Perth/Darwin TripWe slogged it up another hill in the heat and scrambled up the short cliff. Worth it for the views and to claim this older cache. Joolay and I are travelling to WA and NT to qualify for a challenge that requires you to find a cache in every Australian state in a calendar year. Thanks for hiding and maintaining this cache TeamGeoPlesk

Well that was certainly hard and hot enough even at 8am. Instructions/coords were good. This was on our route back to Darwin via Berry Springs. Managed the cliff climb thanks to the WP.Perth visit over and now for NT chasing all States and Territories in a year with Kittykatch. Looking forward to the adventure. Thanks for getting me out and about TeamGeoPlesk

Hard enough. The climb and return took 35 minutes. The cache find was easy. Not a cache that will be forgotten.Freddo and e.gregory1 were heading up the middle of Australia following Stuart's well trodden route. We were travelling in air conditoned comfort and style. No stale food. No camels to carry water. We were leaving the cold winter for the northern season.Today was the day to find this cache. Today is the tenth day of Augustus Caesar's Month in the wonderful year of twenty twenty four. We found your cache container and added some inky stuff to the paper sheet or note pad you have supplied for a log book or scroll. The cache container and log book or scroll were in good condition. It was so hot. No wind today. With the log signed and the cache replaced it was time to leave. Onwards to the next cache. Woot, that is not to far.I would like to show my respect and acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Land, and their continuing connection to it. I wish to pay my respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past, present and emerging.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. We do apologise for the generic logs. Thanks to all the cache owner for placing this cache here for our enjoyment. Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke fr den Cache. Gracias por el cach. I found this cache on a trip from Adelaide to the top end with Freddo for a few weeks.Hard enough? Maybe. The hill certainly looked daunting from the road but took less time than expected. The cache was found in good condition. Thanks TeamGeoPlesk for the cache.

A great climb and a great place for a cache. Thanks for that. A rewarding magnificent view from the top which would never have been seen were it not for the cache.

Found this cache after a challenging ascent atop Mt McLachlan near Pine Creek, NT. Decided to take on the challenge of a very terrain difficult cache in the area. The hide was relatively easy to spot, but the real challenge came from navigating the rugged terrain, especially during the descent. Definitely had to watch my step! Thanks to the waypoints provided, parking and the ascent were manageable. The view from the top was absolutely worth the effort. Managed to locate the cache within the expected timeframe, though fitness levels definitely played a role. The cache itself, a 30 cal ammo box, contained the usual swaps and trackable items. Noticed that Smokey's up there too, sorry Groboz! Overall, a satisfying and challenging find. Thanks for the adventure!

A hot day for a climb but had just enough water

14-Jul-22
On my way to Perth via Darwin with a few detours for LGAs. TFTC.
That was a great climb. A bit of a worry once at the cliff but quite doable.
I found a much easier way down at the waypoint.

Interesting climb.
It wasn’t until I was near the summit when my phone picked up reception and I was able to see there was a better way to make the ascent.
Oh well. My name is now in the log.
Visited 3 TB.

After a super easy cache for starters, I needed a bit more of a challenge.
Huffed and puffed my way to the top for a magnificent view..

Travelling around the world I visited Australia as well. This cache could be found after a strenous ascent. The cache could also be named 'High enough?', regarding the high grass.

11-Jan-18
The sensible thing would have been to do this early in the day in the dry season wearing boots and long pants. But being a Territorian did it at midday, in the wet season, in the long grass, wearing a skirt and thongs. Terrain is challenging but fine if you are used to a bit of bush bashing. TFTC

11-Jan-18
nutty enough to do this with geo wife in wet season with long grass in full swing thongs and shorts. nice view. TFTC

Team Omam from the Netherlands has only one aunt left. And as she will have her 100th birthday early February, we decided to join the birthday party. But …., she lives in Sydney Australia! An excellent opportunity for us to explore this continent once again and find Geocaches along the way. We will do a 3.5 weeks trip! At places where we will stay for a few days (Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and Darwin), we will organize Meet and Greet events. We will try to find mainly caches with high favorite points, caches from 2000 and 2001, earth caches, webcam caches, virtuals and letter box hybrids.

First ***** cache in Australia. Easy to access through given coords
Thank you very much for the cache. Cheers

I have been looking at doing this one for a while. We got the chance today. Staying overnight at pine creek we headed up here in the afternoon. Great to have a path to navigate to and a tried and tested path to climb the cliff. Great views up top. TFTC.

17-Aug-15
Today we explored Pine Creek and surrounds using geocaching as a guide. This was a quick jaunt up the steep hill, through the gap and onto the top to the cache. It was great to have a waypoint to aim for to get the best access to the top as it could have been very difficult and maybe dangerous. Well done in the thought gone into placing this cache.Top views from the cache, watch the drop off.

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

15-Nov-14
We have been wanting to get this one for a long time but have always been in a hurry to get to Darwin. A special trip today and well worth it, great view. The satisfaction level of finding a cache is always the same as the effort. A favourite from us. TFTC.

One month that I've been working in Pine Creek, it's about time I checked the geocaches.
I think it's my first 5* and I found the climb up easier than going down Smile TFTC

The sun was just above the horizon when I got to the cache (am). A very pleasant time of the day. Come on cachers, 9 months is a long time between visits for such a great cache. Another favourite. Thanks TeamGeoPlesk.

06-Sep-13
Travelling south towards Pine Creek on our second trip around Australia.
We decided to do this from the back road, it was longer and more accessible.
With a steep walk up the hill and a climb over rocks, the cache was found nestled at GZ.
Thanks for the challenge today, TeamGeoPlesk.

We needed a moment to decide if to go all the way up or not, especially in this heat. But it was defenitely worth it!

Hubby did this one while I slaved at work, not sure who got the raw deal. LOL. He had not realised that the start of the climb was on the GPS as a waypoint so he made his own decision about where to climb. He phoned me from the top with the comment "No wonder you did not want to do it". SL TFTC

Loved this cache hunt, was amazed when we realised it was a climb to the very top but well worth the effort. The views were excellent and just to see what it is like at the top was great. The walk down was not as easy as coming up but it was well worth it. Thanks for bringing us here. TNLN.

20 mins up and back.
Fortunatly the root I took onto the platue was only 3 or 4m from GZ, which lead to a quick find.
Quick dign of the log and back down.

Big Grin Waypoints for parking & climb were helpful. And yes, the climb was hard enough for us, but enjoyable just the same. Took Emu Geocache. TFTF

Going up was easy but coming down was the difficult part! We parked on the side of the hwy and found our own way up the hill. The cache was discovered quickly and is still in good condition. Dropped off GeoCoin. Thanks heaps...

Fairly easy walk up the hill, a short scramble up, and then along the ledge. Great view up here - well worth the trip from the road! Good to stop and doing some of the slightly harder caches whilst we're here! Smile Cheers Gav [8879]

A quick wee tramp (nothing like a NZ 1000M climb T5) and the cache was in our hands.
Nice view.

This was the main purpose of a caching run between Pine Creek and Katherine today and I'm happy to say I completed it.

The hardest part was definitely the walk from the carpark to the first waypoint with long grass and loose rocks making each step a potential ankle breaker. After reading the other logs about alternative ascent points I found one around 30-40m from the waypoint that was easy enough although the dead leaves made for a slippery surface in places. Once on the top I found the GZ easily enough and spent a good 15mins trying to work out how to reach over the cliff for the cache where the GPS told me 1m but unable to find a safe spot and considering I was doing this by myself I gave up and was ready to call it quits when I noticed the cache laughing at me from 15m along the cliff edge. Turns out my GPS was off today. Signed log before sitting down for a few minutes to have a well earned drink before making the journey down the hill. Again the area between the waypoint and the car was definitely the hardest part.

Thanks for the cache and my first 5star achievement.

Nice view but too easy

This was number 2 for the day and even though I got out there early I still earned a big sweat on the climb. As I made it to the base of the cliff below GZ I spied a gap in the rocks about 40m south of GZ which turned out to be as good set of stairs up to the top. The cache was in hand and a few photos snapped in short order. A spectacular location thanks for giving me a reason to check it out TeamGeoPlesk. [761]

We decided to leave this one to do early in the morning. Though it was about 8am it was already getting hot. Bruce used the coords provided to do his ascent though near the top he saw a way that suited him better. He had the cache in no time and was glad to get back to the aircon in the car and a cold drink. Good view. Took the trackable. Thanks TeamGeoPlesk

We really wanted to do this one, must have missed a turn off? couldn't find a spot to park, We had the parking spot waypoint in the GPS but couldn't get to it. Never mind

Hey... my first level 5 terrain. Thanks for the challenge and a challenge it was. The additional way points really helped. The view from the top was fantastic but what goes up must come down and I found the return to the base more difficult than the assent. TFTC!

Found by mr NTBBBB & youngest geodaughter during a three day caching trip with the entire NTBBBB tribe. Dropped of my BBBB TB before grabbing it back again. Only the oldest Geodaughter decided not to make the climb, the rest of us were up and down in 30 minutes. Nice spot and a great view.

People are not supposed to put caches in places like this. Surprisingly Mrs Beagle with very little prompting opted to stay in the car and wait. As I neared the top I thought no they wouldn't put it up on top there are lots of good places down here. But no after a finding a crack in the Kombalgie Sandstone got to top. Imagine my despair when I found no pen in the cache, and no I hadn't carried one with me, choosing to drop all unnecessary weight for the climb. Strangely I decided not to go back to the car for a pencil, I know slack, but there you go, next person should bring a pencil with them. Did take the Geocoin as proof and have a very distant photo from car on road. Mrs Beagle was good for something after all.

Drove past this today and would have loved to stop cos the climb looked really fun. Kids asleep in the car though so we could not stop.
I hope to get back to it later in the year.

Pfffffttttt, I thought this one was meant to be difficult!?!? **gasps for breath LOL

Quite a challenging climb to the summit, but once we were at GZ, the breathtaking view was worth it Smile

Found on a days caching with NTSTROM. Hard Enough is right but what a veiw from the top. We could see the cache site from the road but only after climbing up to find it. Spied Smoky the Bear but thought he should stay and keep a watch on the cache until Groboz can get out to se him. Thanks TGP the the great veiw and the hunt.

HARD ENOUGH? I have one word for that little question - YES!
Seriously it wasnt as hard as I expected, which is always a good thing. I suggest next finders follow the waypoints as posted by TGP as this made the ascent a lot easier. This was found in the company of Gibbo on a trip down to Pine Creek way. Fantastic view from GZ. Thanks TGP for the challenging cache, especially for those of us with bad knees and bad back. I was certainly glad to get this one off my to do list.

Always up for a challenge this one looked very worthwhile so we allowed plenty of time and made for the mountain top.
A most satisfying FTF considering it had been out there for over a week, although the cliff climb was interesting the steep decent over loose rocks was the most challenging aspect of this little adventure.
Took the yoyo and sudoku card and left hard hat stress ball and book mark.
Thanks TGP for the challenge, the view as always is worth the climb.
