Its been a while since I had a mega day of geocaching, and I was due for my yearly attempt to set a new PB for caches found per day. I awoke at 5am this morning and headed out into the freezing cold on a cache grabbing extravaganza. I started the day focusing on some AL stages in and around North Canberra (freezing my fingers off), before going out to the Hughie Edwards VC Rest Area. I did the power trail along Majura Parkway getting all the way to IKEA! and then returned via a slog up Mt Majura. Highlights of the day were almost hitting a kangaroo 5mins after I left home, getting my shoes wet multiple times, climbing Mt Majura for the first time, and the delicious salted caramel biscuits I brought along. Looks like GZ has multiple purposes these days - someone seems to be using it as a clothesline!TFTC!
No luck for this one for us today. Tried this one while Mrs Snakepitters was having her haircut, brought her back as an extra pair of eyes but still nothing.
Had some daylight left after work and decided to finally visit this cache. I whizz past on Fairbairn Avenue frequently. Sadly, the cache had taken on some water and the logbook was ripe with black mould. I decided to go back to the car and get a replacement logbook and bag. I left the cache drained whilst I was away. It's probably good to hide it upright and make sure the lid clicks in ALL way around the rim. With walking back and forth I was now into sunset time, which, to be honest, was a bonus. Despite previously working out near this area I was not incredibly familiar with what was out here. As I pulled up one of the ladies attending the horses warned me that the gate was going to be locked, but that wouldn't really faze me on my motorbike. Apparently they have had problems with people getting locked inside before
The way I took to the cache was a bit overgrown, but given the track was really made for horses not people I'm guessing it's not that much of a problem. When I arrived at GZ I spotted another way in but I'm not sold that it would have been easier
Signed the log, cache was upside down and not completely sealed so it was a little bit damp inside. Spent a little bit of time drying out the bag and logbook. TFTC.

Hopped onto my bike and ORIGINALLY was just going to go caching in the ANU, doing a bit of a spring clean up (or a Christmas clean up as it is almost Christmas). Well after saying 'Just one more' several times I somehow found myself at Manuka Oval, how did that happen? I swear I was at the ANU like a few minutes ago. Hmmmmm... Oh well, at least I got quite a few! Like way more than I had intended . Arrived back home 6 hours later with legs that felt like jelly
TOTAL HAUL FOR TODAY: 22 CACHES SPREAD OVER 5 TYPES (yay a PB!)
THIS CACHE:
This area was VERY boggy after the recent rains. I recommend bringing gumboots! So trudged through the mud which also smelt like crap. However, soon got to GZ and quickly found the cache. Yay! Now I have to get back to the road. TFTC Fore!

On the way home after caching around Ainslie, and already wet, I walked the 400m through a completely wet trail (ankle deep water the entire way!) to make an easy find at GZ. Cache is in pleasingly good condition for such an old hide, and the log is nice and dry.
Thanks, Fore! I'm amazed how much water sits around these flatter parts of Canberra after even only a moderate amount of rain.

After about six weeks of completing only Adventures and Earthcaches, I decided to return to finding physical caches and arming myself with hand sanitiser. I've gotten really into cycling during lockdown, and decided that I would finally start on the Majura Cycleway series. Between finishing work and the sun setting I came down to this spot to scope out parking for the series, and find my first physical in a long time. The walk in was lovely, such a hidden away little spot. I found the cache with ease, and enjoyed putting my name on a log for once. Thanks for the cache Fore!
Sun is out and wanted to hit the planet loop. Saw this one on the way in and wanted to tick it off at the same time. TFTC
Starting early this morning with a CITO at 7am. Then some caching around the northern part of Canberra.

Bringing Pebbles into town for her weekly lessons it was time to cache a bit around the western end of town plus do some maintenance on a couple of caches.
A nice short wonder to this cache from the carpark in the slowly fading light. But managed to forget a pen.
Quick find, at GZ, all in good order here.
Thank you Fore! for putting the cache out and maintaining it!

TFTC Had planned this day, with mountainsbeyond, for cleaning up around Majura, including the cycleway caches.
Grateful thanks to CO for placing and maintaining the caches to entertain me on my journey.

Cache 6935 on 20 Dec 2020.
I was in two minds about today- whether I should try and get another day with 11 cache types or just pick up a few caches for my daily challenge. At the very last minute I decided to stop stressing and just get a few nice caches in the inner north before the event I was hosting at lunchtime. A much better idea and much more relaxing!
It was definitely time to find this older cache - I have been slowly picking off the CO’s caches . Today was a perfect day to make the short walk to GZ. Quite a few horse people around as you would expect on a Sunday morning. And the cicadas were out in FORcE! Luckily some horse people had just left the area or I would have had trouble making the grab on this one!
Thanks Fore! for the cache and the fun!

Rode over on the CT from Forde, getting off the CT at Majura Pkwy & going along the E side of Majura and Ainslie. On the E side of Ainslie I decided to grab this cache. I rode onto the path through the sports fields & had a magpie fly over & check me out. By riding with a rubber neck & looking backwards, the magpie flew over and then bailed out of a few dives. Ha ha!
Found the equestrian trail entrance & as I got 75m from GZ, another magpie tried swooping. It didn't like being watched either, so didn't get close on any attacks. Walked over to GZ, found the goods, then headed into the open. The magpie tried swooping again, but with me eying it off, it didn't try again.
Returning the same way, the 1st maggie came back for more. In the carpark it started a long dive, so I turned & rode at it, whereupon it bailed out to another tree. Suffer in ya jocks! Headed home via the W side of Majura & Ainslie, with only other 1 lame magpie "swoop" attempt.

This one has stood out for a while, but I grabbed it after taking my geodaughter to Majure for an interview at the Toy shop. Great condition for such an old cache
We looked and looked using the hint but then was found on the ground. Then we read previous logs. Have returned to appropriate tree as per hint. All good with cache. Thanks for the cache Fore
Out caching today with Joolay and barb2e. Beaut spot for a walk. Found on ground but placed back as per hint
Condition Report:. Good and dry

My VERY LAST Fore! cache in ACT
How sad! I have always loved Fore! caches, and it has actually been a very long time since I found one, most were found in my early days!
This has been sitting out on my map for a long time though, and decided it was finally time to come and find it!
A really lovely walk, luckily the nice lady at the horse paddock warned me to move my car before I got too far, as she said it will get locked behind her when she's finsihed! Oops! Didn't even realise it was a gate that got locked, but it makes sense so people don't steal horses I suppose! So quickly moved my car and then was off once again.
Took a while to find the cache until I read the past logs and realised it was on the ground rather than hanging like the hint suggests. Eventually spotted it, it also seemed to be on the other side of the tree clump to where my GPS was suggesting!
But apart from that the cache is still in great condition, as was the log!
So signed away and was off...
Thanks Fore ! and allrounder

Aquilus1 and I had just almost been locked in at a cache across the road. Then we came here and actually got locked in! I recommend not parking all the way under the trees. Park outside the gate just to make sure. Luckily as we were about to call someone from the sign a lovely, although not happy lady let us out.
It was however a nice walk from the car park. Hot but the wind helped to cool us down. Cache was in good condition. Tftc Fore!!!

There were a few events later this afternoon so with dty73 we headed out a little earlier for a bit of cache maintenance along the way. Logs all replaced and with a bit of extra time we made time for a few caches. Although not that long a walk it was still long enough for a hot day but we have been wanting to get this one for ages, might as well get it now.
In we drove and parked in the shade by another car, their were a few people about with their horses and some in the car by the one we parked, with this heat and lack of rain I bet they spend a lot of time out here feeding.
We headed off down towards the cache, indeed it is dry but at least there is a bit of brown of what was grass, hopefully we can get some good rain so it can grow again. Not sure if the cache is where it should be based on the hint, its currently about 1.6m below that in some camo. Cache found and back to the car, and the empty car park, and the locked gate!
What! that wasn't shut or locked before. Luckily it was afternoon and after a short wait a car came and unlocked the gate, they weren't very friendly about it but we were cheery enough to be out and able to drive away to make up for their grumpiness. Thanks for the cache Fore! Enough of locked gates and heat we decided to spend the rest of the spare time in some aircon with a cold drink before heading of to attend the CITO and an enjoyable evening later at a well attended dinner event.

I read previous logs about finding this cache on the ground. But I thought people would have put it back in the original place. After wasting 30 minutes I started look on the ground. Found it right away. I have placed it on the ground at the bot. Thanks Fore!
I was passing by and stopped to make the short walk on another beaut morning in Canberra. Thanks Fore!
Kick out of house... Look beautiful full sunny.... I feel so good walk all the way ... easy found.. thanks
Found few moments ago. Lovely day. Finally the weather is great
I found the cache on the ground. Not sure where it was I masked it well on the ground. Hint is not valid right now. CO notified.

There is just time in the day to grab a quick walk so I dragged Genghicat to this cache. Lovely to see the horses enjoying a good feed. Makes me miss the farm.
Cache is in good condition. We didn't have a pen so took photo.

After a busy day running errands, Touchstone7 dragged me out to find a cache. She'd thought I'd grabbed this one previously, but it was definitely one I hadn't found before.
Afterwards, had a nice chat with some horse owners who were tending to their precious babies. Amazing just how little feed there is around at the moment.
Thanks for the cache Fore.

We were in the area so thought we could grab this cache. After reading the scary Danger sign to enter the area we determined it was a safe time of day to enter.
After a quick search we soon located the cache. Tipped a little water out of the bottom of the cache, signed the log and headed off as some muggles approached from afar.

Found it fairly easily, hint helped! There was a bit of water inside which we tipped out. Muggles approached the area strangely! TFTC
I've been eyeing this off as a good one to take the houndy for a short walk to sometime and today was that day. Horses and roos abounded but no sheep or cattle today. We were hoping to join up to the cycleway somewhere but hit a dead end and that was far enough for the geohound today. Thanks Fore!
F(H)ound It! #2344 - @ 9:45 AM
I pulled up at the horse yards and was warned that I might get locked in. So after moving the geo-323 to outside the gate I had a nice chat with a horse owner who the Ridgeo-pup took a real shine to. She can be a bit aloof but she really liked this lady - and didn't mind the horse much either. Then we were off for a short stroll to GZ for a easy find and a nice view.

I was nearby and decided to try for this one. I found a place to park, located the trail and walked to GZ. Lots of kangaroos hoped away from GZ as I approached. Saw some galahs and red-rumped parrots. Once at GZ I spotted the decoy first - some kind of shin guards hanging in a tree? - before I spotted the hide. The container had water in it but thankfully the log was dry in its bag. I emptied the container before replacing the log. Then back to the car where I was startled by a low-flying Hercules. TFTC.
While trekking to GZ, I decided to take a look at the hint for this cache. Oh dear! Since I’m shorter than the approximate height, what do I do as (due to an earlier find) I’m not wanting to climb anything today. Still kept walking to FZ. Oh look! A useful item to help me reach the cache! Excellent! Well, it turns out the item wasn’t required as the cache was spotted at the same height as my face.
Sounds like this one hasn't been closed properly...taking offline until my geocaching secretary can sort it out...
Not only was the log saturated but there was an inch of water in the cache! I emptied the cache, drying it and whatever contents could be saved. There was a crack in the outer edge of the lid which is now taped up.
Finally, there’s a new log in a ziplock bag so the cache is good to go...

Thanks to my trusty geocaching secretary this one is ready for the next finder - please ensure the lid “clicks” shut...cache on!
I sought out this geocache before the Monday evening Omnia walk from Campbell Park Offices. I found six geocaches and all were all straightforward finds. This one was right on the coordinates. Thank you Fore! for installing and maintaining this cache.
Fore! the cache logbook is saturated and will need to be replaced.

Nice short walk from where I parked the car. There's a stray bike at GZ - I'm sure there's an interesting story there!! TFTC Fore!
An outlier like this needs a few spare minutes to make a detour. Fortunately I had them this afternoon. A pleasant walk, but no horses or cattle. Just a couple of hundred kangaroos! A great spot and a lovely diversion on my way to the servo. TFTC, Fore!
Being a pleasant Sunday morning with a little free time and a desire to find a cache I made my way over here with my son.
We had a short but pleasant stroll down along the equestrian trail to the gz. Possibly more roos to be seen than horses but it is the Australian bush so no surprise there.
Cache found to be a tad damp, but we had time and my sons shirt was enlisted to dry the cache (it was filthy already and it was only 10 am)
As noted by a previous finder the log is almost full. 2 pages left of the log book. At the current rate probably 2 years worth. So no problems in my mind.
One extra point that had me thinking, I grew up near the Lyons horse allotments in the early 80's, I spent a lot of time bike riding, walking and cubby house making etc and I never encountered much feedback from the horse owners. Today (insert rant(feel free to ignore))
"" I was talked at twice by by precious horse owners, once to inform me I should not park behind the possibly locked gate and second to inform me that her horse could not see me in the trees and we needed to move out into the open. Apparently the Horse could not distinguish the trees from the evil biped equine murdering monsters. The horse owners and my self where polite in these interaction, but please.... this is public land. not their personal horse studs, "" end rant.....
Thanks for a pleasant stroll in a lovely location. BTW also think the cache box is cool.

Awesome, last one right on dusk, ANZAC Day. That makes 40 in the last two days of the school holidays.
A short walk after work and voila! A cache! No Fore!locks, or indeed any other parts of a horse to be seen at gz today, but there were kangaroos in abundance. Thanks, Fore!
I have lived near this area for a while and never even knew there was a nice trail along here. Good spot for it.
Ariesz walked right past this one and needed to suspend her belief that it was mine to claim. TFCT Fore!
Nice walk out to cache. A couple of horsey people doing their stuff. TFTC Fore!. Dropped off TB.
My first run for the winter to try and get some fitness back. Great little area if you had a horse. Great morning for a run.
Bit of a muddy slog to get to this one from the planet series...Nice area and TFTC:-)
How this has taken me more than five years to get to I'll never know- but it has been sitting out there a while now. After walking around Mt Ainslie I went through this one and then over to the Majura shops (probably weren't there when this cache was placed!). After a few fences, the new Majura Parkway and some road I made it to my destination. TFTC!
TuarusSix and I needed one more cache so we came past this one on the way home. Found the cache on the ground with a damaged carabina. I put it back as best I could.
The 13th find on the 18th day of the 31 days of geocaching Third time lucky for me here today. After coming away with two CNS's (could not starts) due to heavy muggle activity, I decided to drop by this one just after dusk on my way home from a geomission around the mountain. Twas a lovely moonlit night when I parked the car. Then on went the torch and off I went walking along the horse trail. Arrived at GZ and after a quick search made the muggle free, neat little find. I love these containers! Took TB. Thanks Fore! another one!

A pleasant short walk to claim the daily cache for the August challenge. We were watched by lots of kangaroos in the next paddock. I dropped off the TB 'Army Guy 2'. TFTC.
Interesting equine area but at present overpopulated with hundreds of kangaroos. Scene would definitely impress overseas visitors wanting to get a look at our macropods.
At the moment more like 1.8 meters above ground.
Thanks for the cache Fore.

#663 - 16:20; Missed this one while touring the solar system last week, so popped in for another walk in the general area today to clear this cache. Clearly kangaroos can't read as the fenced off and sign posted area near GZ was alive with them! Managed to skirt around the perimeter and locate GZ. I must have shrunk if the 1.6m referred to in the hint is accurate, or perhaps the 6 is upside down on purpose. TFTC Fore!
tftc! quite aways from the other caches so I'll come back for the majority of them.
15th of 15 easy caches today on a nice bike ride around a piece of bush that we hadn't been to before. TFTC
Nice walk after work today. Loved the sound of the small finches in the trees. TFTC
A lovely place to cache on a quiet Anzac Day. Just a couple of horses with their owners out trotting around. They were focused on the exercise so I slipped by unnoticed. Found the cache while the local 4 legged muggles watched from a distance. Almost couldn't get this one until I stood on my furthest ends of my tippy toes. Got it and replaced it in the same stretchy way. They don't call me Elastigirl for nothing! Thanks for bringing me out here Fore! and TFTC!
Great spot : somewhere we often see, but never from this angle. Over lunch we made friends with a horse! Too funny, but our pen had dropped out somewhere on our big bike over... what to do with the log? No pens in the cache, none in the bike, backpacks, or under the trees... no burnt logs to use as charcoal... we considered making "ink" out of dirt or horsey poo, but in the end creativity prevailed and we snipped up a blue bandaid from the first aid kit into letter shapes of QGO and the date, and stuck these into the log. Thanks Fore!
Used to come up here with a couple of bEers on my friend's big horse - big enough for the two of us for a meandering amble at sunset!
Log seems a little damp which seems strange given the dry weather of late, might just be the condensation in the cache.

#754: Didn't realise how close this cache was to my office until this morning. So I headed over for a nice walk during my lunch break and made the find.
A great cache. By chance, little d' met a lovely lady who let him feed her 3yr old horse Maisy some carrots. A wonderful afternoon out. Thanks!
1st find for the day after watching the Gungahlin Jets beat ADFA in the ACTWAFL 64-7. Didn't remove anything but placed a pathtag in.

A quick find on a lovely sunny winter's day. No muggles about today. TN, left a lego magnet. TFTC!
We set out a bit later than we wanted on this after enjoying a bit of saturday shopping in Civic. The skies were threatening and our destination was Tankengines Machine so it was only logical to pick this one up on the way through. Jackets on and touches ready we set off on the trail. We reached GZ just as the icy rain started and we knew we were in for a bit of fun for the next half of our journey. Miss Stormcatcher made the find as the light began to fade...Thanks Fore! for a nice cache.
