[Green]Out for a quick multi... yeah, that'd be rare - and this is our closest to home. Very interesting piece of history - I never knew it was even here! Alas, it seems the cache is not here... or maybe the contact # has changed [^]

31-Dec-14
See recent logs. Pretty sure container has been muggled. Request CO confirm cache is still there.

31-Dec-14
Out for a few quick finds early this morning. I used to live not to far from here and never knew this was here. What a great piece of history. Unfortunately, I did not locate the container. Given a few other DNF logs, I will submit a maintenance log. I checked out the nearby tree and saw a massive caterpillar, about 5 inches long (see picture). Hopefully this cache can be up and running again soon. Thanks Chalk It Up

23-Oct-14
i couldn't find it last month and i feel for sure its been muggled but i'm going back again this week to double check

18-Aug-14
dangit, easy puzzle to solve, once at GZ i knew exactly where it was but turned up nothing. the guy living next door to the cache was giving me a verrrry dirty look, so I think he may have muggled it :C

27-Jan-14
Lovely bit of history but I couldn't find the cache Sad

Found on a night hike with Orroral Troop, Macarthur Scouts. Having been in the area for so many years and not even realising that such history is so close. Thanks to Girrawa for his work in preservation of our local history, and thanks to Chalk It Up for the cache.

02-Nov-13
What an interesting little building and history. This was our second visit here as the first time the cache was missing. TFTC.

02-Nov-13
We solved this long ago only to find the cache was missing. Now that it was back online we returned, did a quick bit of calculating and were at GZ with the cache in hand in no time. Thanks Chalk It Up, a great little spot, glad to see it back online.

25-Oct-13
Thanks for bringing this one back on line Chalk it Up. Nice to visit a familiar place I was responsible for doing the heritage listing for and it's conservation. Found with Eziweb.

Finally found a new suitable location. Unfortunately the old hiding spot was cut down. We have changed the clue to suit the new hide. Sorry for the delay. Hope you enjoy the suburban history. Cheers.

I will drop in on this one and get it fixed in the next few days. Cheers

Thanks for my walk to the Rural school house, I loved the little story about 8 yr old Harry Oldfield on the Canberra Tracks info board. I think I found the right tree, there was a little nook at the right height but no cache. However I am new to this, and it was dusk...not the best time for looking for tiny objects.

02-Feb-13
We found where we think the container 'should' be, not really that many places it could be hidden, but we couldn't find anything at all. Since this was last found almost seven months ago, fair to say this might have gone.

26-Jul-12
I never knew this was here, thanks for this one.

15-Jul-12
Nice little gem this one. Lived across the road from here once and even walked the dogs past it and still never knew it was here. Great to see these places still standing.
TFTC and showing us this great bit of history Merekats!

03-Jun-12
Almost got this one a few weeks back but got muggeled out of it so we returned tonight to sign the log. TFTC Cheers.

Who would have known this gem was just tucked away in a nearby suburb - thanks for the cache Merekats! TNLNSL.

06-Apr-12
A little bit of history we were unaware of. Thanks for the hide.

Found it late this afternoon in the rain. Visited last night to get clues and had a quick look where I thought it might be but no luck. I was even looking in the right place. TFTC #34

interesting spot. thanks to bring me there

13-Jan-12
Found @ 1915 - I'd sussed the GZ coords earlier in the evening, but a band of mini-bike mini-marauders were tearing up the street nearby so I thought it best to seek my fortunes elsewhere in the hopes they'd be gone later. All quiet on return for a while, then the engine fires up again - then dies, so I guess they ran out of go-juice. Slipped in for a relatively quick find, but only after resorting to the hint, as the neighbours were stirring so I didn't want to be lingering for too long. Interesting info about the school (smart kid that Harry!) TNLNSL-TFTC.

12-Jan-12
Found after a delay due to a person sitting in a parked car at GZ. Oh and the Red is now a faded pink. TFTC

Great location, we have been inside the schoolhouse before, but we were not into Geocaching then. The schoolhouse is open every 2nd Sunday of the month.

Nice cache and what an interesting place. Who would have thought this was here in the middle of the 'burbs. Thanks Merekats for a great cache.

24-Nov-10
Interesting stuff here, and a straightforward multi ! Cool
However, everytime I approached GZ those darn dogs would bark ; it was amazing, one step away from the tree - nothing; one step closer - bark ! [8]
Eventually I bit the bullet and charged up to GZ to make the find. After replacing, the dogs started to bark again as Mr Neigbourhood Watch returned home - I'm glad he can't understand canine ! Big Grin
Thanks for the cache, Merekats ! Big Grin

We had an early start to make it to the ACT 10-10-10 event with Hinklenator & HINCO.
After the event it was time to go for a few caches, and this was one that we decided to do to mark the date also.
It was actually a bonus as it was the 7th of 7 different types of caches I found today.
Nice easy multi for our last find for the day.
Thanks for the cache,
Roostaman

An interesting visit. After some circle work resulting from confused entries in the GPS, we narrowed it down and found the cache. Sometimes easy, this time a bit harder!

13-Jun-10
We walked in even decreasing circles until the GPS settled then the find was quite easy. TFTC

Wow very interesting about history... very impressed to see very old building 1880 - still good condition but pretty lot of goats.... SL. Thanks Merekats for organising the cache and hunt.

22-Nov-09
lots of goats and dogs nearyby. geart old building and a hill that needs a cach too.

21-Nov-09
New container and log replaced in original location.

18-Oct-09
took the kids for a walk up and over the hill on sunday morning. We believe we found where the cache should be but suspect it may have been taken. Good tip from previous logger to google 'Scuba Micro' as I have not seen one of these before, and still. Sad Oh well, I guess I'll have to just keep on caching on. Smile TFTC. The good news is I found heaps of cool spots on the hill to hide a cache or two. Keep an eye out.

Surprising amount of muggles around for this one. And I am not talking about the goats!!

Gathered the required info yesterday but then the rain got too heavy to continue. Returned today and logged the find at 1725. Thanks Merekats.

26-Jul-09
Interesting place. The goats seemed to have taken a liking to me. TFTC.

19-Jul-09
Geokids found this all by themselves. They did all the maths no problem which I thought appropriate seeing on where we were.[^]

Nice hide in the end which took them both a little while to find.

On a night-time roll after Holden EH - and what an adventure that one was. Smile I remember looking at this many months ago when I made an attempt on Simpsons Hill which was a DNF (and was later found to be muggled and archived). Then started this one only to be abandoned as a mob of the local kiddies descended on GZ for a game of tag just as I figured out where I should be looking. Finally today I thought I'd swing by again to finish it. Reasonably quick nab once I got there (no kids out in the dark tonight - it's too cold, but I have thermals) Big Grin.

24-May-09
Easy find once the maths was done. TFTC

24-May-09
Nice.

30-Apr-09
Nice find. Tried to avoid the maths, thought I had it pinpointed, decided to try the maths anyway, confirmed my suspicions, found it! Haven't seen a cache container quite like this before, very nice. Just escaped before the anklebiters started arriving home from school. SLTFTC.

An interesting part of our local history I had never visited. The pressed metal front brings back memories or my grandparents house many years ago.

We were down this way tonight so I was looking for nearby caches and found this one which had me intrigued as I wasn't aware that the Schoolhouse existed.

We arrived just as the caretakers were arriving home and we had a very informative chat with them about the schoolhouse.

Anyway, back to the cache. We grabbed the required info, did the calculations and made a quick find at GZ.

Thanks for the cache and thanks for showing me a piece of local history that I never new existed.

A relatively quick find. Looks like the owners had some guests over! Sometimes canberra suprises you with these little anomalies surrounded by normalcy..

Nice school house, pity it's falling apart so - can you imagine being taught modern science in a building like this. TNLNSL.
Thank you for the cache.

27-Oct-08
Wow, I havent meet any cachers before on hunts and today I meet four at the same GZ. first we meet two of the Giggly Gecko Clan and then bumped into Big Matt and Farmer Frentzen. It was funny just before we got to this cache, wasptor was telling me how you sometimes can bump into other cachers, and in this instance he was freakishly right. Very cool cache too, Glad to learn more about Canberra, thanks merekats. Nice to meet you guys too! TFTC!

No need for a caching event. Just park here and let the cachers come to you. Wink 6 cachers all through the same street within 5 minutes of each other. Okay, so two live in the street, but still. Smile Anywho, was an unexpected find in what looks like a normal street when you pull into it. Thanks for bringing us there, and it was nice to bump into all the cachers and have a bit of a catch up. See you at the event.

27-Oct-08
Dropped in today with Big Matt whilst completing the nearby Simpson's Hill. We busted Wasptor and fraggle_rock at the GZ who thought we were muggles and stepped away from the location. Nice to meet up with you guys.

27-Oct-08
Now this is my kind of multi nice and easy. As FF said after helping him with the nearby cache we wandered down to bust Wasptor and fraggle_rock at the GZ, While they were chatting I quickly signed the log. It was good to catch up with you guys.

Thanks Merekats for a top little cache.

Love the simple ones. Even the math was not too hard. It has been interesting seeing old settlements out in the bush and river land, but it is also apparent the ACT had a life long before this generation. Thanks for bringing me here.

Some people saw goats here, others an owl. Rumour has it merekats and geckos can also be seen in the area, but there was no wildlife around for me today. Unless you count the postie.

A great historical spot, and an easy cache find too. Excellent. The only hassle was the postie doing his rounds just as I was looking for the cache. But he was soon on his way, as was I.

Thanks Merekats.

18-Sep-08
When this cache was published I was certain who had placed it, only to find that I was wrong again. The hardest part was navigating to the right street, and then it took a while to locate the well camouflaged cache. Didn't drop in today - I assumed the locals were at work, plus I was not in a fit state to visit.
TFTC.

23-Aug-08
Another real enjoyable cache. Happened to walk past here the other week and was most interested in the building. And now a cache to top it off. After the maths cache took a while to spot but got there in the end. Great spot and use of an offset.

A very interesting spot to visit. Enjoyed the experience very much thanks Merekats. Hope this cache lasts, it's pretty exposed to muggle scrutiny.

521 - No rain this Friday arvo and so I managed to get a few caches in...

Pulled up to the area for this cache and who should we see trying to look innocent among the flora than SS-BJC!!

Always enjoy meeting fellow cachers 'in the wild' - especially those who I've met before.

So we had quite a long chat and I ended up signing the cache and replacing it in its hidey hole...

A lovely area that - in 30 odd years in Canberra - I have never been to before! Thanks Merekats !!

Thanks Merekats - what a lovely rustic location! I would have found the cache quicker if I had remembered it was a multi - doh! headslap!. I was complaining about the coordinates inaccuracy to Sol de lune and Auscan1965 - now I am a little shame-faced.

I guess I was completely thrown off by wondering whether the Gigglygecko Clan was home. Afterwards, I went in and said hello! That was the highlight of the visit.

Found on the way home from work, in the dark, after completing one on the northside.

Worked out the GZ and started the search by torch light. With the house in question in darkness, I was wondering if at any moment the residents might arrived home. And of course the next car that came up the road pulled into the driveway. It was then the.....they looked at me, I looked at them situation, and then I went over and said hello. And the response..........'any luck yet'??

After a bit small talk (we worked out that we both work for the small place, just different locations) it was time to shut the gates as the goats were coming out for a look.

Still took a few more mintues to find the cache, but then signed the log and was on my way.

Thanks for the cache, and a chance meeting with another cacher, living in what looks to be a cool place.

Cheers,

13-Aug-08
Darn, we should really have been the FTF on this one - really. The Gigglygecko Clan are the current tenants of the Tuggeranong Schoolhouse and have been living here for the past two years!

In fact, Hi Merekats - I saw you taking the photo of the tree out front when I came home from work (in the red triton ute)! Thought it was strange but didn't think to come out and have a chat as I was in a rush to get the goats, cats and dog fed.

Please feel free to pop in and say Hi, we're a friendly bunch - just remember to keep the gate closed or else we'll all be chasing goats around Chisholm!

Some trivia about us and our time here - Jim proposed to me at the top of Simpson's Hill on 14 May 2007, which was quite fitting as his surname is Simpson. Then we were married on the front verandah of the Schoolhouse on 26 January 2008, ours being the first wedding to take place here.

Thanks for sharing our beautiful home, we've been too lazy to place a cache here ourselves.

13-Aug-08
Found on the way home.
I knew about this little gem in the middle of the suburbs years ago.
Didn't see the Gigglygeckos log till I got home, oh well, could have popped in, oh well, at least I didn't see any goats running around the streets, just a few kids on bikes! (Couldn't resist that)
Thanks for the cache.

13-Aug-08
That is just all way too cool! - and a bit freaky, really. No surprises that a bunch of cachers would live in a place like this, it almost seems too natural! Excellent story, gigglygecko clan - just perfect!

Obviously a good location, Merekats - I'll have to put it on my hit-list!
