Some interesting geology here, Freddo loves rocksTravelling around Victoria with Freddo for a week finding caches as we go. With two challenges on our radar we were in full force. All logs signed with our names or F+g98 for the smaller caches. Thanks for the cache
DNF from many years ago resolved. Answers sent to cache owner for review and approval.Cleaning up Victoria with gridge98. We are on a mission this week. Completing twenty finds in Mexican local government areas is the challenge. Another find with the correct criteria. It is in Victoria and we have not accumalated twenty finds in this local government area.Today was the day to find this cache. Today is Moon's day the fourteenth day of the octavus month of the Roman calendar in the wonderful year of twenty twenty four. We found your cache container and added some inky stuff to the paper sheet or note pad you have supplied for a log book or scroll. The cache container and log book or scroll were in good condition. It was a bit cooler today. It was so windy today. A few showers. With the log signed and the cache replaced it was time to leave. Onwards to the next cache. Woot, that is not to far.I would like to show my respect and acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Land, and their continuing connection to it. I wish to pay my respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past, present and emerging.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. We needed to find an Earthcache today for the International Earthcache Day 2024 souvenir.Well, that's only one reason to stop by this site. How could we pass up a maccamob cache?Rod and I spent a while here perusing the signs and checking out the lava flow in the valley.Answers sent by n0w0rries.Thanks for the informative cache maccamob.
International Earthcache Day 2024 long weekend in the Southwest. Our first stop was to join my muggle mate, Spud, for breakfast in Beaufort. Moving along in the general direction of Portland we decided to make this our target for International Earthcache Day 2024.We spent some time here, perusing the info boards and checking out the lava flows in the creek. *Answers sent to the COs.*Thank you for the Earthcache maccamob. What a fascinating site this is.
this was a pretty interesting place we stopped at..neat history..janjorjack sent in our answers..thks for the fun
Visiting Australia and today we are out touring with Chooknchunk. We are always looking for oldies and some of the other caches nearby. We have found the cachers around here super friendly and helpful. Thanks for the smile
I have always admired this view during my drives for work. I finally had the time to enjoy lunch and answer some questions. TFTC. It was great to learn of the formation of the area.
After spending some time in the Southern Grampians we were slowly making our way to Warrnambool for Xmas (not the most direct route but one we hadn't traveled before)Got to this spot and checked out the app but couldn't see any cache here. Read the information signs and delighted in the view, trying to image how it must have looked as the lava was flowing. Said to my wife that I thought this was an ideal spot for an Earthcache, it was only later that I saw there was actually one here.
Suscoe stopped by here this morning on our long way round homeward trip.
An enjoyable read of the information and certainly a brilliant vantage point to admire Nature's handiwork.
We have emailed our answer to maccamob.

We have visited Herman’s Hell earlier today and submitted our answers to the CO and now logging our find for this really interesting geological feature. TFTC
I'm enjoying this volcanic tour I seem to have found myself on. Interesting info boards, explains a lot about the lava blisters, caves etc.

Finally I was able to get back on the road, after 2 years and 3 cancelled trips. 7 days on the road, into SA and back to VIC via Mildura. Portland was the first destination, the second time I have stayed here. Was good to be able to take a good look around this time.
Find number 10 for today and the first log for 2022 here.
Answers sent to CO. What a great spot, love the view and the lesson.

Out geocaching with Sparhawke today while holidaying from Queensland. Saw this cache while out taking in the local sights. Thank you for the cache!
I visited this very interesting lookout and am logging the cache hoping my answers will pass muster. Great spot for an earth cache
Found on a drive from our lovely campsite at Budj Bim NP to Hamilton and surrounds. The cache is a great reason to stop and learn a little about the geography of the area.

Disabled for the duration of the renewed Covid-19 lockdown. We believe the responsible thing is to disable all our caches until this latest crisis passes.
Thanks.

What a perfect place to stop off on a road trip. Unfortunately my phone went flat right before pulling in so i was unable to get a photo but i will send in the answers to the questions. tftc. this turned out to be the perfect sunday drive to get the kids out of the house. We will be back to take geo husband for a look around.
Disabled for the duration of the Covid-19 crisis. Although exercise is ok, beaches, parks etc are gradually being closed, and we are being asked to stay home. The virus can be transmitted by surface contact, so please don't take the chances. Geocaching is a game, and we are dealing with a serious Public Health issue, so we need to get our priorities in order. Please stay at home!
We believe the responsible thing is to disable all our caches, until this crisis passes.

Today FeatherWaite and I headed to Warrnambool from Adelaide for a few days of caching in south-western Victoria/south-eastern South Australia.
We had some specific areas and caches that we were targeting, but also took the opportunity to find a few other caches along the way. It was quite a warm day, so that limited us a bit in what we could do and so we had to leave some of the more strenuous caches for another time.
This earthcache was along our route. It was a good one to visit to get an overview of the volcanic action that had occurred in the area, particularly as we also visited some of the specific locations mentioned on the signage to find other caches.
Thanks maccamob for an interesting earthcache.

This is the second earth cache we have done always just bypassedthem. Now we know how to do it we will be onto them. Thank you and what a view.
TFTC Thank you for hiding this cache. You have shown us a new place and have helped make geocaching an enjoyable activity. Thank you for putting this series of caches in.
Driving from Port Fairy up to Hamilton, we stopped here to enjoy the warm evening sun. Since it was such a beautiful spot with Mt Napier in the distance, [@astoneee](http://coord.info/PR4ZE0A) suspected it to be a perfect location for an Earth Cache - and there it was ! We took a photo and [@astoneee](http://coord.info/PR4ZE0A) submitted the answers to the CO. TFTC!
On our way from Port Fairy to Hamilton, [@Nongon](http://coord.info/PRRPZ92) and I enjoyed the beautiful scenery and vistas while driving. This late autumn atmosphere gave us partially the feeling of being in some savannah in South Africa or the likes. When Mt. Napier rose in the distance, I took out my mobile phone and checked cgeo, just to see that there is an Earth Cache describing the surrounding area! Without hesitation, we stopped and were struck by the calmness and beauty of the place. After having worked in Melbourne for a couple of weeks, that was really some relieve!
The information signs were exactly that - very informative, so we believe we could answer the questions correctly. They have been sent to the CO.
Thank you so much for making us stop here, which we most probably would not have done if not for this cache!

Found a week ago and answers submitted to the cache owner. An amazing history and science lesson, and we often forget about the volcanic beginnings of our country and how recent the last eruptions were. TFTC
Its been such a long time since I have had time to find caches, something I would like to change in 2019, more time for me and more time for caching… lets see how I go!
I originally marked this cache as ‘found’ FLTF – full log to follow. Here I am well over a month on and I haven’t’ added a full log yet! So her I am typing up a generic copy and paste log, I do apologise that it isn’t a unique log for your cache. Thank you for suppling me/us with a cache to do along the way. I got a few caches orders and finds muddled so I am sorry if I created confusion, I think I have corrected that error now.
We always love doing EC’s and it’s even better when they belong to Maccamov!
Our answers are winging their way to the CO as I type. Enjoyed pulling over here and learning a bit more about the area GeoD grew up in. He was never taught about the local volcanic history when attending school.

A fascinating EC that I didn't have the time to appreciate as I was attempting to arrive at the event in the Otways roughly on time. Nevertheless I enjoyed the views, gathered the information and took a moment. Answers have been sent to the COs.
Dropped by here today on my way home from Warrnambool, what an interesting scene this was, fortunately I missed the show when this site was created Another interesting bit of very ancient history.

Regardless of the fog this was still a very interesting EC. My plan today was to climb Mt Napier first then head over here but changed my mind as the fog would have spoilt the view.
Thx maccamob for a great EC. Can't wait to come back when the sun is out! Answers on their way.

Back on the road again for another international trip. This time to Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan and South Korea.
Like our previous trips we focussed on old caches, high favorites, rare cache types and pretty locations.
Most of the trip was together with Plaguerider, Zanna and FLtravelers, but some of it I did solo.
Logs were signed as DATT (Do All The Things) and if there were answers, we typically sent them as a group.
Thanks for maintaining the caches for us.

**Trip log:**
Found during Team DATT's (Do All The Things) annual international caching trip consisting of FLtravelers, PlagueRider, waterfan5 and myself. Africa kicked it all off back in 2016, with a follow up European tour last year. I tried to pitch Asia but the pull of the Great Ocean Road and completing our 6th continent was too strong, and we landed on week long road trips through both Australia and New Zealand. Before meeting the team in Sydney though, I was able to schedule some layovers in Asia (Beijing, Bangkok and Singapore), so in the end I got a bit of everything. =)
**Australia Day 6 - Port Campbell -> Victor Harbor:**
The first half our day was spent along the coast, still exploring The Great Ocean Road and all it had to offer. To keep on schedule we eventually pulled ourselves away to head inland towards Adelaide. We arrived in Victor Harbor late into the evening and settled in to wait for sunrise and our hike out to Granite Island and its webcam.
**Cache Log:**
Nice break from the road, especially when it's an earthcache! Answers have been or will be sent by a team member soon.

We’re on our annual international geocaching trip as Team DATT (Do All The Things) comprised of FLtravelers, PlagueRider, waterfan5, and zanna. This year we chose to explore Australia and New Zealand. Zanna and I decided to do a two-day stopover in Beijing, a three-day stopover in Bangkok, and a 12-hour layover in Singapore on our way to meet up with the rest of the team in Sydney.
Once we got the Team back together, we made a “bee-line” to Lane Cove and various caches around Sydney. Then we headed down the coast on A1. After visiting Wasp Head, we headed up through Canberra and down M31 to Melbourne, after a webcam stop on Mount Buller.
We had a great time in Melbourne, which is my favorite city in Australia so far, then onto the Great Ocean Road, the highlight of Australia for this trip. After a couple days (not nearly enough) we left the ocean road and headed up A6 towards Victor Harbor (webcam) and Adelaide (webcams) for our flight to Auckland. Seems we found every webcam in Australia.
We targeted old caches, highly favorited caches, earthcaches, virtuals, and of course webcam caches, and anything else that got our interest along the way. Logs were signed DATT. Answers, where required, were sent by one of the team members. Thanks for adding to the enjoyment of our trip with this cache. Great spot.

I drew a line on me GPS' map last night,
enjoyed a few too many beers,
and waking up this morning,
followed the line to discover where I was taking meself today [:o)]
The blue line took me to this very familiar spot,
which happens to be one of me favouritest views in OZ !!
Few would agree with me,
but the geological interest in the view is amazing
There is no way you could mistake this view for anything other than a volcanic landscape.
It even has a volcanic cone in the centre of the scene [^]
Classic !!
I read the signs again,
memorised me answers,
electronically posted me answwers to the CO.
Good to go

Logged with permission. We really enjoy these Earth caches. It is very interesting to read the history on the information boards. It breaks up the journey as we travelled from Warrnambool to Branxholme to visit friends and later in the day, we went home to Geelong finding a few geocaches on the way. TFTC
Found on a weekend away exploring Volcano's in the west. It was great to stop here and learn a bit more about just how crazy an area this would have been to live in and not very long ago. Thanks for highlighting the rest stop was so much more than just a place to pull over, glad we did.
Heading home to Wangaratta after an enjoyable boys weekend at Mt Eccles. We wished we had more time to head over to explore the caves and lava canal near this cache as well but it was nice to get to learn something about the local geology here instead.

Competed on Fri 7/4/17 with Yoshi Warriors, Happy Pants & crisant2017. I have looked at collecting the caches in this are for a couple of years glad I waited and did it with the crew mentioned above. Have driven/ ridden past this spot many time, well worth stopping off and taking in the views.
Logged with permission from the CO. Went out to Mt Eccles with Yoshi Warriors Happy Pants and Geo Muppetz. Another good spot for a photo and great cache in this beautiful area, especially being able to learn some history. TFTC
Logged with permission from the CO. We swung past this one today after grabbing a nearby cache and decided to gather the required information and take in some great views over this valley. With a very brief and quick history lesson of this area we had enough information to submit our answers and then head to Macarthur for a well earned bite to eat and drink. Thanks maccamob for highlighting this area and the cache. Found with Yoshi Warriors, chrisant2017 and Geo muppetz while on a caching road trip from Warrnambool exploring the countryside.
Logging with permission from the CO. Out for a day of caching with Happy pants, Geo muppetz & chrisant2017 to Mt Eccles & surrounds. After grabbing some food & drink at nearby Macarthur, we ventured on to this earthcache. I enjoyed the view of the valley from here and Mt Napier in the distance which we would later climb. We gathered the info required and sent the answers, to which we were given the thumbs up. Thanks maccamob for this informative earthcache.
Epic fail you pwned us n00bs... As we drove through this pretty valley we admired the landforms and the cone in the distance. Should be an earthcache says one of my companions. Hmm.. A little later I checked the GPSr and realised that we had passed an earthcache recently. Places to go and things to do. No time to turn around and check the signs. Maybe another time.
As we headed from Hamilton to hopefully achieve a FTF in a rabbit hole we made the stop here at the viewing area to enjoy the landscape before us and gather the information for this earthcache. Photos taken and shown to CO and permission granted to log. Thanks maccamob for highlighting this volcanic area, hopefully we can do some more in this series very soon.
We travelled through this amazing area on the way home from a three day break in Portland. We feel we have only touched the surface with the small number of caches we stopped at, but it has just whet our appetite for more next time.
This earthcache was really enjoyable to have the information and diagrams there describing clearly and exactly what you are seeing. And the view was pretty good too!
Another tourist had parked their caravan with their door right next to the third sign, but we were on a mission and that didn't stop us moving in to read it. Think they got the hint after that.
Thank you maccamob for this earthcache and for bringing us here.

TFTC. We are currently in Macarthur for a few days doing the overnight support for a long distance cycling event. After managing some rest we had a spare hour so we drove out to this lookout. A fascinating vista. Nice and green after the recent rains. We read the notices with interest.
We will return to this area to follow the volcano trail in the near future.

With water laying everywhere in the district today I was surprised to see this valley relatively dry. The information boards are very informative and the valley looked very lush. Thanks maccamob, loved learning about the geology of this area. Answers e-mailed.
Our current visit to Australia had been in the planning for over a year with the very significant help and advice from friends who live in Melbourne. The original plan was for a 2 month visit, but as things progressed we just couldn't help extending our trip to the full 90 days allowed on our visas - after all it's a big country and so much to see and do, especially with our favourite pastimes being birding, hiking and of course geocaching! We are currently on the first section of our journey, which started with our arrival at Perth airport followed by a day cycling around Rottnest Island before travelling on to Adelaide where we met up with our friends. We then continued on to spend some time on Kangaroo Island. We are currently on route to Melbourne via Goolwa, Strathalbyn, Coorong, Mount Gambier, Cape Bridgewater, the Grampians National Park (where we are at present), Port Campbell, Cape Otway and Lorne, cramming in as much as possible on route. From Melbourne we head to Tasmania for a few days, then back to Melbourne before setting off to Sydney via Wilson’s Promontory, Lakes Entrance, Mallacoota, Pambula Beach, Thredbo, Canberra and Fitzroy Falls. After a visit to Sydney we will travel on to the Gold Coast, then after spending a few days in the nearby mountainous birding hotspots, followed by an overnight trip to Fraser Island, we will fly from Brisbane to Cairns, visiting yet more good birding sites. We will then drive up to Cape Tribulation before heading back south again to Port Douglas and a day out on the Great Barrier Reef. We then return to Cairns for the flight to Alice Springs, where we will hire a 4x4 camper and set off for a week on the circuit to and from Kings Canyon and Ayers Rock. We then fly to Darwin from where we will spend the last two weeks of our holiday making our way to Broome via Kakadu, Cooinda, Katherine Gorge, Kununarra, Lake Argyle, Emma Gorge, the Bungle Bungle’s and Fitzroy Crossing. Our last two nights in Australia will be spent in Broome before we fly back to Perth, from where we will connect with the flight all the way back home to Zimbabwe via South Africa. We already know we can't wait to return!
This was an enjoyable stop on our way to the Grampians. Answers sent to the CO - thanks so much for the cache!

I did this Earth Cache a little while ago and have been a bit busy to email the answers. I have finally had the time to go through my notes and photos of this earth cache. We came through here via a detour to visit extended family. I just loved the views from this location and the geological information was incredible to read about, I even went a bit further and did some extra reading. Thanks or highlighting the geological features and bringing me here.

This type of cache has to be my favourite because you not only learn about our world and how it was formed and then to see what it looks like today. We wondered if all the surrounding hills had trees on them or were they later!!!!
Thanks for showing us this area and another F. P. to add to the list.

To celebrate Earthcache day I went for a drive to one of my nearest earthcaches.... A lovely location, that was well worth the drive

Finally on my way home from Mount Gambier, heading for Vermont in Melbourne's eastern suburbs, sort of a round about trip across the coastline and somewhat inland chasing a few earth-caches.
An eerie spot today in the mist or fog, I'm not quite sure, a little bit of drizzle as well. Interesting valley outlook with a huge story to tell.
Thanks for placing this cache maccamob

We actually visited this cache about 4 weeks ago when we were on holidays in Port Fairy, but I have only now got around to logging it. We did our first Earth caches around this volcanic region and loved every minute of it and learned heaps of interesting things. Thanks for a wonderful cache.
I was in Hamilton with family and friends for a wedding. One of my wife's friends was getting hitched....... Mungoman and myself. (the boys) got a a brief chance to escape in the morning before all the celebrations started. Mungoman has a keen interest in all things caves. So this was a must visit. Great view of the valley with the young lava flows (young in Geological terms). You can really get a feeling on how it moved through the country side down the valley like a river. We got a a chance to see a few of the nearby caves too. Great place that I would love to explore even more.
Officially added to the bucket list for a later visit........
Great spot and very interesting earth cache. Thanks......

Passed through this area about 2 years ago on a Caving trip to Mt Eccles but never picked up the cache.
Thought it proper to share this awesome location with 2 Leg Drive before a short visit to Byaduk.

4th find for today on the 6th day of our road trip from Melbourne to Adelaide via the great ocean road. We will of spent 9 days travelling between Melbourne and Adelaide with many of those days being in the vicinity of the great ocean road using earth caches to guide us through this geological wonderland.
Today we travel to Portland from Warrnambool via a few inland roads to see the volcanic district of Budj Bim, Harman's Vally and Mount Napier.
Thank you for the cache stop

Logged with permission. An interesting view and series of panels. It must have been quiet a sight not so long along when active abut like one of those prehistoric movies with the lava flowing down the valley. TFTEC a fav pt from us
Logging to keep our order, however will change if not given permission to log. A fantastic view across the valley today, even in the extreme heat. Would've been a lot hotter with the lava flowing through I guess. Thanks for the interesting information, and an earthcache that doesn't require a degree in geology to complete. Answers have been emailed to CO.
Logging with permission. Thanks maccamob for the prompt response to my emailed answers. I found this earthcache really interesting and with the information boards the story of Harman's Hell was easy to follow and understand. It seems to me that the volcanic history of our state is not well known by the general populous and places like this go a long way to educating and informing. Once again thanks maccamob.
Did this Earth Cache with Geowife while travelling from Portland to Castlemaine. TFTC maccamob.
Thanks for permission to log.

Awaiting confirmation from CO, but logging on the fly to try and keep tabs on our finds while on the road Photo to be uploaded and fav point for not wanting an essay response for the Earthcache TFTC
Studied this site and Mt Napier for an Honours project.
Great cache - from a volcanology students perspective

Some frat history here. GeoSon (7) enjoyed reading about the volcanoes and answering the questions! This is our first ever earth cache and are lolling forward to doing more! A fantastic learning experience for all involved!! Well done maccamob! TFTC
Out for a drive on New Year Day. Not a great day, as it started rain as we left Warrnambool and only stopped for short period during the day. When we arrive here, the rain had stopped but the wind would have carried us for miles, if we had a kite or sail. Even the geo kids found this interesting. Thanks maccamob for bringing us here.
Out on my own today while Ms FV is at a class. I find all Vulcan series caches most interesting.
maccamob thanks
