but anyway its a nice drive through some different countryside.

Got there just on sunset, and couldn't find anything by torchlight. Mind you if I'd had my wheels with me instead of the daughter's, I would have had a better set of tools with which to search. Will be back ...
Have tried this one a few times and for some reason we can't find it, even with the aid of a torch etc
After talking to a few at the event today I think you need to up the D rating on this one as a 1.5 is pretty easy to find and this one isn't that easy to find or get.

This was our last for the day having spent the day at Kryal Castle and geocached as we made our way home. We thought this was going to be an easy drive by, but...what a tale to tell. I won't bore you with the details, instead, the final part to this story saw me squeezed in a tight spot with a tool from mother nature and a light provided by man. A little team work with geohubby and eureka the cache was in hand. What a way to finish the day. Thanks for this most very interesting cache.
2 months later and I'm back for a return visit !! I wasn't going to let this hide get the best of me. Had a good scratch around and finally spotted the hide. That's not going to be an easy retrieval.... With the help of mother nature I finally had the prize in my hand. Glad to have a smiley on this one. TFTC Kinkell1
Found it! Was really difficult to get it out took some teamwork with @caitietwentysix! TFTC
This was the first DNF for me today. Looked in every nook and cranny with no luck. Even employed a few tools to help me search. I had the torch, a telescopic mirror and an extendo grip thingy, with claws on the end. Maybe it's there and it just wasn't my day !! I will return !! Thanks for the hunt Kinkell1.
With the warmer weather there were no troubles with the road, and it all was smooth sailing. Well maybe not sailing but definitely driving! A poke here and a poke there, and I soon had the right hiding spot. This is a magnificent old tree for sure.
I left a trackable for the next lucky finder.
Thanks to Kinkell1 for the cache.

On the road to Moorabool Reservoir and this was a handy stop, prop and drop into the log. TFTC kinkell1
Found this morning with my 3 year old geokid whilst we were out adventuring. We almost gave up. Tricky find but got there in the end. I wasn't game to place my hand in far as when we arrived rabbits ran into the tree. A torch helped to find it before a stick was used to retrieve. Also we took a pathtag - our first ever. Thanks
An nice find at this lovely old gum tree. Found it a bit hard to find and retrieve as it was very deep in. Managed to flick the container out with a stick. Signed log and returned. TFTC
A beautiful big old tree. Imagine the stories it could tell! Thanks for bringing me here.
On our way to the OzMega in Murray Bridge picking up a few caches on the way. We thank the many cache owners for putting out and maintaing these caches for our pleasure. There have been challenges as well as simple drive byes to break the journey, there have been a few DNF's also.
Apoligies for the generic log but we plan to do quite a few logs in the next few days.
This one almost had us beaten but a few gadgets helped track down this critter. Thanks Kinkell1

Markndee and the harrowang's are getting to the end of their day after attending Tilley's birthday event in Ballan. Loved this Old man Gum, but it took a while for him to give up the cache he was hiding. Persistence paid off and clever mr harrowang retrieved the prize for us. SL at 5.30pm Left: numbat. Carefully we re hid the cache and continued homeward to Ballarat. # 2033 TFTC Kinkell1 - this one nearly beat us!!!
Found by game gloved assistance from Harrowang at 5:30pm A fascinating specimen of a tree that has obviously been around such a long time and enjoyed by many four footed friends. Glad we were with Harrowang, may not have delved so far ourselves. Took: grey goose. Left: pathtag. SL TFTC again
Out and about with Dutch Frangipani to do some more of the Ballarat and Creswick Caches. We both had our caching eyes wide open today as we found nearly all the caches.
After missing a turn off, we took the long way round to this one. Searched and searched, read the clue and kept searching. Eventually got a stock and started prodding around and heard a thunk that was not wooden. Yes it was the cache. The previous hider certainly has long arms as it was a real effort to retrieve this one.
Thanks for the cache Kinkell1

Last one for the day with Sorceysal and it was starting to get late. "Just one more" we thought. Pulled off the main road and parked right next to the old man (beautiful as he is). We looked for a while in the obvious spots until the clue had us down low. My oh my Sorceysal had to use all of her determination to reach for this one!! TFTC Kinkell1.
The home of the bunnies! Came the easy way what a bummer as in the 4WD and it's raining!! Thanks
Picking up a couple of caches this afternoon with dpkcacher Geokid, we pulled up next to GZ, both kids bailed out, looked around and came up with the cache. We signed the log, took the TB and replaced. Great old tree. Thanks for bringing us here.
On the way home from orienteering in the area. Just about to leave and give up last look founded. Drop Geocoin off. Great location. TFTC

Cache checked today. It is in situ but made a little more accessible.
I still love this tree. It seems to be getting a bit older with less ground support. I hope it doesn't fall over, it's such a stately old man gum tree!

No luck finding this one with johncenalk ...we will try again at another time. Nice tree.
Neat hide, took us a while because we didnt read things fully to begin with. Once found it was signed and returned. TFTC Kinkell1
On a night run with Fergzter this one took a bit to find but after a more of a look the cache was found. TFTC.
Find #591 @ 0950
Heading down to Ballan for the 13+5 event I decided to leave a bit earlier and grab some caches along the way.
Took me a couple of minutes to get a hold of this cache. but a short walk around and a read of the hint, and the hide showed it's self.
Took Small rat and 4x4 car
Left White car and Pockerchip Keyring

Did not take too long to find this well hidden cache by this magnificent Old Man Gum Tree. Log book full so replaced it with a new one. TFTC Kinkell1 and the great Event today.

OK cache, you can run but you can't hide. With the cache eyes firmly on today myself and the Charm Quark went searching. Finally something caught our eye and bango, it was in our hands!
As it eluded me the first time, and is located in a part of the country that means a lot to me, AND it was a lot of fun searching for it, it has gained a favourite for me. TFTC

Another legendary cache run by The Demolition Crew (myself, TrailRunning, Quasar3671 and Rebel Acts). We have dubbed it Ballarat Smackdown II. This was a huge run taking us all the way from near Cardinia, via the northern suburbs of Melbourne, to Bacchus Marsh and Melton and finally Ballarat. A massive loop, and over 100 caches for the run. The company was as always fantastic, a lot of laughs, good dinner, and great caches. Many thanks to all the CO's for the hides, without them we wouldn't have been able to find anything.
After a few DNF's we thought we would have a look anyhow. And we found it...! TFTC. Top tree too.

This cache was found by me today in the company of The Demolition Crew.
While I strive to make my logs personal to every cache, I have far too many logs to do, that I apologise in this instance for using a generic log. I thank you for the placement of this cache as it was one of many that made up a great day for me and the crew..
The Day's Blurb...
The annual holidays is always a great time to relax and take it easy, but not today. The Demolition Crew had decided that after such a long break from caching together that we would start the year off with a bang! So the planning minds were put into operation, and Ballarat Smackdown II was conceived.
The smackdown started along way from Ballarat, in fact in the hills around Cardinia Reservoir and from there is was a push across the northern suburbs of Melbourne through Melton & Bacchus Marsh. It being such a hot day, the waters of Pykes Creek Reservoir cooled and refreshed us, and we were soon off to start on the Ballarat caches.
Since our first Smackdown in the area, many new caches have popped up, so it was a fruitful run which ended well into the early morning. A couple of caches were replaced as a way of saying thanks to those who took the time to place them, and I think in the end my tally was well over 100 for the run.
It was a completely awesome day, and I thank you for placing the cache. We will return to the Ballarat area soon as there are still a number of caches we left undiscovered.

Attempted to find at 2.19pm.
Looked everywhere, high and low to no avail.
You say 'the cows have been out'......is there a chance that they have taken it???
Would really like to return one day to have a better look and come up trumps with the find.
Thanks for bringing us out this way and hope to return again soon one day.

Ok, just realised I had not logged this one. Myself and the Mini Quark searched for this one for quite a while but to no avail.

Oh well, you can't find them all......
Had a good look, just not close enough I'd say. Stuck my head in, with a torch, but nothing could be seen. Checked a few other little spots, but alas no joy.
Thanks anyway Kinkell1.....

Looked in the obvious spot first and didn't see it so climbed in further and still didnt see it. I was worried I might end up falling all the way to Wonderland. With just my legs dangling outa the tree it would have been quite a funny sight to anyone driving past! Thanks Kinkell1
Find #32 (and the last) on a caching trip to Ballarat. Picked this one up on the way home (via a small detour!) This was a great old tree, and while Julz76 looked in one place I went to the other side and soon had the cache in hand. TFTC and for bringing us here!
Pulled up at this one and literally looked in the first place i saw. Not only was I wrong - but I also ended up lying on top of a prickle bush, and spent the next few minutes taking them all out of my leg!
Cathylm found it on the other side. Thanks for the cache.
This was the last one for out trip which saw me getting 33 finds.
Thanks

One of 184 cache finds during our "Ballarat Smackdown" weekend of caching on the 23rd to 25th. There were 13 of us including Blacklegend and three of his kids, Trailrunning, Haveanez and their two boys, Dazrascal and myself amd my two boys Tyler and Cooper. We'd spent a few weeks planning the trip, with every Ballarat Puzzle solved in the area, cache lists and road and route maps all ready to go. We stayed in the Miners Retreat Motel for the two nights and the accomodation and facilities were great. Our goal was simple - find as many caches as possible in the time we were here !
We found a great variety of caches and hides during the three days, which also involved a bit of walking and some 4WD fun as well in the state forests north of Ballarat. The weather was quite cold of the Friday and Saturday morning but eventually cleared to nice sunny weather Saturday arvo and Sunday. We all had a great time, especially the kids who did really well to keep up with the pace we were moving.
Our third day of caching and it was another big day ahead of us before splitting up early in the afternoon. With some four wheel driving, some essential caches to collect and getting 'lost' in the bush and some tricky caches found, the day turned out to be quite an adventure.
With the 'official' Ballarat Cache Smackdown over, it was time to head home, and of course to grab a few more caches along the way. A nice quick driveby as we made our way back to the Mornington Peninsula. My extended reach help with retrieving the cache. Thanks for the hide.

The gum was not the only old thing which caught our eye today. There is a very interesting traditional and very, very old style timber home nearby at the "T" intersection. We bet it could tell nearly as many stories as this tree.

Suscoe third find for the morning.
What a splendid tree.
looked down and found the entrance to Wonderland we think, didn't see Alice or the Mad Hatter but did see a very sleepy snake who was curled up for the winter.
Tried a different spot and there was the cache.
What a clever hide.
Signed the log and returned the cache to its home.

Our last for the day as we headed for home. Sure is a gnarled old tree - with several possible hiding spots - one of which I checked out with a torch and it was really really deep. I was hoping that it wasn't down there as I could have needed Jules Verne to retrieve it. Fortunately we spotted the correct spot and the cache shortly after and signed the log at 4:40pm.

What a challenge. Easy to find very, very difficult to retrieve today. Thank goodness I had some walking tools in the car from yesterday. Didn't help the dirty clothes etc. After many unsuccessful tries taking nearly half an hour, and a nearly about to give up, I tried a new action and the cache was soon in both hands.
TFTC kinkell1 and the challenge whoever was last to replace the cache was. I left feeling very pleased with myself.

Not a real challenge finding the cache - the challenge is in the retrieving. Thanks to our trusty geocaching walking/prodding sticks we managed to retrieve. Whose arms are that long??????????? After we retrieved the cache, replaced and whooah yep, can't help the next finder, sorry... rollin' rollin' rollin'!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the cache.

As we scouted out the Gz in the dark with torch, the good geowife read the last log, and I said Oh No, but the arms were long enough and the cache was soon in hand. Thanks Kinkell1. TFTH...SL...TNLN
Hehe, I looked in the obvious place, then had to do a few more laps before spotting the hiding spot, it was a proper arms reach away. I thought the last finder was a bit rude putting it so far in, then when I replaced it, it rolled right back down there again. Sorry next finder!
Our birthday present for Sue (Kinkell1) was to check out this cache for her after a couple of DNFs..
I am pleased to say the cache is safe, sound, snug and dry in its hidey hole as per Kimkels description! It is camoed to suit its surroundings, but yes, it is there.

1st find for the day, even in the middle of winter was a bit apprehensive retreiving the container!
