Thanks for the find. Worked this out ages ago and finally found it today, a little hard to reach but I got it
I was inNew Plymouth 6 weeks ago and I worked out the real coordinates for this one. I had a quick look for it but we ran out of time so I had to leave it. Today I messaged the CO to ensure that I really did have the correct coordinates and then went to look for it. I found the hint somewhat obscure but we worked it out and found the cache! Thanks for setting this one up
Thanks for the find! Didn't sign it as I couldn't reach it but took a photo of it
Weekend getaway succesfull! And Mt Taranaki showed himself a few times. Beautiful area!Tftc
A second attempt led us to success! Was a bloody mission but lots of fun!
Forgot a pen sorry!

Enjoyed the walk thru this park ( in conjuction withe Ad Lab) and amazed at the age and size of the trees. Thank you for the placement.
we are not the biggest fans of multi caches, but while in area lets have a look.worked through things and found cache.trees have grown in area and land mark little harder to see.TFTC

With ABCDF4, eyespyben, and Gap (of Fap and Gap)... A planned expedition into the Taranaki region. All logs were signed with our individual handles, or Team HRP (Huntly, Rotorua, Papamoa) depending on who accessed the logbook first...
King's Birthday Monday: Almost at our time limit, we had to decide between the AdLab or a few more caches. We chose the later and soldiered on with this 2-step multi. There were some fascinating big trees in this space. We tried to apply the hint, but a lot of growth has blurred the hint line. Still, we managed to make our way to the final. Thanks SouthernAugers + Juty Bug. TFTC.

TFTC, my first multi with some awesome friends. The bush has definitely overgrown so makes it difficult to see the dormers but can still see the house. Awesome cache
Dnf on my 6 weeks holiday. Quick check of a stump where GPS sent me resulted in a fast run back to join my partner.
Worked out the co-ords a year ago with the kids I was looking after, finally came to find it today, first cache in 60 odd days, due to Rheumatoid Arthritis, so I will no doubt suffer the next day
Had gathered the info in a previous visit and did look for the final once before. But with the dog with me it was hard then. Today went straight to the cache! Thanks for a very enjoyable wander. Tftc
We solved this and had coordinates that looked good. But at GZ, gps was pretty much off. We found a natural and human built version of the hint object, but couldn't line up anything. This will remain a DNF for us at the moment.
Thought I had it wrong as failed to see any windows. Need a hedge trimmer and long arms.
Was down this way for a westie event on the park and whilst gorby, jags, merlot took off to find this cache, we were more leisurely (19/8/17)
So this was another of those must find caches, so here I am wondering around. Missed it on the first pass, but eventually it revealed itself and the log was being signed.
Thanks for the hide

We came for the Festival of Lights, but as it was still too early we explored the park and managed to find this cache relatively easily.
We soon found the tree and its information board, and headed off to the cache, where the precise hint made for a fairly quick find, although we suspect shorter people could have a problem. TFTC
Had to use the torch on the phone for this one. Fairly convinced we were in the right spot this t-rex reached in and just felt it with her finger tips. Was well hidden with leaf litter.
Had a good hunt around, rechecked my numbers and still no luck. A great spot, would have been better with a yellow smile face.
Exploring some new parts of Pukekura Park this afternoon - the chimney of the King homestead (yes, more Taranaki War history), the puriri, the gingko and the zoo. So photos at the massive puriri before a quick find at the to-die-for final hide site. (Admittedly, Mrs D did haver a bit before actually doing the retrieve!) Nice theming!
Found this one with Juliusfamily. Logging now as I have my own account. Soso really wanted to play at playground but the best we got was the bowl stage. Yummy sushi dinner though.

Today we were going to get a WOF for Grandma's car but the battery was flat so since we were in town what to do. Geo cache of course, but which one. First one we picked had too many muggles about and Soso wanted one at a park with a play ground. Unfortunately the zoo playground was already closed by the time we'd finished but we got this cache with ease. then it was off to find some dinner and although it's now dark they are still asking to go to a playground. TFTC
We had a LONG walk around Pukekura Park yesterday and it was getting quite late by the time we got to the top end to see the giant puriri tree. I hadn't really taken in that there was a multicache to find based on this tree until I glanced at the Garmin to see which way to go for the park exit. So, we spent a few minutes working out the co-ordinates from the info by the tree, plugged them into the Garmin and discovered we'd have to backtrack. It was quite chilly by then and we'd still got some way to go to walk to Huatoki Domain where Barnaby was parked, so Mrs B suggested we left it for the next morning. Fair enough, the cache wouldn't be going anywhere overnight .
So this morning we parked Barnaby close to the park entrance and walked to GZ. We did take a bit of a detour though: we'd missed visiting the zoo yesterday, so did that first. Finally got to GZ though. Garmin was bouncing about a bit, but as it started to settle down Mrs B pointed to a likely looking hiding spot and, sure enough, when I peered in, there was the cache. No muggles about either. I was amused to see the log container: I've used over a dozen of those as cache containers in the past, when they were available. Not perfectly waterproof though. Even with this one being inside an outer container the log book is still a bit damp, but it was OK to write on. Retrieved a TB while I was at it, returned the cache to its hiding place and then we headed back to Barnaby for the next adventure.
Thanks SouthernAugurs +Juty bug for this nice multi.

Great wee multi cache visiting the giants of the forest. Did not like the location of the final hiding spot though!! *Cringe- creepy crawlies*
Took quite a while with this one. Walking up and down a track, GPS jumping from 0 to 10 meters without even moving. Had to consult the internet to try to figure out the window reference but eventually got there. Looking over my left shoulder was sometimes a glance to the right, but that was down to which direction one came from when standing in the middle of the track.
Great seeing some of these old trees. Thanks for bringing is here. Got to final GZ and had a little look but couldn't find. After walking further down the track and then returning to the location, we found it with the aid of the hint Picked up a TB. TFTC.
Well its always a good day when you can turn a sad face into a smiley face. This one had been on my radar for awhile and I had searched for it a couple of times previously, today I was in Pukekura Park having some time out from study and so I made my way here and I am so pleased I did. As I was walking here, I stopped and just listened to all the bird calls, absolute bliss. I couldn't et good GPS coverage under the trees so widened by search, pretty sure I searched here last time. Really hope the tree at the posted co-ordinates is able to withstand the massive hole that is developing in its trunk. Dropped off travel bug that has been with me for awhile now, and this find makes number 999, countdown is on to my event next weekend to find my 1000th:)
I'm from Norway, travelling around New Zealand for almost 2 months, using geocaching as my tourguide. Today I spent the day in New Plymouth finding lots of good caches. I was in the Brooklands park and saw the animals in the zoo, took a walk at the beach, saw the nice bridge, climbed the Paritutu Rock, saw some sea-lions and finished off the day watching the beautiful lights in the park. Yeah, I also bumped into Lionfish when I was looking for a geocache there, what a lovely surprise to meet some fellow cachers and have a chat. I absolutely love New Plymouth, unfortunately I could only spend one day here, as I have to hurry over to Tongariro and do the crossing while the weather is good.
About this cache:
There are not many multi-caches where I live, so I'm always looking for quick and easy multis when I'm travelling. This one didn't look too easy reading the logs, but I was eager to do a hike in the garden, so it was perfect. The questions were easy, but somehow I managed to miscalculate 2 times before I got a descent set of coordinates. A nice little stroll over to gz. The search took me forever and I was about to give up when I finally found it. Thank you for a nice multi

Found with Team Westies (Merlot58, RustyNZ, Rebel98 and Gorby) after attending an event in the park. The rain had stopped, so we set off to find caches in the park. We made the necessary calculations and headed off to the final stage. We followed directions from the hint and were soon rewarded with the cache. Thanks for bringing us to this lovely part of the park.
I was visiting New Plymouth with a few other Westies from Auckland. The rain had cleared so we made our way to this end of the park and after making the calculations we reached gz where thanks to the hint we made a nice quick find. Signed as Team Westies
In New Plymouth today, our 2nd day of 3 days of adventure with myself, rustynz, Rebel98, Jag50 and merlot58 calling ourselves Team Westies. We gleaned the info, climbed down the muddy stairs and up more mud, where are my bloody gumboots? We're supposed to be only doing park n' grabs.. never mind, love the Ginkgo tree, cache found pretty quickly.

Another smiley face in my favourite park! Had a picnic on top off the hill then set off to do this multi. Learnt some interesting facts about some giants, did our calculations and set off for the final. Found a new path to incorporate into my 6km walks I do in this park. Track to final real muddy but we made it. Stopped and looked between the pungas and my 6yr old said 'I bet it's in there' She was right and has learnt great Geosense! Cache all good, and dry. TFTM
We had to revise our calculations twice before we got a descent set of coords. Then we had to think carefully about hint and get out the torch to be sure. It was very dark and dense here because daytime was coming to an end. We were thrilled with the find! Hint was cleverly written and helped us heaps. Cache damp, due to cover not on, so we were careful to place this back on properly for the winter. F/p
We had to recalculate this one, some amazing giants and a great park nice multi tftc.
Came here today to especially get this multi cache we weren't sure if we had the workings out correct, but gave it a try anyway when we got to the area we weren't confident we had it correct looked at the hint and widened our search a little, a lovely spot for a cache no muggles at all today so gave us plenty of time to look for the cache. then yes finally we found the cache safely hidden. cache is all good here we signed the log and placed it back where we found it. Thank you for placing a multi cache here gave us another opportunity to visit the area and explore another part of the park. Gets a favorite point from us TFTMC
I needed a walk, and wanted to check out the Festival of Lights and to get my first multicache. I also wanted the TB in my possession to visit a nearby cache. All went well. I enjoyed the hunt for the cache, which took me on pathways I hadn't previously been on. TFTC.
Today was day two of a four day ‘camp’ I have been fortunate enough to lead and organize for the ‘SJCgeocamp’ group. The SJCgeocamp group consisted of ten motivated fourteen-year-old boys who had chosen to join me and another adult for a trip to New Plymouth to experience Geocaching for the first time during their school camp week. I really enjoyed researching the trip which consisted of a variety of geocache types, sizes and difficulties in a variety of locations, some more challenging to get to than others. We were after quality rather than quantity and mostly visited geocaches with a high numbers of favorites and by CO’s with good reputations for providing unique hides. Thanks to all the cache owners, the boys had a great time.
We enjoyed exploring Pukekura park and Brooklands and the interesting spots along the way. The other teacher and I did the maths and the boys loaded the final waypoint and navigated us to GZ. It took us along time to find the final which was actually in the first place I looked-but obviously not hard enough.

Worked out the co-ordinates with a little help from a previous log after our first calculation had us 1.4km away. Followed the directions and after working up a little courage reached in and grabbed it. Log is mush so left some of my notepad in a new bag to replace it.
I am staying in New Plymouth with my sister on a trip from Australia for a week before heading up to the mega event, so taking the opportunity to grab some caches in the area. Today I was down here where after a dismal start to the day things just kept improving with the weather and by now the sun was shining and it was a beautiful day.
This is the sort of multi I really enjoy doing with a nice walk that makes you think you are miles from suburbia. Found the first point quickly enough and gathered the required information. I think I got the results correct as I ended up on a track in a logical place, but unluckily couldn't come up with the goods. I am sure it is still there and it is just my unfamiliarity with the local vegetation and hides that mean I missed out this time. It was nice and slippery up the bank looking. Thanks SouthernAugurs.

used a lovely park bench (in memory of a friends beautiful twins) to sit on work this one out. Multi caches are becoming my favourites. Thanks for your effort in making this cache.
First multi! Great wee spot we hadn't been before and a fantastic hiding spot for the cache! Nice work, thanks!
Solved puzzle easily. Couldn't really understand the hint. Got there in the end. Our first multi with JayDubENT. Thanks!
First Multi for Casey22001 and I. Took awhile to find but we were in the right place. Log is really damp. Tftc!
What a gorgeous place to explore/ so many birds singing and flying about. The nearby ginkgo does not stink like our one at home. TFTC
Good Bush walk he to go about it the long way as had my daughter in her pushchair log is very wet but awesome cache and stop at the zoo for a play TFTC
If you find yourself at the Egmont Eco Lodge you have answered the wrong century! To the elderly couple that turned up today. We were not there but your rudeness was unwelcome and unwarranted!
Found it after initially going to the wrong location. Lovely place and great hide
Dnf today I had 2 attempts at looking today. I wasn't sure what a dormer window was but after looking it up I'm sure I was on the right track with the hints and still no find. I'll look another day.
Couldn't locate this today as rain was starting to set in. I also need to rethink some of my answers I think
Once we got our Coordinates right... was a easy find. Enjoyed working out the coordinates .
Well this one had me confused for awhile until Mrs GC corrected my mistakes on coords. Nice stroll but forgot the insect repellent and sand flys were out in force. Once at GZ again Mrs GC came up with the goods. 2 logs inside container, 1 loose leaf paper and 1 original log. Both were wet and didn't have much time to sit in sun and dry unfortunately. Replaced original log (one I signed) into a new zip lock but would suggest a little cache maintenance by CO if possible. Tftc
On our walk through the park we also visited this multi cache. On WP 1 we found th giant and soon had all the letters and solutions together and went to the final. Unfortunatly we had no idea about the clue nd it was a veery long search. We already wanted to give up until i tried a last attempt and indeed i found the nice hide and the container inside, bad GPS.
TFTC!
TFTC!
well 2 things we learned today, how a century works, and what a dormer is, ended up 1.4 km away, but the person who runs the place we ended up at is a budding geocacher, she was so excited that a cache was at her location, but after some internet surfing we ended up back on track, thank you for the good walk through the park, TFTC
Visiting New Zealand for the mega and I headed up this way to visit friends here in New Plymouth. They were working and so I went for a long walk of caching. Glad for the hint since my gps was pointing elsewhere. Cheers for the cache!
My last day in New Plymouth and getting this was one of my priorities as I'd already got the co-ords previously, saw the likely hiding spot but had to go long way round as it was quite slippery. Nice cache!
Found after ages hunting! We spent most of our time looking about 5 meters away from where it was eventually found. Just needed to pay more attention to the detail in the hints. Tftc!
#6402. Nice walk in Brooklands Park among the giants this morning. The initial waypoint was very popular, but no one else was at the final GZ. Quick find. Nice hide. The cache was in good condition, but unfortunately Geocaching HQ Tag was not in it. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log. Thanks for the cache.
Spent the day in the park with friends and all the kids doing all the caches here. Great fun.
Went back and left some note paper in a new bag. Suggest bring your own pen until maintenance done
An interesting multi in a lovely park we visited while on holiday. Couldn't find the cache from one direction so tried another way and got it. Thanks
the bag is well meant, dear owner, yet still the log is all wet. meanwhile we have the impression that this is a standard condition in nz) - we would have changed it, but had nothing with us. sorry. sfabrikg and me took out the 3 tb's to take them with us once around the world. thanks.
A well-hidden cache full of goodies, hidden in one of my favourite places among the great and elegant giants of Pukekura Park. Retrieved Budro's Army coin for further journeys.
