Having spent a week in Mittagong and Sydney, it was time to drive back to Canberra today, via family lunch in Casula. I had a few spare hours so I before lunch so I found a few geocaches to fill up my Jasmer/Ausmer challange and in different LGAs. This was my first find of the day.I have really appreciated these old Sydney geocaches for the lovely areas of bushland that they have taken me to.Thanks for the cache, Peter Stuart!

How can you pass up a cache with this many FPs thats nearly 24 years old? Its a trick question, you cant. And it didnt disappoint. Thanks for placing and your dedication maintenance of this cache.

Great walk in to find an old cache. Filled in a month/year combo for us. TFTC

Friday caching with oldmorty. This was my main focus for the day (needing it for GC406HT Old School Challenge - New South Wales).Oldmorty accompanied me till we got through the tunnel. I then left him below as I ascended in search of the GZ. I got a little confused when I hit a fence and still had some way to go. I found a hole in the fence and went through. This cant be the way to go, so I backtracked back through the hole and made my way along the fence line. A short time later, I found the cache containing some stash. Rang oldmorty to say that Id found IT. Signed the log and returned all as found, then returned to oldmorty.

Bisoutje and I are on a roadtrip with a campervan between Cairns and Adelaide and havr now touched ground in Sydney.Today we are on our way between the Blue Mountains and ACT. With a small detour we were able to visit this cache as well. This cache brings me another step closer to completing the Jasmer challenge. A lot of challenges are on my to do list but Jasmer is on top! We were able to find a few other 2000-caches in Australia before but never could we pass so near to GZ. The walk to the cache briefly goes through a nice bit of jungle. Crossing the tunnel was no problem as water levels are low today. The search-tracks brought me straight to the cache which was a quick find.TFTC and favpoint for maintaining this oldie.

Initially on my list for Sydney as a JASMER filler, I completed that month when I visited Dunedin last month. But today I decided that I should come & look for this old one anyway as it would become my oldest *Large* cache.I caught an express bus from around the corner of my hotel & one stop (20 minutes) later I was at Oakes Road. I've never seen a bus stop in the middle of a motorway before! It then took as long again to walk to GZ via the tunnel under the motorway. I'm not sure what I was expecting of the tunnel but it wasn't with a creek running through it!It was then just a short clamber up beside the concrete before the description told me exactly what to expect & the cache was spotted from a distance. All was safe & dry & I happily signed the logbook before dipping my *Horses Around the World* geocoin which only visits caches older than 20 years. Unsurprisingly there was no sign of the listed trackables & they should sadly be marked as *Missing*. Thanks for keeping this old one going...Found at 14:58Cache #10470TFTC Peter Stuart

Greetings from Wales. Our last day in Sydney and after a morning at Bondi Beach we were driving up to the Blue Mountains so I had to divert here for such an old and historic cache - permission granted by the Boss. We parked in Haines Road and I followed the path under the motorway to GZ where cache was soon found. Thanks for keeping this historic cache going so long. Brilliant stuff.

This was the other main target for today. Feels like a bit of a pilgrimage to this oldie, with the beautiful bush track, the cool tunnel (nice and dry on the left when going into GZ) and a great spot in the bush where the large container was immediately spotted. Thanks for keeping it going - a favourite from me!

One of a handful of target caches in Sydney this weekend. Finally I have my name in the log. Lovely location. TFTC Peter Stuart!

FP in / TB inToday Docla, our son and I moved from Newcastle to Canberra. The most important stops on the journey were of course GC3E Lane Cove and GC1F11 Sydney Geocache Relocated! This was our second important stop after Lane Cove. We parked the car in a nice residential area and were in nature a few meters further on. The tunnel was easy to cross and the small stream in the middle was no problem. Finding the cache wasn't difficult either. Thank you for this dinosaur and greetings from Germany. FP in / TB in

We have been working on Jasmer for a long long time, and when a trip to Sydney came, this was just what we needed. Actually, I can say that it is possible with a long layover to do this cache out of the airport. We had 7 hours from we had delivered luggage to the airline, before the plane onward left. We took bus (for airport train) to the city center, then took a train, then a bus (follow google maps), and walked the last kilometer. No problems what so ever with the train and bus, hurrah! Approx 1,5 hours from the airport. When we got close to the area, we went in the suggested path, down in the tunnel, and out on the other side. No problem finding the cache! So happy! After a victory-dance, it was retracting our steps back to the bus, and waiting ten minutes (lucky - not so often buses there), and backtracking to the bus for train to the airport. In total we used a bit over 3 hours, and had plenty of time. And: finally finished Jasmer!

Our 1st attempt was on 2 apr 24. After returning from the Geobash in Canberra and the Great Leap Forward in Adelaide we set our sights on this old cache.First Waze wanted me to stop on M2 but we deemed that unwise. Then we found the appropriate path. Rain. Hmm. Lets give it a go. Nice cement pathway. Well be right. Ha ha jokes on us. Cement soon gave way to leaf strewn path. Oh well, soldier on. Hmm slope is getting steeper and slippery. What the heck. We are here. Over logs down rocks. lol without falling down. Note, Im not the most agile person. We make it to the bottom and look at the culvert. Hmm. Seems to be rushing water down the stream and through the underpass. We had no way of knowing how deep this was and I was always told growing up not to enter tunnels during rain storms.Ive lived in Sydney long enough to recognize that this might not be a good idea.Another day.Headed back up the slippery slope, got back to the car and dried off.Attempt 2 - 15 Apr No rain today. Back from our Orange and Yass adventures. Finished off the Govenors Pleasure this AM, so cleaning up before no1gardengirl heads back to Oregon. Mulch easier going down to the tunnel when its dry and we arent sliding on leaves and mud and rocks.Oh look we can see the ground. We would have been screwed the first day as we probably would have attempted to cross on the right side rather than the left. That would have been no bueno. Nice to see that there is a sidewalk through. From previous logs we noted that there was a steep option and a less steep option. We opted to go a bit further and found the less steep trail which basically took us right to the cache. Signed, took pictures and made our way back.Just as we ungraciously got up over the steep tree bit we encountered more hikers. We guessed that they were geocachers. Which they were. From Germany. Had a lovely chat. Thanks for keeping this one alive. 2000 caches are awesome.Gets another fav.

An epic adventure. Came here a couple weeks ago when it was raining and can up against lots of water in culvert. Decided to try another day. Well today was the day. Water had drained from culvert and we discovered a dice dry sidewalk the whole way thru. Found correct side of fence and the large bucket cache. Left a traveler for the next cacher. On the way out met a nice couple of cachers from Germany on their way in.

04-Apr-24
Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. This was on my hit list while staying in Parramatta this week. Following advice taken from previous logs, I parked on Haines Avenue in Carlingford and followed the track and tunnel in. Didnt take long to locate the cache, hidden outside of the fenced area (noting that there would have been a coordinate creep over the years). Fantastic to find a cache placed in 2000, and even better being partially buried (no longer permitted) and in a really cool location. Add fav. Cheers Peter Stuart! Big GrinJoin us in Augusta, in Western Australias South West, for WA Goes Big 2024 (GCAGV8Y) on Friday 20 to Sunday 22 September. Log your will attend now!

The Adelaide Leap Day Mega and Canberra Geobash gave us a great excuse for a road trip. This trip has shown us so many new and interesting places as weve chased LGAs, oldies, challenges, interesting D/T combinations, rarer cache types and favourites.Meeting up with friends old and new along the way, we sometimes cached together and sometimes alone but always had a great time. Our trek home continues today as we stop in Sydney for a day to attend an event and find a handful of oldies and LGAs. Well this turned out to be an eventful find. We parked at the suggested spot and made our way along the track and through the tunnel before heading up to find the cache. A nice speedy find, all was good here and we took a less steep direction back down. Just as we were re-entering the tunnel, we were hailed by a lady from behind us. She and her elderly walking partner had gone for a 1/2 hour walk at the other end of the reserve nearly 3 hours ago and were still trying to find their way out. The gentleman wasnt looking too good so we decided to accompany them and gently guided them out through the tunnel and up the track to the road before driving them 20 minutes back to their car in Castle Hill. We certainly didnt expect that when we came to find this cache. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for us and adding to our enjoyment.

Great to knock off one of the oldest geocaches in the world. The Cockburn Crew are on tour at the Capital Geobash in Canberra - travelling from Perth to Sydney, Canberra, Sydney and finally back to Perth.Today was day 8. We completed a huge number of trails, challenges, whereigos, traditional, multis, earthcaches, labs, virtuals and puzzles. It really was a great day for variety. We enjoyed caching in territory we havent been before. Weve filled our boots with some rare DTs and DTTs and generally had a great time. Thanks to the COs for a great day and event. Logs signed as part of team WA/WAC (WA Crew)

Day 22 of our roadtrip in Australia. Today we're leaving Sydney for the Blue Mountains, unfortunately with a rather bad weather forecast. Let's see how that turns out. On the way we plan two stops for the year 2000 caches in the area. This cache was of course on the list as well. Parked at the trailhead in Haines Ave, walked through the tunnel and left along the motorway. A good path right up to the cache. Nice to find another of these old caches still active. Thanks and kind regards from Switzerland, Hinni&Simo

04-Apr-24
We had this on a list as a spare in case Plan A for completing our jasmer in Mornington didn't pan out. It did, but we came anyway as it will help with the second loop! Donned rain gear for the first time this morning, though happily it had eased for us here. More of an adventure than anticipated but thankfully the tunnel was clear of water. A clamber up but a less slidey route down was spotted. Met with another group (WAC) as we arrived at the tunnel exit. Nice big box...no TBs left but we swapped swag and took some photos. Thanks for keeping another oldie going

04-Apr-24
Well that will teach me not to read the description! You know how the saying goes. Take the hard road in, then find the easy way out . Dont regret it for a second though, as we enjoyed a beautiful (albeit steep) and scenic bushwalk/rock scramble. And it made us feel like wed earnt it a bit more than just a short stroll through the tunnel. No, this is a cache that deserves a trek. Very pleased we can finally add this to our list of finds.

03-Apr-24
I was super happy to add an old cache to my finds! You can never have enough caches hidden in the year 2000. However, it wasn't the easiest find of the day, that's for sure. I wasn't sure that I had the best parking spot, but I parked and made my way to GZ. I had read previous logs and knew to take the low road and then make my way below earth. After crossing to the other side, I didn't stick to the clue soon enough so it took me longer to get to the cache than it should have. But I got there and added my name to the log.Thank you for the smiley and the fun!The day:After spending two great days in the Blue Mountains, it was time to move on down (up) the road. I was visiting from the U.S. and had a goal of driving all the way up to Port Douglas over the next couple of weeks. I had set a long travel day that included the oldest cache in Australia. I tried to leave early enough to make it to my destination before dark. It was close and required some on the fly adjustments. Many thanks to all the geocachers who placed and continue to maintain their geocaches for folks like me to find. I know it's not always easy, but know that I appreciate you.

Found with PPrime, thank you

Walked through the track and tunnel which was cool! Arrived at GZ and thought it was on the other side of the fence but then looked behind us and found the cache. Tried to swap a patch for a basketball but it just didnt fit. My first 2000 cache! TFTC

What a great find! Worth the trek, and never take the high road.

10-Mar-24
#19343 - 12:43:58 PM; Arrived in Sydney with the geohoney and headed off to finally get this cache of my 'must do' list after dropping her off for some retail therapy in Drummoyne. Made my way out to Murray Farm and a convenient parking spot to start the hunt. Took the high road to start with and when that didn't work out, headed lower and through the tunnel. Once I was through, it didn't take too long before the cache was in hand, the log signed and a couple of TB's were checked in and a couple checked out. Nice to get this oldie logged! TFTC Peter Stuart Smile

Find # 26 815MAIN LOG FRIDAY MARCH 8TH 2024AUSTRALIA TOUR - DAY 10eterg and me - stensbye - are visiting all the way from Norway, first of all to attend the Mega-event in Adelaide on Leap day!Wich we did!We also attended several other events, and found some old caches, some virtuals, webcams, earthcaches, Labs, and whatever that came in our way, if we had the time. That is now history, and also today, like the previus days, was time to make new history!Yesterday we arrived Sydney, our last destination in Australia, and today was the day to find some really old caches!!First cache for today, was https://coord.info/GC1F11 - Sydney Geocache Relocated - from November 2000!Second cache for today was https://coord.info/GC3E - Lane Cove - from May 2000!, oldest cache in Australia!Third and final cache for today was https://coord.info/GCF1 - Fryin Pan - from December 2000So, all three from 2000, all filled a gap in ours hidden month/Jasmer-calendar, and after today, i only misses june 2000, wich i can get in Dublin, Ireland, Europes first cache, and eterg misses 4 i think, but probably and hopefully will get one more tomorrow. And before this trip, she had like 20-30 gaps in that calendar...!The first cache - Sydney Geocache, and the third and final cache: Fryin Pan, where bothsigned as TA = Team Avensis, wich was eterg and me, and replaced it!The second cache, Lane Cove, is now a virtual, here i tried my best to answer the questions, and i think i got them right, but, you never know...Answers is sent, on behalf of eterg and myself, so hope they got co approval. And, yes, we had a looong and exciting drive to Fryin Pan!First on the Highway, that wasnt any problem. Then on a normal road, little bumpy and winding, but we managed. After 2 hours drive, at least, we turned onto the exciting part.Lots of regulation, VHR-channel-advice, but we took the chance. Still 14-15 km to go.So, up, and up, gravel, stoney road. Very dusty! We turned right, and met two trucks, just at the junction/crossroad, so it was space to turn aside. After a few meters we met two bulldozers, working on the road, and we where afraid this was it.But, they made room for us, and showed in hand-gesticure that we could drive on.Wich we did.The road was bad for a norman 2-wheel drive Toyota Camry, afraid we'd gonna meet more trucks,or get a flat tire, but after a few meters, the road got better, and we got our hopes up again.Meter by meter we got closer, eterg wanted to walk the rest several times, and i kind of agreed, but nowhere to park, so i drived on. And suddenly i saw a very nice green big place!, with several campers!Turned almost 180 degrees, and what a sight!, what a place!! Wow!Quite understandable why people drive all the way to come to this place and camp!We parked the car, tried and failed a couple of times to find the right path, but we managed, and soon we where at GZ.We searhed, and searched, but no cache. Then eterg said she read something about a stone, and the rest was easy! Then the horrible road back, 14 km, but we came out there alive and kicking,as well as back to our home for now in Sydney!Tomorrow is our last day!, our plane leaves on sunday, 10th of March, and we have two more caches on our "must to-do"-list, and a bunch of virtuals, an event, and then some more, on our "if we have time"-list SmileThank you all for all the caches!Greetings from Norway!TA = Team Avensis = eterg and stensbye#################################################################https://coord.info/GC9P5N1 10. We are for a few days in Sydney and this cache fitted perfectly into my list of missing hiding months for the Jasmer challenge. It was a small adventure to get to the cache, just as it should be. We were rewarded by a large box with lots of TBs in it.Thank you for maintaining this historical cache!Greetings from GermanyJan and Drte aka Platzwart

On our way back home after spending a few days in Sydney. Much cooler today and just the occasional drizzle until it poured down for the last two hours of our drive, thankfully after we completed our caching for the day. This was a must visit on our trip down here. We originally marked to do it on Wednesday but read a previous log that the water level was high so delayed it until today which worked wonders, the infamous tunnel was clear and we made a clear run straight to gz. Don't find hides like this very often. Good to finally have a physical year 2000 cache under our belt. Thanks for the cache

Greetings from Seattle! I am lucky enough to attend the Great Leap Forward Mega-Event in Adelaide with my fellow Lackey and best geo-buddy giacaches, and we arrived this morning - kicked off our shoes and sweaters, put on sunscreen and sandals and headed into the wilds to find some caches in a new place - all before we headed to Accor Stadium to see Taylor Swift. What a day!It was exciting to have this one on the list - we both love getting old caches and a year 2000 cache was hard to pass up! It was tough to figure out how to get in, but we did, and the hike was filled with a bunch of birds and a blue-tongued skink! I was so excited to see them in the wild, and hear my first Kookaburra! We found the cache in great condition and grabbed a few TBs to take along. Thanks so much for adding to the trip!!

23-Feb-24
Greetings from Seattle! I'm "down under" with jtcoffee to attend the Great Leap Forward - the mega-event in Adelaide. Of course, we're delighted to find another oldie. Today marks the beginning of a new adventure and the conclusion of my 2+ year streak that ended somewhere over the Pacific when we skipped Thursday! TBH, I had no plans to start another streak after I completed a 366-day run years ago in my original home coordinates of the Midwest. Yet, after relocating to the land o'plenty of caches in the Pacific Northwest, I found myself on another streak quite unintentionally ?????Anyway, this was one of the first finds in Australia and I'm at peace with the streak ending as there are some amazing experiences on our horizon! ??Additional Trip Objectives:* Experience Taylor Swift's Eras Tour in Sydney (TONIGHT!) ?????* Find the world's first Earthcache *(and then 30 more - for a challenge!)* ??* Drive the Great Ocean Road ??* Attend the Great Leap Forward mega-event in Adelaide ???* Visit the Lord of the Rings filming locations in New Zealand ????Along the way, we will find as many caches, counties, waymarks, and adventures as possible. Danke fr diesen Geocache. Danke fr die Ausarbeitung. Danke frs Zeigen.Lieber Gru aus Duisburg / DeutschlandAndyDieser Logeintrag wird mit Hilfe von Google bersetzt.__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________We set off on a long journey with 37 geocachers from Germany, Denmark, Luxembourg and Switzerland. Three weeks to Australia and New Zealand, starting with a stopover in Doha, Qatar. I have never been so long and so far away from home. An exciting time. When geocaching, the focus was on many different cache types, but also special ratings, challenges and especially a few very old caches from the years 2000 and 2001. But also, of course, especially the geocaches that were easily accessible on foot from the hotel.Of course, the focus wasn't just on geocaching; the sights of the individual stations we visited also deserved attention. We entered our team name Downunder 2024 in the logbooks, saving logbook space and efficiently. It was a very special trip in a large team, which was also a lot of fun.Today we visited the areas around Sydney.Due to the large number of caches, there is usually only one standard log, for which I would like to apologize to the different owners. Thanks for this geocache. Thanks for the elaboration. Thank you for showing me.Kind regards from Duisburg / GermanyAndyThis log entry is translated with the help of Google.

We have traveled with 36 likeminded geocachers to Australia and New Zealand resulting in lots of opportunities for sightseeing and geocaching. The logbooks were mostly signed under the teamname "Team DownUnder24" and answers were sent to owners for the group, as appropriate. This has been a great trip with a multifold of new impressions and experiences.During our stay in Sydney we had also the opportunity to visit some caches. This cache was one of the top to do caches for Sydney. Thanks for leading us here and showing and thanks for the cache.

Together with 36 other geocachers, the KiSt team undertook a very long trip to Australia ???? and New Zealand ???? for three weeks. On both the outward and return journeys, there was a stopover in Doha, the capital of Qatar ????.We experienced a great deal on this trip and gained many very different impressions of the two countries, their nature and their culture. Of course, the main focus was on visiting as many caches of as many different types as possible and also all accessible old cans. However, we also made sure to visit many special places of interest and to gain as comprehensive an impression as possible of nature and its flora and fauna. To save the logbooks, we usually signed in with our team name **Downunder24**. For "special" cans, however, we have not missed the opportunity to leave our nickname as well. This beautiful cache is now also one of our finds.Due to the large number of caches visited, it is unfortunately not possible for us to write an individual log for each can, which is why we would like to apologize to the owners for this collective log.We also met other cachers at some of the events and were able to share our experiences. Many thanks to the event owners!Of course we would like to thank all the owners for showing us the great locations, the sometimes tricky puzzles, exciting multis and wherigos, as well as the interesting virtuals and earth caches - TFTC!!!---In der Besetzung KiSt unternahmen wir zusammen mit 36 weiteren Geocachern fr drei Wochen eine sehr weite Reise nach Australien ???? und Neuseeland ????.

This geocache "Sydney Geocache Relocated!" was the highlight of the day. We were very excited to see how we would find this old box. The bus journey went smoothly. It was strange to see that the bus stop was in the middle of the motorway. After a short walk, we reached the tunnel. We were able to walk through it without getting our feet wet. Now we were only a few metres away from our destination. We enjoyed opening the box. This experience will remain a lasting memory. ?? A favourite point ?? remains at the box. That's for sure. Thanks Peter Stuart??

# 21390Whau, I am on a three week trip with Cacher-Reisen and a bunch of fellow geocachers to Australia and New Zealand. It is so odd to imagine that I am going to visit a place that is nearly on the opposite of the globe from my usual hangouts. In Denmark it is late winter/early spring, and I am exchanging the winter-part for late summer in Australia and early autumn in New Zealand. This is so exciting. The itinerary is Frankfurt (Germany), Doha (Qatar), Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns (Australia) and Auckland, Rotorua, Wellington, Blenheim, Christchurch, Dunedin, Cromwell, Queenstown (New Zealand) before flying back to Europe. That will be two new continents and three new countries for me - and as far away from home as I have ever been. It is a lot of places and travelling, but we also have a plan to find lots of geocaches and see the sights and beautiful nature. After the mornings event a small group went in search of some old caches. I had three caches that fit well into my Jasmer calendar for the third and fourth loop. We used public transport in the beginning and at the end and Ubers in between the oldies. Nice and comfortable way to get around. Some from our travelgroup visited this cache yesterday, and the showed pictures where the tunnel was completely flooded after the massiv rainfall yesterday. So we sent for the wider roundtrip to get to the cache. It was a nice walk - almost except for the downhill walk where I dredded how I was going to get back uphill. We saw and heard a lot of birds, most of which are rare in Denmark, and we could enjoy the area. On the way back we walked through the tunnel, and it was interesting to see how fast the waterlevel had fallen since yesterday. Thanks for the hide and great experience to get out into these woods.Tak for cachen til Peter Stuart.

6 months ago, during a frenzy, we said to ourselves "why not going to the mega in Adelaide for the leapday". From scratch we moved on to preparing an 18-day project in Australia. Our objectives are simple, visit a small part of this immense continent while validating a few caches. There are so many caches (impossible to do everything) that we will select. Our plan will allow us to visit Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Mount Gambier and finish in Adelaide for the famous Mega.During our stay we will log PestiHoot for Pestinette and Blackhoot.Today, we visit Blue Montain.Guided by the GCs, we hiked in its beautiful mountains. Very beautiful landscape. Thanks to the caches we visited many sites evoking Australian culture and history. Thanks for the cache and the discovery of beautiful or original spots

We visited Sydney for two days and of course did some caches. This was one of them and one of the most important caches on our list.First we choose the short way to the cache. But we could not get to it as the tunnel was full of water because of the rainy weather today. We had to change our plans and get to the cache from the other side using the long way. But finally, we made it and find the box. Thanks for this little adventure. Regards,Biggidag

A group of 38 geocachers from Germany, Denmark, Luxembourg and Switzerland - Team Downunder24 - are traveling for 22 days from Frankfurt/Main via Doha to Australia and New Zealand. I was able to discover many wonderful things and irretrievable experiences are burned into my memory. I'm finally on Australian soil for the first time and spending 3 days in this exciting and inspiring city. We took a short hike in the rain to two old caches, a harbor tour, went to the open-air cinema in the evening and admired the impressive Bondi Beach. Many different types of caches were discovered - this one was also there! Today we caught a very rainy day to get to this old cache. The path under the underpass was flooded, so we approached this cache from the other side. What was probably a small stream became a "raging torrent" over which we jumped "elegantly". At the cache itself we met an American and chatted briefly about our hobby. I would be happy to award a favorite point for this cache and the adventure that goes with it.In 1 FP Thanks to Peter Stuart for the cache, luring and caring for it - kind regards from Switzerland ????

Arrival day in Australia ??. This is my first visit to this extraordinary continent and the fulfillment of a long-cherished dream. In the past, it always failed due to the lack of a travel companion. Now I had the chance to join a large group of mainly German geocachers and I was delighted to take it. One of the greatest experiences on our trip is visiting the old caches ??. The most difficult thing here was finding access to the target area. In the rain ? the shortest route was not the best. Everything was flooded. So we rescheduled. We called an Uber and were chauffeured to the other side. So we started our hike from Virginia Place along a pleasant path to the shortcut, where it was a rocky descent. We carefully picked our way down so as not to slip on the wet stones. Once that was done, we were able to walk along a wide dirt road to the hiding place. Only once did we have to cross a small stream with a big jump, which we mastered together with flying colors. We were met at the cache by essap2, who had just signed in. It was not entirely unexpected that cachers from other countries also had this cache as their goal. Only the weather was a surprise, but hey, we're not made of sugar. We chatted about our hobby, exchanged experiences and I envied the young American that he had the time to hike to GCF7 the day before. That will be another trip for me ??. Now I'm enjoying this cache and wishing him a pleasant onward journey to celebrate this moment. On the way back, we took the long way to Heidi's Place to avoid climbing again. Instead, a large number of cockatoos flew over us, which we were unfortunately unable to photograph. I'll leave a favorite spot for the jungle feeling I've got and take a few travelers with me. Thank you for laying & taking care Smile.Ankunftstag in Australien ??. Also umdisponiert.

Four years ago, a Bromance team adventure to hike Australia's highest 10 peaks in Kosciuszko National Park was cancelled after bushfires devastated the Snowy Mountains (and indeed most of the Eastern seaboard). We finally returned to Kosciuszko National Park a few days ago and spent three wonderful days in perfect weather hiking a 61 kmcircuit around the mountains climbing all of Australia's 13 highest peaks and collecting all the alpine caches along our route. After a recovery night and some caching in Canberra, and then Goulburn, we made it to Sydney last night. We are planning to high tail to Brisbane today, but first we want to grab a very select list of target caches in and around Sydney. After an early start, we battled the traffic from Western Sydney to the Georges River, where we nabbed a target virtual. After a few more caches, this one was the last on the list in Sydney before we hit the highway north. It was a must do for me as it filled a hole in my Ausmer grid. I was excited to see the distance count down, but then we roared past it on the freeway and trekked into the suburbs where 10 minutes later I set off on a hike down the hill. Being short of time , I opted for a direct trail, which of course disappeared at the bottom of the hill near the creek. I bush bashed a bit before finally crossing the creek and emerging on the fire trail near the cache. I suspect it would be easier to use the tunnel under the freeway to access this one, but not for me today. Sydney often amazes me how there are magnificent pockets of temperate rainforest right in amongst urban infrastructure. And this was a good example. After admiring the graffiti at the tunnel, I hit GZ where the cache was an easy find. After signing the logbook, I swapped a few TB's before jogging back up to the car and our 9 hour drive to Brisbane Thanks for keeping this oldie alive, Peter Stuart.Pete#7,782
