Spending the weekend on Moreton Island with Beardman75, Peppa, Now-Tomorrow and wayn0 running amuck and seeing what this beautiful island has to offer. The parking was a bit iffy but we made a dash for it. Nice views from up here. Thanks for the cache chizhungiFind #6572

Davinells had a secret plan A weekend on Moreton Island in the still Chainsawless Pajero that required much consultation with the oracle that is Wayn0 With the promise of Glamping, the tides were read, charts & maps examined, and secret plans confirmed Coming across very early Saturday morning meant Venus was in alignment with Scorpio and we would experience all the joys of Moreton without having to float the car down the beach or at least thats what I heard but I wasnt party to all the secret planning, so Did I mention we got to Glamp!!!Although concerned the Chainsawless Pajero might not be there on our return, this was a pleasant enough walk up to the cacheThanks chizhungi

We are on a mission to Moreton Island to get Peppa a milestone with an apparently "secret" plan involving Davinells, wayn0, NTM, and myself. Was wary of the signs threatening prosecution at the suggested parking waypoint. Nice views though. Thanks chizhungi and happy caching

#6621.Considering the whole experience getting to this cache, this is probably my favorite for the year. This was our first cruise ship experience in Australia from Sydney to Moreton Island. The weather was perfect and we made the most of our time at the Tangalooma resort. After a great ATV adventure, we found the walking track that led to this cache. It was a beautiful and scenic walk with awesome views from gz. The cache was quickly found and the admin completed before returning for a delicious fish and chip lunch. Thanks for placing a cache here for us to find. FP awarded.

I am down under for the very first time. Visiting Australia has always been a dream of mine, and I cannot believe it has come true. Australia's nature and wildlife really captivated me. Over three weeks, I saw many wonderful beaches, sunsets, animals such as , and I found great geocaches. My tour guide was mostly geocaching, and through it, I discovered many beautiful places I wouldnt have seen without our great hobby. I mainly stayed in Brisbane but also visited other gorgeous places such as Noosa Heads and Springbrook. I spent a few days on the Gold Coast and Moreton Island, and I went to New South Wales to have visited a second state in Australia. During my stay, the winter and early spring in Queensland were very warm, the sun shone every single day, and I did not see a single drop of rain. My time down under was so beautiful and unforgettable. Australia is such a stunning country! Today I spent a day on Moreton Island. I really like this gorgeous island and I explored beautiful places. I also looked for a few geocaches like this one. At GZ I found the cache easily. After signing the log I put the container back as found. Thank you for this geocache says Mr. J. I'm at the same company kick-off as my colleague, the previous finder. I was encouraged by their find to make the effort to get out and find this cache. Took me a little while to work out access but once I was heading up the stairs it wasn't hard to find the cache. Great way to celebrate this visit and this place. TFTC, Biggles.

We went for a beautiful walk from our campsite up to this view, and while we were searching for the cache I took a call from a friend. My geobuddy made the find and as I made my way down to where she was signing the log I lost my footing, went sprawling down the hill, dropped my phone and lost it!!! I knew I should have had a brighter phone cover! It was found eventually and I signed the log. Pretty funny. TFTC

Out with the family for a day trip , enjoying beautiful Tangalooma .
After a busy day snorkelling and quad bike riding we had 30 minutes to spare before checking in to board the ferry
A quick look at the map had us 200 metres from GZ . Oh how I wish it also gave you the elevation lol .
We were never gonna be any closer to this one so up we went .
A quick match up the hill and we were suddenly gifted with the most amazing view . To be honest I forgot why we were here for a moment and just took in the scenery
Cache was soon found , log signed and off we went

Bribie, North Stradbroke, South Stradbroke, Fraser.. all these islands I've visited near Brisbane, but never (despite having lived here my entire life) have I set foot on Moreton. I knew when I came, there's some choice geocaches to be had, including this oldie. And many adventures to enjoy.

Ultimately, it was my want to see the shipwrecks that had me add 'Visit Tangalooma' on my 2022 goals list. But after writing it down, I decided to carpe diem, and booked a trip for just a few weeks away on 22 Dec. I saw on facebook that ruzzelz had found the geocache in a right state, so I was prepared to give it some love.

The tour I booked was fantastic. And first activity was snorkelling the wrecks. It's no secret I am not at all comfortable in the water, but the experience was overall extremely enjoyable. By the end I was wet, exhausted and not yet ready for lunch. So, I decided to embark on whatever walk to get to this geocache.

Largely, I followed my nose and came across the right track. I wondered if I would follow it to The Desert, but my priority was this geocache. Up the stairs I went and this became an issue. It was bloody hot out and depleting my energy fast. The panic and strenuous activity of snorkelling hadn't given me a head start!

Onwards and upwards, and once I'd reached the ridge, it was easy going. Still hot though. I arrived at GZ and dropped my bag to hunt for the geocache. It was a quick find - co-ordinates and hint matched up. Tucked in there though was a very sorry geocache. A pint glass and decrepit baggy held the remains of the geocache. I pulled it all out and sat back up the top of the hill.

Commence Operation Geocache Fix! Firstly, I pulled out my wet swimmers and hung them over a branch. The hot breeze should prevent backpack drippings! I then sorted through the geocache contents. Nearly all paper except two logbooks was munched by termites or welded shut with moisture. I'd packed a replacement container - a sistema is the biggest I could fit, so that's what it got.

All the good bits (plus some unactivated travel bugs) got added to the new container and placed back where found, held in with some sturdy sticks to prevent rollaways. And with a few photos and more appreciation of the area (plus dry boardshorts!) I headed back to the resort, and via a bin to drop the gross geocache content remains into.

I love an old geocache that takes you someplace special. Despite a busy resort and tours, I had this area to myself. And it was the first find of a mate - which is cool. This geocache is all fixed up now and I am very glad to have finally found it, and visited the island. I will absolutely be back. Thank you for this geocache, chizhungi Smile

Visited this location and found cache contents in place ( log books and other information) but no cache container.

The area has been subject to a controlled burn this fire season. Even the cache contents were visible from above so perhaps a walker has taken the container but kindly left the contents behind.

I did not have any type of container with me so have hidden the cache contents back in the location ( base of gum tree) and covered them with some vegetation.

After 3 score years and more i finally made it to this gem of an Island just off Brisbane. What a magic place this is ( and we were here on a rainy wind blown day). i cannot wait to get back here in the future.

We were only on a day trip and with some planned activities this was the only cache I managed to collect for the outing. Note sure why people are having issues find the way to the cache GZ as the walking tracks are clearly shown on the maps available on the Geocaching Aap.

Unfortunately the cache itself seems to have been taken ( it seems that happens to ammo tins). However the cache contents, including log book were still all at GZ tucked away in the location descried in the hints.

I did not have a replacement container so hopefully a future finder can provide a little TLC to the cache.

Broke a thong on the way up (the shoe, not the underwear!) but had the cache in hand easily. We think it was put back in the wrong place, as the clue made no sense. The right place was easily spotted, so we returned it there. Seemed fitting for the difficulty rating. TFTC! Cache 2 on our holiday to Moreton Island

9/8/20 Find #4003
Our time on Moreton was quickly coming to an end. We have had an absolute blast traversing the island this weekend.
However now we just had two more caches to complete before heading back home on the barge.
We weren’t sure of where the best place for three 4wds to park was, and with Pprime pulling into one spot near the stairs, we decided to see if we could keep it clear for vehicles trying to pass and see if there was any other parking option further down.
Well that didn’t really go to plan, and we soon found ourselves heading back to the other pull-to spaces and parking. Crew153 and Just A Trifle had already headed on up, and Radnoski and I made our way over to catch up to them. But first, those stairs!
With them conquered, we met the other two at GZ and quickly made our find.
Much contraband was removed from the cache and log signed, before we hastily made our way back to the awaiting convoy to head down along the beach for our final cache.
Thanks for the cache chizhungi.

09-Aug-20
It was not convenient for all three cars to pull up close to the entry point so Radnoski, JAT, 1MinniMoo and I were dropped off and took the climb up the staircase to find the cache.

Radnoski retrieved the cache and we sorted out some of the inappropriate swaps in the cache.

Well this one nearly killed us!! Lol
Docked in port on our Carnival Splendor cruise from Singapore to Sydney, K8tybee and I enjoyed a tour of the island up to the northern lighthouse and crystal pools. Back at Tangaloma with a little time to spare before the last boat out to the cruise, we thought we had time to dash up the hill for our first Moreton Island find.

And well.. we probably did.. but... we took a wrong turn climbing the wrong set of stairs, in the misguiding hope that they would connect up to where we wanted to be. Unfortunately, this was not the case; Still 120meters away with no clear path. Sooo we backtracked back to the main road and took the other walking track path.

This time we were right, but had to race up the hill as time was quickly running out. Soo hot!

Thankfully we made a NFF and soon had the cache was in hand. Puffing and panting, covered in sweat and sand we raced back down to join the queue just in time for the last loading of the boats!! Phew!

This will certainly be a memorable cache! Thanks for the adventure.

We came all the way from Germany to pick up our son, who spent the last six month in the Noosa area as an exchange student, and discover this beautiful country. Obviously, a beautiful Country also has some very cool geocaches....

Today, Moreton Island was on the programme! We took the early ferry, which today was 6a.m. Instead of 7 am. Stand up @4:54, jetty at 5:30 and off we go. First we Started the hike south along the beach And Thema climbed up to the Desert. We just hiked to the fringe of it - too hot for the whole walk.... on our way back through the beautiful woods we discovered also the second cache today.

Thanks for the Cache from Mojolucani

Quick and easy find. We parked the jetski near the logs in the water and then followed a road for a short distance. We then Bush bashed up the hill and found another track which lead us to the cache.

26-May-19
Dora the Explorer! and I had a day out on a jet ski as the weather was predicted to be calm.

After completing the cache "False Hope" we brought the jet ski down past the resort and parked near the logs in the water. We followed the road at the back of the resort and then a track and then bush bashed to the top of the hill where we found a nice track that took us to GZ.

After arriving at GZ, it was not too long before the cache was in hand.

Took two trackables from this cache and will move to another cache soon.
