Due to new construction work in the area, this cache is going offline for good. Thanks everyone for the interesting logs and experiences about finding my first hide.

It was hard locating the brass plaque, but we eventually found it. In the end it has been the best cache we have found so far.

The GPS was all over the shop at lunch time today. Tried and tried to find brass plaque but only one was an old padlock next to the highway - it didn't have five numbers so obviously was not what I was looking for. Read a few previous logs and decided to have a go at winging it, after all how many twisted guardians could there be? As it turns out, plenty.

All was going well in the search until I looked into one and found a bee hive! Yikes, then the bees found me. I wish I was a real gecko, with thick lizard skin. Got one bee caught up in my hair and it stung me on the head. Others were on me too so I had to make a dash to the car. Stopped on the way to get rid of a couple that were in my hair, managed to get them off without killing them and without getting stung again.

I never realised how painful a bee sting can be - honestly. I'm forty two years old and have never had one before! So I didn't know if I'm allergic or not either....had an anxious drive back to work, fortunately I only had to go to Brindabella Business Park. Managed to scrape something off the sore spot (hopefully it ws the full stinger and not just a bit of it) and got an ice pack from the fridge at work to take the heat off it. It's been an hour now since being stung so I don't think I'm allergic at all - just a bit of a wimp. One of the guys at work was disappointed that I didn't hang around until I found the cache...men!

Will have to come back another day and hope to heavens that the cache is not located near THAT tree! TFTH Smile

Its nice to be greeted by smiling faces when you find a cache.

I couldn't see any brass plaque anywhere, until... well I guess you know where I was standing Smile
Off to GZ. A nice walk through the bush to the cutting.
The twisted Guardian is great, never seen one quite the same.
Thanks, Robmc.

A short easy walk from the car to WP1 then off to the twisted guardian. Nice touch here with lots of extra red guardians (ants) at the base of the original.

Parked on the side of the busy road to get WP1 and then drove into quieter streets to get a better park for the GZ. A brisk walk over, through Brambles and a fence line for the cache find. much easier on the way out! Left a TB.

Nice little walk into a secluded area, on a warm to hot day depending on the amount of shade found. I used the force to find this one (brute force) as my gpsr is mucking up, the screen keeps blanking out, I didn't bother with waypoints as it is only a short distance and there are not too many possibilities up and around this area so it was fairly easy. It would have been even easier if I had read several recent logs first though. Good hiding spot at the GZ as it is not readily apparent until the right angle is achieved. Picked up a couple of large ants while signing the log that thankfully didn't get much of a chance to bite, luckily no-one else came past as I was making sure no others had snuck up my jeans...

A bit of a seach at WP1 to find the plaque but once the GPS settled there it was. A pleasant stroll through some nice bush to find a very nice tree. Greeted by ants that took an interest in my legs while signing the log. TFTC.

I'm sure it's the bumper of a Datsun 120Y. Thanks for the cache. ZZ7

1462. You take the high road - actually we both did and then had to find a way down to the actual road we were supposed to be on. I can now understand how Big Matt found this with wrong coordinates. It's the obvious spot. Very glad that I never had to travel on this road. I hope those that did had good (if any) suspension.

TFTC and the historical walk complete with historical car remnants.

Thank you thank you!!!

Found WP1 with a little help from Bewilderbeest - the brass plaque isn't quite so brassy anymore. A nice little stroll followed. No swaps today. TFTC

This took us a little longer than it should have - we took the more scenic (higher) route, but it was a nice walk through the bush. Found the obvious spot for the hide so a bit of a scramble to an easy find. TNLN.
Thanks for the hunt, Gwennie1984.

Murphy's Law was at play (as usual). When faced with 3 choices I decided to take the middle route & ended up with a scramble back down to the lower path through our second lot of blackberries for the day. Urch pointed out the obvious hiding spot as we approached & sure enough, there was the cache.
TNLN TFTC.

(#101) Found 1625. Drove past WP1 and saw a suspicious character in the spot we wanted to look. Pulled up and started the hunt for the plaque and found out that we (Team Dean and geokids) weren't alone!! Welcome "Bear640" to the ACT from Jervis Bay. We found the required numbers on the newly decorated plaque and Bear640 looked to the skies and called it quits....not us though...up the path towards the Twisted Guardian we trekked and there it was....sent one of the geokids (they're expendable!!) to do do battle with the guardian and he came up trumps!! Well worth the walk AND it didn't rain at all!! Sorry Bear640!!! TNLN TFTC!!!

What a great cache. We missed the road and walked up the wrong way, not up the road. It is a really interesting spot, and I enjoyed being brought here to see the old road. Excellent location in the final cache holder too. Well done Gwennie1984.

Well, after making a meal of my 3 previous find attempts today it was nice to get one that was straightforward. I love the guardian, a very appropriate cache guardian. And its great to see a cache stocked so thoughtfully.

Thanks Gwennie1984, top work.

504 - This was a lovely little multi to do at lunchtime. Quickly found the required info - walked up the road and then the guardian presented themselves. A very nice hiding spot to finish off a great cache.

Jumping down I must have scared a walker half to death as she quickly took off down the path...!

TNLN - TFTC !!

Cheers....

A great little cache! I love it how geocaching helps one discover places one has driven past very many times, and never knew anything about! Might have to try this road instead of the Kings Hwy next time... Then again, I think not! Very nice, loved the guardian also – increadible! TNLN, thanks Gwennie1984.

1st of 2 finds in the Queanbeyan area on the way home.

Parked nearby and walked to WP1, nice use of the facilities.
Co-ords for GZ worked out and started the walk, great area.
Found the hiding spot, great looking GZ.
Log signed and cache replaced, great hiding spot.
Walked out, thinking wow, what a great little cache.

Well done.

Left coin, took nothing and thanks for a fun little hunt.

Cheers,

Well, that was a nice little stroll up the old road, a road I never knew existed. Interesting to see. Thanks Gwennie.

Congratulations Gwennie1984 on your first hide, and what a good one it was. That GZ was really asking for a cache - really interesting - and what an excellent thematic name. I noticed other members of the guardian's family on the way back. I also noticed that the guardian must have been out and about because I could see where it had left lots of green, pink, orange and blue fluro marks dripping behind it - I wonder what they all mean.

A good hunt at the beginning - not the plaque I was expecting. A good bushwalk in an interesting area and a nice hide. Thanks

No worries at all, we enjoyed ourselves and these are the risks of the FTF. All other things aside it was a great first cache, keep them coming!

Shell and I were sitting at home today watching TV relaxing after a big weekend and I checked emails and saw this cache. Well it has been half an hour since it was published, that's about the drive time for the border jumpers, lets go for it!

Got to the GZ and searched and searched for the plaque. We found a survey mark and thought that must have been it but the numbers didn't work. So we went back and searched again. Perhaps we keyed the co-ords incorrectly, checked them they're OK. Just don't know, we did notice a big hole in the ground near the point for WP1 so that may have been it. (see photo)

As we had the dogs with us all ready for a walk we decided to go for a wander up the road anyway and as we walked up we spotted a few objects that suited the cache name so we checked and after a few missed attempts we found the cache! So that is two firsts, a FTF and a first time to find a multi cache with no help from the GPS.

Thanks Gwennie1984 for the cache. A nice spot that we were looking at last week wondering where it went!

I am very sorry. I managed to have a transciption error between the field and my computer, even though I have written down the number so many times in the last week for work. If you found the survey mark, it is correct. The hole was actually dug by me and my chainman when we were trying to find a survey pipe. Yet again, apologies for the error. It should work with the numbers now.

Congrats though on finding it without the co-ordinates.
