Wow. Beautiful spot. Was about to give up after 30min of fruitless searching. Didn't help my GPS had me pinged on the wrong side of the river but after reading the comments, there's enough subtle hints that when I was about to leave after searching the clearly wrong area I did one last scan around the gully and the correct spot was so obvious. I can't believe I walked past it 4 times. Great cache. Thanks
Gorgeous spot for a cache been wanting to do this cache for a while now and managed to get it done today. Thankyou for ur efforts.
Easy find but not easy to get there. My kid swaps a minion with a squirel."TFTC"
Once we figured out we had to go up and around rather than do any rock climbing a quick find ensued.
After a little cross-country, waited for the GPS to stop bouncing, good exploration for kids.
Great spot! On our first day of the rail trail, great to have a look at the river, TFTC
I, too, spent too long looking on the wrong side before spotting a potential hidey hole on the other side - which was exactly where it was. TFTC; I have never been to this reserve before.
Out walking roud Alex and decided to have a look. Nearly gave up then spotted a likely spot and was able to sign log. Tftc
This was one of a few caches we located in this neck of the woods this afternoon, including completing the local Ad Lab. We were starting to head away when we stopped for this one and another nearby. It was a superb day weather-wise and, with all the autumn colours on display, a great part of the country in which to be holidaying right now!
I struck it lucky with this one and found it almost immediately. #6105. TFTC.

So very close to a dnf! We were searching for an age in totally the wrong spot/'mountain'. So many places the cache could be hidden. Almost at the point of giving up I happened to spot a potential hiding place opposite the area we were concentrating on. Hurrah, the cache was nicely tucked away & we got a smilie here after all. Thanks for placing this cache in an area we'd never have discovered otherwise.
A find after skimming some stones and having a look at the historic cottage on the other side of the rive. Cache (in bag) was in the open and found by a (possible) muggle on the 8th. Replaced where we thought it should be.
That was a fun one! Nice to meet the CO. This is what we love about caching - we’ve been to Alexandra for years and never seen this spot before. Cheers!
Love exploring these rocks. Found a great hiding place, but empty. Was about to go on an epic hunt then checked T rating. T2 so not there. Looked in another place, what is this? Gotcha. Great place, love the rocks around Alex.
We where out clearing up a few caches that we haven't previously found I possibly approached this from the wrong direction..but as I was fumbling my way to GZ a voice from heaven called out " are you looking for a geo cache " "yes " was my reply. Then the reply from above "great...I am the CO" we were invited back to meet up after finding the cache great to meet the Two Jo and Joe and discuss the finer experiences of caching many thanks Jo Joe's great cache along with an awesome vista down to the river below...look forward to catching up along the trail one day
After a few chores this morning we got on our bikes to find a cache or three. This was the first one we negotiated our way to. We got to with-in 50m of gz and abandoned our bikes. Down we went abd up until a dog barked. Oh are we on private property? No it was the COs "guard" dog, followed by the CO. After going down, up and around we kept coming back to one spot. Macwatt reached in and discovered the nicely tucked away cache. We clambered back up hoping our bikes were still there (yes) and then around to to COs place to swap stories. Great to meet you Jo and Joe. Thanks for making our afternoon so good jojoes
A bit of a scramble through the slippery pine needles but found in excellent order.
Thanks
Thanks
Dropped van at garage to hopefully get small problem fixed... have 5 trads to knock off while that's hopefully being done. This the first, pleased to turn blue face into a yellow one.
Back in Alexandra from Roxburgh for another appointment so I'm ready to sign off a few more caches.
Found a easier way down from the first one I saw.
Cheers for the cache.

1. cache today. Second time lucky. GPS sent me to the right coordinates, last time I was walking in circles.
Found on the crazy trip from Luggate to Alexandra to meet 2 friends, to find some caches around, to sweat a lot of energy.

Today while walking our 'son from another mother' dog and getting some local caches we thought we would give this elusive cache another go on our way home ..... really an excuse for MrF to have a spell ....
With some perseverance and not letting this mountain and the GPS beat us.... 3 time was a charm... cache was in hand. We had been actually standing on it, several times it was in good dry condition

Been in Alex and near locations for the past few days, so it was time to do some local caches. No trouble finding this once once I got my route to it sorted. While I was signing the logsheet a thumping great pine cone came crashing down near the GZ. I was glade I wasn't under it! TFTC
We are out and about in the area finding some caches and enjoying exploring and revisiting other areas again.
Initially I let Hazedarus do the bulk of the searching but felt guilty so made the effort and soon lucked upon the cache.
Thank you jojoes.

We're hunting Tour caches and anything that's not slowing down our objective to much. Today is the opposite. Just one Tour Cache in the area but we take what's on offer without bikes and within our capabilities. It was a toss up which rock formation was getting the first inspection and by whom. We soon split up and Holymu made the find. Thank you jojoes
After an hour of searching and a couple of false starts, and a thought I found it,this cache has remained hidden today. It lives for me to find another day
Found it on a beautiful summer afternoon . Nice hide. Found after stepping back to get a better scene picture . TFTC
Spent ages here looking for this elusive one. GPS kept swinging me between two rock structurees.
Friday 23 October. Oamaru to Alexander today with the Oamaru LABs first up.

Dnf after 30 min searching everywhere. Does anybody have a photo of right place, please? Maybe in next days, but probably I don't want to return here - I am not lazy, but when I didn't know where to find it now ...
A nice quick find today, starting to get warm. Cheers.
And now it is time to head home. Today we started from Alexandra, and travelled through the Pig Root. Once we hit SH 1 No caching! (As there re none left)
Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

Jammed my thumb in the van at work so a few extra days off work so back up this way for a few more days and some more caching. This was a nice walk but it took a long time to find. Was so glad to find it as I just about gave up a few times. TFTC
Found with StreetWalker as we explored Alexandra, letting cache hides be our tour guide .
We parked near the bridge and walked up the steps. Once at the top, SW went straight down but I didn't like the steepness of the terrain and went to look for an alternative route. SW found the cache.
Now time to look for lunch. TFTC.

#16922. Got to the edge of some bluffs .... hmmm ... how am I going to get down there. Found myself a ledge to carefully negotiate my way down (on the way back I noticed a much easier way back up). Took a few goes before I laid hands on the cache bag. TFTC.
On our South Island adventure from Perth WA. A nice easy find with Spuddycakes in tow. TFTC
Great camo!! Had us looking for a good 10 mins.

The second random geocache we chose to visit was another good one. Nice hide, nice location. Inspired we continued up the hill to the observation point and enjoyed the view. Unfortunately that cache was out of safe reach. Tftc
While staying in Roxbugh i made a day trip to Al;ex to visit an old friend from many years ago. and so i left really early so i had time to visit some cache that i did not have ion Alex.
thanks for the walk and the cache on this hot day!

Best cache I’ve found in a while. Spent a while looking (soo many great hiding spots) - was just about to give up when I bent down to tie my shoelace and something caught my eye. Great hide in a beautiful spot - TFTC
Just climbed up to the clock. Loving being back in Alex and the smell of thyme. Great location for a cache. I remember riding my bike around here in the 80s before there were any houses. TFTC
DNF but I needed more time. The 4 others were waiting in the car, and I was in jandals, so not the best conditions for cache hunting.
Just completed the Otago Rail trail and tomorrow we are going to ride the Clutha Gold trail. A rest day in Alexandria walking 18 kilometres and cycling 6 kilometres geocaching. TFTC.
Unfortunately a DNF for us too - really wanted this one and invested maybe a good 30minutes here for no joy. Will be back one day.
No luck have spent ages need to get back and watch my son playing for the Otago Development 12th grade football team in a small tournament.
I have a cast on my arm so not the easiest to poke around.

A early morning walk to gz got muggled by cache owner and after a successful find I had a nice talk with the co . Nice and dry considering sarounding.

So off we go let,s see where we end up . Annielin in the navigators seat calling the shots with a let's go this way and then let's go that.

On the way back home to collect geokids from a camp... it's been great! .. adult time!!!
Sitting in the navigator's seat, telling downsouthinv where to go, what more could a girl ask for!!
Managed to find cache without alerting the co...dsi had already had a chat!

Thought geocaching was supposed to be relaxing! Found the area easy enough but took an eternity to seek out the cache. When I finally found it I'd lost my pen whilst searching. Luckily I re-found that a lot quicker. Tftc
Went up, followed the path around, then down the easy way to the cache - Fascinating spot!
In Alexandra for the Easter holiday long weekend. Mrs TG came out for a morning run and stopped past this one for a quick find and sign. Cool wee mini lookout. Cheers.
Nice tricky find, do not follow the path indicated by the app, very steep and dangerous. Follow the concrete path.
Omg how many mini caves with obvious rocks can be in one place!? We were soooo close to giving up when I spotted three likely holes to explore and Shazam!!! Beautiful spot to explore on a beautiful day.
Third on the short walk around the river. It took us a while, we were walking in circles, climbing over up and down, found a lot of mushrooms.. Only after a while found a little too obvious rock..
We watched a beautiful sunset from the view, really recommend the spot.
Thank you

We'd been here before in our early days of geocaching and we thought we would leave empty handed a second time but perseverance and the 'one more look' paid off. Found with debsnz
This took way longer than it probably should have. We spent some time going up and down, looking in all nooks and cranies until . . . . finally! Found with AorakiSheep
On my way from Dunedin to Alexandra, I wanted to find some caches along the way. Today it's Good Friday and all the people that only drive on days like this were in front of me. From Allanton to Glenore I never exceeded 80, pfff.... So I was very happy to pull out of that slow stream and started caching.
After arriving in Alexandra, behind loads and loads of slow cars, caravans and motor homes, I was very pleased with parking my car at the motel and to start walking. No jams or slow people that get in my way. I walked up (and down) to this one, when a dog came up running at me. He was very friendly and also very wet, his leash was hanging around his neck and after examining me, he took off. Never saw his owner. This cache wasn't difficult to find, from the point where I started searching, I looked at it immediately. Thanks for hiding!

Was finished early with client's in Alex so decided to do some caching in steelcaps.
Not my brightest move. Couldn't help but climb all over the place, only to find the cache was realitively accessible!

An interesting gully which took a while to explore and eventually find the cache. Challenging when you know that the CO is watching! TFTC
In Clyde for the school holidays so while exploring the area time to get a few more caches. A beautiful spring day in Alexandra and 23 degrees! Parked by the bridge and then a lovely wee walk to GZ. Nice easy find once there. TFTC
Nice easy find once we worked out the more accessible route. Love the cammo bag idea. TFTC
Staying in omakau for the weekend. time to put a few smiles around Alex.
