Our last day in Mission Beach so looked for the caches around here. The first rainforest section we stopped at a cassowary and her chick walked around less than 2 metres in front of us for about 10 mins. Things like this is what makes caching such a great pastime. (We didn’t find the cache!!! - but who cares!!).
This is where we saw the cassowaries. Awesome. Looked for ages for the cache afterwards with no luck. Thanks Spud Clan for bringing us here though.

Out on a local wander this morning.
Found with a newbie. Green is a very grand colour, a shame that he had to fall.

1MinnieMoo and I were on our way to Mission Beach when we decided to pull up for this one.
We pulled up and made our way into the nice area. 1MinnieMoo was off in the bush for some reason. Meanwhile I found the cache (quite visible) in a more accessible spot. We signed the log and re-hid the cache a little better. TFTC Spud Clan

21/10/21 Find #5109
Day 13 of our road trip adventures. Fangsoki and I checked out of Atherton early to make our way towards Mission Beach with the obligatory stops along the way.
Having grabbed the cache just down the road from here, this one was e next nice old cache on our list.
We wandered in, and no sooner were we through the gate than Fangsoki made the quick find here.
Thanks for the cache Spud Clan.

Found it… bout all wet so wasn’t able to write…next time will have to bring more paper and new bag
Heading to Mission Beach and Undara for a few days and looking to clear out the few remaining caches from home to there.
Quick stop here. Container and contents have seen better days but the log managed to take my ink.
Thanks Spud Clan for creating and placing this for us to enjoy.

Found with our friends sweet@figures. Great drive and cool area. Thanks for hiding and giving us the opportunity to explore.
Good spot. The uninitiated saw it first. The mozzies are rather thick though. Tried to find this one many years ago but looked in the wrong direction. Still a newby to geocaching but having lots of fun with Liz and Bruce.
Still penless but going strong. 2 from 2 today. Have spotted 3 big birds since being here. There’s not many hides around here or Tully so I’m very thankful for the find. Took the trackable with me and left a little something. The people in and around a Mission have been so bloody friendly. If I lived in a beautiful spot like this I probably would be smiling all damn day too lol.
TFTC a good description made for a good find. Signed and returned and left a little alien traveller.
Checked one tree and then the right one was found. Thanks for bring us here. TFTC Spud Clan.
Checked the older of the trees but spotted the obvious when i circled around. Beautiful area. Thanks for the hide-a-way
As we passed the gate a cassowary crossed the track near GZ, after watching for a while the cache was soon found

Wet. It’s there but too wet to sign. Needs some tlc & waterproof container.
Had nothing with me to replace it

Kids went geoing with their Auntie to find this one it was her first find, I think we have turned a muggle into a geocacher.
Quick park and grab. Very wet jar but dry log book. Looked like a great track for biking! TFTC
Hopefully I found the right one. I found a glass jar just after the gates as walkers are now allowed in there. Log paper was very wet,I’ve put a dry piece of paper inside a little black container inside the plastic bag with the original log. Hopefully that will help it stay dry in this very wet rainforest. A quick find after heading to the reef with Mission Beach Dive! Fantastic day enjoying the fish and coral and now a cache. TFTC
Eleventh day in Australia.
A day in Mission Beach. First we went to see the cassowaries at Licuala's Place, but there were none, then we drove to Southern Mission Beach, no caches, but a cassowary and its chick, that blocked the Kennedy trail and didn't go away, then a drive to the Northern part. 6 out of 8 caches is good value.

A really lovely location, well worth a cache.
Thanks,

While waiting a while for a muggle at a nearby cache to go away,
I headed up here to find the hide a way
Nobody about when I arrived,
so I could poke around and be poked back for a while
Speaking of wait a while,
one got me real good when I wasn't looking,
and blood was drawn !! [:o]
Lots of blood was drawn !!
A brief pause in the search while I headed back to the geomobile for some paper towel to mop up the mess
Still clutching the paper towel,
I resumed me search.
Keeping well away from that pesky plant
'Bout then I spied the obvious place.
No need to battle the plants here after all
I quickly grabbed the cache.
Logbook signed,
I was putting it back when I noticed a hitchhiker inching its way up me boot !! [:o]
"OH no you don't !!
I've lost enough blood for one day."
So what's worse ??
Wait a while, or leeches
Both !!

My hands were so wet that I was unable to get the lid off this cache. Muggle husband refused to get out of the car to help because it was “pissing down too hard”. So I took a photo. Hope to come back on a nicer day and do the walk.
A geofriend came with me on this one. I didn't see the easy way to get to it, so went bush. It was relatively easy, except for the lawyer vine (it never lets you go!). The geo-friend bailed, but wandered along when I found the 6 lane highway. TFTC
Was a quick find but still eaten by the mozzies when covered in insect repellant. Tftc
Nice hide place but millions for mozzies and got it signed and returned same place TFTC
We attempted this on a rather wet day so the log book was a tad damp but we still managed to sign it.
Mission Beach wandering became a caching dash in tropical rain. Cache could do with some tlc. TFTC
A bit confusing...still inside the gate but walkers can still enter. Good find..love the forest.
Staying at Pandanus in Mission Beach. Made stop here after picking up a few in the Bingle Bay area. TFTC
Taking a drive to Mission Beach from our camp at Kurramine Beach and hoping to do all the caches on the way. Nice quick find just a short stroll in. Tftc
On our Mission Beach Holiday last day we did a morning cache. Loxated the cache but log was badly waterlogged. Replaced log and put in a clip log bag. Also dropped a coin from “Northern Transit” near Townsville. TFTC
On a vacation and drive from Cairns to Brisbane. A short sidestep to see Mission Beach and a cache was found. TFTC.

... with our trip we've finaly fullfilled the surrounding of australia (ok, we took a shortcut: the topend of york peninsular is missing). it's still a fascinating continent and we're sure, that we'll return one day to cross the country from brisbane to perth.
some of the caches seems to be droped by other tourists in the landscape ... lots of DNFs, maybe because of the lack of maintainance. probably there aren't too many australien cachers in the outback? dear owners, hopefully you'll tolerate our standard-log. thanks for the caches and greetings from good old germany.

On our way here we saw a Cassowary and a little chick walking along the road, so we waited until they went back into the bush. At GZ we made a quick find. Thanks Spud Clan for the hide.
Have a few enjoyable caching days in Townsville we are now caching our way a little further north to Mission Beach for our next stop.
This was to be our last cache for the day before heading to our accommodation and as it was drizzling with rain we were quite happy that it wasn't a long walk but it was still quite an interesting little walk. The cache was found right where the GPSr was pointing which is always a great thing and our name was happily added to the log.
Many Thanks Spud Clan for the cache and for showing us this lovely part of the rain forest.

The hints disturbed me like cherribee. The cache was inside the gate and was easy to find after I followed the coords instead the hint.
Very nice site and tftc. Istanbulfreunde

Outside the gate? I dont understand that. Anyhow we followed the gps and found the cache quite nicely thanks. Then i walked the dreaming track, and after noticing many cassowary droppings, i came across a beautiful big bird gobbling purple qandongs in a grassy glade near the bridge! What a bonus! The teack to lacey creek was fabulous, very muddy but oh so wild. Loved it.
