WP4 I found one and that meant I could figure out what to look for at WP1-3. On to GZ for another great visit to this hill. Thanks.

771 - I decided to complete both of scapz's multis at the same time. I knew this one may cause some difficulty so I had my Phone A Friend help prepared.

I did need it on one occasion but I was soon back on track and located the cache at GZ. An enjoyable walk around here.

As linFox and I drove up to someone we spotted some acting 'geolike' near one of the waypoints, but by the time we had parked and got there they were gone. We had a bit of a look around but came up with nothing so we continued over the hill. When I saw FarmerFrentzen (of course I didn't know it was him at that stage) with a GPS in hand I performed the 'I'm a geocacher too' GPS wave and walked over to start looking. Unfortunately we didn't find anything there, but after returning to the previous WPT FF found the number within a few seconds. At that point we decided we would try guessing where the cache was, so we started checking the possible locations, and eventually found the cache in a unexpected location.

Thanks, Jezzza Xtreme.

Last today with JezzzaXtreme.

We didn't have much luck at WP1, and we met up with FarmerFrentzen at WP4 who had similar troubles both there and here. Eventually we gave up and retried WP1, where the number managed to turn up in a matter of seconds.

We had 3 from 4 now so that was enough to give a general line. We looked down, then up, then eventually made the find.

Thanks!

After reading some of the previous logs I decided to approach this one this afternoon starting at WP3. With geokiddy in tow we found WP3 and WP2 fairly quickly however that is where the easy run ended.

We headed over to WP4 and after 15 minutes or so without luck pushed onto WP1 to see if we could make a go of it. A further 10 minutes yielded nothing so we moved back to WP4 to see if anything had been overlooked. Just as we were starting to look again JezzzaXtreme arrived with a friend after they also had no luck at WP1. After a thorough search of the area we again failed to turn up WP4 so it was off to WP1 again for a final look that yielded the result in less than a minute. Phew................

With a limited number of possibilities for the final hiding place we headed off to the potential GZ coordinates, by this time the geokiddy had had enough caching and was on the verge of screaming. Eventually the cache was found with a bit of guess work and I was able to get the geokiddy home to mum for dinner before being shot.

The proximity of the GZ to Balboa was surprising given the young age of this cache. TNLN and TFTC.

We parked close and found WP4 first, now knowing what we were after, we quickly found the others although WP1 caused some consternation. But then a quick GZ find.

We found the Golden Numbers with a fair amount of controlled scrabbling ... a short walk later and we found the GZ. Trainee Diplomat and I both spotted the cache at the same time ...

Spent a good 45mins around Waypoint AA but no luck. Checked out near the other waypoints then decided to give "Balboa" a go - with success.
I'll need to return to this multi cache site after studying the clues a little more.

I liked Balboa, did it a couple of times with various ppl. But I enjoyed more. Wink We found every WP on the trip around, and enjoyed a familar stroll around the hill. Was some nice views on sunset, and then it was off for a late dinner past Dominos on the way home. Thanks for the nice walk. Smile

18.08hrs We had no problems finding any of the golden numbers. We were slowed down at W3 by a few passing muggles other than that we had smooth sailing. Great fun for the geokids as well!

I started at A, had a good look around but couldnt find anything. I thought I'd try one of the other WPs, figuring that once I found 1 and knew what I wsa looking for it would get easier.

Had a good search around B, but couldnt find anything either. Starting to get discouraged, I gave C a go, also for no result. So I gave up and went looking for Balboa. After finding that, one the way back to the car I decided to check out D...and finally found something!

So I returned to A, and found it immediately. B and C followed in due course, and with a sense of deja vu, I was off to the cache.

Thanks Scrapz for a nice little multi which for some reason proved very difficult for me, a least for a while.

Found it late this afternoon with Secretsquirrel-BJC. SS has been here before but joined in the fun.

Managed to find all the numbers, which was an improvement on my first visit to this spot. Came here once before but neglected to bring all the WP's - doh!

A nice easy find and we were off.

Took coin.

Such beautiful views up here, I got out and did the cache again with Captain Tomato.

Between Mrs Bent, the Geopooch and I we managed to find all the WPs. A was probably the quickest buit none of them took more than 5min. Great hill with some veryt nice houses on it. We signed the log then hiked back to the car. Thanks Scrapz.

1123. As it happened I parked about mid-point of all the walking required. Wandered aimlessly at WP2 but all others found fairly easily. Judging by the tracks at furthest possible GZ a number of us have visited this spot. A couple of hops and the cache was in hand.

TFTC and the work that went into creating it.

Only found WP 1 and 4, but that was enough work out a line to follow and find the cache.

14-May-08
oops, turns out I found this using an old printout, waypoints one and two were found easy enough but run out of things to look at at WP3. I was going to walk the line but it turned out that I didn't need to.

Found clues at WP1, WP3 and WP4 immediately - hidden from the muggles and good for cachers. Now WP2 took some time - three times. Twice before I retrieved the cache, and once after I found the cache. I was determined to find it - and I did - well done Scrapz! I enjoyed the hunt and also the wonderful views across to the mountains.

Like everyone else we couldn't find the first number. Once we knew what we were looking for, we considered going back but decided it couldn't be too hard to guess. First guess was right, but unfortunately our search was not close enough and we gave up too easily to go on to another GZ, which was clearly not promising. Then we came back to the first guess, and had it inside a minute!! Took two TBs to bring to the event next weekend, and left a TB. Thanks Scrapz.

Wow got to the first number and almost decided to give up – the possibilities were endless! I recon it would be easier to draw a line at south 26.625, and walk along that until you find the cache! In the end, I managed to find the second and third numbers, so that shortened my line somewhat! Found cache quickly. TNLN, thanks again scrapz.

04-May-08
Found it before the recent changes.

Although, like everyone else, gave up on WP1 after about 20 minutes. Found WP2 & WP3 and had an idea what the missing link might be, but didn't feel like wandering around blindly. E-mailed both the owner and another recent 'finder' to confirm my thoughts on the missing WP1.

Eventually found the cache, signed the log, took TB, left nothing and thanks for the cache.

Cheers,

After seeing the problems people are having with this one I'll nip up there and sort this out...might move a few waypoints around

As with the others, couldn't find the first number, searched up, down in under etc etc. Oh well, off I went, found the other two, nice! Then sat down and worked out the possibilities, the 2nd one turned up the goods. Took a TB, and a Tealby pathtag (yay), then on the way back checked for WP 1 again, looking in the obvious places, AND the not obvious places, and a bit away from the actual coords, but still didn't find it, even knowing what I was looking for. Oh well, Congratulations and thanks for the 50th cache celebration.

FTF!! Hooray - always helps when everyone else is at work!

Got to WP1 & couldn't find the golden number. After wandering around in circles aimlessly for quite some time (& almost at the point of recording a DNF) I decided to move on to WP2 to see if that was any easier & it sure was - found it almost immediately. Instead of going back to WP1 I decided to go on to WP3. That took a little longer, but I still found it relatively easily. Then using 2 of 3 numbers I made an educated guess on the final number - my 1st 2 guesses were not going to get me anywhere likely, but my 3rd try was the lucky one & the cache was in hand very quickly.

#139 - Congratulations Scrapz on reaching the big 50.
Well that wasn't the most efficient search I've made Sad. I couldn't find the first number, although I spent ages searching. Found the next two easily. Had a second look for the first number then decided to guess. I am afraid I guessed wrongly at first (although it was logical in hindsight). Meanwhile Tealby guessed correctly and achieved the FTF. Congrats Tealby.
