On our way to the top of Cape York we seem to have taken a wrong turn We owe the timely finding of the caches on both Thursday and Good Island to our tour guide and staff, Dirk Laifoo. The group bails out of the bus (we are travelling with some muggles) and as they head a bit further up the hill, I disappear off into the undergrowth.A nice quick find but the green ants arent too happy with me and I leg it as quickly as I can and rejoin the group using my ninja skills. No one notices a thing.Note: the lid on the cache is cracked and broken. Weirdly this was one of the few logs I found that was actually dry.TFTC Venimus, Invenimus, Signati
Kiwinic and myself are having a nice night in TI over from Albany in WA. While we are here we are grabbing all the caches available to us. A quick find for us here today doing a self walk tour. TFTC
Im gonna be feeling ants all over me for days now. That was a mission and a half. Thick growth, ants galore. Covered in ants several times on the journey to the cache. Hmmm we got it, but was it worth it? lol and here I was thinking the first three we got on Thursday Island were easy
After taking the morning ferry, it was time to explore and pick up a few caches before our helicopter trip later in the morning. The caches worked out to be a good way to see the sights and ended up at the places that had been of interest. This took a little searching, but thankfully not so much the green ants didn't get up to too much trouble. Then up the hill to explore the barracks. A great location.
A caching trip from Canberra, ACT to Cape York, Qld and then around the gulf to East Arnhem Land, NT.Now with a detour to Thursday Island.TFTC. A nice thick jungle trek. Cache found after a short search.
Found cache, is in dire need of repair. Cache is cracked and it looks like water has gotten in. Tftc
Nice little find on Christmas Eve with some cool sights to see. Thanks for the Cache!
Today we opted to catch the ferry from Seisia to TI and spend the day exploring TI (and collecting most of the caches on the Island.)
After arriving, we had about 90 minutes to kill until our bus tour. We were all keen for a walk and there were caches to be found.
From Bach Beach, our walk took us up the hill close to this one. Even though our tour would take us to the fort later on, I opted to divert and grab the cache now. All in good order.
Later , we spent a good 45 minutes exploring the fort and the underground museum in the Fort bunkers. Very interesting. Many thanks vela1968

Out here for the day on Thursday Island and had some time before our bus trip to look for a few caches. CrookedPete and Micjor found this one. Thanks for the cache.
I’m on day fourteen of a road trip from Brisbane to Cape York with Swellerfungus micjor and Jezndez ……. today we are visiting Thursday Island, so finding some caches while here.
Great views here and a museum visit too. Micjor & CrookedPete made the find here.
Thanks for the hide.

Visiting TI for the day, skipped the bus tour for a self guided geocache tour instead.
These hidden ruins definitely aren’t on the tourist trail.
Loved this general area, spectacular views !

We took the ferry across and back for the day and walked all over the island to find all the caches, except one. Interesting history here and lovely spot to visit, but was very windy today. Green Hill was black burnt out hill, not much green around the hill. Quick find here. TFTC

Departed Melbourne a couple of weeks ago and travelling north for the winter, well, for the northern warmth actually (hopefully ), passing through as many small towns as I can grabbing the odd cache here and there as I travel.
Finally made the northern warmth and the Cape and I'm loving it
Today we headed to Thursday Island for a "3 Hour Tour, a tiny ship and the weather was rough but skipper brave and true...", sorry, couldn't resist
Enjoyed the tou and lunch at the Top Pub with a cache or two for desert.
A quick find today but watch out for those green ants.
**Thanks for placing this cache vela1968**

Found it but couldn't write in log. It was wet and pen didn't work. Lid broken. Requires mantinance.
Searched and searched, should have been relatively easy. Couldnt find it, given size and hint I suspect it has gone missing, shouldnt have been that hard.
Unfortunately there has been a fire and it is still smouldering. Unable to go through burnt bush ️
Grass was too long and not prepared to go any further. Way off coordinates and nowhere the top of Green Hill.
I've been on an absolutely amazing work trip. A few days in Townsville, and then Cairns, Waiben (TI) via Ngarupai (Horn), and back to Cairns. What an amazing part of the world. I love the beauty, I love the remoteness, and most of all I love the people. There's nothing better than Island Time, and knowing that it might take an hour to walk a few blocks because everyone is just so darn welcoming and talkative. I've left a piece of my heart at the forst on Waiben where we watched sunset while sipping on a drink with mates.

found on our yorke to york trip. (top of Yorke Peninsula, South Australia to tip of Cape York, Queensland )
so many great experiences and beautiful locations. how fortunate we are to live in this wonderful, free and varied country!
thank you to all cache owners and those who helped out with maintenance and especially to vela1968 for this particular smilie.
i had run out of time on first attempt but did another trip to TI (lured in vain by a FTF attempt i must admit). today i was determined and in reading the hint the cache was in hand and far less bush bashing required!
a fav point from me. gorgeous views again and more detailed history as we entered the underground museum on the Peddells tour

Pprime and Fangsoki arranged a trip to the Torres Straits to celebrate my upcoming 75th birthday,
This old cache was on our target list. Fangsoki had found it last year so he stood back and let Pprime and I head into the trees to find the cache. Pprime was looking one spot but I suggested that he check another and that was where he located the cache. We then spent some time exploring the nearby historic fort

Up to the Strait with Fangsoki and celebrating Crew 153's own milestone - grabbing caches on TI today. Getting a bit warm for us southerners now, but the views up here were amazing. A quick stop here - divebombed by the green ant army, but survived and signed no worries. Loved this view point.
Thanks vela1968 for entertaining me at this location.

Quick find & no green ants! Left 2x TBs for event goers tomorrow. Thanks for the walk & TFTC!0
Found while visiting from Canberra. We were on TI for the day and doing a mini bus tour.
Luckily someone else had found this cache earlier in the day and there was a nice path through the long grass.
The cache was out in the open so we rehid it under a ledge.

FOUND IT!! That grass is long and the Green Tree ants are everywhere! Overall great walk to find hidden quite well off the road.
Found it. A lot of green ants at the find and had to walk through long grass to get to it. Great walk.

It was a hot hiking Thursday for Fangsoki and I on Thursday Island. We had already hiked up to the turbines, and now it was time to hike up here too. We did later find out we could have booked ourselves a tour which would’ve brought us right up here, but hey, where’s the sense of adventure, and this got us right in to the island spirit. Finally we made it up to the top, and then had to make our way in when it happened….
We were under attack!! However it wasn’t from the Russians, it was from ants! Green Tree Ants all over Fangsoki, his shirt and his pack, and a number all over me. There may have been a bit of dancing and flailing and flicking and slapping that occurred here. When the enemy was defeated as best as possible, we were back to the cache hunt, and I soon spied it from my vantage point. Log signed, we dashed out a much safer way, and much more cautiously before heading in to check out the awesome fort.
Thanks for the cache vela1968.

Go to Thursday Island, they said. It won't be hotter than the pits of hades or anything - they said.
We motored from the township onto this one. Oh steep, hot hill - you are not kind to this poor large geocacher. I got there.. a couple more ups and down and we were soon nearing GZ.
We saw evidence of a fire - and wondered if it had fallen victim. I followed my smartphone toward GZ. Big mistake. Green Tree Ants aplenty. And I mean aplenty. It involved me removing our backpack and my shirt... trying to get the buggers off.
We shifted position and thankfully 1MinnieMoo found it in a more hospitable area. We signed the log and and hightailed it out ant city. We spent about 20 minutes at the forts. This was a very interesting area. I really appreciate this geocache bringing me here. TFTC vela1968

We were a bit short on time and transportation today on our TI tour. Drove passed the likely access point but unable to retrieve this one today. 5
LuLuRu14 has some great spidey senses for caches. Beware the green ants! A great historical site to visit. TFTC
Trip to the Tip Tour Day #12
Found on a day when the trade winds were not blowing so hard and on a trail of learning and adventuring with SpectaclesOfRose. It is wonderful to be able to go to places like this and appreciate the past.
Thanks for placing the cache here!
Be aware there is a green ant army living in the area. TYFTC

Enjoyingnour tour of Thursday island, this is an brilliant location and so glad it has a cache. Cache all in good order. Tftc
Found during a trip from Adelaide to the northern tip of Australia. Traveling up solo through central Queensland, I met up with e.gregory1 and a non-cacher friend near Cairns for the rest of the trip northwards, finding caches along the way. We visited Thursday Island for the day, having a great walk around the island and finding its three caches. Thanks for the cache vela1968!
After taking three weeks to meander my way up from Adelaide to Cairns on my own, I met up with FeatherWaite and another friend to head further north to Cape York.
We spent another three weeks travelling up to the tip and back to Cairns, seeing the sights and finding caches along the way.
This cache was found on a day trip over to Thursday Island. Beautiful views from up here!
Thanks vela1968 for the cache.

Finding the cache was little drama except for getting to GZ, as I was concerned about the risk of snakes. Due to the risk of snakes, broken glass, and green ants, a cache here is risky.
As a hint to future cachers, strong footwear is recommended.
The guns themselves are interesting although it's unfortunate that thoughtless people have to scribble their names on them and use them for their Coke cans and chip wrappers. I encourage all visitors to be mindful at this site...

Wasn’t were I was expecting it to be but found it after bush bashing. Daughter used to work on TI several years ago so great to revisit. Thanks
I don’t think I have quite learned how to find the actual caches. I searched for 30 minutes without success. Thank you for bringing me here. The view is commanding and the emplacements impressive.
A quick find while in private tour… we’re given 10 minutes to go and locate this so we are happy.

Yah another find on TI. We walked from cemetery cache uphill.but gps mislead us no track through so back the way we came. Spotted the cannons so knew we were in the right area. Track in overgrown but not too far. Cache in an obvious spot well protected. Thanks and fav point
Lovely place. A bit overgrown. Potential snakes maybe. Definitely lots of mozzies.
Our second trip to the tip. Originally in 1992, car problems prevented up from getting up to TI. This time, there was no stopping us. Amazingly, we WALKED all the way up here, no mean feat for me. This will be my most northern cache find ever, as I have no plans on travelling overseas ever. Yes, our account has some finds in Japan, that was Mrs Bundy who found them.

The mini rats have been away on holidays with the Rats on another fantastic family holiday. We made it all the way to Cape York and along the way we found this cache. Thanks for adding to the thrill of our holiday.

The Rats and mini rats have just returned from an amazing 6-week adventure to Cape York. Along the way we had time to stop and grab a big handful of caches, some of our finds were in the remotest parts of Australia. Thanks to all the cache owners for placing your cache, you've all contributed to us having a great holiday. Apologises for the generic log.
Mnaged to get this cache while everyone was touring the museum.

On a wonderful trip with my friends Muff1 on a trip to the Cape and TI with Cockatours. We had a great day on TI. Revisiting a hoot after having lived here in 1998 and 1999. TFTC
We are currently touring Cape York with Cockatours and today Rossy gets to have a free day away from us all while we go on the Torres Magic (passenger ferry to Thursday Island) followed by a bus tour with Peddell's, the lady tour operator, Sue, gave us a very informative dialogue about the island. Then it was free time for us to wander around and enjoy the feel of the island.
This cache was a little difficult to get to due to the long grass and the vines, but we can assure you the cache is in good condition and we certainly could not be seen by any muggles. SL TFTC

I am so glad that I visited this beautiful island. The war history is so interesting. It is such a pity the barracks were demolished. Cache was found easily in the undergrowth
Our phones were initially a little inaccurate but after a little "stroll" through long grass and vines we were able to locate the container and sign the log. TFTC
Got to spend another day on thursday island as a flight got cancelled. Came up here to check out the views of the island with some of the stormco crew. I went myself through the thick long grass to find the cache. Thanks! This is the most northern cache I have found in australia. Thanks!
Burnt out from recent grassfire - perhaps CO can check condition of cache? Looked under concrete foundations with no obvious container
Found with great difficulty. Lots of time spent looking under lots of foundation. Terrified of snakes the whole time. Recent fire has cleared the grass at least. Amazing lookout nearby. Left 2x LOTR pin and 1x superman pin. Took nothing.
Thanks for the cache. Peace out.

Here in the Thursday Island region for 3 weeks with work. Told to go up and check out the local look out. Amazing views and a history lesson about the war. Beautiful location. Brought the guys from work for the climb and to let them find their first cache. Found with TrishyMay83 and work mates. TFTC
