Climbed 2/3 the way up, until the thicker branches were beyond my legs reach. Saw nothing from above and nothing from below however when I climbed down I found the remains of a green basket which may or may not be part of the cache. No log present anywhere I could find.

I have seen this cache before. I will swing past on the weekend (28th Oct 2018) and see if it is still there for the owner. It is very hard to see if you do not know what you are looking for. I will post a note on the cache to advise either way.

Good Day,

This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).

I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.

Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Being our second last day of of holidays, we teamed up with The_Tritonz this afternoon. With a heap of solved puzzles still to collect, we got cracking. We drove the length and breadth of our nations capital, adding smiley faces to our map. Well done to all of the CO's, you certainly made our brain hurt. A bit of teamwork and we soon had the prize. With the heat of the day getting to hot for ourselves and DAB to continue on anymore hikes we decided to hit the caches closer to the roads.
After getting a park at the dead end road we walked through the small pine forest until we reached the sentry tree. Circling the tree gave us a pretty good idea of our destination. With DAB's height giving us the advantage needed to boost the geomonkey up into the tree to the first limb, we were on our way to adding our names to the logbook.
Thanks JezzzaXtreme for the great placement for us and others to enjoy.
PS cache is in situ and in good condition

Amazing view and beautiful tree! The log book is getting full, there are no empty pages but still some space for signing.
There is also a pen in case you drop yours (luckily I didn't).
I didn't realise the first branch would be so high up but I managed to get up fine and climb down again after admiring the view and waving at some people walking on the path nearby.

What a cache! Climb up is ok. Getting down somewhat harder without a ladder. Thanks.

06-May-17
Just happened to have a ladder and met up with a few cachers tonight. Decided on a canberra tree climb night! The 4 of us jumped into the one car and are tackling one tree at a time. Dodged a few falling objects from pockets as they dropped but with the 3 torches the sentry tree looked more like a Christmas tree! Thanks for cache!

I was somewhere looking for another pesky cache, when I (almost literally!) bumped into DRT, and we were then joined by Aquillus and dty73, who had arranged to meet him there with a ladder to get that one - I ended up doing the climbing up for that, then it was decided that seeing they had a ladder they might go grab a nearby tree cache too ... I decided to come and help, even though I had found that one before ... I like climbing trees, and group caching is fun Smile
... when we got there DRT decided to make the climb for that one, but - because I volunteered to do the monkey thing for them, we then continued on and found some other tree caches - 3 of which I did the (much more difficult Smile climbing for, and one easy one I didn't ... not because it was easy, but because it was one I had hidden! - lol
... only one of those 3 I climbed was one I had not found before, but I am writing notes for these others because I figured the TBs I had with me might like a visit Smile
I managed to drop my phone from somewhere just above the top of the ladder, and one of my 2 pens from higher up - lol - but my phone was fine and we managed to find my pen, and I had fun climbing up and down the tree while being dazzled by torches - lol

On a night tree run with Aquilus1, Delta Response Team and Aykayem. We just happened to meet up so we kept on going. Luckily Aykayem had been here before so cache found quickly and she made the climb. Tftc and giving us a fun night of caching!!!

After finding Carpark Conundrum II dty73, Aykayem, Aquilus1 and I all teamed up and decided to use our ladder to find more high up caches.

After climbing a nearby tree climb in Kaleen this one was next on the "We have a ladder what can we climb" list. We drove right up to GZ almost and walked the rest put the ladder against the tree and set to work. We must have looked rather funny to anyone 3 people surrounding a tree with lights shining up into the tree. Oh well thats half the fun.

Despite a good look around and in the tree this one eluded me, feel like I'm missing something obvious here...

27-Mar-17
Yay - I finally organised myself enough to put required equipment in my car and come and get this one for my daily find ...
After a visit to my psychologist (yes, I am a bit crazy - lol) I headed off to collect some stuff I had on my desk at work (because it no longer is my desk - when I go back there I will be doing something different) and then came to have my fun in between that, and a sewing evening - lol
TFTC - I was able to drive up the gutter and along the track and park right beside the tree Smile
... up the ladder, and up some more ... and the job was done ... a few selfies/photos of the view/etc later and I was safely back down and feeling good Smile

Some of the photos I took (and some photos of myself finding other tree caches/etc) are in a recent blog post I did - here: [http://aykayem.blogspot.com.au/2017/04/me-up-tree.html](http://aykayem.blogspot.com.au/2017/04/me-up-tree.html)

6099. Found by baby&Mrs gopher at 1100.Well it's baby's birthday and we needed to do one worth the memory. After seeing this placement back in 2008, it has been on the to do list. The time had come. We found the nearest entry point and went for a walk, taking the tools we thought may be needed. It took a while to get to gz but get there baby did. This is a square now off the list for the first time. SL and it took nearly as long to replace so it wouldn't fall. Tnx JezzzaXtreme.

Getting from cache ' stick with it' proved a challenge, as crossing the creek was impossible, so a walk to Barton hwy, then crossing the newly built traffic light intersection was the only way. The cache was exciting for the geokids who found, retrieved it but ended up with sticky fingers. Nice cache, a thumbs up. Tftc.

Our first cache for the day and we thought we'd start with a look at a tree....not just any old tree, the Sentry Tree. Plenty of specimens to pick from but it wasn't hard to work out which was the right tree . We came prepared with what we thought we needed and we were right, we'd have had no chance without it. With a pen thrust at him, MrG made his way to the cache and was soon signing the log. TFTC JezzzaXtreme.

You either need a very tall friend or a ladder. The first branch is about 2.5m high! Sad

Found with The Matetrix, coming straight from a find at 'All Strung Out'. The first step offered several options, but from there smooth sailing to the cache. The Matetrix to it first as per these sort of things (8 year olds for you), but 30 seconds later we were signing the log. TNLNSL TFTC

I had been eyeing this cache off for a while, and even paid it a visit recently, but was feeling a bit overwhelmed by the climb, so had left it. But recently I discovered that TikvaNZ was keen to grab this cache also for the 2nd loop of his DT grid. So we teamed up this afternoon to make an assault on GZ. I had the hardware sorted, and TikvaNZ had the software sorted, and between us the sentry tree was toast! There is not much room left in the log (apparently), so that might need attention shortly.

Thanks for the sentry duty JezzzaXtreme!

AngelG27 and I both wanted this cache for our D/T grid goals so we diverted from our usual goal of just finding multis on our semi regular Thursday after work caching mission. As she said in her log, she provided the ladder and transport, and I did the climb. Once we got the ladder in place it, the cache was soon reached and the log signed. TFTC.

The approach to the cache has a very European feel. The smell of the pine trees and the soft ground. The climb was fun on a great day.

What a great cache. Not too easy but not too difficult while out for a stroll on a cool summer's day. I have never done a tree climb geocache before but will be more careful next time - had to do this one twice to retrieve a dropped pen lid...

Found 9:23 pm with SkyPirate~. I had the geoson staying with me and he likes the more challenging aspects of caching so these came to mind. We headed off to park on the side road near to GZ after some other running around in the geovehicle. I've been out to scout some of these type caches before and since I was on my own and in the dark opted out in case anything went wrong. This time we still found ourselves in the dark. But I wasn't alone this time after some searching with the torch couldn't see anything. So with me standing guard, SkyPirate being the most athletic clambered up with the view something would be seen higher up, and that he did. A little later saying I can see it. After that things went quickly with the log signed and cache returned. With words of caution Sky made his way down and now off to the next port of call.
Thanks for the cache.

That was fun. I was worried about getting down, up was relative easy. Thanks.

With the rain having past we headed over to this one to see what sort of climb was required. Reading the last log we were a bit concerned by a reference to Larry the Ladder but on sizing up the climber there were enough spots to grip onto until reaching the first branch and the things became a little easier. We soon spotted the hide nestled away and completed the signing duties. TFTC.

I've done a few tree climbs lately - outside of work! It's been nice to climb recreationally and score a few caches to boot. This cache was today's target as I make my way from Yass back into Canberra to have dinner with the folks to celebrate fathers day. A nice, straight forward climb, but I was very glad to see a pen in that cache! TFTC!

Found while spending the weekend in Canberra.
Before heading off I made sure I bought Larry (my ladder) with me, just in case it was needed and thank goodness I did because it came in very handy on this one!
A fun cache to do, thanks jezzaXtreme!

came out here today with a ladder as I'm 5 foot I have no hope of reaching the 1st branch.

Loki was home sick and Pagan was recovering from a cold so once P. was home from work, we elected for an easy one close to home. Urr... that is to say that's what we were aiming for. Didn't check the terrain rating for this one until arrival. Well this is Loki's forte so despite the rain, gumboots and illness it still looked doable Wink. Was grateful to have two people to make that first bit though. Thanks for the fun twist to our daily JezzzaXtreme

wow. This cache was over 7 years old! 7 years of hanging about in the tree with out me finding it.
Its been busy in that time to. Lots of visitors.
On first inspection I was thinking that I should have brought with me a special tool. None required after spotting a few good foot holds.
Nice view at the top.
Thanks for the find and also thanks for filling in an empty slot in my d/t matrix.

We spotted the cache from the ground. It was a long way up, but that wasn't going to stop me, so up I went. It turned out not to be a hard climb. In fact the cache could have been higher, as the higher I got the easier the climb became. The start was the hardest part. I had fun. I took the TB 'Stripey Car'. TFTC JezzzaXtreme.

That's a tall tree! Decrypter did the honours, while I took the requested photographs. Well, someone needed to record thisRed Face. TFTC JezzzaXtreme.

Teen daughter and I had actually done this one about 3 years ago but never got around to logging it. Escaping from the house we decided to do this one again and drop off a travel bug.
First time she scraped her legs and this time she scraped her arms going down. Marched it off like a champion though. Fair bit of Puddle Company DNA on that tree now! Smile

Decided on a long day of caching in the ACT. and left home 3 am. Had a great day with 2 events involved as well. Lots of find and (unusually) liots of dnf's as well. Met some great people and the weather was at least dry today. Finally home and exhausted by 8 pm. Thanks for putting out this cache! Was glad I did this part of the trip on my pushbike as it came in very handy for the first 1.5 m!! Wasn't sure I picked the right tree untill my nose was touching the cache. Love caches like this

Looks like the lower branches have been gone for quite a while, which makes the first part of the ascent (and the last of the descent) quite difficult! Enjoyed climbing up - I reckon I've doubled my career tree climbs in the last week in Canberra.

#551. 146 days in a row.

I picked up The Ball last night and had to kick it northside. However, it seems to have got stuck in a tree. Throwing sticks up after it didn't seem to help, so it looks like someone will have to climb up and get it...

This cache has been on my "to do" list for a while, but I hadn't got around to it. Picking up The Ball gave me a perfect excuse, because it makes it difficult for the northsiders to pick it up again. On the flip side, since there are so few previous finders of this cache, whoever does pick it up will probably get another find in the bargain.

Another one that I had been saving for grandson (from Weipa) to visit. Once near GZ I could see why there were warnings on this one. Good on those of more mature age who have actually achieved signing the log! Cache was thrown down to me and I duly signed the log and then grandson returned it to its hidey hole. Sorry ALL 7 - it is there! Now we are here we may as well go track down another. TFTC JezzaXtreme - it lived up to your name! I hope all yours are not like this one. TNLN SL

[red]My humble apologies for the late log...[/red]

After living away from home for 6 months, I have managed to find all my caching associated paperwork / notes & photo's so I can (finally) log all my finds...

My sincerest thanks to all the cache owners for their hides & all the effort gone into them & I'm sorry for the generic log... I have seen many beautiful area's that I would not of seen or experience if not for your hides...
Thanks for bringing me here and for the cache... Big Grin Found this whilst House Sitting job around Canberra... A lovely part of Australia... Smile Helps carrying a 'telescopic' ladder in the back of the Prado... Cool

I was driving from Belconnen back to Gungahlin having just finished the xmas shopping a bit early & wondered if I could squeeze a couple of caches in before the next of the days events. I'd been thinking of tackling a few more tree climbs after some early successes at lower level climbs. This one didn't look too terrifying so I thought I'd have a go. I've only been caching for about 5 months now & had thought tree climbing was something I'd never need to do again. How wrong I was. Actually it was quite fun. The first stage from the ground to the first branches is a bit tricky. At one stage I considered dragging over an old, dumped sofa as a booster, but no need. Tftc JezzaXtreme. I will slowly tick all these tree climbs off.

Went out for a 5 hour bike ride today with the dad, nice sunny day for the bikes, and lots of geocaches along the way!

This was the last one for the day, and by far my favourite!!!!

We probably approached the GZ from a bad angle, because to add to the terrain we had to climb a (very) steep hill from the road... We then saw the tree and I thought how am I going to get past the first part?

I then saw a conveniently placed branch (which we did not break!) and started the climb. Not to difficult for a young guy like me, once I found the best route I got to it fairly fast. Took the cache to the bottom to sign, and re-climbed to replace. Definitely my favourite cache so far, as climbing trees adds a twist to it!

8622 + 998 = 9620. Found on a sunny Saturday morning with Sol de Lune and LuckyL10n.

Its certainly a long time in the making ! SDL and I teamed up with LL to at last cross this one off the list. And it seemed easier than we imagined. Signed and returned the log, and moved on to the next tree !!

Thanks JezzzaXtreme !! And of course to LL for his much appreciated assistance !

It's taken 6 years, but finally managed to cross this off the list....and with the help a skilful climber at that. Meet up with fitzy and LukcyL10n early this morning and watched as the L10n made the climb.....ensuring that no bark was taken off either the tree or the climber......gotta be happy with that.

Log book was meet sort of halfway up, duly signed and then replaced. From there, it was off to the other nearby by-ish climb top grab that one as well.

Thanks for the cache Jezza, nice to cross it off...and thanks to the L10n for the assistance.

The second and final cache for the day after a disappointing game of soccer. I almost had my leg broken! This was another one that nicely filled a D/T spot so I decided, after climbing one tree, to go and grab another. Drove over and parked as close as possible. Then I made my way over to the tree where it was much easier to spot the hide. From there it was an easy climb up to the top. Yes, I do enjoy climbing trees so it was easy for ME! TFTC JezzzaXtreme!

Out with new cachers bladder-smear pootin showing them the ropes. Have though of doing this cache before, and we were nearby and decided to have a go. Luckily on in our company was freakishly tall and had a go climbing. I spied the logical spot from the ground and it was quickly in hand however no cache Sad

Looked around on the ground and didnt notice anything. Read the previous log and found the container. Log signed and cache replaced back where it should be.

Today is a niceish day at the moment, and it's Saturday. I've been a bit crook, but I'm not wasting a nice day for Geocaching, particularly in view of the forecast rain tomorrow. The GeoSchnauzers are looking appealingly at me as I pack my Geocaching kit. C'mon, GeoSchnauzers!!! They need a walk, and they're getting used to short parks and grabs. I'm hoping for some longer walks today, but I'll have to take it easy as I've been sick.
At the start of today, I'm on 670 in my quest for 1000 by 20 September, the end of my first full year. SmileSmile This is number 3 of 10 I found today. SmileSmileSmile.

This was a quick park and a good walk around three caches, with GeoSchnauzers in attendance. TFTC!!

This one was lying on the ground in the open. It is obviously supposed to be in the tree but I am not game enough to climb the tree so I put it at the base and covered it with pine needles. Just as well it was on the ground as I would not have been able to climb up and sign it.

Cache 8 of 8 on a quick "I'm stuck in Canberra over Easter" caching run around the Barton Highway...

Spotted the cache from the bottom and dug out the climbing skills. It didn't take long to reach, sign and scramble back down. I timed the descent just right. Some bogans I'd seen collecting wood earlier drove by on the dirt road, looking for more firewood. Any earlier and I'd have been up the tree. TFTC!

So I was heading home after grabbing a couple of caches for the day when the mobile went off. "I am going after Sentry Tree if you wanna join" yippeeeeeeee "Count me in, be there in 10" was my swift response.

Being vertically challenged like myself, these types of hides are rather hard. So I was definately up for some assistance on getting this one off my radar Smile

Arrived at the GZ to LuckyL10n already onsite scoping out the challenge ahead. Greetings were exchanged then off to work we went. Up the tree went LuckyL10n in a flash. Damn he is like a monkey !!! LOL

Cache was quickly in hand, log signed and then down the tree came LuckyL10n.

Well he just made that look all too damn easy lol

Thanks for the invite along LuckyL10n and thanks JezzzaXtreme for the interesting cache Big Grin

#938 - 18:00; I have been wanting to get the 'three peaks' of North Canberra (Sentry Tree, All Strung Out and Petrie's Nest) for a while now and after arriving home from a drive in the country to find ACTEW Water fixing the water main in my street, an opportunity came up to have a crack after doing an errand. As it was closing in on dusk, thought I'd better organise a spotter, so a quick message to Rapidlywild that I was going to have a look for this cache resulted in a quick 'Sure count me in. Can be there in 10?' and the mini mission was on! Arrived first and was sizing up GZ when I saw RW approaching. With a little encouragement it was all systems go and so up I went and it was soon cache in hand. Log was signed and then it was off to another in the nearby plantation which had eluded me on a previous occasion. TFTC and for all the scrapes and scratches JezzzaXtreme Cool

Sunday 15 September 2013 - a cloudy, sunny and warm spring afternoon perfect for bike riding, walking and geocaching to achieve the 10,000 steps challenge for the day. The walk alone was 10km over 3 1/2 hours for 18 cache finds. Thx PaM. Quick & easy find. TFTC.

Went for a walk with ACTchil and Koda geodog to get the few caches in this area. ACTchil said this one means climbing up a tree, yep did it, got a little way up and after 5 mins froze....not good with heights so decided to go down, just as I got to the ground, I walked around the tree a little looked up and there it was, just a little higher, time to get over the fear and go back up as this would be my 200th....so yep up I went again...just a little higher....woo hoo I did it! Wish I got a photo of me up the tree - Smile tftc

Took the kids out for a walk in the forest to get this one. Saw the cache in the tree and was an easy climb to get this one. A great place and very enjoyable challenge. TFTC

When we got to GZ we saw that it was lying on the ground broken. I was with someone who had previously found it so we climbed the tree with the cache and placed it were he thought it had been. It should currently be wedged in a fork in the tree next to a bit of string that could have been from this cache. We put cache with all the parts of the basket we could find in the tree securely but would recommend the owner coming to repair it. (this was on the 14/4/13)

Found it on the ground. The basket has broken. Didn't have anything to fix it. Left it behind the tree.
