Out caching with Geo Jessie and Busy paws - agree with other logs - this one has gone, foliage has been recently cleared.
Had a good look but there has obviously been a clear up. think this has definitely gone. Thanks for bringing us here, - -a journey with geo Jessie and geomum.
The area around GZ has been well cleared of foliage and there is nothing at the hinted object. Suspect that this will need replacing.
Not if is still there - looks like a massive pruning and removal of trees recently
Nice hint thanks. The GPS was a bit patchy like you said. Haven't stopped at Cherry Farm for years!
Another one for today. Interesting history. Found with Southlandicebergs. Tftc
2 of my brothers used to live in the village. One prior to the current name he was shuffled between dunedin hospital and here before he died 1964. Back then tumors or meningictal problems were not known about much so cherry farm seemed to be the place for him. TFTC Found with firekitten.
Wow, fascinating place! We stopped at the cheese factory (yummy cheeses!) and the lovely girl gave us the history of this old mental asylum which closed years ago. People have since bought the individual buildings and live in them (including the morgue!) TFTC and bringing us to this spot BirdFlu
Has been some rough gardening, but it was still there. What a strange place. Tftc

Nice quick spotting as we walked towards. quick visit to the cheese factory while here as well. TFTC
Well last day down here in the deep south so that means a last trip to collect a few caches before heading back to book out of the motel.
Still its a few hours before it gets even remotely light so just a matter of working the plan to meet the requirements of the current GCLS stage that I am on and keep moving.
Tenth one of the new day and clear star lit skies to boot
Thanks for the placement

TFTC my grandma used to work here when it was still a hospital nice to drop by on way past.
We stopped here to update the phone database to match the GPS database. It meant we could find this cache and log it in GDAK. Picked up a trackable.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Quick trip to holiday home out caching with shcsjaffadoe. Often driven past knowing there was a cache "just in there" but never had the time to stop and collect. So finally made time and was a quick park and grab. TFTC
Spent the day geocaching on the drive from Christchurch to Dunedin. Resulted in 156 finds. Quick find. Signed log. TFTC!

Came down to Dunedin for the weekend for a competition on Saturday, and combined this with caching while I was at it
On the way back, decided to see how many roadside-ish SH1 caches I could find. May as well try clear this area out while I can, as if I go for trips South, I can then veer further of the state highway, as there are just oh so many to find!
WoW wow WOW!! I love places like this!!! Abandoned and freaky and things!! You could do a great multi here... hmm... now there's an idea...
It just totally looks like something from a 1950's American post-nuclear war type thing... something like the village in The Hills have Eyes... very scary... would not like to come here at night. And I can understand the people living in the substandard housing here, but what I don't understand is the people in their nice new houses here... it seems a strange place to choose to live...
Gets a fave point for showing me this place I never knew existed despite being down this road a million times already...

Find #1838. On a trip to Dunedin to take Luke to Otago Uni. Took a drive out of the city to explore the coastal scenic road and collect a few caches. SL TFTC
Stopped to by some cheese at the nearby factory and realised that there was a cache very close. Nipped over for an instant find. This site certainly has a bit of a sad history. Signed log, TFTC
Found this cache in a settlement quite untypical for NZ. House were ugly and in an untended condition. Not the spot one must have seen.
Nice little spot with a cheese factory nearby. Found on our way home today. TFTC
Have driven past this cache often and finally got around to stopping and finding it. dropped off TB

Drive by but people out with four legged friends so returned 20 minutes later for successful park, grab and log. TFTC!
Heading north after one night in Dunedin and on our way to Oamaru. Thanks for the quick find BirdFlu.
There is some interesting history to find out on a drive from Christchurch to Dunedin. TFTC
Found it together with Team Autoværn on our New Zealand tour back in 2013.

Today was my last full day on the South Island. I drove from Dunedin to Christchurch, taking a little detour to Aoraki Mount Cook. It was a great day on the coast and did rain in the mountains. Anyway it was a great day of geocaching and I enjoyed every cache I did find along the route. It is always a great excuse to get out of the car and into the wild! Thanks to all owner who made this day such an enjoyable day!
A quick find along the road.
Thanks for the cache!

This is another one we've driven past many times and said 'must find that one, one day' and today was that day. Found with Aoraki Sheep.
Had heard of Cherry Farm but never knew where it was - now I do thanks for the cache - done on our way north after the Mega
When we arrived on site we weren't sure what this place was but now just as we log it has all become apparent but not under this name!! A quick find after waiting for a muggle to slowely amble by us so we could commence our hunt. This is what we love about caching how it takes you to so many places some you have heard about others you haven't. TFTc
No mater what an institution is turned into afterward it still looks like an institution. I remember when it was Cherry Farm and remember thinking as a kid it didn't look that cheary place to live. Still today the place gave us a smilie. #118th Mega cache for MacPacMum
TFTC. Once we had located the cache we had a drive around the old Cherry Fsrm site for a look.
#4241. Heading North post-MEGA, and trying to out run the last of the showers. Search took longer than expected, but we got there in the end. TFTC.
After parting ways with the Earthbounds, we are having a slow and leisurely trip north with some sightseeing and of course some geocaching. Pulled up on the main road behind the school bus and waited for all the kiddy winks to board the bus and then ducked under the rail to get to GZ. Cache was soon in hand, logbook signed and cache returned. TFTC.
Mega well over and time for us to make our way towards our flight out of Christchurch. Great day to be leaving Dunedin as it is very cold and wet - even the locals are complaining.
Almost a ghost town here. TFTC SL

Had driven past here many times, but this is the first time we have stopped. The weather was still arctic-like so we were keen on a quick find, but it took a wee bit longer.
Thanks for bringing me here.

587 - This was a quick find on our way home from the Mega event. After signing the log Macpacmum, Purdiepurdie and I took a quick drive around the village before continuing on our way home. TFTC
Catching up on old logging. A quick find with Kiwi Nomad on our way back from the Mega. TFTC.
Caching our way around the South Island after attending the Mega Event.

Stopped nearby to get some cheese and grabbed this cache on the way. Thanks for the cache. Did with Mycro Man on our NZ MEGA 2012 South Island Trip
Today is my last day in Dunedin... I decided to grab a couple of caches this morning as I headed back toward Christchurch... Weather was wet (at times) and that helped keep the muggles at bay...
Thanks to all the CO’s & the Event organisers... I've had an absolute blast...
Grabbed this cache whilst travelling and taking in the fantastic views & interesting sights around the area... What an absolutely beautiful country to explore and photograph...
Thanks For the cache & for bringing me here

I was in the car with Mr & Mrs Kiwi Legend heading north after Mega when the discussion turned to the Virtual cache out at Seacliff. As I had already found it and it was a bit of a detour off SH1 it was decided to leave it. I shared what I remembered of the cache information. We then moved on to which cache would we find next and this one came up on the GPS. Without knowing anything about it except the name we pulled over and read the name of the street we had just pulled into.
Isn't it funny how life works out sometimes.
Thanks for the cache.
Interesting to see how some buildings are still being used and others look abandoned.
