Wow didn't know that this area was so close to home. It was a good hike. But watch the ants that live in the tree who also guard the cache.

This cat's not 50 yet, but found the spot ok!
Certainly a good walk and nice views.
Worthy of a Travel Bug for the next to find, so

Had sort of attempted this one before, but got to where I was going to park the car, and decided that 750m walk wasted valuable caching time ... so did not attempt this one on that day.

Was in the area today, so decided, given that it was a nice sunny day, a 750m walk was going to happen today!

Was a bit of a strenuous hike to get to GZ ... probably made it harder than it needed to be as I found an easier way back!

But easy find at GZ ... reclaimed my breath ... took in the view ...

Took braclet, left doll.

Added Seek3rs sticker and date to the log book.

Found a spot 245m from gz, didnt look too bad, a little up and down. Well the 1st down ended up in a controlled slide, that fast became uncontrolled! Survived the landing unscathed too.
Found a sml gully to navigate my way up to the cache.
Happy Birthday Mr Parrothead, albeit a little late, my invite must still be in the post! lol
Left 'Boomerang' tb TNSL

Had to locus cache on this one after getting so close to it while doing Panda Bear. Great to be in the country for a while despite being so close to suburbia. Mind you, the country has ants that live in trees, so be careful what touches you! SL. Left paralympian badge as it looks like a pirate's coin, to me. TFTC Smile

Smile What a challenge with 2 young city dwellers in toe. Attempted to walk, slip, climb up the gully but struggled with lots of prickly thistles and tall grass and trees in our path, so climbed out with a struggle, almost giving up with all the complaints. Soon found the easier path to take and took the opportunity to teach the boys how to climb down, through and up to the cache. Mission achieved. Poor Nanny needs a rest and time to remove the prickles from my hands.

We could not resist making this a driveby, especially with all the thistles everywhere.
Lee screamed when a huntsman ran over her hand.

Cheers and thanks for the cache

29-Mar-11
Finally got around to doing this one - one of the closest to home. Dodging them thistles is a chore - next time I'll wear long pants. Found with geo-wife and geo-dog who came along for the walk. TFTC sa mystery inc.

Couldn't figure out how to get there without climbing the gully - not sure how to access Whitford road, but will give it another go when we have time.

26-Dec-10
I found this a bit of a weird area, and a bit of a challenge to get to the cache.
but was rewarded with a find late in the day. Thanks for the cache.

08-Dec-10
No ants, but plenty of mud. With all the rain we have had, we container had water and the log was damp (and impossible to sign with my trusty IKEA pencil.). Thanks for the hide anyway.

25-Nov-10
I took the long way along the track towards the cache but I managed to walk back through the gully. Big Grin
Thanks two little pirates and a tj for the cache. Smile

29-Jun-10
Well what can I say about my adventure in finding this cache today - when we left the sun was out and and I figured it would make for a nice family walk, thought we would take the creek and work our way up to the cache - big mistake, after falling in the mud and landing on one of those lovely prickle bushes I figured my luck would change, luckily for me I found the cache and signed the lovely new log book, just before the heavens opened and soaked us all. I will definately put this cache away in the memory bank and laugh about the story, but at the moment the prickles that pierced through my clothes to my buttocks are causing me to grimice just a little Red Face

TFTC - it really was a great walk Big Grin

I approached from the west (Here Fishy Fishy) as I knew there was a reasonable way in. Then because I didnt' want to try the steep grassy slopes in my running shoes I walked down and around on the unmarked tracks and came to the cache from the back.

The ants found me while I found the cache - only one bite, then I found an animal track for a shorter walk out.

17-Feb-10
Davoz370 and three maggots found it.
Took nothing. Left a log (log book note, not a real log)
Dem ants are pesky. All comers, take care not to brush against any shrubbery. most are covered with the little stingers.
+Note pad moist...

21-Dec-09
Cache needs a look at, zip lock is torn, pen didnt work, water in container, Log book ok though just a little damp. Bull ants have moved in an are guarding ferociously as the daughter of 6 found out, she wasn't impressed but it didn't worry me as, I was just glad to get another notch in the scabard me hearties. Sorry I didnt bring the spare zip locks with me.

T = Pirate ball L = Led cap light and pencil for the log.

A nice walk after surveying the crossing. Pumping like a pirate had us both smiling when we arrived at GZ. I'm sure an AWD would not do this as a drive by! A tad of mud on the old boots today! 50 eh [?] Clear skies from TeamAstro and thanx Tara [^]

25-Oct-09
I really enjoyed the walk on this one. Interesting that the New Garmin maps put roads all over this area. I'm suspecting that in time this will be a big housing development area. It would be a shame because the area is quite nice as it is. Thanks to all the Parrots and Pirates for this one.

25-Oct-09
Our navigator said it was a driveby, we could only get within 95 metres from the cache, after all we were in AWD car
cache was found after a small search
Thanks to the two little pirates and tara

10-Sep-09
Hubby and Geodog did this today.....Neither are happy! Prickles everywhere......Geo dog is stuffed and just curled into a ball sleeping now.....

Thanks so much for the hide, next time we will do it when there are not so many prickle bushes everywhere.

As Mr Parrothead is now looking at fifty from the other side, I decided it was about time to collect this one. Parrothead is a top bloke, and it was a privilege to be invited to his birthday celebration.

Had a pleasant walk along the gully at dusk, starting from from Here Fishy Fishy.
Took nothing, Left Autumn Leaves TB.

Thanks TJ & the little pirates!

14-Aug-09
Found by Mary & David at 1520. Can't believe he's that old, and since the cache was placed, he's had another birthday to celebrate. Any grey hair yet under the pirate hat, or some white feathers on the parrot? Collected 'Celebrate 1000!!!' TB. Our thanks to little pirates and a tj.

25-Jul-09
TB visit to record its arrival in SA.

19-Jul-09
Great find TFTC!

15-Jul-09
Very easy find thanks to the hint and other logs. Ground was very slippery today, and had to cross a "bridge" covered in water so got my shoes and socks all wet and muddy, but never mind...a little bit of water and mud doesn't hurt me, I was more keen on finding the cache. Only a couple ants out today, and I saw a dingo run into the bushes in fright.

I removed the pirate notebooks as they had gone mouldy. Fatboy & I left a pirate bouncy ball. To add to the adventure, I even got ants in my pants Surprised

Found on a pleasant afternoon stroll up from 'Here fishy fishy'.
Mrs TiedyeSmileys does the honours of getting the cache then putting it back again. Walking back, she goes 'Oh, I've got a big ant on me. Argh, another, and another.' Luckily she was wearing a polar fleece top as they were biting pretty hard into the material.
After they were all brushed off, Mr TiedyeSmileys goes 'Actually, I now vaguely recall reading something in the logs about ants, lucky I sent you in.'

13-Apr-09

A Big hike after lots of caution going through the knee high dry grass. We got there though and found the cache surrounded by flies and bull ants.. The cache was a little musty and some of the contents are a little water damaged. A great hike up the hill though! TFTC

This is a wonderful tribute Tara and I really envy your Dad having such a loving daughter [^]. I enjoyed the walk and reminiscing about the Panda Puzzle as I went past the spot (I tried to see if I could remember where it actually was, but MY fifty year-old brain didn’t give me a hope Red Face ).
A belated birthday wish to Andrew and welcome to the club Wink. Took nothing, but left the ‘Super Cacher’ geocoin in the cache. Cheers all Big GrinBig Grin.

I went in not far from Garoonga Drive. Jogged it while family refilled the tank. When we got home, The Prof. noted that a stones throw from me, a girl was sexually assaulted in a reserve near Garoonga Drive. Now I don't know if this reserve was the one, but it was certainly close by if not this one. (It was at 5.30pm on Tues 16th Sept.) So a warning; BE CAREFUL as when I walked it, it was certainly isolated once you got walking. In hindsight, I should have taken someone with me.

But on another note..my approach was certainly good for fitness...Up, down, across, up down, up, down and finally there!....Then return..phew! A peaceful spot...all I could hear was my own puffing.Wink

I've been parking & grabbing all the way from Kapunda today, and then I reenter suburbia and get to this. TomTom didn't guide me to the most convenient parking spot, but I enjoyed the hike, nonetheless.
Left a bull and a car.
Took pirate-related booty which will come in handy for 'International Talk-Like-A-Pirate Day' this Friday. Yarrr!

The things you do. Got off early from work because I was going out for dinner. Got home at 5:30 and even though I had to be ready for 6:00 went off looking for this one.
I only know the way I have always gone up this track and it was a long muddy 700 odd metre walk to get there. Got to within 40 metres and the gps batteries died. Maybe I should have checked them before diving out the door. Still it is amazing the geotracks just 2 finders can make so I found it real quick.
Once again thank you tara. I helped myself to a parrot.
Arrrrr the spoils that a birthday boy can get.
