Visited this spot to pick up a new mystery that has this as the final. Great to read about the school that once was here. Thanks for the cache The Bohemian
This geocacher reported that this geocache should be archived. A community volunteer reviewer has been notified.
This cache needs either a bulldozer or an entire day with a chainsaw to retrieve. It is very thickly covered in trees that have been chopped down, and the location and weed growth between suggests they have no interest in removing these trees.
A lot of fallen trees and branches right over GZ. No sign of any seat and not able to get in under branches to check. If its still there its no longer accessible.
We were driving around this area today, so stopped off to see if we could find this cache. CO needs to check if it is still accessible. A fallen tree is blocking GZ.
Think. The area is under a fallen tree based on gps. Did check surrounding area but no luck
Out exploring the area with my mum (her first time geocaching) and put to good use since she knows pretty much every single plant Weren't too many to choose from and cache soon located. TFTC
Had no idea what I was looking for but found it successfully. Infact I found two. I have put them together but one of the caches is very wet and getting a bit mouldly. A great little story. A lovely down the peninsular today. TFTC
Went out for a quiet drive just to have a look around, I usually try to stop for a geocache when out and about. Today 'Schools out' was the handiest one. Thank you for the interest little write up, I loved the story of your grandma
Whew, finally found it. Put in a Take Pride pin from the TwinCities 2016 Pride Festival ( Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA)

Took a bit of searching, but in the end it was actually a little out in the open. Put it back where we found it but covered it in leaves.
Drove over the hill from Portobello to have a look at Hooper's Inlet. We found this one 'old school' with no description or hints because we run out of cell phone coverage.

It was a bit soggy so we couldn't physically mark it. Instead we are forced to use a digital mark
Tried to use the hint first and came up empty. Then used the co-ords and was a quick find...I should know better by now! TFTC and the history lesson, this is a very interesting spot.
Out on a bike ride from town with this as my objective. it is nicely tucked away but the log is quite damp and its protective plastic bag has a slit on its side.
This is a really nice spot. Thanks for the information about the school - it would be good for an information board and photos to be erected there so everyone would know. TFTC #6813
What a spot. Wouldn't even know it was here if we weren't geocaching. Driven past so many times without stopping! TFTC
What a lovely place, just right for a lunch break, providing you find the right place

First attempt at a Geocache so don't know if we are totally hopeless or not. Kids turned the place upside down and didn't want to leave.

Spending Christmas this year with my family, and of course, lots of caching in the mix that means!!
We had a pretty casual christmas morning - and then decided to go out to the peninsula, to get some caches!
A find that took quite a while! - But we did get it in the end! - Just not quite in line with the hint, but in an obvious place. - Nice story to go with the place though! Hahahaha! Crazy to imagine times like that though - we take all our technology and everything for granted!

Found it but it was so hot that someone couldn't be bothered to go back for a pen so I had to.

GPS was accurate, hint not so much. The old log is composting nicely, but the new log is holding up well.
Nearly gave up on this one, read past logs only to get thrown further off course. In the end I just trusted my gps and my intuition
We can confirm that this one is still there. Signed replacement log and returned to where we found it. Found with Aoraki Sheep.
Co -ords had us looking on other side of hint object with no luck. Time to stand back and have a rethink - 'where would I hide it?' and sure enough there it was. Found with debsnz
Looked all around but with no success. 2nd "no find" in a row so perhaps it has been muggled, or else we are not as good as we think we are
Had a good look around on the fringes of all Red Hot Pokers and still could not find. The lawn had been recently mowed close up so maybe it has gone
After having a great time at the albatross centre, we took the shoreline road back to Dunedin and picked up a couple of caches. But not before hitting Allans Beach in hopes of seeing some sea lions (and we did - many!). On the way there we took your suggested sideroad and greatly enjoyed the story and the site. The cache took awhile to find but we were glad to be successful - partially because one of my teammates read a previous log. Thanks for the cache and the experience - I'll see if I can make the remains into a waymark. TFTC! #3437
Interesting story...We have put a "TEMPORARY" log into cach and dried it all out.
Really does need some attention

Thanks T.B

We were passing today so stopped to have a look in here. Nice spot, and the cache was discovered after a short search, the coordinates were very accurate. Forrtunately I knew my botany as the hint was a tiny bit misleading. Despite the logbook being completely soaked with water I managed to write on it, but a bit of owner maintenance is definitely required. Thanks for the cache!
Found it! TFTC
Log book has been wet now dry and hard. Please replace.

This needs maintainance, as the log book is drenched as the whole cache could be leaking in water. The log book was not in a separate plastic wrap, to ensure it dry when the insides of the cache container is wet.
Unable to record our username in it, as the book is too wet.
It was very tough to find it, as the flowers were not blooming. Managed to find it in the end, eventhough I didn't realise that I was jst standing a few inches away
No thanks to swppv, who showed me the WRONG plant! Never seen a red hot poker before... Until swppv made it all right when he realized his mistake ..... 20mins later, of coz!

Without much help from technology due to a depleted battery the last find on the Peninsula was the longest of the day. You need to know your flowers when they are not in bloom. Penangboy was pretty much stood on the thing and we still took a while to spot it. Nice story with this cache, what a place to go to school. TFTC
Very wet log and so could not write. Loved the story of your grandmother.
Nice spot for a cache. Ozibags made the find.
Our 20th of 65 finds today.

Found at 11:44 AM GAFF5 in the company of Browngang and Juddda. A nice story, but we wonder how far it was from the pyramids to the school? Very soggy underfoot here - it must have rained for months non stop!
We always like to see remnants of the gardens of these old school sites.
Thanks The Bohemian

Caching with Ghostgums, Mr Meccano, Gunnie69, kaisho53 and fourbees while attending the NZ Mega. Nice spot to ponder the history of the site. Found the cache but unfortunately it had water in it. We drained and dried it as best we could, added our sticker and replaced it. TFTC The Bohemian.
No trouble with locating the cache container for the group however, once extracted, etching names in the log was impossible. It needs a little tlc to dry it out and replace the log as many previous logs have suggested...
A nice story behind the cache and a nice spot to drop by. Thanks for the cache and location... [^]
Found with fellow Queensland hunters Kaisho53, OziBags, TheFourBees, Ghostgums and Mr Meccano.
