Day three - Geo Toroa DunedinFinally the sun has decided to show its faceWith Queensland buddies, Snickersallan, chamad and Wollaston, BenM70, gcovernSigned log as QLD+1Thanks for creating and placing for our enjoyment
Here in the land of the king white cloud to attend the mega in Dunedin. Many thanks to all those involved in the organisation! Today we targeted some oldies and virtuals . Much better weather and lots of fun. Travelling and caching as a group Qld+1. A big hike included! Cheers
DAY Seven (28/10). The nice weather has been turned on today, a very nice day and it has become a very pleasant day to cache. Our team is still playing catch up, we have just the one event for today, we will work around that and make up for lost time. The plan is to finish the rest of aeroplane and albatross, to continue on the dts and a couple as we pass. Oh and then there is the old caches and some whereigos and my favourite letterboxes and multis ... OH so much to do, there is no time for food, lucky its still daylight till 8.30pm. Thanks to the COs for all the caches we found today. It was a great day and all caches were replaced as found.
Our third and final day of the Mega caching with geofriends from Aus before we go our separate ways. Group consisted of Bluewattle, chamad, Wollaston, Willis007, kolour, Ardom, Gcoven, BenM70, and Snickersallan. Logs were signed as QLD+1.A big thank you to all the cache owners who placed this great amount of caches for our enjoyment and the benefit of the geocaching community.Apologies for the generic logs, as I rarely log them whilst travelling around the countryside and tend to do them once back at home.
Day 4 in New Zealand A few virtuals, favourited and some along the ways Have attended the mega site now picking up D/Ts. Made it to this one and made the find with the QLD+1 crew of Paul, Glenda, Allan, Amanda, Mick, Gloria and myself My first overseas trip ever started off eventful with my tree fishing pole joining me in Brisbane after deciding not to travel on my flight. Virgin staff made up for their boo boo, so my adventure could continue stress free but making for a long day Day 1 involved my first FTF in another country, another webcam under my belt, a few virtuals and a couple of favourites. Day 2 involved the drive down to Dunedin, some caches of interest and the nastiest CiTO Ive ever done. Day 3 was D/T series, some planes and others along the way. Thanks wallaceDuo for placing this Mystery for me to convert into a smilie
Today we found (Otago) on our travels. A quick find having solved this one at home last year..so many caches, not enough time! Thanks wallaceDuo for being part of our geocaching fun.
Day ten of our epic New Zealand Adventure with The Morris. We have at last arrived in Dunedin. We spent today riding the Otago Vine clockwise, collecting caches as we came across them.Stopped at Port Chalmers for lunch then caught the ferry to Portobello.Mostly a nice day except for a bit of rain just out of Portobello (but we soon dried off).We were using shanks ponies at this stage having returned our bikes. That made it easier to get to GZ.Spotted the cache on approach. Thanks, Robmc.
Day 10 of our Enzed adventures with Robmc. We arrived in Dunedin yesterday and today we hired bikes to ride the Otago Vine including a ferry ride across the bay.We managed to collect a lot of the puzzles we had prepared for and I think we only had a couple of DNFs. It rained, the sun shone, the wind blew, it was calm - the whole gamut really. Our last for the day and as we had parked the car nearby for the day it was a good chance for a short walk - not that anyone felt like it.Thanks for contributing to the fun wallaceDuo
Never thought I'd EVER find this. One of the few that have been waiting for me to solve since I started geocaching some 12 years ago. I had an idea where the answer MAY be hiding for the last few weeks but was unable to see it, and last week managed to extract some really clear numbers! No idea how this would have been solved back in the day! But then I hit a wall.. the numbers I got weren't all that helpful, and they weren't what eventually lead me to the cache - though the hint was useful! Final spot was honed in on using clues from the comments and various options ruled out with proximity rules. Tried a different place down the road last week but came up with nothing, and today thought I'd try this spot. Couldn't believe when I actually had this cache in my hand. My gosh! So exciting! Still none the wiser how to solve this using the puzzle alone though..!
Solving this has been in the 'to hard' basket for more years than I care to count, then after gazing at it for the umpteenth time I happened to hit on an idea that actually worked and some likely looking numbers were revealed. At GZ today and as others have commented the prickly trees really are prickly and just as we were thinking it was all going to be too much BOOM! Sometimes the simplest ideas really are the best. Found with Spoonz2
We obviously drew the same conclusion about GZ that others had, but after being fooled for a while managed to make the find. Found with Debsnz.
When I was newish to caching I had looked at this cache and immediately thought I will never get this one. I asked Daywalk for a starting point but was totally lost by what she said. Years later i-got-it and I spend a lot of time working it out with considerable help along the way. Today between showers it was time to sign the log book, once again with a hint from as had previously looked.
I ran into a proximity issue with this one when trying to place a cache so it was time to take it out of the "much later" pile and work on it. I teamed up with P&Vee and with some very helpful guidance from a previous finder we worked our way to some coordinates that were quite close to where I had my hide that was rejected. Thanks for this challenge.

Had this one solved before leaving home. Wasnt sure if I could get away to collect while on a cruise holiday but fortunately I made the time. Interesting puzzle, something Ive previously encountered so knew where to look. Thanks again for entertaining me here.
**Wow whee 10 watchers**. Found what we needed after looking at the puzzle a short time after moving to our largest saturation area leaving the relevant signed caches in Southland. After getting help with a similar puzzle years ago, I paf'd a previous finder my solution and got their Ok tick of approval I had the correct solution. *No checker makes life hard* as other groupies used to complain about new puzzles. Where would you hide a checker on the page? ?? Not the puzzle owners I was thinking of with extreme hides.
With my solution saved in PQ for so long, my paf needed a tutorial on what she needed to 'solve' the puzzle herself lo ho ho. The student becomes the teacher lol. After the grotty day we had stuck up in the clouds and suspended moisture on our hill, we parked at our allocated carpark at the Uni whilst Dunnas slept and walked over to the GZ. No one needed towed from our spot today and like others we pass the GZ nearly every day picking the chick up from school commuting far across town to the residence avoiding the worst of the 3.30pm traffic, well just . . . Long way, short way . . . long way wins every time lol. Approached in the early morning gloom laying hands on the micro quickly. Presenting into the prickly trees, I was relieved we didn't have to go down there in the thistles but used the added hint to have the cache in outstretched hand quicker than you could say 'Is the bacon station open yet??' we always miss them or they run out of bacon! Depending on how you look at the GZ, it could be anywhere for several feet. Noice'n'dry giving it's position and paper log sheet was initialed; persevering in hide better than a rusty mint tin. Returned the cache tucked away and off to the next cache. We're on a roll. *High fav **16favs** 2nd Favorite Fan! Heart challenge **20pt 37th** mystery **590pt***. TFTC WD

Cool cache; I needed WilbyWarrior’s help to get me pointed in the right direction as I was going off on a tangent. TFTC, glad I have finally found it after looking at it on and off for months.
spent 6 great weeks in New Zealand with my The start was a bit bumpy (Cyclone Gabrielle) but then it got better and better. We travelled to both islands and discovered a lot. We photographed and filmed many beautiful things, but most of it stayed in our hearts.
Almost everywhere we stopped, a cache was already waiting for us. Most of the caches are well maintained and easy to find.
With mostly very nice weather, we saw a lot of this impressive island. In many places, caches were waiting for us, which were sometimes easy and sometimes difficult to find. This cache was also included and was successfully signed
We puzzled a lot in advance and the tours were well prepared
So this box was also well found.
now I have another on my personal cache card.
many thanks to [^] **?** [^] for the effort and the cache and greetings from Germany

With rebel98 on a whirlwind overnight stay in Dunedin
Solved this one about 5+ years ago, and for various reason could not come and look for the final. This visit it was on the must find list, so here I am, at last signing the log book.
Thanks ? for the hide, loved the solve and so happy to at last turn this one into a smiley

It took us three different times of the day to work out how parking might work for this cache Once the cache was found I had to battle with a beetle to open the container.
Jude_E and I are on another road trip. We stayed in Oamaru last night finishing up at 9pm. Now we're heading for Dunedin. Thanks for hiding this cache ? I appreciate it.

On a caching trip to the Dunedin area with Nosynel. Day 2. This had to be a night expedition due to the bridge being partially closed with road works and impossible to get access or parking. Quite easy at night time! Thanks for the hide and puzzle.

During lockdown I had a break thru for this minimalist cache but was only part way there. I couldn’t work out the next part but was able to deduct clues to its location. Found today after a short search - glad my hunch paid off. After getting the final coords, I’m still none-the-wiser on how to get the solution.Tftc
I started my great and unique round trip over the South Island in Christchurch.
My first major stopover was at Lake Tapeko - here I hiked up to Observation Mountain.
I then planned two days in Mount Cook NP with some unforgettable hikes. My big goal was the Mueller Hut - on a super strenuous hike I reached it.
I continued my journey over the lonely Danseys Pass to Dunedin.
Afterwards I drove along the Southern Scienic Route via Invercargill to Manapouri for some days. On this route I visited many sights and enjoyed the beautiful nature again and again.
I already booked a tour to the Doubtful Sound in advance - another highlight on my tour.
Afterwards I drove on to Queensown and Wanaka. From there I continued over the Haast Pass to the lonely Jackson Bay with storm and heavy rain. Afterwards I drove along the west coast always in pouring rain.
The rain stopped the whole west coast, but I had good rainwear with me. Only high up in Nelson the sun shone again.
Soon I reached the east coast again in Picton and Blenheim and the sun was shining again.
After a few days I travelled back to Christchurch via the beautiful town of Kaikoura.
At the end of my round trip I spent a few more days in Christchurch and its surroundings.
I visited many geological sites and found many caches on my round trip. In Rangiora I visited an event.
I travelled 3418 km and take home a lot of positive experiences.
Thanks to many beautiful caches I was also shown unique locations, historical sites and geological features.
I am overwhelmed by the fantastic and ever changing nature on the South Island of New Zealand - I will definitely come back.
Many thanks to all owners

On a caching weekend to Otago and Southland with Tuolei to pick up old caches, TMGT's, CANZ, solved puzzles and any others that caught our eye along the way. We had a 4 day long weekend planned that would take us around Dunedin on the first day, Tuatapere via Sutton, Balcutha, Mataura and Winton on the second day, Tokanui via Riverton, Invercargill and Bluff on the third day and then back to Dunedin via the Catlins on the last day. Overall we did 1578km and picked up just under 100 caches and managed to knock off most of the caches we had on our list.
Had this one solved this a couple of weeks ago, had a pretty good idea what would be required when I first looked at it and it turned out right.
This cache could have quite easily been the last one for the day as we were tempted by a nearby establishment when we pulled into the carpark. We decided to grab the cache first and then went back to find we could get take out of their fine product so managed to keep going for a few more before sampling it later when we got to our accommodation. All good here, TFTC.

Quite an interesting idea for a puzzle and got there in the end. Swapped solved lists with Bennett24 and he had this one too so we came down here to look for it on day one of our visit to the South.
Got to the area and saw a very appealing building quite close. Debated briefly what order to visit and decided it might be best to do the cache as if we went to the other place we may not be bothered to leave and go anywhere else.
As it was, a quick search at GZ and the goods were turned up. Thanks for the cache, all good here.

Wow! I'm back in town and this is the first geocache I go for. First find for 18 months or 565 days. So happy, happy, happy.
Missed the obvious last visit.
Easy find. All dry and in excellent condition here. TFTC Definitely worth a favourite.

Solved this year’s ago and this wet day while visiting tourist spots in town, I took the opportunity to find it. **Not** an easy find as logged May 2018.
Gave it away after getting a hand full of thistle spines, then having the tree branch I was holding, breaking, sending me tumbling down the bank. No harm done but to my pride, so wet and mucky I flagged it.
Is it true I’m the first to try and find this cache in 15 months?

This was on our "Must Do" list while up for the weekend. We picked a good time, there seemed to be hardly anyone around.
An interesting puzzle that had me thinking for a few weeks. After a point in the right direction I got to a point where I was stumped so close to finishing. A nudge in the correct direction and finally a waypoint staring at me!!! What a relief finding this cache. I have a big thank you to a couple of cachers for their help. TFTC
Yay finally... a bit of team work and away we went and found this one

I've had this in the solved pile for quite a while and this trip I really want to turn some of those solved puzzles into smilies. Pleased to finally make a find after a long unsuccessful search for another and a wherigo that froze part way through. So if there's only one cache today then this one is a very appropriate one. During our holidays in Newzealand we searched some Caches.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this box

Together with arbor95 I am on a holiday tour in New Zealand.
We are two Germans, old friends since a long time. Together we visited a lot of other countries in the past, even before we started geocaching. [^]
For our trip we usually looking for some extraordinary caches.
Therefore we had mostly a lot of fun.
With the right thinking it was a quick found and we signed a new logbook.
Thank You very much for this geocache, for the challenge and for the maintaining.
Greetings from tripleclaus to wallaceDuo.

After sitting on this for a while, seemingly in vain, a wink and a nudge from a kindly cacher set us off on the path to enlightenment...Straightforward find all told, and an enjoyable wee sojourn. TFTC.
After lunch we found ourselves near here and just had to look for the cache. It didn't take long to find.

????? Solved some time ago and spent the day wandering the streets of Dunedin picking up some solved puzzles. Co-ords spot on and no problem locating the cache. Thanks
[white]I'd looked at this puzzle time and time again, but had zero success each time. Finally, a chance remark at an event gave me a starting point - but it eventually turned out to be only a starting point. Back to the "no idea" pile. Then, as I was browsing through some puzzle-making ideas I finally hit upon a possible solution. I found partial success almost straightaway, but put the rest away until after the Mega - when I got back to it I realised I had left out the most dopey of details. Whoops. Still, puzzle solved! Time to go find it.[/white]
[white]Hevic and I went out to nab it this evening, and had more-or-less instant success. However, we noted that the lid of the container, although closeable, is breaking and may not last much longer. The log is getting full too, but with enough room for a few more logs.[/white]
[white]All in all, a very cute little puzzle worth a favourite. Cheers![/white]

Whoop! I solved it with a wee hint but managed to do most of it myself. Glad to have found this at last. Thanks
I no longer have any idea how I worked out the co-ords, and I can't do it again now (?), but I had two sets written down and got it on the first. Thanks.
Logbook is full and current logs are being made around the margins. Container lid is starting to perish and might need to be replaced.
We have a series like this back home so it didn't take too long to work out the final coordinates. Visited GZ today and, after thinking a moment about possible hiding locations, soon had the cache in hand. Noted that the lid of the container is starting to perish and might not hold on for much longer. TFTC.
Wow... No idea even where to start looking... Hoped for a white text of something in the URL but just nothing there. Feel completely lost here !
A true team effort was involved with solving this puzzle - an international team effort as it turned out. I've managed to solve a few of these 'blank' puzzles in the past so I wasn't put off by the lack of information but I only managed to get so far before coming up against a blank wall. Next step was to ask for help online which gave me a further nudge in the right direction. Once I had the correct computer tools, I thought I had solved the puzzle. Unfortunately I was wrong, so it was back to the drawing board to work out what I had overlooked. With the help of a local (and her no longer local daughter) and three Northern Hemisphere cachers, a possible solution came up. And YES there it was, the joy of finding this cache easily matched the joy of finding a FTF! Thanks for this very cunning and clever puzzle.
Dakotacats (Mum) had been working on this puzzle for a few days. She thought she had solved it yesterday but she hadn't. She picked me up from school today all excited because she was adamant she had solved it this time and yes she had. We parked near GZ and I kept lookout while Mum quickly found the cache. Mum was super excited about finding it!! The top of the container had come undone so I screwed it back in place. TFTC.
This was a real 'with a bit of help from our friends' cache. Mrs SoBad thought it was solved in Nelson and we spent a bit of time at the calculated GZ before checking with a previous finder. His general description did not match so a lunchtime check of the information we had had us looking at another possibility which GE said was possible. Luckily we also checked this with other friends - who pointed out the part that Mrs SoBad had misread - and hence a consequential error. Even then we nearly missed it at GZ - until we confirmed levels with the original friend.
Mrs SoBad was keen to find this one because it was the work she had put into it that helped her with a series of similar caches that were set in Nelson soon after this was 'solved'. Luckliy she was less blind when solving those caches and they were found without need for help. Knowing the local area does help decide if coordinates are likely as well.
Thanks for adding to the puzzle solving toolbox.

Nice to solve this cache, luckily I went down the right track first. In the area today, rain briefly eased so scooted over to puck it up.

I had been working on this one for ages with out any progress, but I use Chrome most of the time. Got lucky with Firefox and almost cracked it. I had thought the coords were 60 odd meters from my office desk the hint was backing that up. Asked a friend if my coords looked ok and got the tip need to complete. Great puzzle. I had driven past the cache 4 times today without knowing. TFTC
Got it! Pretty proud to be able to log this one without assistance. Had a quick look at it a while back but put it off until my puzzle cleanup on the weekend (solved about 20, with lots more to go).
I like these minimalist style puzzle caches! Quick find (not by me!) at QZ late at night

Great work, thanks. Most enjoyable. Solved and found wile in town for the MEGA. 3/9
In town for the NZ Mega 2012. Spent today on a caching run with Karma Reprint and Kiwi_moose. Got a wee nudge from JustmeG at the 11th hour a day before heading down from CHCH to this event. Soon spotted the likely; didn't have time so threw the dummy pass to KM who quickly deduced the first part of the co-ords - thought we were all done; but then KR came up with a stunning dive try when he located the 2nd half of the co-ords. A true team effort to solve. A quick find whilst in the area. Thanks for the effort involved in creating the puzzle and placing the hide. Most appreciated. Cheers.
Solved this one a wee bit ago.
Had had a bit of help in the first half, but still managed to do it mostly alone. And then the other part was the issue. I tried even to guess and check with google maps... nope...
So instead I just left it as is. Saved my working on my computer, and put it on the I can't do this pile.
Then, as my computer was turning on, I noticed my working, and I suddenly clicked. I knew how to do it!!! It had to be!! It was the only option!!! And I came up with a feasible location. So instantly called mum to tell her that I had it sussed!! And she told me to hurry up and get down here then!
So, on the next visit, quickly pulled over, and made the grab. Can't believe it! Back when I lived here, I used to bike past here every week at least once a week! And the cache was here then too...
TFTC!!

TFTC!!
A nice wee puzzler to have us scratching our heads on. However, the light dawned a while ago and it was solved. Glad the co-ords had us bang on today. Out on a MEGA caching run with Karma Reprint and Team Gators. TNLN Thanks
Took 3 of us to solve, and one to find and sign. A clever wee puzzle thanks.
A days caching at the 2012 Dunedin Mega, with the Lincoln lads, Kiwi Moose and Team Gaters Thanks for the hide.

This mysteriously named puzzle had me perplexed totally for quite a while before I got a word whispered in my ear. Clever.
I had solved this puzzle months ago and was going to do it 2 months ago when I was down here for work but wasn't able to do it. So it was on for this weekend and BaldEd assisted me. Loved the puzzle.
Cheers for the cache.

Was on my way South to the first Mega in New Zealand which was being held in Dunedin. Managed to work it out so that I was able to team up with fozzmiester and agcnz and go on an 8 day caching trip around the South Island, this was day 1 of the road trip.
After finding GC14VD5 - A colourful cache (Otago), it was time to go out and grab another puzzle cache that I solved before coming down to Dunedin, it is always good to try and pick up as many of the puzzle caches that are solved as you don't know how long before they disappear, and sometimes some of the puzzles take quite a bit of time to solve.
This was one of those puzzle caches that I knew that I wanted to find as it took a it to solve, as we were in the area it made perfect sense to pick it up tonight as we were going straight pass it. Arriving near GZ we managed to find a parking spot not too far away and it was a short easy walk to GZ., once there it only took a few seconds to find, sign and then replaced it back as found.
Glad to get another puzzle off my list of solved puzzles, thanks for placing this cache here and for bringing me to this spot, TFTC TNLNSL (4973)

This was another of the many stops that Roostaman and I made today on a great day of caching from Timaru to Dunedin...and we had thought our caching had come to an end for the day...until we met a trio of kiwis out for a night stroll. After meeting up with them at the previous cache, we walked with them to this one where the cache was quickly located. This was a very nicely put together puzzle.

Find # 4448 and a total of 113 today with Marcus Vitruvius on the 3rd day of our NZ Mega trip, on the way south from Timaru to Dunedin. Another excellent puzzle cache and hide and a nice late night walk with some locals to make the find. TFTC wallaceDuo,

Came here in the evening after arriving in Dunedin with fozzmiester and Yeetrees for the MEGA event. I had pre-solved the rather well-done puzzle some months ago and the cache was a quick find. Signed log, TFTC
Pipe was not a pipe, parking was an issue, wind was biting, climbed several fences that was not necessary and PurdiePurdie had her leg pulled for this one. Congratulations goes to JustMeG for solving and finding in the morning. Returned with the nine party of Mega night cachers and MacPacMum, who stayed with the car last time was able to make the find. #54 Mega Total for MacPacMum.
A quick find while out for a night time stroll to pick up a few caches in the area. Thanks for the nice puzzle and TFTC
Found as part of an 8 day NZ Mega Event trip. Day 1 - Christchurch to Dunedin in the company of Yeetrees and agcnz. Thanks to the owners of the 500 + caches which I had the pleasure to find along the way and which contributed to a very fun trip.

Excellent puzzle, cottoned onto theme quickly. Went up and down the garden path for this one. Cache was secured quickly for the group sign. Very good puzzle and very well implemented. Thanks for the lesson.

I love geeky puzzle caches like this! I solved it a couple of years ago, but finally found while out on a group night caching mission while at NZMega. TFTC
Was out as with a group doing some night caching. Made sure to find out how it was solved before I signed the log. Night caching with two car loads of caching driving all over Dunedin up and down hill, zig zagging all over town turned out to be a blast. At least when we arrived here the sky was clear so the log was safe. Thanks for the cache.

Found on a night caching adventure as part of the NZ Mega with 8 others. Now to solve the puzzle. TFTC.

529 This was my second Dunedin find and one of my two must-find caches. I was out with the GeoJuMP team of MacPacMum, Purdiepurdie and Justmeg and parking took some time to find. I had made an assumption from home which turned out to be wrong so the find took a wee while longer than we expected. It soon came to hand though and what a sastifying find this was. Thanks for the puzzle and the cunning placement.
Satisfying to claim this one. First for 2012. Well, it's something

I visited your cache as part of a week-long self indulgent Geocaching trip from Nelson to Bluff and back again. I apologise for not leaving a completely personalised log, but I do want to thank you for the time, money and effort you put into placing your caches. Without people like you who place caches, there would be nothing for the rest of us to come and find. You are fantastic

Mr B and I teamed up to solve this one and we made some quick early progress before drawing a blank. A small nudge from the CO got us back on track. Cool puzzle and an easy find this morning. TFTC
TFTC. This one was solved by our puzzle guru justmeg in preparation for attending the mega. It was on her must do list so we fitted it in prior to the Mega registrations later today.
Parking during work hours was a real trial, but eventually we managed and together we hunted for the cache. Rightly Justmeg located it first.

When this was first published I was as blank as the page. But with a little bit of guidance I made the discovery today (thank goodness)
Thanks

After putting this one off for months, I was finally forced to solve it when I hid a new cache, only to learn that it was too close to this one's GZ.
Spent awhile carefully reading the logs for ideas, and then began my very careful search. Soon saw something out of place, and from then on it was a relatively straightforward reveal. Glad I had the necessary tools to find it though.
Anyway TFTC! Was a great challenge

Well we managed to solve part of the puzzle and today checked out a hunch as to the cache location. Walked straight up to it and was very pleased to be able to sign this one. Blank pages are certainly very "challenging"!!! TFTC
Well good to get this off the list, we could not sort the last number out, but had a ideal.
