1323. 2:29 pm. SH14 was closed and we had to detour North which provided the moment to finally stop for this geocache. The water had burst its bank below the bridge with the crazy rain on Saturday. Cache was filled with ants! Found with eKitten, GRAkiWi and Li0nPaw. TFT(high up)C.
That’s a long way down , it did cross my mind what would happen if someone accidentally dropped it. Nah it’s all good signed and put back safely
Very strange bridge, would love to know the reason behind why it was built? Perhaps a sanctuary for anyone that needs to walk the bridge? Or simply a viewing platform?
North Island Campervan trip Day 9
After the fantastic holiday I had a few months ago traveling around the South Island, making the most of one of those incredibly cheap campervan deals available at the time, I figured it was worth taking a week off work before the stresses of the usual holiday period to enjoy some of the delights to be found around the top of the North Island.
This would be a great chance for me to seek out some targeted caches such as the TMGT ones as well as some that would help me with my Jasmer grid, missing minutes (for a couple of challenge caches I'm working on) and any other caches that caught my eye.
Last night I was able to spend the night in a small DOC campsite right on the beach in Woolleys Bay. My main intention for today was to get up to Russell in the Bay of Islands. I haven't been there in over 30 years, and was really looking forward to being there again. After that I was simply going to start heading back south again.
The sun was shining today, making the driving all the more pleasurable.
Parking up as near to GZ as I could, there was no-one else around as I strolled towards this cache. It felt a bit strange walking along here, but I was beginning to enjoy the views on offer as I got closer to GZ. Once safely on the platform, it didn't take long to find the cache as there are only limited places it could be. This was not a time to be fumble-fingered as the retrieval of a dropped catch would be a bitch!
Once the log was signed, the whole lot was replaced exactly as found and I was on my way again. I can't believe that no-one else has given this cache a FP in over 12 years of being around!
Thanks for setting up this cache

In Titoki for a few days and took the opportunity to pick up a cache or two. This was a fun one. Weird little platform that I didn’t notice when I drove over the bridge. Nice easy pick up and no traffic while I was on the bridge. TFTC
Travelling some back roads today. Awesome bridge, of course I parked at the wrong end! A few strange looks from the locals but an easy find. Great spot, cache is looking good. TFTC
Quick find once I had walked along the bridge to GZ. Interesting spot. TFTC
Stopped here to sort out Zaras table. Its swinging around after braking a hook. But theres a cache here so have to bag it. Replaced log here. Cheers
Its day Two - Hamilton to Cape Reinga. An early 5.45 start just south of Hamilton with another big drive and The Cape in my vision. It was plain sailing through Auckland thankfully and we stopped just north of Auckland for a well earned break and some fresh bread at P&S.
Its another epic 4 week geocaching adventure with The Seagnoid, Zara and Toby to Northland. What an amazing place to explore. Lots of walks, gravel roads and sand. Lots of amazing trees, beaches and interesting POIs. Lots of kilometers traveled by vehicle and foot. Vehicle breakdowns. Snagged a couple of FTF's, lots of lonely caches and the odd event along the way. Lots of cache maintenance and replaced caches on this trip. But what an incredible adventure thanks to all the CO's who have made this trip so memorable..

Taybeedragon and I are travelling in a campervan, and the rough roads have dislodged the table. So we stopped to fix that and hey! there is a cache nearby! So we grabbed that as well. Log needed replacement, so in went a new log, florist's paper.
Day two of an awesome, tiring, long, four week holiday geocaching with Taybeedragon in the upper north. Spent the night just south of Auckland and are now heading for the very top. The whole trip comprised of hours of walking on sand, sliding down sand dunes, hundreds of kilometres of unsealed roads, car breakdowns, paddling out to islands, dolphins, goats, events, FTFs, weird boulders. You name it, we saw it. Lots of bisons, lots of cache maintenance, lots of sunscreen. A month is enough. I am glad to be back home. Except that now I have to write up my trip. We averaged just 20 caches per day, but that is still a lot of logging!

TFTC... a nice easy find with geodad Matini264 during Fonterra work do today.
Definitely not recommend for geocaching children as walking on this bridge amongst potential muggle vehicles pose hazardous.
The hint was very helpful as was only a few spots this could be. Lovely small community just up the hill. Always used to stop and get some takeaway treats on our way from Kaikohe to Whangarei (back roads)

After visiting my parents, overnight, north of Dargaville it is time to take the homeward bound road. But, I think I will go via Whangarei for a change. I passed this one crossing the bridge and decided to turn around and find the actual hide. I parked up and made the short walk to the bay. Not a lot of places it could be. Found in the second spot I checked after a short search. Cheers for the cache placement!
Used to live out this way in the 80s and sometimes launched the canoe down below here. Made my way out to the side platform and then waited for a milk tanker to cross, which seemed to shake the whole bridge. Once it was gone, started the search and actually put my hand on the cache in the very first place I tried.

Started my approach along the bridge and a logging truck came down the hill. I waited for that to cross the bridge first and then quickly onto the cache.
Just realised today (2/4/16) that I hadn't put this TB in my inventory so I'm just logging it's visit. Thanks again
My buddy told me where to find this and I was really worried about the dash to the gz and back. I didn't meet any vehicles going to the cache. One car passed as I was signing the log but I'd remained ducked down out of sight. Replaced cache and kept hidden as I had heard another car. Once it was gone I popped back up and ran back to my car with my heart still racing. Fun, thanks
A quick find with my son as we came home from a (unsuccessful) goat hunting expedition further north.
Had a bit of a double take as we approached GZ and at first could not see anywhere where the cache could be. Then we spotted something, so parked and made the run to GZ. Carefully extracted the cache, signed the log, carefully returned the cache, then another quick run back to the van. TFTC.
On my way back to Auckland (Monday) after a long Waitangi weekend. I was staying with 2 brothers, my work mates from Auckland who were visiting their mum this weekend, north of here, near Twin Bridges, one of them had to drop his daughter off at Whangerei last night, but I had to get going this morning and just as I pulled up here to look at the cache, Daniel, the one who had his daughter happened to see me here (while he was returning to his mothers) he came to an abrupt stop and we had a laugh about my caching. I had told him all about it over the weekend and now he was here, I said to him let's go find the cache, his very first, I spotted it after he did when we walked upon the bridge. So I said you can do the honours, so he carefully gathered the cache without dropping it and I opened it and showed him the LB, signed it and let him return it to its location. Then he carried on to his mothers and I carried on caching my way back to Auckland! Who knows, we might have a new recruit!
That was scarier than I first thought
Heaps of trucks crossing the bridge and the whole thing vibrates a lot. .. I had never been passed the school yet. .I usually stop there, do what I have to do (work) and then go back to Auckland. I was a bit early today so decided to try my chance. Tftc

The water reaches high levels around this site. Drop the cache... at your peril!
I did spend the night in Dargaville and decided to collect some more geocaches on my way back to Auckland. It was very impressive to see all those flooded rivers along the way. Happy that I made it back to Auckland without to many detours due to flooded roads. Stayed a while watching the river. TFTC
Out caching despite this entirely horrible weather we're having. We're not often up this way, so we're making the most of it.

This is my third and final day up north picking up a few caches in the more out of the way places along with some others on the way to there.
I remember coming to this bridge back in the '60s (65 or 66 - I can't remember which) to measure the flow while this river was in flood. I came here for four days in a row as the river was dropping very slowly and was still the full width of the bridge. Nice to come back and see the river between the banks.
Cheers for the cache.

Making our way back home after the Easter Break and decided to break up the journey with a few geocaches.
An interesting GZ! Secured the cache and then waited for passing muggles to leave so we could return to the car safely!

(919) A quick dash between cars and we had the cache in hand. Great view down from that point. TFTC
Had a huge day planned today to gather at least 50 caches which were at least 1km apart from the last, for part of the geo-licence series. We started out earlier with the first cache found just after sun rise, and the last log being signed about 15 hours and near 500kms later.
We had an epic time on this trip and saw some great places along the way, through an area we had both travelled through many a time but never stopped. Thanks for everyone who had placed a cache along our route so we could finally stop and see the sights.
#29. Very wet today as the heavens were opening on and off most of the day. Easy find.

CLOSE TO HEAVEN #97
Yip this bridge is a high one and, when the logging trucks are going over it, a scary one too.
Watchiing traffic either way I ran along to GZ and collected cache. It's all good condition still. Signed log and left my Number '97' then returned, just as carefully, to replace. Running back to the car (breathing heavy and fast) I realise I am very out of condition and need to do more geocaching I reckon.

Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.
We spent the weekend visiting family up in Whangarei and went for a bit of a drive around some of the back roads picking up a few caches. Felt it would be a bit risky walking along the bridge, so we did one drive along the bridge to narrow down the hiding spot, then drove back again to quickly drop off one member to find the cache, then back again to pick them up after they found the cache! An interesting hide, TFTC!

Stopped by the dead goats, what a smell. Pleased to have walk on bridge. Thanks
Out for a few caches with Flowernz and hubbies, a lovely Northland day. What a great bridge, luckily not too much traffic going past. soon had cache in hand and enjoyed the view.... TFTC
Our last find for the day - now off to 'The Office' for lunch
Yep - this cache is 'High' and should stay 'Dry' quite easily!! Would be worried if it got wet actually!!!
Bit spooky when traffic rumbles past - especially those logging trucks!!
The head and skin was still hanging on fence at end of bridge - eewwww yuk!!

Nice and easy find. Just next to it was a (i think) swine/pig lying. ahum..I mean only the skin and it's head..the rest was properly on a table hihi.
NZ11. Fortunately it was a quiet day on the road and I could get out to the spot without any problems. Not too many spots and it was all done. Thanks.

29-03 2nd find of the day at 09:44 and 1266th find in total.
A surprisingly high bridge and we loved visiting the areas where the cache was hidden (especially when the big trucks passed).
(''\(OoO)/'') Thanks Grobyc for the caching fun!

Nice walk to GZ, had a few vehicles pass us accompanied by strange looks. Nice quick find. TFTC
This was a straightforward find once we realised where it would be, but worrying for the cache owner, as Mrs W.E.K.A. has been known to drop such caches while trying to retrieve them, resulting in a distant splashing noise. TFTC
And there I was early in the morning ready to retrieve the cache when two ladies pulled up to ask me if I was ok as they thought I was going to jump off the bridge! I didn't want to explain what I was doing or they would think I was crazy and probably capable of jumping off the bridge. TFTC
Wasn't quite sure where I would go if two vechicles in opposing directions happened, but thankfully it didn't.

Nice easy find, went to the otherside of the bridge so had alonger walk to get to gz, TFTC
Found 8.30am on my travels. What a lovely place. Beauti quite morning with birds singing. Easy find
#55 taking the inland route and was amazed by the scale of this structure. parked at the end and walked on.
Drive past this one twice day, have never stopped to look over the side, was quite neat. We were hoping our log wouldn't say "Found It - dropped it over the side" ha
1.30pm. Taken a round about route to Dargaville so we can pick up three caches. This was an easy find. Thank you David and Noeline.
Definitely want to make sure you have good hold of the cache... tis a long way down!
Oh my! the logging trucks certainly make the bridge/road rumble!
Had to be nosy and noticed the markers down below. Wonder how high the water has been?

This was to be our first ever geocache. Had to learn how to use the GPS first, and drove 35 km when it should have been 6.5! Unfortunately, although we got to the bridge, we did not find the cache. Clue too cryptic for our simple minds as first-timers.

Another bridge theme cache for us today. Wait a minute, where's that cache, concrete isn’t ferrous, OH… there it is… many thanks for the hide.
