Awesome find thanks, drive in is crazy huge pot holes, we stopped about 400m out as there was a decent sandy trench we didn't want to risk
TFTC,Got there with a van in tow thinking I could drive forward. After a quick find, I soon found myself doing a difficult turn around to head back the way we came in.So much history in the area, visited trackables.
Came in to do cowboys & Indians with the caravan on kept driving to this one. Stamped log and replaced. Thanks to CO .
Found him but almost gave up. Need a decent car to get there given the pot holes! Tftc
Found Jernt after circling twice... not magnetic anymore but tucked away safely. Such interesting history here. Thanks for bringing us here. FP added
Wow !!!!!!! Sealed road with potholes big enough to swallow our vehicle Cheers and tftc
Travelling with richlink on a trip from Perth to Darwin and return through the centre to SA and home again. We are in Darwin for a few days before heading south again.
Today, we drove to Adelaide River, enjoying the scenery, history, and, of course, the caches along the way. There is so much history here. Thanks, TeamGeoPlesk. A fave point from us.

Travelling with iluvtrekking and a return visit after eleven years. Today we are caching down to Adelaide River and surrounds. Wow so much history here but such a pity there is no written history lesson on site so we know what went on. Fascinating though. Thanks for bringing us here.
An old cache and a great one, so many cool spots up near Darwin!
This trip was sort of in place of a trip to a Mega that got canceled due to accommodation problems, I was quite happy when Goose said do you fancy to caching break in the Northern Territory as this would be the last State or Territory for me in Australia.
Our plan was to fly into Darwin on the Friday night have a couple days in the area then start heading South stopping overnight whenever we needed to, our next goal was the drive to the geographic centre of Australia at Lambert Centre and then head back to Alice to fly home ten days later.
We both had a great trip finding some important old caches, large ones and the odd clever one too, we found Ammo Cans all over the place which was nice as i think we have found most of the ones at home in Tassie.
Thanks for the cache.

A fascinating area, loved visiting here (except or the fire burning). We had a good look around before trying to find the cache...which we did when quickly in the end when we heard the fire crackling quite close.
Thanks TeamGeoPlesk
Our Northern Territory journey began in Darwin around 3am after a very delayed flight. We drove as far north as Fresh Water Camp (northeast of Darwin), followed by a loop to Liberated Cox (out to the west) and Litchfield National Park returning to Darwin. We then headed south with overnight stops at Katherine, Daly Waters and Devils Marbles before reaching our southernmost accommodation at Erldunda. From here we did a day trip to Lamberts Gravitational Centre on onward past Finke. Our last couple of days were in Alice Springs with a side trip via Hermannsburg and Glen Helen, all up covering just under 3800km. My thanks to all the COs with hides throughout the territory for helping make our trip so enjoyable.

We are travelling from SA doing a half lap of Oz around NT and WA.
Driving from Litchfield NP to Nitmiluk today. This one sounded a little different and it was definitely worth the time. A lot of history still standing here sadly decaying. Thanks for placing this cache and bringing us here.

We arrived into Adelaide River today and found that the rodeo was on and starting at 4. So we decided to check out everything around town in the morning before attending in the afternoon.
We rode our bikes out here and were surprised at the history in the area. We were surprised at the amount of shelters but we guess back then it was a lot more populated.
A nice quick find TFTC

Dieses Jahr ist es endlich soweit und wir reisen nach Australien um die Gibb-River-Road zu fahren. Eigentlich sollte dies schon 2020 stattfinden, aber da kam irgendwas dazwischen. Also 2023 ein neuer Anlauf.
München->Singapur->Perth->Broome->...->Gibb-River-Road->...->Darwin->München

Font knowing what i was in for, this was a terrific adventure today. I almost didn’t take us in here but after grabbing a sandwich fron Adelaide river puma I said to irondale how would you like to go and grab air raid? It’s got 22 favourites. She agreed and off we went, carefully following the waypoints. Just wow. Today this was exactly the reason I enjoy geocaching so much. Talk about getting off the beaten track. Have a FP for showing the amazing site. We spent a while exploring the whole area and went on to do Cowboys and Indianas too. For those who are on the fence about making the effort- absolutely DO! This area is so interesting and is way better than 30 caches on the side of the road. TFTC
Found at 3:06:00 PM(t) GAFF3.
After setting up camp at the nearby showgrounds, we had lunch and then headed off to find a coupe of interesting caches. Made it to GZ without any problems after observing so many interesting structures around here. What fascinates us is how much infrastructure was erected in such little time in such difficult road conditions of the time!
At GZ p-pprass made the classic mistake of going around clockwise Hasen't learned in 20 years!
Thanks TeamGeoPlesk.

Really enjoyed our time looking around here and found the cache very quickly considering it's a micro. Usually takes us forever or a DNF, lol, but not this time. A friend from Darwin is coming out to check it out and join us tomorrow as well. Might have a new muggle-turned-geocacher I reckon. Great history spot, TFTC.
Wow - wow - wow!!
So much history out here!!
We spent the morning wandering around, so much to see and find out about, great at our own pace rather than a tour ??
It’s hard to imagine the workloads out here, how busy everything must have been, the sweaty palms, the teamwork, the comradery - all to help protect our Country
A moment in time to reflect…
This is the reason why we enjoy geocaching, it gets us out to places that aren’t on the tourist map - a favourite point from us for the history and the location
Thanks for sharing this amazing location in Adelaide River.

Feels like being transported back in time. All this heritage standing untended and ignored for 70 years and still waterproof enough to keep the rain out! Was especially surreal trekking around here in the dark. T4TC!!!
Located eventually by Lead ‘n Lace thanks to directions by an earlier finder

Harder to find way to cache area than to find cache. From hwy keep right at y-junction and cross old one lane bridge, follow bitumen road and finally turn left and pass open gate.
There is another traditional cache hidden in same area

Wifey spotted this one. Great history all around this area which most people never get to see. TFTC
Searched and searched with no find. With Port63. Thanks for bringing us here...
To find the cache we really had to fight. It was hard to get here. But in wiki camps was a good description of the way. The kids took their torches and went exploding. After signing the log a big buffalo kept us away from our camper but finally he surrendered and went away. Lucky family!
Thank you TeamGeoPlesk for placing the cache and for bringing us to this adventurous place.

Paid Jernt a visit today. We found him quickly and said hi while exploring somewhere we had never been. TFTC
We are travelling for all of 2018 and have decided to spend the day caching as we have 6 weeks in darwin
Cyclone Marcus has just gone through so finding the area of interest to see and hopefully find some caches
Thank you for bringing us here, we wonder what the muggles see when they are touring around

Having just returned from Cambodia and Vietnam , I was not at all enthused by the thought of an afternoon of geocaching. However it soon became apparent that Pa, my friendly muggle husband, had been doing some research, and the caches on offer today were to take us to GZs that were right up his alley.
So thank you to all the COs for placing these caches which helped Pa enjoy my hobby more than usual. A fascinating area that most Australians know far too little about.
All caches found were in good condition. Logs were signed though I sign as SG in the small logs to save space.

After a week visiting friends in Darwin it was time to head south again to Katherine and of course we were grabbing a few more caches along the way.
We were traveling down the highway and learnt of Jernt's plight and thought that the least we could do was drop by to make sure he had enough supplies to keep him going on his brave quest. We pulled up at this last given co-ords and called out and tried to explain that we weren't muggles. We don't think Jernt believed us as there wasn't a sound to be heard so we sent out a search party, searching one shelter at a time but we were lucky, we found Jernt in the first one we looked in and even though he had his back to the wall ready to defend himself he suddenly relaxed when he saw the GPSr and realised that we were indeed friends. With a sigh of relief he opened up to us and allowed us to sign his ration book. We sat and talked for a little while but he seemed to be getting uneasy and wanted to go back to he's hide so we left him in peace happy in the knowledge that he was still ok.
Many thanks Team GeoPlesk for the cache and the little story but most of all for bringing us to this fantastic area. We are pushing nearly 20,000 finds and this one would have to be in the top 10, a definite favourite point from us.

A fascinating area to explore. Thoroughly loved this experience and exploring our WW2 history. Found cache on floor as magnets are ineffective. Log signed and back hidden but where I found it. Thanks

Now travelling north towards Darwin after the Red Centre Experience.
Caching towards Adelaide River for ANZAC day. Of course we stopped for a few caches along the way. The list was soooo long today that we didnt finish and ended up free camping along the way and no pub dinner was had.

Decided to head to Adelaide River for Anzac Day.
After setting up camp we headed out to locate the caches nearby.
This was the perfect cache to find at this time. It was interesting to see all the old buildings.

It was great to visit a place of such historical interest. We spent a lot of time driving around and looking at all the remains of what would've been a hive of industry 70+ years ago. We were surprised to see so many of the structures still in a reasonably good condition. We disturbed some small bats in here too. The cache was a quick and easy find and then we continued our recce of the area. A favourite point from us for this one. TFTC
The WWII history in this location is fantastic. Loved the cache story.
Bear was a little hesitant going in using an excuse of taking photos .
Luckily I was able to make a nice quick find .

Today we headed to Adelaide River, picking up a few on the way and this was one of them, easy find. This is why we love Geocaching taking us to places like this, what we would have missed out on if it was not for this great series of caches and adding to our favourites.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Sorry for the late log -
We visited Darwin on this year's Anniversary trip, as well Mark got to visit with his kids.
We took off on our Anniversary Day to show Mark's new found rellies about this silly game we play
It's a bit of a blur now, but we did have a good time and finding a few geocaches after a bit of a hiatus is always a bonus. Thanks for the detour on this day.

Was chasing this one as part of the 2015 Geocaching Road Trip. What an incredible place to discover. The number of times I have driven through Adelaide River and never knew all this was up here.... quite a significant area. Thanks for the hide.... got myself a smiley and a souvenir

Yay!! I'd been to that one before and didn't find it - but today I had more luck using the co-ords roostaman used.
Found it after a bit of a search. Couldn't decide if it was inside or out. Once we sorted that out there wern't too many hiding places left. Thx TeamGeoPlesk for a great cache.

Another drive around on a hot day on a overnight stay at Adelaide River.
Hardly any muggles around at the moment and usually good quick finds.
I found this area very interesting and had to take a few photos.
As others have said it was a long way from my GZ. My co-ords were 656 & 234 !
If the owner wants to update the co-ords they might have a few more finders.

Continuing our journey towards Darwin, on our 2nd trip around Australia.
We stopped and set up the caravan at the show grounds to do some more caching.
Have always enjoyed looking at old military bunkers, its a shame to see these being left to slowly deteriorate.
Cache was a good hide, blended in well.
Thanks for the cache, TeamGeoPlesk.

In this area I am reminded again why I chase geocaches !!
You find yourself in the most amazing places that you just would not find otherwise [^]
It felt a bit like driving though a movie set in places.
The olde railway line and ruins just made it look that way
At GZ I found meself standing between two lots of rusty doors.
Well as a vast majority of the population are not sinister handed, I headed for the other spot
Woo Hoo !! Easy find, once I removed the sunglasses
TFTC and amazing spot !!

Very interesting site here with lots of history and relics of the past. Cache was easily found probably bit of luck that we enetered the correct shelter straight away. TFTC TeamGeoPlesk.
We went fourth and back between the shelters, because the GPS wasn't very accurate. So we followed the hint picture, which shows the shelter number 9. The only thing we found in this shelter was a bat, which didn't like our visit at all. Finally we followed the coordinates from one of the log entries, which led us to the shelter with a prime number close to the number in the picture.
By the way the road is in a bad condition especially for rented 2wd camper vans.
But still thanks for this cool site!

An interesting location. Looked for a short while then saw it. Thank you for bringing my attention to this place in history.
looked in the wrong structure to start with so head down "can you here the whistle blowing and then found this one on the way back. Couldn't believe how hot it was inside the bunker, I'm surprised the heat didn't effect the ammunition. T4TC.
I guess we were lucky. I pulled up, quick decision on which shelter to try and had the cache in hand before the Boss was out of the car. TFTC
But, give me good old dirt roads (even with the big holes) any day rather than these old , crumbling bitumen/asphalt roads with their deep holds and rough edges.

This was our 2nd cache in our caching run today - and we found it at around 11:32.
(So this is our 4607th total find.)
Hmmm, the GPS put us exactly half way between two likely spots - and as Murphy would have it, we chose the wrong one first.
A very interesting area, we spent quite some time exploring as well as caching.
Took: Nothing
Left: Nothing
Thanks TeamGeoPlesk for the hunt today.
