A quick find after a short climb up the hill. Hard to image this would have once been a lake full with marine life. Cache in great condition.
Enjoying the freedom of Murray sunset so much! Towing our caravan along pheenys east to west and exploring. The salt bush is amazing!
Tftc Doheng, made the find with no trouble as we were on our way to nearby oldie.Great views from here
Stopped on the track and walked up the small hill. Found the container broken but log dry. Walked back to car and replaced container. quick find. Out with Mogni for a 3 day weekend, leaving friday morning and coming back sunday night. The plan was to go to Cowangie in Victoria and then head in to Murray-Sunset National Park then head on to Mildura and come back via Rufus River road ( in New South Wales ) to South Australia. Night 1 was in the Murray-Sunset National Park at Mopoke Hut camp ground and Night 2 at Mildura then going back to Adelaide. It must have rained recently in Murray-Sunset since the sand wasn't like fine power as expected and other sections of the National park had bypass tracks around the water filled ruts in the main track. Going around one of the bypass tracks i staked a tyre on the friday but didn't notice it to saturday morning. The stake went right beside the tread and the inside wall of the tyre, the stake was the size of my finger tip. Also turns out that i got a screw in my rear tyre thrusday night leaving work. There was alot of reinflating tyres this trip. The flora change in the national park was surprising but i figured that is due to weather or not the ground was sandy or muddy. When we got to Mildura we targeted the 2 multi's mogni wanted to do and of course they were the ones with 7 and 11 stages. After that we targeted the caches with high amount of favourite points and then left the next day via New South Wales so we could get the virtual at Lake Victoria and some of the older 2003 around the border track. A good weekend away 4x4ing.
Sir_spectre and I decided we needed to get away for a few days, so off to Murray Sunset NP and Mildura we went. Not a huge number of caches were found, but we had a great time exploring the NP. We fixed anything we could. Thanks to doheng from mogni
Due to unforeseen circumstances Mr Smokey Bear will no longer be a part of Team Smokey Bear and will continue his adventures as "SmokeyBearOG".
So I'm relogging all previous finds under my new account.

Set up camp and decided to take a stroll around the lake. The area is looking very green with lots of wildflowers out at the moment.
Another cache find on our 2022 South Australian Adventure, and yes, we know we have wandered across the border. We've teamed up with FelixII, our main aim, a leisurely cruise on the Paddle Steamer. A great series all caches were found in good condition and without problem. Thanks doheng
Our thanks to the COs who have been Geo-tour guides for the last 5 months. But time is nigh, we will have to head West again soon.

Full time nomads visiting Mildura to finally tackle the Paddle Steamer with iluvtrekking. Way back in March 2020 we were on a cruise to Tasmania with iluvtrekking when Covid hit. They headed back to WA but we kept nomading about SA. Last month a plan was hatched to meet up again after we had been working at Mundi Mundi Bash at Broken Hill.
So now we are together again about to start cruising our way through the PS series. We set up camp outside the NP then headed in today to visit these couple of caches. A very interesting area that we probably would not have visited if not for Geocaching.

We shot down to this cache around 7am after the swags were rolled up and the coffee was downed. What a beautiful area.
This was found on part of an 8 EVENT MADNESS in 3 state trip with four-fun. We cached, we kept hydrated, labbed, swagged and we paddled. Most of all we met lots of people an made new friends.
Thanks to doheng and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet! [^]

We arrived at the Murray-Sunset NP for the evening event a bit early so we decided to do a quick trip out to Rocket Lake.
It was a fun adventure 4WD-ing on the sandy track.
The cars were parked and we had a short walk to the cache.
Thanks for placing & maintaining the cache for our enjoyment

With the new year we decided on a new destination to continue our holiday trip. Checking the weather forecast, we opened the map, our music playlist played "Follow the sun"... our next journey is north west Victoria. We started by discovering the Little desert then traveled across the magnificent Big desert enjoying the Milmed Rock track and finding the BIG dune. We finished our week by visiting the beautiful Murray sunset NP. We spent relaxing nights at very nice and quiet bush campsites and had so much fun on the 4wd tracks. We already want to come back for a new adventure, new discoveries and of course more geocaches!

Found on a trip from Adelaide to the Mildura area for a few days of caching with Team Waldron, Brisal5 and FeatherWaite. Our main targets were the Paddle Steamer and Turtle geoart series' but we also took the opportunity to seek out a few other caches along the way.
We were fortunate with the weather. After a burst of very hot days, we timed our trip nicely to coincide with the milder conditions before the next hot spell. That helped to make both the caching and the camping along the Murray River and in the Murray-Sunset National Park very pleasant.
We ended up finding all the caches that we had targeted. Most were in good order. Some of the puzzles were quite challenging and there were some very novel and entertaining multi's. Some certainly took a bit of finding and there were many very clever and/or tricky caches and containers that were a credit to the cache owners’ ingenuity.
It would have been good to have had another day or two to complete the remaining caches in the area, but I’m sure we’ll be back.
Thanks to all the cache owners for the hides.

Found during a trip from Adelaide to the Mildura area for a few days of caching with Brisal5, e.gregory1 and Team Waldron with the main aim to complete the Paddle Steamer and Turtle GeoArt series but also to find other caches along the way. We camped out on the banks of the Murray River near Mildura on the first night, at Rocket Lake campground in the Murray-Sunset National Park on the second night, then back to the banks of the Murray River near Merbein on the last night. We signed the logs as B.E.F.W. Thanks to all the cache owners for placing the cache!
***Generic Log unless something special above this line.***
I have seen a T shirt with Sleep Eat Cache Repeat [^] Well a four day trip to Mildura with caching friends Team Waldron, E.gregory and FeatherWaite certainly fit that bill. Logs were signed with initials only for the teams - BEFW
Up at daybreak, quick breakfast and cache all day stopping only to have a snack whilst out on the trails, rush to set up camp near dusk for a meal, then perhaps some night caching, early night and REPEAT!
Strategic camping at Kings Billabong, Rocket lake and The Common meant we were close by the Geoart and target night caches. Two previous trips in 2013 and 2016 by me and some by E.gregory meant we visited some (well quite a few actually) previous finds but that made it quick for the people that hadn't found them previously.
I can't thank the CO's of these caches enough as some were really very inventive. Even having solved most puzzles before we came we were confronted with field puzzles and gadgets that were just mind boggling. [:X][:X][:X]
***Thanks doheng for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. ***

We came up here for the new PS geoart series, and made our way to Rocket Lake via the Nowingi Line. We set up camp with The Tritonz and micaparamedic, before making our way to this cache. The sun was setting as we found this cache, so we were able to spend some time enjoying a beautiful Murray Sunset sunset and take lots of photos too. TFTC doheng.
Packed up camp from Mopoke camp ground and decided to head to the border via this cache. The camp ground here was busier than where I had just come from. Located the cache and continued the journey. Thanks Doheng for placing this cache.

Pleased to add another smile to the playing board. It is so lovely out here. Thanks for the cache and bringing us out here.
After attending the event this morning The_Tritonz, Geoturtle37, Posums, McLookers, Tomstache, Gemma Sistema, Micaparamedic and I set off for our adventure and exploration of this great area.
There had been rain recently so there were a number of substantial puddles that we thoroughly enjoyed.
GT37 was driving (as usual) and was the only one that managed to come to a halt . . . . twice . . . as she successfully drowned the distributor. It doesn't appreciate a good mud bath it seems.
Had a great time collecting smileys out here with a fantastic group of cachers.
Another nice quick find before we settle in for the evening.
The views from here are great and the cache was found quickly.
Thanks to all the CO's that marked our path of exploration.

The day kicked off with a geocaching event at Lake Crosbie then we set about having some 4WDing fun! We joined forces with The Tritonz, Papi4056, Geoturtle37, Posum, McLookers, Team Crackers and micaparamedic for a most excellent adventure! An easy find here - great views too. Many thanks for the cache.
We really enjoyed the walk to GZ and located the cache quickly. I wonder how long since there has been significant water in the lake? Thanks doheng.
Enjoying a brilliant day in the Murray Sunset National Park with The Tritonz, Team Crackers, micaparamedic, Papi4506, Geoturtle37, GemmaSistema and Posums. It was A great opportunity for the learner driver in our family to get some driving experience expertly helped by all of our caching buddies.

After attending the morning event at Lake Crosbie camp ground the intrepid group of Geocarchers headed off to explore the area of the Murray Sunset National Park and find a few caches along the way as we headed to our next destination for the night
The group included myself, The_Tritonz, Geoturtle37,Papi4506, micaparamedic, GemmaSistema, and McLookers who was brilliantly chauffeured along the tracks by Tom who did a great job in his first 4wd day out.
The Geovehicles got dirtier and dirtier as the day progressed after all of the rain they had up here during the week.
Nothing like following a new to 4wd driver who was having a ball driving through the mud and water being cheered on by all of us.
Not sure how mum was coping in the back seat at the time.
We have made it to our destination for the night and we had plenty of time to drive around the lake and find a few caches.
After finding the launch site we had to come and find the landing site.
After a walk up the steep dune we admired the views over the dry lake bed and soon added our names to the log.
Thanks doheng TFTC.

This was the ninth for us
After setting up camp at Rocket Lake for the up coming event a few of us wandered off to grab the nearby caches. After the recent rains and the way we came in the tracks today were definitely 4wd but happily this last drive was easier in comparison to some of the tracks we have been on today.
We parked safely off the track and took the short walk up the hill where the cache was found quickly and our names were added to the log.
Thanks doheng for the cache and for bringing us to this great spot.

Sitting at my computer during these Covid lockdowns, I am trying to catch up on a few logs that I haven't sent in yet.
Over the years, geocaching has taken me on many adventures, including interesting destinations all over my home continent of Australia and many overseas as well. It has also introduced me to a diverse group of like-minded caching tragics, many of whom I now call close friends.
Today, I was lucky enough to be out and about searching for caches, something I do on almost a daily basis. This was one cache that was targeted and found.
Sorry for the late log, something I am notorious for. Thank you for adding to the adventure that is geocaching.
Thanks doheng for the cache.

Enjoying our travels through the Murray-Sunset in the Landcruiser despite the heat and the very annoying flies we made our way north to Rocket Lake. We were surprised to see such a large arid lake here and one you could drive through the middle of but happy that there were 3 caches in the area to highlight this location. Having already found the launch pad it was now time to find the landing, which we did with a steep walk up to GZ. The views were amazing as we looked out over the dry lake bed with only vegetation showing instead of water!
Now to have a picnic lunch at the campground with the flies as company.
Thanks doheng for the placement.

Our aim today was to check out Rocket lake and the caches around it. We caught a glimpse of the ‘lake’ as we peaked one of the hills on the way in. Wow! What an amazing expanse of land! Our imaginations only run wild with what once was.... after a bit of a walk we made it to gz where the cache was quickly located and signed. What a good view! Thanks doheng!

Up nice any early this morning from camping nearby along the lake and after packing up our gear and before heading for our next night we made a quick stop on the way out and managed a nice quick find after a short walk. I had a spare sistema container on me that I used to house the log book from the weather but the size is now a small not a large. Still easy enough to locate! Thanks doheng for the hide and for giving us another reason to stop around this large but rather dry lake.
Found it on our trip around the lake. Container needs replacing! Sign wet log
Jnr found with ease and we have run out of container to replace this one but contents still dry

What an incredible, amazing and awesome day! [^][^]
While muggle partner and Mrs Moneydork stayed at the Moneydork residence, Moneydork and I left about 10am for a HUGE day of awesome, cool, fun and fantastic caching [^][^] arriving back at about midnight [)][)]
We'd left in humid and hot conditions and thoroughly enjoyed a kayak on the Murray to find 3 caches [^] Then we headed for a couple of Moneydork's 'haven't been able to find' caches and one of my 'haven't been able to find' caches, all of which were found Next was a massive drive through the Murray Sunset National Park and finally, for the grand finale (in my opinion anyway ) the last cache of the day for both of us was a FTF at about 22:32 [^]
Gradually the weather of the day had changed. On the way back to Berri, there was lightning all around us but none overhead, late at night the temperature rose from 28 to 30 degrees [?] and then the wind picked up....soon followed by torrential rain and the temperature suddenly dropping to 23 degrees Concluding the incredible day was the sight of frogs, hundreds of frogs, jumping all over the road near Loxton [?][?] It was as if it was raining frogs! That's something I don't think I've ever seen before!
Moneydork kindly stopped to allow me to find this cache as he'd found it ages ago
A quick find after a short walk in to GZ and the heat and flies were trying to give me a headache today, let alone trying to take a dip in Rocket Lake
Again, my apologies as we had no spare containers and this container really needs replacement as it's cracked all over
A larger cache hide in a fantastic spot, I sure hope someone helps you to maintain it as this, to me, is REAL geocaching! [^]

My mum used to do a week long ride through this park every year with the Melbourne Trail Riders Club, who still do this ride. I hadn't been here in 20 years, and after a lot of research and safety planning, undertook a solo expedition here by myself to retrace Mum's steps, who passed away a few years ago.
The lake here was bone dry, however still an impressive sight. A long and rough drive in too also, however well worth every minute.
Cache has turned brittle and broken, I used my replacement cache elsewhere earlier. Holding together Ok with the plastic bags. Cheers and thanks for placing this.

Headed in via the north - road was much sandier to the south on our way out
The cache needs maintenance - the container broken into brittle pieces of plastic. There was a spider living on the log book so we encouraged him to take up residence elsewhere - looked for what we had to perform emergency cache maintenance and it wasn't much - ended up wrapping the contents into two plastic bags and placing in what remains of the cache. Wish I had an ammo can or similar as this was a fun 4WD adventure to find - even if the lake it sadly bone dry. Tftc.

Wish I had an ammo can or similar as this was a fun 4WD adventure to find - even if the lake it sadly bone dry. Tftc.
Out geocaching for the day with my brother and sister in-law. They wanted to take a tour of the Murray-Sunset National Park with their new 4WD, unfortunately they are new technology philistines. They however did enjoy the hunt an fantastic day. TFTC
Easy find up on the dune.lid is A bit sun effected if someone reads this and can bring up a new box.
What a view! After finding the cache I stayed for a while to enjoy. TFTC!
Found this one with Jammo and Stackas. Great spot to visit. Left bushfire safety keytag and stickers. TFTC
I really enjoyed bumping my way across this park East to West. Picked up a TB I can help on it's goal.
Found while on a birdwatching weekend with some mates.
Dropped a TB to encourage some more visitors. Cache is in good nick.
Brilliant place.

Traveling around the NW of the state with the Haveanez clan to pick up maps needed for the Atlas challenge.
Enjoyed the drive down to this one, stopping at the gate to chat to a local who had been straightening the "badly designed" roo fence bordering the property. Must get a bit lonely out here, he was up for a chat about everything and was pretty excited to see the kids. Very helpful he was too giving us directions with some nicely drawn mud maps on the road.
Saw the massive expanse that would probably be a lake, as shallow as it were if it had water. Doesn't look like it has been full for a very long time. Some great views from Gz.
Had a quick chuck of the boomerang (or stick for some) before clambering in the Paj and off to the next one.
TNLN, TFTC in a beaut location. Cheers.

Day 2 on a road-trip to the north-west of Victoria with DazRascal to tick off a few more maps for the VIC Country Road Atlas Challenge cache.
We had all been looking forward to the drive through the National Park to this cache, and the other cache, Rocket Launch and we sure weren't dissapointed!
We had made out way through the dirt tracks, and ran into the farmer who lived nearby (a few kms away) and he was very happy to have a good chat with us and draw us a few "mud maps" of the area. Knew it like the back of his hand.
We continued on and made our way to the "Lake", it would be amazing to see this place full of water.
The Geokids had a great time here and walking up to the cache, or for the lucky one, a piggy back!
Daz pulled out the boomerang here and the kids also burnt some energy before moving onto Rocket Launch.
A great place for a cache doheng!!
Many thanks for bringing us out this way - a highlight of our weekend along with the sunset to follow as we headed back towards Swan Hill.
Cheers!

I camped close by so I used this as an excuse for a walk - nice area and jumping into the lake didn't end with a splash
Did this in conjuction with Rocket Launch. Very quiet area. Nice.
Then thirty trail bikes on a tour turned up. Oh well.

This is a superb location for a cache. The view is wonderful. When we came around 'the bend' and saw the 'lake' for the first time I was rapt at the vista. For me it was dramatic, evidence of what once must have been a lush wetland area. The cache was quickly to hand after a short trundle up the dune ridge and the cache is in excellent condition. We decided that nearby we would set up our camp, such was the delight in our location. With Dylan 7a. TNLN. Thank you to 'doheng' for placing the cache in such a fanatastic location.
Its great to find caches in these places. Exploring the park on our way through to SA, with the bonus of caches on the way. Thanks doheng.
Had to walk a fair distance due to a water damage to the track therefore returned to the car full of prickles. Still very enjoyable introduction to this part of the country.
Found while out for a tour on the bikes, not too much dust. Was actually spotted by a new caching convert. TNLN TFTC
Wednesday night I ring Doheng, "g'day we are coming through Mildura on Sunday arvo, got a bike I can ride?"
Doheng "I'll see what I can do"
What he can do is cook an awesome dinner and provide an excellent couch to crash out on and sleep like a log. There was a bed but I was to tired to make it.
Awaken to a brilliant bacon and egg breakfast with coffee and then provide a Honda Xr650 and himself and a mate as guide for a sunset country ride.
Doesn't get any better than that.
So after a short fuel stop we arrive at the Sunset country gate for some dirt bike and caching action
Managed to get out here with only a couple of little offs on the Honda XR650.
Bike got tired twice and needed a little lay down in the sand and then one in the mud. Poor thing.
Lucky Doheng was there to laugh at me and then pick me up.
Any way arrived at Rocket Lake and fanged around the outside to the area of the cache.
Oregon 300 was having a hissy fit and I was only able to get close by watching the map not the compass.
Even though I had the cache owner with me all the trees look the same but managed to stumble onto the cache.
So a day of good food and good company, with some awesome motorcycle tracks. Truth be told I am buggered by this point and still have 50ks to ride home. Phew.
Thanks to Doheng for a great ride and caching day.

Second for the day as we (How Do They Know? and geo-pal Are We There Yet!) drove across this huge park looking for little treasures. We found the cache quite easily and re-hid it as we found it. TFTC doheng. TNLNSL.
Easy find with "How Do They Know?". Impressive park, long distances. Tnlnsl. Tftc.
Found.. Unfortunately people have been driving off the tracks to get to this cache, which is very bad
Found at 1215 (but oh it could have been so so much later). After spending time with doheng the previous night and working out the best route to GZ, we continued on from 'Mallee Sunset' with blue skies ahead and a solid dirt track that was leading us towards GZ...........then the fun began. As we were cruising along, Rubik and I noticed that there were some slight wet patches in the track up ahead, and a moment later as we realised the condition of the road was much worse than it appeared, Rubik braked as we hit the mud and controlled the car beautifully and brought it to a safe landing.......albeit facing the opposite direction in which we came.
As it turned out, the 180 degree turn probably helped us in the end as it was only 150m back to solid track rather than kms of wet track now behind us. So, with a little bit of thought and effort, we were able to get ourselves out of trouble approx 15 mins later (see Rubik's pics). Back on the road again, and after going a little further west, we found a much better track in, and ultimately, to GZ. I must say, the area of lake was much bigger than I expected, and is a shame there's not a trace of water.
Thanks doheng for an interesting location. This is one cache I think I'll never forget.
