Lovely spot didnt know about this historic site. Thanks for the cache with geo friends and geo dogs.
We introduced some local family members to geocaching this afternoon and searched for a few caches around the lake. This one was spotted quickly by our muggle niece. Thanks for bringing us to this interesting historical spot. All good with the cache. TFTC Bitsprayer.
A miserable day and a trip to Fairlie for the mid-winter fete led us to find a few in places we've only been to when there are lots of muggles around. A lovely tranquil spot with history. Tftc
We are taking our cat Coco on a motorhome and Geocaching holiday. She looks after our home while we go off in Suzy on GC adventures.
Todays adventure round Lake Opuha, surprised to find old School here.
Thanks for the cache Bitsprayer.

JDSCOUT and I are having a campervan holiday in Fairlie. Jude_E is staying nearby too. Jude's battery got flat so we had to take the car for a run. It was too windy to do our original plan. Thanks Bitsprayer for creating this hide. It was find 9788 for me.

What a great location! And how much tall wet grass! I should have worn gumboots... TFTC!!
A quick find today with injeanious and friends, a great spot for a cache. I left an inactivated track able for someone to pickup. Tftc!
Found with StreetWalkerNZ on an afternoon drive to Lake Opuha.
Worth a detour to see this piece of history. The pine trees surrounding the old school site threw shade on GZ, and boy it was cold here out of the sun. A quick find, the read the nearby plaque. TFTC.

Really cool history - had no idea there was a school there! Thanks for getting me out in my own backyard!
We are on our summer holiday driving around the South Island with no real idea of where we will end up each day. We are often drawn to an area that has the potential to give us a few geocaching smilies and somewhere we have not spent time exploring before. So we spotted this lake and decided that we would come and spend a bit of time looking around.
We enjoyed the stunning scenery as we biked from the dam to the boat launching ramp, there were several boats zooming around having a wonderful time on the lake.
Then we were back in the camper having a look at other areas of the lake.
I love finding little areas like this with some interesting history.
With the amount of new houses in the nearby subdivisions they might need to rebuild the wee school??
We were surprised by the roads around the nearby memorial, so I took a photo for us to look back on
Thank you for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley

The Jubliee memorial tree has survived well at this old school site.

Got wet feet here but it was worth it. Spotted the jubilee tree as well - the only thing remaining from when the area must have had enough families to keep a school open. Sad really. Thanks for showing us this site and for the cache.
Bit of a late log as I just realised I had some catching up to do.
We done an overnight camping trip in the Van to Fairlie just to do some caching and walking.
On our way to the Lake to camp the night.
TFTC.

Another of those locations that you wouldn't know anything about if it wasn't for Caching.

Nice spot I'd not have seen bar for caching. Someone should mow the plot, and put a picnic table there! TFTC TNLN SL
Nice quick cache, easy find. Stunning weather today, even a bit of snow still around.
Checking out the area for future mtbiking excursions so doing some caches as well - lovely area so will be back

A hot windy day here and it's only 10am! Despite the dry, the trees are doing well. TNLN Thanks
Co-ordinates took us right to the spot. I wonder if anyone would plant a tree for the king or queen these days? TNLN TFTC
Interesting place to visit. I wonder why they chose that type of tree to commemorate the King?

actually had dodgy coordinates which put me 500m off, but flucked it. Camped by the lake later.
Nice quiet spot in the country, interesting to think how many small community's have long since disappeared.

Found at 15:48 on a bit of a detour on my trip from Twizle to Methven. It was certainly an interesting little spot. TFTC. Took the TB and left a koala.
Found this cache with my personal travel bug Ice Age Scrat along our 3 moths trip around the whole New Zealand,

In Fairlie for the pipe band contest and we were exploring the countryside. Visiting from Canada so enjoying the gorgeous weather and scenery. TFTC
This was the second historic school location visited today. Had to wait for the grader driver to finish his lunch at the enterence before I could safely complete the cache. TFTC
Quick find, and had a little respite from the rain, but it was getting colder. Cheers Gav [2606]
