Find #1514. Found @ 12:15.
We're holidaying in Cairns and doing holiday type things, but today I decided to take a walk along the gully looking at trees.
I worked out the location for WP1 the other day, but parked at the kids playground / duck pond near the original coordinates to take in the entire experience. I had a nice leisurely stroll looking at the flora and fauna. Of particular interest were many lizards scurrying away from the intruder, and a bird that could have been a brush turkey.
I arrived at WP1 coordinates and inspected the structure at the indicated location, but found nothing. I checked the hint and realised I was looking at the wrong structure. I repositioned myself and adjusted my thinking, but it still took me a good 15 or so to find the nicely camouflaged container, even though it was hidden exactly as I expected it to be.
I found a little gecko lizard guardian on WP1 container, but I won't attach a picture because it would give too much of a clue.
With GZ coordinates, I continued my walk and found the container in good condition. There is no sign of trackable listed as being in the cache though.
On the way back to the car I took the path on the other side of the gully to get the most out of my visit. Even though it was not too hot, I was still dripping wet when I was done.
Now with a multi under my belt, all I need is a puzzle find to add to my total for the state to qualify for the QLD section of a challenge cache (based in Victoria).
Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the cache Spinmeout.

Found the coordinates for the final location ages ago, but only got around to getting it today! It's a nice walk through the center of suburbia. Thanks Spinmeout for the Multi : )

Finally got to mark this one as completed. With the humorous company of Stinky, found this one after doing a few laps in the car to get to the coordinates. I still maintain that the GPS was wrong, not me..

Visited our cache today to make sure all was well.
Cache was in its correct place and well hidden by the last finder.
We have replaced the container and the log as the previous one was damp.
Added some bits and pieces and a TB that we have had for way too long (found it in the bottom of my backpack, sorry)
All good to go. Please make sure the lid is replaced tightly and upright to stop water damaging the contents.
Happy Hunting.

DID NOT FIND. Thanks to Spinmeout for some tips on this. Finally got around to looking for this. Short walk from my place to the start. Nice walk with the Geokid to the first Cache, found that loaded up the second. Got to the rock wall and searched for about 40mins. Could not find this. Scoured the whole area, even crawled through the creek. Nothing. Will go back and have another look.
Second trip to this one and today I had the first stage in my hand quickly. The sun was not in my eyes which made the container easier to spot. Loaded the next co-ordinates into the GPS and soon had the cache in hand and the log signed although it is a little damp. SL, TNLN, TFTC Spinmeout

The GPS headed me off to about 9 Metres away the stairway structure and wanted to take me down a bank to a creek bed but after looking at the hint I then returned to the stairs. Looked for 30 minutes but clould not come up with the magnetic on this occasion. Will check my co-ordinates with the CO and come back.
1st cache was easy find. Had to clear out a nest of ants first. Eldest Geokid (Jaelee) quickly found the second cache on arrival at GZ. Great walk. Enjoyed searching for this cache.

We have checked this one before and found it needed some repairs. Today we cleaned out the final cache container, took out all the rusty metal objects and washed out the cache. Replaced the logbook with a log sheet and new plastic ziplock bag with pencil. Replacing the cache back into its orignal position. The wet weather has made the clay soil around here mud, so the cache area looks messy (don't wear your best clothes). Dry season should improve things. We then went to the 1st waypoint and replaced the coordinate sheet with a new laminated one, so hopefully it will survive a bit longer in the weather.
Please replace this waypoint cache as found or it can be seen or worse will fall off and be lost.
All good to go, Happy Hunting.

Thanks Hotwheelz for the cache update. With all the rain we have had lately, we knew that some of our caches will need maintenance. We will disable for the time being until the rain stops and we can get our act together and repair as required.
Sorry, it won't be long.
Sorry, it won't be long.
Found it (by sheer luck) on our morning of caching. Made it to the first stage ok to find that the sheet with the stage 2 co-ords was wet and couldn't read the co-ords. On the way back to the car, I looked over (after reading the spoiler) and thought we would have a quick look. Sure enough, the caters eye had us right on it.
Stage 1 will require some maintenance.
Took the NZ Football TB. Left a HOTWHEELS Trackside car.

After calculating the co-ordinates for the first cache at home I made it to the first GZ. My GPSr wanted me to launch myself of the steep bank and into the creek. Having found a few of Spinmeout's caches before I knew the the co-ordinates should be a little closer than that. I then used the hint and realised I had made a mistake somewhere. Using the hint I decided to give it a go anyway and see if I could come up with the first cache. Would you believe it was in the first place I looked? You have to be lucky sometimes! With the final location discovered it was a pleasant walk to find the final cache.

Finally got around to going back to this one and found cache where I'm certain I looked before !!! Quite a lot of stash so I didn't feel guilty taking the Toyota badge even though I had nothing on me to leave in return. Cache is dry, the only thing a bit damp is the logbook, but quite OK to sign as is. TFTC

We have been notified that the recent rain has made the card in the first cache unreadable. Will go out and replace it with a more weather proof card.

Went for a wander looking for this one a few weeks ago now with waynecarly. After getting the coords off the pic we set off. Even though the weather was ok at the time the ground underfoot was very soggy. Had a bit of trouble with reception under the trees looking for the second WP but after stepping back and thinking where it might be it was found soon enough. Off we went to find the final GZ. Gps took us to it fine... but we couldnt find it right on dark. Decided to wait for fine weather to come back to look for this one and found it today after only a few mins. Cheers for the walk spinmeout.
Chatmanais & I decided that the fine weather today would be perfect for a second attempt at finding this one, as the previous search in dimming light was unsuccessful. After making our way straight to gz, Chatmanais located the cache in a spot we are sure we had checked previously, but apparently not thoroughly enough. Signed the log and returned the treasure to its hiding spot. TFTC
Had to come back for a second look to locate the first cache. Vision must have been better on this second visit as the first cache was quickly located.
With the new co-ordinates in hand the site for the second and final cache was located. A brief search of many nooks and crannies and the cache was located.
Log book signed, with nothing taken and nothing left. Thanks for another enjoyable cache Spinmeout.

Another look today, and we were able to find both coordinates and cache.
Our initial coordinates were correct we just didn't look in the right place.

Despite a good look we failed to locate the first cache. Will need to recheck coordinates when we get home.
We enjoyed the walk, and the creek was flowing.
We enjoyed the walk, and the creek was flowing.
We solved the puzzle whilst sitting in our caravan and then with two slightly different sets of co-ords in hand we headed off for the cache. We thought one set of co-ords would stand out but to our surprise both locations had a suitable cache spot! After a short search around we found were we should be and then with final co-ords in GPS it was off to the cache! A quick find, signed the log and re-hid the container. Thanks for showing us this great spot - hmmm... think we had better win lotto soon!
Have updated the cache listing as the Information Sign is no longer in place.
I have added a picture in the Gallery that will give the answers to the first cache co-ordinates.
Happy Hunting.

After the last DNF log I went out and visited our Initial Cache coordinates. The SIGN has been removed by the Council making it impossible to find the other caches.
I will check with my sources inside the Cairns City Council and find out what is happening to the sign.If it is being refurbished then I will reinstate the cache when it is back in place. If the sign is no longer going to be part of the area I will revise the Puzzle and reinstate the cache.
From today both cache containers have been removed for maintenance.
Thank you for your patience.

Not sure what information board we were looking for, but after looking for 20 minutes or more (GPS was sending us to the front garden of a house by the creek) and wandering up each path for a bit (Cape York Botanical Walk was rather liquid today), we gave up.
Found the first Cache but sadly not the second. Our gps keeps jumping around due to the trees and scrub in the area. We are a little disappointed as this was our 4th attempt in the area.
Wow what a hot day it was to go goecaching. I think we found the spot but not cache. Will contact directly to see if we are on the right track. What a lovely walkway and we saw some beautiful butterflies. Nice place for all ages.
Checked both Waypoints today. Cache containers are in both places and in good condition.

Had a very interesting walk, tracking down this cache. The grounds at Forest Gardens certainly are a step above most of the other suburbs. Had to use my instincts to find the 2nd cache as my GPS consistently lead me slightly astray, but found the last cache spot on. Really enjoyed the cache, many thanks Spinmeout.
It is a really awarding walk, showing the different vegetation zones up North.

Either track will get you to your destinations. The first one will take some searching as there is plenty of steel work to attach to. Be careful replacing final cache as hiding hole has dropoff at rear and we almost lost cache down this hole.

Nice job Spinmeout.
New exactly where to go as we have some friends that live round the corner from the start.
Got all the glues from the board and fed the new co-ords into the GPS.
Spinmeout's fitness level has lifted I thought cause the GPS said 1.6km's away. That can't be right so I checked again. Amazing what one wrong number can do.
The last time I walked Cape York it involve thousands of corrugations and bull dust, this was much easier.

A very pleasant walk on Sunday afternoon. I really enjoyed the walk, the developers have done a great job with this area. Found the caches pretty easly with the hints. On the return trip spotted Beckal3 looking for the first cache. This is the first time I have seen other people hunting for a cache, and it made me wonder what I must look like at times!
Forgot swaps, so did a DIDO to drop off the SkySurfer TB. Took the penny.
Thanks for the cache, this is a great walk.

Really enjoyed this one. First waypoint was found easily, but had some trouble locating the final cache. After spending 30 minutes turning over every rock in the creek (I know, we weren't thinking too logically at this stage), we eventually found it. If only we had sat back and thought about it a bit more. This one is a lot of fun, in a really surprising location.
Thanks for this great cache, Spinmeout! This is in my Top 3 favourites so far! Didn't get a FTF or even a 2TF, but I can claim a virtual Bronze Medal!
Took the family, with young 'uns in the double pram, for a lovely Sunday morning walk. How do regular people get to discover such great spots hidden within their own city without the aid of geocaching, I wonder?
We were most impressed with the clever hides and the clues. Took our time to enjoy the walk and then took the kids to see the ducks in the lake when we got back. Good playground and kiddies area just near the walk, so all up it was a great morning.
