Today we have a few very special caches on the agenda. Some with lots of favorite points that made us curious and two "old caches" were successfully conquered. We also visited traditional caches, lab caches and a multi cache. A break on the beach, where we watched the fisherman on the pier and the children, rounded off a great day. Nice hide we give an Favoritenpoint. All Ownern many thanks and greetings from the Moorhelmi
Visited Huntsbury Heights while in the area. Left our calling card. cheersDay 2 - teamed up with Taybee NZ for the day caching around Christchurch , with ICUC on my radar.Zara, Toby and I are heading to the Dunedin Mega with some extra days along the way. Caught up with TaybeeNZ on 22 Oct for a day caching around Christchurch. Then made my way down to Waimati for the night. Arrived in Dunedin Thursday afternoon. Beautiful day Friday to cache around Port Chalmers. Mega Day was cold, wet and miserable and Sunday not much better. Sophia arrived on Sunday for a few days. Teamed up with TaybeeNZ for next three days touring the Catlains Monday, Stewart Island Tuesday and Milford Wednesday, then started making my way home, arriving Friday Morning.
I'm ditching dad again and heading down south for the Mega in Dunedin. During this trip I managed to do many things and meet many people over the 2 weeks I was away. Thanks to all the cache owners and other cachers for making this trip enjoyable.Day 2 of the trip. After spending the night with mum we teamed up together for the day. First was UC IC as last time mum was there it was down. Then we spent a few hours around the botanical gardens doing adlabs and caches. After that we headed up to the cabbage trees and then a few other caches. A nice quick find. TFTCAll log sheets on this trip were signed by any of the following:Taybee NZ,TBNZ,TNZ,TB/D (When I was out with mother)
This one was an instant find at GZ and I had a tool and a CIH before irondale could convince me otherwise that I couldnt put it back. Im sure I would have managed, but we sought the resourceful help of the very tall gentleman at the bus stop! He was happy to help. Probably thought we were crazy ladies. Hes right. Good to grab an oldie and a favourite.OCW irondaleWeather: overcast, windy, coolWeirdos seen: noneSheep spotted: lots of them- a sprinkling of sheeps all over the hillSnack situation: breakfast burrito and real fruit ice cream A+TFTC
Very hard to get if youre a short person.., a very fun but challenging find ! TFTC!
We have the 2001 cache further up the hill as our target for today, but good to get this oldie in passing. We arent vertically challenged so it posed no problem to us. TFTC
This was a fun cache to find. The rain stopped and we decided since it had so many favourite points we needed to find it. It took us awhile to replace it back in its hiding place but we got there in the end and that is where all the laughter happened. Another favourite given.FINALLY, and with humble apologies for being so late, I am catching up on my logging.Day 5 of The North Islanders in Canterbury tour with Liss Crew. We are targeting specific caches -oldies, and puzzles. Of course, there will be days of laughter.During our time here, all found caches were signed as NZL, regardless of whether either of us has found it previously, or with individual names for Challenge Caches according to whomever was claiming the find.Kia ora rawa atu for the cache Grandalf.
I'm from Paihia/Whangarei and I'm down in the South Island for 6 days with NZ_B on a geocaching trip.I had a few goals for the trip and I was very pleased to achieve them all *50 or 60 puzzles for my diamond badge on project gc*40 caches to get to my 6000th find*some South Island minutes for a challenge*but mostly a clean out of my ever growing solved puzzle list.Monday we collected the windmill geoart on our way to Oamaru. Tuesday the focus was solved A2O puzzles, the sunflowers and other solved puzzles. Wednesday we headed back to Christchurch collecting challenges and more solved puzzles. Thursday's focus was the Smile series around Lake Ellesmere. Today it's the old Port Hills cache and puzzles in the Christchurch area. We decided to get these hillside ones early on thinking if the weather turned bad we'd have them signed off. Turns out the day improved significantly in the afternoon but was rather wet and cold this morning when we did these caches. The rain had stopped and with lots of favourite points we decided to give this hide a go. It was a tad tricky and we had a lot of laughs here. We failed to be subtle here but there weren't many people around. Thanks for keeping this reasonably old cache going
Haha, nice one. Spotted the likely hiding place before the bus came to a complete stop. Had it in hand seconds later. Thanks for keeping this one going.
Cache 1423 Heading to Christchurch for a geocaching holiday this week where I’m targeting hidden days/months and a few D/T and to sign challenge caches. And as many virtuals as possible. This cache was a needed hidden month.
This one had me stumped for a bit I kept going and sitting on the bench reading logs in hope for a hint, there was one word in one log that gave me an idea yip that’s it, it was almost impossible for me to get but with a bit of kiwi ingenuity I nabbed it, putting it back was an even tougher challenge I’m pleased I can tick this one off the list. Cache is in good shape T4TC

I've come to ChCh for a few days to visit my teen who going to Uni here. Given teenagers/uni students don't get up before it pm I had some time to do my own activity. I searched the map for areas to go with either 'good numbers' or 'interesting location' that were also easy to get to by bus (Good Friday too). I was initially going to do the Bridal Path over near gondola then spotted this Mt Vernon area and the bus stop was right beside this high favourite cache with a path leading straight on to the Huntsburry Track up the hill.
I left the bus stop and entered the bush pathway near by then realised the cache was 'right there' I went in the bush, out again (by this time someone else was sitting at the bus stop) I knew it would be a clever hide from the favourite points. I wandered around unable to narrow the gps right down enough. I then spotted a commonly seen object that was grey with lots of earth/bark disturbed around it thinking surely that is it - BUT the house across the street had people in it that I could see and knew they could see me out the window, so I decided to head off - trying to keep my focus on my actual days goal - to get to the top of the walkway/hill and perhaps have another look on my return to the bus home. However I ended up exiting my adventure up the hill by taking a different track down and wasn't by this cache. I was super curious to know if what I spotted was the cache so on arrival home I researched the logs and now believe that what I saw and thought was the cache in fact highly likely was not. I'm sure that over the next few years of my teen being at Uni we will have many trips to CHCH and knowing this is right beside a bus stop it is almost certain that we will return to attempt to gain our smiley face here.

That was almost a dnf tonight. Was almost certain i had the spot but it had been muggled. Then one log gave me the one word that i needed
Heading up the hill to find a cabbage tree, I stopped of here on the way. After an initial look around. I thought why not.......................and there it was. TFTC
A nice quick find! It happened to be in the first place I looked! It's always nice to be the first name in a new log book! TFTC!
At last found it after 3rd attempt the more you find l guess you get better in searching them out a good hide
I scoped this out a while ago while getting other caches in the area.
Unfortunately I was lacking the necessary equipment to make a retrieval.
Came back today on a drive with my partner who assisted- a quick grab and into the nice, shady, rocky area to sign as it's hot out there today
A new log book soon would be good as the current is a bit worse for wear and hasn't much room left for signing.
Thanks for the cache,
Very sneaky indeed

After an extended lunch, and minimal daylight left, I searched 20+ favourites, and headed for the hills.
After walking briefly into bush, I walked back out, and thought "could it be"?
I easily grabbed, well done, worthy of another favourite.

Great cache, got some help with the challenge from someone passing by - thanks if you read this!
Down from Northland for a one week trip to Christchurch to pick up some solved puzzles, challenges, unusual cache types, Jasmer grid fillers, as well as a few others in passing.
Time for a few out west and south today and then returned to our accommodation to watch the Americas Cup racing. Once that was finished it was out the door again to get a nearby oldie and any others we could before dark.
I hadn't really planned on driving the rental cache mobile up this road, but the gate was open, so we headed on through with wheels spinning in the deep loose gravel. Once the oldie was accounted for, headed back down and stopped off for this one. After a minute or two surveying the area, I had a thought, but surely not...??? But yes, there it was. Felt a bit conspicuous to the late evening traffic whilst replacing it, but there really was no other way to do it. Gets a FP from me. TFTC

Team BOP on another crazy mission to the South Island. Lockdown gave us a lot of free time that we directed into Canterbury’s many Geo-Arts and with the Auckland 2020 Mega postponement, Christchurch was an easy decision. Team BOPs current incarnation is DavidsonClan, NZFlossy, McJandals and myself and we’ve signed all the logs as Team BOP to save time and log space.
So it's Labour Weekend 2020, it’s a numbers mission and on our last day we're having a wander around the Port Hills before we head to the airport. We have a lot of caches to choose from today and we're looking to spend some of our freshly acquired favourite points. This cache certainly earns one of those - we loved this one. This cache was found quickly and in good condition thanks to accurate coords, a straight forward placement and a good hint. Cheers Grandalf & TFTC

As Auckland Mega has been postponed we decided to do a trip south to Christchurch. Four of us from Team BOP joined up to share a car and accomodation. I always love these weekends as the company is great and makes our days and nights out caching lots of fun. We have done lots of puzzles in preparation and did some long windy roads to get them. Found lots of great caches and thanks to all the COs for the effort that goes into these Please excuse the copied logs and I will try to make some individual notes on as many as I can This sort of trip is where I find the cachly app very valuable. Last day down here. Enjoying the views as well as this very clever cache TFTC
With the Mega Covid cancelled this year a part of Team BoP decided to come south and try get all our solved puzzles, and some others along the way. So here we are today being our final day before heading back up North.
Cool cache. Took a seat nearby and quickly signed log. Fp.
I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. It’s just my way of keeping track, but I do genuinely thank each and every one of you cache owners for taking the time and energy to place these cache. Many Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers.

Out with busy paws and Geomum007 to do some walking on the hills and find some caches. This was a great hide so a fav from us. Thanks for the cache Grandalf.
Out for a few caches today with some other like minded individuals, I wouldn't have had a hope getting this one on my own as I'm vertically challenged, bit of teamwork was required. TFTC.
As per last log, the cache was indeed in the wrong location. Upon checking, I located the cache container, and its camouflage, and now all is back to how it once was.
Tftc. Think it might be worth checking it’s where it’s meant to be as no challenge I’m sure it’s meant to be somewhere else
I had previously DNFed this cache but as i got close with a few more years under my belt I knew exactly where this would be. Nice to turn the frown upside down. On my way past to a meeting which was timed to align with my lunch hour so I could grab some nearby caches. Thanks for the effort that goes into placing and maintaining a cache.
Container , logbook ... Going next...
Nice hide... And understood challenge!

A nice longish walk on a sunny Friday afternoon, from the bottom of the hill way up and then down again. I certainly had to use my magic powers here!! Luckily I train them daily again now that my finger has healed, and the vicinity provided a few options to use Great hide!!! TFTC!!
Today, mediconfire and I were driving in the area and I wanted to find this cache. Pulled up and immediately had a thought - is it? Yes! Found and easily replaced, glad I had someone to help me!
Well, I won’t say too much to give this away, but the co-ords were spot on, and the replacement was tougher than the retrieval.
That said, a good cache and a lot of fun working through the issues.
TFTC Grandalf.
Second day in Christchurch on an extended holiday. Caught up with both sisters and my niece in the morning, including some retail therapy, but with everyone else working I get a few hours to trundle around Christchurch in a random manner picking up caches.
Thanks to all the COs.

Today, Good Friday, we are spending the day at Port Hills. We are coming from Canadaand want to settle down in Christchurch. After only two weeks, one of us already had a promising job interview, so let's wait and see what happens next . Today's plan are hiking and geocaching... 10km and 10 caches, good day! After going around Sugarloaf, we made our way to Crater Rim trail, we then went down by Huntsbury reserve. The last few meters were very step, especially after having been outside for 6 hours and walking almost 10 km... But we made, and our bus was only 10 minutes after, so we took the time to find it. It helps a lot being tall for that one, both for retrieving and caching back... Container and logbook were in perfect condition. Thanks for ending our day and making our bus wait shorter!
Came past yesterday and knew exactly where the cache would be but was not able to match Huntsbury's Height.
Returned today with daughter in tow and working together we retrieved it.
TFTC and have a favourite for your creativity.

Out on a dog walk with my NZ niece in law, who clever girl, found and eventually managed to replace the cache. TFTC.
Descending from the mountains, the cover of darkness was there and helped. I found the hideout almost too quickly as the cache went into the bush. But I saw it, signed the log and placed it back.
Thank you for the cache!

Visiting New Zealand for three weeks. After hanging around Auckland for a few days it was time to head south! Early morning flight to Nelson, a walk in Abel Tasman National Park with camping in Torrent Bay, then back to Marahau and a ride to Kaikoura. A short ride to Christchurch, then two rainy days in Dunedin and Invercargill, before beautiful hiking in Queenstown, Wanaka and Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park. West Coast was tricky as expected but not too wet, then a rush to Picton to explore the North Island for a few days.
Thank you for the cache!

Last time there was a bus and it was raining, today it was a bus and sunshine... However we decided to go down the reserve first to wait for the bus to turn around and hunt for the cache. A nice reserve and enjoyed the walk. Also great camo for this cache, but a quick find after reading the title. TFTC

Found on a dog walk.
Was at this spot once before and I suspected that the cache could be at this spot but somehow I didn't check high enough. Received a hint from Jude_E the other night at an event and came back to get it now. First there was a bus at the bus stop so we walked on to find another cache. When we came back, the air was clear - yay! And there's even a pencil in the cache for people like us who had forgotten the pen.

I've guessed correctly where this was for over a year but kept forgetting to bring what I needed to access it. Today the equipment was in the car so stopped by. Starting to drizzle and 7.30pm on a Sunday night so was able to retrieve sign, add a plastic bag and return unseen. Thanks for the cache!
In Christchurch for the weekend with my partner and while she is doing a 2 day course I came up with her as it isvthe perfect time to log lots of caches and try to log 2000 before next year. TFTC
Second time visiting this cache, workman in the house next door the first time so couldn’t access. Glad to be able to retrieve this time, though had to wait for lots of muggles. Tftc
What a cool cache. Took a few minutes then I spotted it but how to retrieve? I found a convenient implement nearby so I used that, wrote in the log and wondered how on earth I was going to replace it. In the end I nabbed a couple of passersby and they very willingly helped - without even questioning what it was all about.... I heard an English accent from one of them so it must have been the inherent British reserve that prevented them from asking questions - to my advantage! TFTC
great cache. Someone had left something in it which attracted ants.....arrrrgh Im infested!!
Found this unsubmitted logReturning to the scene of a dnf this time on busses or builders. Nice quick find. Found using a Trackme NZ ????supplied Garmin 450 GPS.Thank you ?? for bringing me to this area Grandalf and for placing and maintaining Huntsbury Height (Canterbury) geocache from Mr Cuddly Brick Found on this awesome day, the 5th of July 2015.Cache number # 2592 #trackmeadventure #trackmenz #lostcrewFor socials searchMr Cuddly Bricks Geocaching Adventures Tracking ?? https://mytrack.co.nz/device/300434033661490.html
Second time trying for this one with no luck. Will have to bring reinforcements next time.
I could see the cache, but with builder muggles near by as well as a parked up bus, I couldn't get it to sign it to log it.... ok so ill be back and nab it then
After driving up to GZ, I spotted something that could be the cache and sure enough I was right!!!

As we arrived here we read the description and thought about the name. After a quick look in the obvious spots we realised that it wouldn't be hidden there. Mrs.Herbz then had an idea as Mr.Herbz went through some previous logs. A muggle came up the hill and sat down! Oh, now what do we do? Fortunately after a couple of minutes his lift arrived and he drove off. Quick...Mr.Herbz was employed and Mrs. Herbz idea was correct. Sneaky hide. TFTC.
Came to look for this last year and spotted a likely hide but was unable to retrieve. Back today with assistance from muggle partner who initially said no, it can't be there... but it was! Cache safe and sound, tftc!
Searched around the area for a while before we found the well hidden treasure. TFTC
Out with Clurbee for my last caching foray before returning to the UK. We knew right away where to look and after waiting for the right moment had a go. Mmm! Not so easy. Maybe try this way, no. Do we have a tool? Well sort of. Eventually we got it. I had so much fun, avoiding muggles and working out how to get the cache that I'm giving it a favourite point
With Bumbly2 all packed up and ready to head back to the UK there was only 1 thing left to do - go caching! This one had been on my radar for a while, but I suspected I wouldn't be able to achieve it on my own. Drove up to GZ just ahead of a bus and I think my parking might have had something to do with the bus doing a quick turn around and parking further down on the opposite side of the road. I just hope the driver was more interested in the paper than us as it was hard to be stealthy. As soon as we stopped I guessed the hidey hole but knew it would need a tool after all. A quick scout about and we had something to help us, but not enough. Went back to the van to see if there was anything in there that would do the trick. Luckily there was and a combination of the two and some juggling got us the cache. I never thought that I would need this particular item when geocaching but there you go - it did the job. Thanks for the challenge Grandalf.

We knew where this was immediately once we got to GZ. Thanks to someones handy tool that they left nearby the cache was quickly retrieved and signed. We thought we might have a little difficulty putting it back but the tool worked great the first time. A fav for the fun. Thanks for the cache
There was a bus parked up when we got here, went to get two other caches and came back, the bus was still there. We waited around a bit before it finally left. We figured out where it was pretty quickly and there was a handy tool nearby. Easily found and very clever hide. The hard part was getting it back in place again. Gets a favourite point from me. TFTC!
Jess.daphne and I wanted to grab this cache but we had to do a lot of waiting around before we could. A bus was parked right beside GZ, so we went and collected a couple of caches and came back only to find the bus was still there!
I spotted the hiding place straight away, but we had to wait for the bus to leave before we could sweep in and get it. That was the easy part, replacing it was the hard part. We got there eventually thanks to a bit of a team effort. Thanks for the fun hide!

Great view from up here and the calves are fully warmed up from the journey....
Spotted a potential hide but had to time the inspection carefully because of a reasonably high near by muggle factor. Extracted the container and moved away to perform signing duties before carefully timing the replacement of the container.
A good hide indeed.

Was out for a walk up Rapaki and down Huntsbury, but thiamine alone so I could take the time to 'stretch the calves' and check out the area. Wasn't the first idea i had but it turned out it was the second. Cool hide. Tftc

This took a couple of looks but suddenly you know! Came back at night, no way could Geo Jessie and I get this in daylight. A great cache, thanks.
Arrived to a muggle free gz but just as I got out of the car a bus stopped and wasn't in any hurry to move on. So geo-toddler and I went into the reserve looking for snow to play with. Headed back after about 10 minutes thinking that the bus would surely have moved on by now, but no! And there was also a couple of builders parked up next door overlooking the gz so I couldn't attempt a search. I did notice a likely spot though but I think I'll have to bring muggle partner next time for assistance.
Very tricky... Scrambled about looking for a few minutes before standing back and thinking where would I be if I was a cache and then there it was. Nice cache and worthy of a Fav point.
