After being interrupted by a campervan and occupants at the Pungarehu Celtic cache I decided to head for home and make this my last find for the Surf highway ride. I got to the top picnic area and was just about to start looking for waypoint 1 when a people-mover of tourists turned up. I headed into the bush via a nice looking path, and was surprised when I quickly found a location described in the second hint. The cache is very wet, and the log book is sodden and unable to be signed. Took a rubber frog and left a 'Hot Wheels' car in a protective baggie.
The area by WP 1 was clear on my return, but the co-ordinates led me to a bare grass area with nothing resembling hint one. I remember there being a picnic table a few years ago, but from the state of the grass it's been gone a while.
On the way down I met a wedding party coming up, so I was lucky with the timing if not the multi.

Followed the GPS to the middle of a grassed area. Nowhere there to place a waypoint. But the hint guided me in the right direction, but still couldn't find waypoint. Reading the logs I saw the waypoint was missing (and has been for nearly 2 years now!). So as others, I followed the hint for the final to find the cache. Unfortunately this isn't how a multi is supposed to be found...
Also we have only ever found 1 ice cream container that hadn't leaked, and it was in a cave, away from rain or flood water. This container was no exception, full of water, rusty and rotten toys and a completely sodden logbook that was impossible to sign... Needs maintenance quite urgently...

Nice walk and easy cache! Had an awesome time at the Wave Heaven Backpacker close to the cache!
Water in the box, pen and book also wet! Needs a renovation. Hope u can read the entries...

Decided to just go for the final, as it seemed from previous logs that it wouldn't be too hard to find, & it wasn't. Very straight forward! Lid wasn't on properly so there was some water in the container, but everythings fine inside (just a little damp). Not sure if it wasn't replaced properly, or if it" pops" off, but returned it sealed.
Left a pet rock - a monkey.

This was a first visit to this location for Netty and me. We assume the object referred to in regard to WP1 no longer exists. Fortunately our travels took us somewhere that resembled other information I had noted from the description and it turned out to be quite an easy find.
Like others before us, couldn't find the first clue - gps was all over the place - so decided to work on the final using the hint, as others had found it. Short walk and found quickly - TFTC and bringing us to this area.
Not sure as to first hide, asume was under the bridge,no luck for me there, my GPS had me in the middle of the grass, but coverage was poor on a rainy afternoon, shot up to trig & found cache with clue on way down, TFTC Cheers!
couldn't find pill box didnt know whether we were looking in the right place, then after muggles turned up decided to go for a walk with the kids and wait for muggles to leave. started to walk down a track and found the description of tree stated in clue lookeed around tree and stumbled upon cache. TFTC took camera lens and left golf ball
We're pleased we detoured for this one, nice patch of bush. The access road was covered with debris after yesterdays storm but we could still negotiate our way to the car park. Found the waypoint easily even though it was being guarded by quite a large spider.
Went off to find the final, at GZ we crossed paths with a couple heading in the oppisite direction, one of them prompty slipped over on the way down, so we were slightly delayed in recovering the cache as they took a moment before carrying on.

Found while staying at the motorcamp nearby...fantastic hide... enjoyed the bike ride down. Looking forward to coming back and doing the walks... TFTC
Really good location - found WP1 quickly and soon had the directions for final. Not far away and soon found. SL TFTC
What a great spot! Amazing trees and well worth the visit.

Lovely spot, came here once before just on dusk so a find was never going to be achievable. Quick find late this afternoon even with WP1 possibly missing as the hint gave enough info to make it a quick and easy find. TFTC Took Travelcoin.
Searched the structure for WP1 til our fingers bled - literally! Didn't have the benefit of recent logs so with no idea of what to do next, we gave up.[:9].
First cache for the New Year. No clue found at first way point so just used hints supplied and were rewarded with cache quickly in hand. Nice cool spot. Left frog, took dice.

Donned our Gully Gum Boots before setting off to find this one. Nice bush walk, thanks.

First find for the afternoonm, left TB and picked up one to assist in its travels,
Very nice little spot, which ended up being the only part of the national park that we visited. ?
It all worked out very well once the muggles family trying to talk to us about tracks left WP1. We then made a quick find of the hint container, committed the information to memory and went on a little walk. The final also worked out exactly right. This was a great way to direct us to a lovely spot for which it would have been difficult to get accurate co-ords. A well done cache. TNLN TFTC

took a while to get on the right track, but once there easily found cache, mind your step though and dont wear jandels like i did, not smart at all.
Was a much easier cache than first anticipated.... though WP one was difficult as muggle sat in his car nearby for some time. A very unusual offset cache, that had us thinking a bit for a while. Beautiful redwood trees admired at WP1 and the drive in. Thanks
Nice walk lots of muggles cars at the carpark. We built a raft to get across the stream so we didnt get wet.
Now that I have done this cache I understand the name of this cache and it was very adapt for the situation, lucky for me the feet didn’t get wet rock hoping was well done today, Found WP1 very easily and final GZ was spot on from the final clue given, great place for a cache, TFTC TNLNSL (472)
Surprisingly busy when I arrived but luckily the track I wanted was nit where the walkers were heading.

A lovely place we had never visited before, and were a little reluctant to enter, but it is a beautiful place and a sad place. Surprised to see no co-ords in the first cache but followed instructions and didn't get our feet wet. We enjoyed this cache, TFTC.
absolutely a wonderful day and i did not get my feet wet found Morris the moose Tb looking at kiwis have now taken him to see kiwis at the beach.
Yipee...our first FTF.
Couldn't believe our luck after returning home from a weekend of caching in Wellington to find this one still untouched. Had to sneak it in before lunch!! Took Alfie and FTF comic geocoins, left Morris the Moose to do a spot of Kiwi hunting.
Scenic walk and great cache location. TFTC
