Got stuck with the prickly bushes and terminated my search! Will be back. Thanks anyway G-2's Bodyguard
# 926 one of 100+ and we also placed 5 caches in NZ this trip as a thank you to the NZ Cachers that made this trip so enjoyable.
We are over the ditch for 18 days, with the goal of achieving our 1000 milestone at East Cape, which will give us our Most Easterly Find as well, 4* east of our current one.
Sorry about the delay in logging, no access to a computer, had to wait until we are home in Qld.
Right near the GZ was a car that needed a lot of TLC, every piece of glass was smashed, the car was gone the next day.
I love these hides

#401 We spent a little too much time in the grouse past the cache. Log book disintegrated and possibly full. Added a temp log book. Took TB. TFT(road side)C.
Good spot to pull off and eat lunch. East cache but the log is in very poor shape. sorry...we had nothing to replace it with. Maybe Parsons Esq. might have some ☺️☺️☺️
Pulled into the layby just as another car did the same, managed to park away from them and close to the cache, also out of sight of them. Quick find, thou bank was quite slippery and nearly ended up in a heap and the bottom. TFTC.
Found on our way to Cooks Beach. Bank was slippery, but I managed not to trip up or slide down it.
On our way from Auckland to Tairua we found this nice little cache. Greetings from Germany and tftc.
A quick find at GZ, in the rain, although one of us slipped up the hill and ended up with a fat lip from slamming the GPS into their face. Ouch! Thanks for the cache!
On another road trip with Squirrel Nutcase to collect the 309 trail so thought we should pick up a few more caches as we passed. Started our adventure at 6am Saturday and back home at 3am Sunday with 91 caches in hand. Best ever day caching or should I say day and a bit.
8.45am - Parked on the heli pad, guessed they wouldn't be flying today, no problems to locate. SLTFTC

Love nothing more than a bit of randomness in our day. Parked up as advised and took the slightly muddy pathway up to GZ. Great little place to stop off the road and cache all good. Thanks
TFTC, didn't realise that the trail was behind the plaque, however still made it to the cache relatively easily
Came this way on way to Whangamata so that I could have another look for this one.
Don't know how I missed it. It's right where I thought it would beand I know I felt aroud this shrub.
Will have to put it down to the damp conditions at the time.
Anyway glad to fill in the row of smilies. TFTC

Once we were on the correct dirt path and a quick rummage it was a team effort that paid off, tftc!

This cache kept us busy for a while. I think we thought that the hide was more difficult than it really was and searched in all the wrong places. When we finally located it, it was right under our noses. Thanks for another random cache! We are getting exited to get our feet in the ocean at Hot Water Beach!

A big thank you to all the geocache owners for being our “tour guides” in New Zealand while we are on our short holiday visit to this extraordinarily beautiful country! We traveled the North Island in our little camper van and we came across minimal damaged caches and we only had very few DNF’s.
"Groete" all the way from South Africa!

Unlike the nearby cache this was NOT a quick and easy park and grab! I spent at least 10 minutes searching about for this, and got a light drenching from water on all the foliage as I searched about for the cache. Gave up and returned to my car but returned to have a second go, determined to find the cache. I guess perseverance paid off as I managed to finally find the sucker!
Thanks!
Thanks!
Cloud had lifted a bit but was still raining by the time I got here.
Had a bit of a search around but was feeling rather damp, physically and emotionally, so didn't really feel up to a close exploration of wet bushes.
Glad to see others did find it later. Unfortunately there were too many muggles about when I came back through on the way home.

On a roll today - all downhill. Then up again, then down again! Where is my motorbike?!
Out for the day with Squirrel Nutcase. We were on a mission to fill in a few caches to qualify for the 37º latitude challenge and to introduce "The Squirrel" to the wonders of the Coromandel Peninsular.
Next one on the list. Once again the boys got the cache while Mrs S babysat the Geomobile. Actually Mrs S was just be lazy and letting the boys do the work. lol.
Found the cache and while they were signing it a truck came ripping into the car park so fast, we thought he might have trouble stopping. Was that really necessary?
Thanks again glyn(the only one). Another smilie on our Coro map.

On a mission with Spiderhouse today. The purpose; to collect a handfull of caches so that a challenge can be completed.
Mr S had the gps and found this one quickly. A strategic hide really; the little gully is well screened from the vehicles that pull into this layby at speed. TFTC.

Haven't ever stopped here before. Took a wander around the carpark before spotting the 'track'. Endured some gorse prickles and had to poke around for 5 mins before spotting the cache. Nice placement. TFTC
Cruising from Taupo to Whitianga. No luck today, lots of prickly stuff. Thanks

This was found together with AHougaard and KHougaard this afternoon . We have had an awesome day at Tiritiri Matangi Island and now we were going from Gulf Harbour to Hahei Beach.
We needed to stop to grab a bit to eat, so it was obvious to stop at a place with a cache It was an easy find on a beautiful and sunny day.
Thanks a lot for the cache

A good place to pull right off the road, and a good hide. The cache was a bit wet and rusty so we gave it a spring clean. The log was fine.
Randomly decided to make this one my last cache of for the day, then randomly drive through random Auckland traffic to some arbitrary destination. Starting to get damp in the container, but it's still good to go. Cheers for the cache.
arrived at the kaitarakihi car park halve and hour before time(no sight of the gang and they only drove for halve the time i did?) , so seeing this was just down the road thought id whip down and nail it to my tally.
didn't need the gps to tell me in which direction to head.. even got cheeky and left the car running.. but soon realised that the gps and the number of little bushes was going to make that risky( back to the car, turn it off, back to GZ) then the gang turned up, recognised my car at the wrong car park and started calling my name - pressure... right at that moment i thought to my self - "where would i hide a cache" - amazing that is exactly where i would have put it - why didnt i look there before.....

Quick find and very cold but managed to get a trackable out of it as we head to whitianga for the weekend. TFTC glyn
Third find of the day. Interesting journey to get to cache, we both almost slipped over climbing the little bank to reach the path to the cache. Then it was prickles galore from the gorse! Luckily I spotted the cache in the very first place I looked - pure luck! TFTC

A quick stop on the way to Whitianga for the weekend. Coords seemed a little out but after widening the search the cache was quickly in hand. The track up the bank next to the plaque was very slippery and i was lucky not to make a fool out of myself in front of the oncoming traffic. Lots of young gorse along the trail now which should keep the muggles out! Dropped TB for moving along. TFTC!
Found on the way to the coromandel, track was very slipery due to the rain but cache was an easy find once up, TFTC.
Stopped briefly here on the way to Tairua today. Had a look at the plaque, then headed up and found the cache quickly in the third place I checked. Signed log, TFTC
Found it together with Team Autoværn on our New Zealand tour back in 2013.

Nearly missed the turnoff for this one, not paying attention, glad there was a wide entrance way. Squeezed past the gorse and found GZ but nothing there, widened the search area and was just about to give up...and there it was, tftc
This little guy played hard to find today despite my looking around many bushes ;-( Thanks from this Canadian anyway.
9.20am. Our last for this trip as we are now heading back home. Number 105 for the week. Another track that is starting to disappear in the encroaching undergrowth, but still easy to get to and find. This is a good size rest area and one where a toilet would be appreciated.
Thank you. David and Noeline.

Out this way for a bit of work on an island, passing by so stopped for a leg stretch (and a cache) Thanks for this one too.
Last day of my NZ trip and back to Auckland with a short detour to Hobbiton.
Quick find along the road while stretching the legs. Thanks for the cache! I would have loved to continue my walk into the wild but I lacked the time unfortunately.

Found ourselves at the cache, much to our surprise, as we had missed the correct turnoff by following the caches instead of the roads. Ah well, lets go exploring then... Dodged around a bit of gorse for this one, but then an easy find. TFTC

Had to head over to Hahei for a client meeting (about their problems) so decieded that seeing as my day was effectivley stuffed I would head over VERY early and get in some caching before the meeting and having to drive all the way back to Hamilton.
Was just getting light (about 20 minutes earlier) and the road was all quiet, a quick find and an interesting read about the engineer with the foresight to push for this route to be established

Our sixth day of our honeymoon to New Zealand and Australia.
This morning we had so say goodbye to Auckland as we continue our journey close to Whitianga. After having breakfast we first pick up our Ferrari red Ford Falcon Futura XR6 and then checked out in the hotel. This is a big car which is also automatic, so for Jo* a lot to get used to, but she drove also. Our first cache of today was one from 2000, called Auckland stash. We continued our journey with a visit to a very nice hidden waterfall. On our way to Hahei where our Hawleys Hehei Bed &Breakfast is locate, we drove through the steep hills with their green ambiance. Sleeping in B&B is again a new experience for us, after getting married, making stop-over and flying to the other side of the world. We would like to grave our own tub on Hot Water Beach, but the weather wasn’t cooperating, so this nice attraction we did not do. Instead of that we visited the caches located around Hahei, the Cathedral cove and had after that we had some talking with our very hospital house owners. Yes, this is the reason why we have chosen New Zealand, we love the beautiful beaches and remarkable views, much more than just the green meadows with cows and sheeps from the inland, although they are beautiful too. This evening it is the first time we go out for dinner. It is a kind of pub, called “the Grange” eating a 100% New Zealand burger. We are logging now in this pub, because the bought 2 Degrees data package does not have coverage here. Damn!
We found this cache today at noon local time.
On our way to Hot water beach we drove along this long curving road where some caches were placed, and one of them was this cache.
After Jo* caused an "emergency" stop for letting some cars passing, as she was forgotten not to use her left foot, *Ba drove further . A few hundred meters away this cache was located. As it had already rained the clay was very slippery and we had to watch out not to fall. At ground zero we had to look around to spot the cache. A tb was inside, and we took it with us. After logging the way down was even so slippery that Jo* almost felt down and walked through the grass. Back in the car we read also the plaquette. The designer of the road could maybe had left out a lot of curves, to make it a bit easier

Another nice place to stop on our way to Broken Hill for the long weekend. It was a popular place to stop with 6 carloads of muggles all parked up for a picnic. Left Darth Vader Lego TB. TFTC.
Random stop here for a break - pulled out the Garmin and was pleased to see this cache nearby. Kind of looped in from the car park area for the find, and then took the mentioned path out. TFTC. SL
Zowaar! On the last day of our holiday, one more cache to be found, and found. Thx for the stop! Simone
Heading back home from a mini trip to the Coromandel, we decided to stop over for some caches on the way back, so my friend drove, and I'd yell now!
This one was the last one on our trip actually, and as we were pulling over next to it, we decided we were actually hungry... so we pulled out the gas cooker, and made our dinner here. A nice spot for it.
When going to find the cache, I was still wearing my jandals... not such a good idea given the weather had decided to start raining, and the ground up to the cache was not exactly the most sturdy.
Soon got to the most likely spot, and sure enough, there was the cache, staring right back at me through the first place I peeked in through! Yay!
Then, heading back, it was even harder not to slip, as the rain had gone for gold a lot more! (Luckily then by the time we turned the cooker on, it had stopped!)

Rest stop just as the car was playing up, smoke billowing out everywhere. So I left Darby to deal with that, while I found the track and located the cache. Nice to have a reason to stop. Read the plaque, always nice to find something new about a place. Car seemed ok to continue our journey. SL. TFTC.
Nice spot beside the road. Perfect place for an Jeep 4x4 travel bug. We took the coin so both trackables can see more from New Zealand.
Going on a bit of a tour around the Coromandel and area, taking the opportunity to pick up a few caches on the way. Read the plaque, always good to have a point of interest. Think we were right behind another cacher who was exiting the other way as we were going in....TFTC
Visibility less than 50 m in the misty clouds up here. Huge rest area that I had never stopped at before.
