Logs
Log book saturated & contents damp but otherwise intact & concealed. Sorry didn’t come prepared with anything to use as new log.
Spent quite a bit of time to find this one, but the gras is really tall and so we obviously couldn't find the right rocks. Maybe some time somebody will find it or even better the CO goes and check it out.
Today we tackled Old Baldy cache first, took about an hour, then headed to Hiabludynuf. Not knowing the area we did not realise that there is a well made track from one mountain to the other. It was an excellent walk through the rainforest and then up the hill 500 metres to the top of the mountain. An easy find as the long grass had been burnt off, log book was a bit damp. An excellent round trip and back to the car.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

X-Franzi and I had a really nice hike! But on the way to TOP OF OLD BALDY we had to remove three leeches from my foot. Gladly we had some salt with us!
After leaving Cairns early to complete the "Widowmaker" circuit we parked the car and grabbed Walter's "Atherton Vista" cache, continued up to the hill to "Top of Old Baldy".
Enjoyed the views from there and then continued the trail down through the small patch of rainforest to arrive at our destination, took way too long to find this one in the long grass. Thought I was going to leave with a DNF after approaching GZ from the wrong direction I guess.
Sat and enjoyed a cup of tea, enjoyed the views before returning to GZ for another look and the GPS took me directly to the cache from this direction, don't know how I didn't see it earlier but happy to walk away with a smiley.
Happy to report cache and log both in good condition, thanks Dan for another great location, all up a two and a half hour walk, a favourite point from me and

Braved the cool weather and headed to the tablelands to log a few caches. Continued further up the hill after finding Walter's mystery cache. The walk was a bit of challenge with a hip injury but slow and steady was the key. The cache was a tricky to find at first but was finally spotted after a short rethink. TFTC sl
We walked to this cache from Mount Baldy enjoying a nice short stint in the cool rainforest before the slog up the hill.
Amazing views from the top in the bright sunshine.
We signed the log and dropped in one of our pathtags.
Many thanks for the hide Danielc [^]

That was a tuff walk but worth the effort! Beautiful view, hard to find the cache! TFTC
Holy dooly! I thought I was going to die. What a hike! The waypoints were spot on and very helpful and saved me walking in the wrong direction on at least 2 occasions. This was a well earned hike that I won't be forgetting for a while. Views were amazing. Mmmm, finding the cache was definitely a challenge for my wobbly legs once at the top but after a bit of a scamble, hop and jump over some rocks and getting spear grassed in the butt (not to mention a few naughty words) I soon had the prize in hand. Thankfully no snakes or leeches for me today. Replaced plastic bag for ya Dan as I read your log before I left and everything is in tip top condition. Thanks a bunch for the fitness certificate, it is displayed quite proudly at home as a reminder of the pain I was in, heh, heh, heh...no seriously, I don't think I moved for the next 3 days. Now I understand why it's called the Widows Maker. The dog containers I came across on the way were brilliant for my little pooch and a great excuse for yet another rest (which is why it probably took me 3hrs return). I also spied some wild raspberry bushes growing alongside the track which I raided and it definitely made for a nice surprise. Many cheers to you Dan for placing a cache here. A huge big TFTC .

Hi all,
As this one hasn't been found in a while and fires have passed through the area, I decided to go up and check it out. It has been a while since I've been there and changes have been made - all to the good. There is a new switch-back track for the last few hundred metres that have made it much easier. The whole track has been cleaned up and signed. There is a seat at the top, and a visitors' book.
What wasn't to the good was that the improvements threw me out and I couldn't find my own bloody cache. It was most embarrassing. I had met a couple of lovely people to whom I divulged the secrets of geocaching and had them helping to search. Eventually they went off. I sat and pondered, and eventually saw my error. I went back in and eventually found the cache. It is in good condition, but needs a new plastic bag, so if the next searching would take in a plastic shopping bag to replace the old one I would appreciate it muchly.
To the folk I met. If you do look up caching and read this - Greetings! I hope you become cachers, and I hope to meet you again somewhere along the cache track.
Cheers,
Dan

I decided to go for this one early on Friday morning. There was low cloud sitting on top (no view!) and water trickling down the track - not unusual for the Widowmaker in my experience - but at least it was fairly cool.
Reached the rock outcrop on top and had a much-needed breather. Was led astray briefly by a likely looking track, then backtracked and tried a slightly different direction. My GPS told me I was still 5m away, but I trusted my newly-developing 'geo-eyes' and found the cache no trouble. The cache is dry inside - the plastic bag cover was pretty decrepit though, so I added another one I had with me.
Left a purple monster dude, took panda clip, certificate of fitness and a big fat leech. TFTC.

Wow. What a climb! Absolutely worth it for the view on a beautiful, clear day. Cache and contents are in great condition. TFTC and the certificate of fitness.
Made an effort for the last day of 2010. A cool wet season morning, appreciated once we started the climb (though it wasn't as bad for these out-of-practice geocachers as we thought it would be). Found the cache without too much trouble - the grass does a good job of hiding landmarks!! Pleased to say the cache was nice & dry, but the plastic bags protecting it are becoming a bit frail. Enjoyed a light munch before heading down, Can't say we had a picnic at 'hanging rock' - the leeches were there first. TNLN TFTC Danielc. Bush Bashers
This cache is quite a challenge. I certainly didn't get there in half an hour!! Lovely view on a fine day, I took a duck key-ring an left a man in extremis like me at the time. Thanks but I won't be trying any more of your vertically challenging caches.
Boy do I feel that I have a story to tell about this one. First Thankyou Dan for another fantastic experience. I will start with a small story about hubby, as we are heading off again on another of our jouneys in a few days, hubby was spraying the weeds and went a over t and thought that he had broken his hip and or shoulder. After a little r and r he decided that he was OK just sore. As we needed to go to Atherton I put the question forward about doing a cache - Hiabludynuf. OK he agrees so off we go. The walk in was going well until we startled a bird watcher, I sure that he thought us strange for heading up to the top. Yes the last part is a killer but we took it slow and hubby made it to the top. On the way down I was in the lead and mentioned to watch the rock in the middle of the path - did not want him to fall and maybe not be alright. Walking on I could not hear any noise behind me so turned to see if he was alright, I find him standing still on the path leading on his hiking stick looking down, I asked if he was OK and the answer was Yes I am watching the rock. Perhaps there was not enough air at this altitude for him. We returned to the car to find that I had bought a leech with me from the mountain, that is OK, after dinner I discover that I have blood running down my leg must be another hitchhiker but we searched the house high and low but it was not to be found. Now I have leech paranioa. T Fitness Certificate L Nil There is a couple of non caching signatures in the log book
The cache name was enough to get us keen for this one. Took 30 mins to top in nice cool (raining) atherton weather. To our surprise was other walkers at the top. Once they left cache was easily found. View is spectacular. Went back down the other way to complete a good circuit. Thanks as always Dan. Took fitness certificate. Left Gucci leather duck keyring.
Hi all,
Went up and checked this one today as many of mine have been reported wet.
It was dry.
If you try this one just now and listen carefully on the way up, you'll probably hear thousands of tiny little cheers. If you do, go for your life, it'll be the leeches.
Cheers,
Dan

A good training for the legs, even more climb than "Far-A-Bloody-Nuf", which is just done. But even better: The view to Atherton is at its best from the top.
I liked the challenge very much and am looking forward to doing more caches of this type. Thank you very much Danielc!

Enjoyed the various mushrooms and fungi I encountered on my strenuous climb up here. They gave me an extra momentum to walk.

YES, YES, YES. We have survived this little heart starter and we have the FTF trophy and a certificate of fitness to prove it. The information was spot on and it was a relatively straightforward walk through the forest and up gentle slopes until the last half kilometer and especially the last 300 metres. This took 5 stops to get to the top. The view was excellent and unhindered and it was a beautiful clear day. We collected a couple of hitchhikers in our boots even though it was dry and cool. Thanks Danielc for the challenges attached to finding your caches. We have done several of your caches and enjoyed everyone. Gee, you really must like climbs. Managed the round trip in just under 2 hours.
