This is my fourth geocaching excursion to **beautiful New Zealand**!
Due to Covid [xx(] I had to wait for 3 long years to again return to my beloved Middle-Earth [:X].
This time its a road trip enduring for 26 days, covering both North- and South-Island.
Today i strolled around New Plymouth and was happy [:o)] to collect some geo-treasures along the sea-side, including two walk-intensive Labs.
This cache contributed to the finds of today. Cool!
Had already solved the puzzle at home ...
The outdoor part was far more challenging . The hint is bogus !
Without the precious hints from previous finders [:X], I would have been lost on this one!
Anyway, thanks to the owner Southern Augurs for the placement and ongoing maintenance [^]!
Best regards from Germany !

Heading up to New Plymouth with BFG for a weekend out of Wellington.
Solved ages ago, but only just back in the area to collect. Must be getting tired, as we missed the sensible route in for this one! BFG made the find when we got to the correct area.
21 January 2023 19:01 Number 12273 for me. TFTC Southern Augurs for placing this cache for us to find.

Hint wasn’t making sense, but we headed to GZ and I found the cache at the obvious after a short delve off the path… and what would have been a quicker route in Couldn’t see CorybnShotter in log. Thanks Juty Bug!
A quick solve but covid meant it was a while before we could get to New Plymouth. Exploring Brooklands today (memories of WOMAD) and made a slight detour to pick up this. No sign at GZ but a log entry pointed me in the right direction for a quick find. TFTC.
Not often that I get to say the puzzle was easier than locating the cache!! Looked for this twice before without success, phone gps just wouldn't settle and hint objects didn't help reveal the cache either. After reading some previous logs, particularly WEKA's, I was keen to try again. Found myself in the area today, still only with phone though, and thought I'd give it a go. Would have been easier with the etrek I'm sure, but pleased to find a lovely dry logbook. Tftc.
Found with StreetWalkerNZ on ANZAC day, our last full day in New Plymouth.
We made hard work of this cache. I had forgotten that I had made a note on the cache page about the best access, so instead, we went for a long walk, made longer due to taking a wrong turning .
Finally got to GZ, and couldn't find the cache. Read through past logs for to glean any hints and WEKA's log proved very helpful and SW soon found the cache. Phew! TFTC.

#21017. It's a shame we didn't pickup on Troodles' note in the cache as to how best to access the cache, as it would have saved us time and energy in finding our way to GZ from further away. To compound things, when we did get to GZ the last log was a DNF and it looked like we'd end with the same result. Luckily Troodles gleaned some useful info from a past log, and after that I quickly found the cache. Whew! TFTC.
Visiting New Plymouth for the weekend. Nice sunny day to be out caching. Not sure I was in the right place and found the hint pretty non specific. Will watch.
A nice quick find thanks. I may have dnfed here previously, not today though!
Ms_KR and I are on our annual pilgrimage to Auckland for our family Christmas. We spent today between New Plymouth and Stratford, and had good views of Taranaki for alot of the day. Very Nice. Please excuse the generic logs, there have been a few finds and they get muddled up sometimes.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

I am pleased to be able to log this after so long. I solved it a couple of years ago and have searched for it multiple times without success, even with assistance. I grumbled about trees interfering with the GPS and the large number of hint items in the area. Then yesterday I was reviewing local caches that I hadn't found and had the idea to check my coordinates. I had transposed 2 numbers and had been searching about 15m from GZ. Today I searched again with the new target area and after a bit of poking around there it was.
Thanks Juty Bug.

Great puzzle to solve. Signed off while out and about today. Lovely wee wonder in the reserve thx.
Cc came for a sleepover with Soso and asked 'can we go geocaching?' Of course the answer is yes. 2nd find for the day
It's a while since we solved this puzzle, but we don't think it was too difficult. However finding the cache took a little longer as it was difficult to get our GPS to settle. Rather than hidden as per the hint, eventually we found the cache hidden at the base of a tree, about 5 metres south from the track and possibly a few metres northwest of the coordinates. TFTC
A nice quick find, first to sign the new log book. Thanks Southern Augurs

Sorry to earlier cachers checked this out and it was missing, so have replaced container and new log , all good to go
A planned geocaching trip to the USA was shelved (but is all go for this time next year!) so we came up with a weekends Plan B. Taranaki with TheWanglers, KarmaReprint and KiwiMoose - logs signed (TK)^2 or a variation of. A really fun trip with the forecast rain and thunder seemingly always in the distance but never hindering us. A really fun weekend.
Day 2 dawned with a bit of drizzle but that soon cleared (whilst eating breakfast) and we had a lovely trip missing all the bad weather again. Harwea to New Plymouth the long way. Heaps of history; cool scenery and lots of laughs. Cheers all!
No such luck tonight. Maybe overlooked, but maybe MIA.

TeamBOP have come together again for a trip to the Naki. Team BOP consists of myself (obviously), McJandals, Philip.Perry and DavidsonClan.
We decided to take the long way there, via the Forgotten Highway, experiencing the world famous in New Zealand Republic of Whangamomona Day.
After enjoying the light festival and finding a few caches in the gardens, we continued into the night.
Thanks to all the CO's for attracting us to the Taranaki and finally visiting these spectacular gardens.

It was time to assemble Team BOP as I hadn't seen these crazy people since the Mega. The plan was Taranaki via the Forgotten World Highway and we were all pretty excited about it. It was a big couple of days so forgive the cut'n'paste logs as I'm logging retrospectively and a few of the hides are blurring together. TNXPro, McJandals, Davidson Clan & myself signed our logs individually or as TEAM BOP depending on time, log space or mood.
Cache was found quickly and in good condition thanks to good coords and a straight forward placement - Cheers and TFTC

Found using Cachly app and logged using the text template, so please excuse generic logging in advance. On a spur of the moment roadie with Phillip.Perry, TNXPRO and Davidson Clan from the Bay of Plenty, a plan was hatched and here we are. Great to have these places to visit and many thanks to all you COs for the placements. Cheers
In New Plymouth for the weekend with Philip.Perry McJandals and Tnxpro. Signed log Team BOP to save space on log sheets.

After solving the puzzle a couple of years ago and then not being able to find the cache it’s good to finally get it. TFTC
Solved some time ago but today while looking for Giants I was able to knock this one off.
My GPS was all over the place and it took quite a while searching. Eventually I stopped in just the right place to notice it from some three to five meters away so another smiley face for today.

Puzzle was easy but cache took 2 tries at it. Looked in that area first time but on the hint seen, found in other close by. TFTC
We solved this puzzle some months ago and came to make the find while in the area this week. While checking out several hint objects and thinking this was going to be difficult, we looked back and spotted the camoed cache peeking out from its hiding place. The co-ords were good for us and the cache itself in good condition. Thanks Southern Augurs for a straightforward solve and find.
Nice little puzzle, always happy to come across one that we know what to do with. Thanks for the puzzle, and the cache Southern Augurs.
I noticed on my GPS after doing maintenance on a nearby cache for a fellow cacher that I had a solved puzzle nearby. So I set it as the nearest and off did trot. Checking on my GSAK database I had solved this one 5.5 years ago. Thanks for keeping it going.
Cheers for the cache.

Sorry for the generic logs. Thanks to all the CO for the hides, and the adventure
Found with Team Westies (Merlot58, RustyNZ, Rebel98 and Gorby) after attending an event in the park. The rain had stopped, so we set off to find caches in the park. The puzzle was an easy solve, but finding the cache took a little longer. After reading some earlier logs, the cache was soon in hand
I was visiting New Plymouth with a few other Westies from Auckland. A nice easy puzzle to solve, but the find took us a little longer. After reading some previous logs we refocussed our search and soon found the cache
Was down for the weekend with a group of Westies finding caches around New Plymouth. This puzzle was picked as it was the oldest puzzle in the area, so had to solve and find.
I was a little behind the others, so missed all the fun of doing the dance with the GPS
So many potential hiding places, but eventually found by Jag50 and merlot58. A little slippery the approach, not suprising with all the rain. Thank you for bringing us to the special spot.
Another fun solve and find, the log signed Team Westies (merlot58, rustynz, rebel98, Jag50 and Gorby)

In New Plymouth today, our 2nd day of 3 days of adventure with myself, rustynz, Rebel98, Jag50 and merlot58 calling ourselves Team Westies. Can't remember much about the final of this cache, but I was having fun though.
For Everyone's Safety and Pleasure...(Taranaki) was transferred from SouthernAugurs to user Juty Bug
Searched for 20'. Up n down the street. Even clues didn't help. Assuming it is in/on border of private property as there's mot much else around, which feels awkward.
A simple solve but a tricky hide. Hint item deteriorating but we eventually found it on right side within 2mtrs of path as we descended. Tftc
Solved this one a couple weeks ago and had a look around then with the kids without success. Returned on my own and after 15mins of searching found it! TFTC.
Really enjoyed working this mystery out! Took 20mins to locate as gps was all over the place. But find it I did! TFTC
Solved the puzzle during the week as we were coming to New Plymouth. Cache easily spotted at GZ. Thanks for setting up a great puzzle and cache
I decoded the clue easily but the cache wasn't so easy to find. I looked around with my sister for 10 minutes on Saturday and then today I went back myself and still couldn't find it.
Well I was super pleased to find this one today. I had solved it quite some time ago and had searched for it in various locations using the same co-ords I had today. On previous attempts it kept sending me way over near the "Lost Again" Cache and even further past that. Today, I found the correct path (and entrance) and searched for a little bit at some hint items. I glanced over somewhere else and saw something that looked like an old used pipe which I thought was rubbish. After a bit more searching, I looked where I saw the pipe and there it was - nothing like a pipe at all, clearly my eyes were playing tricks on me. I was really happy to find this as I needed to find 3 different cache types on a day so I had my fingers crossed I could find this and I did. TFTC
Found today by Gnome62 because I was being eaten alive by mozzies bigger than flying dinosaurs!!!! Heck of a hunt near and far. Gnome62 was bitten less, must not be so sweet. Left a diamond. Thanks
Yay! Found this one! Happy to worked out the code by myself. And I didn't know this walkway was even here!
Solved this one a ridiculously long time ago, but the opportunity never seemed to arise to make the find - too rainy, to much of a hurry, not near where we're going etc. No excuses today - made a point of knocking this one off.
Took about a 5 minute search & cache was in hand.
Left a pet rock - a lady bug. Thanks for setting this up SouthernAugurs

We had quickly solved this puzzle some months ago. Today we are collecting as many Taranaki puzzles as we can. We did not choose the closest parking for this one but enjoyed the bush walk to GZ. Thanks.
After finding the cache we found a much shorter route out to the road - one of us took this while the other went back to get the van.

Took a wee while to work out the puzzle but then it clicked and I was on my way.
There were a few places I looked first but stuck with it and came up trumps.
Nice container cover.

I looked pretty shady trying to find this cache, and even then still didn't manage to get it. Wilk try again later
Cache # 2,466 - A lovely little puzzle, and expected the find to also be simple. Not so! With Violet Butterfly and Astro Hunter we arrived at the GZ, and then looked at the obvious hint object, with the GPS pointing right at it. No luck. 20 minutes later and numerous locations examined, including up and down the slope, we finally located the elusive cache about 8 metres from where the GPS pointed. TNLNSL. TFTC!
Did today with The Wandering Dragons and Astro Hunter. Swapped a trinket. Thanks!

Found at the end of our kid free time... With just the right amount of time left to collect the kids. Great day tripping round inglewood, bell block and New Plymouth.
on our long holiday to taranaki and back to gisborne, a loop track. anothe niece today with her bf, was good to get them moving.
A great cache , found after some scrabbling around fallen logs and sly rustlings! Was rewarded by a very apPEALing little cow-bell..left Windchill in her place.
Day 2 of the Vamber/KiwiFruitsNZ caching adventure to secure lonely caches, D/T combinations and collect puzzle solves.
Really enjoyed solving the puzzle - especially as I did 90% of it by logic, until Vamber pointed out the key to puzzle! Felt such a fool!!
A quick easy find.

Our second day of our long weekend in the Taranaki, for our little geo-cation with KiwifruitsNZ, which saw us securing some geo-licence requirements, puzzle solves and some few extras.
A puzzle right up our alley!! A quick find at GZ, thanks for the hide!

Great cache! Log book a bit damp! Good clues, TFTC! Found with osbourneroadoddballs.
Cool. Our first puzzle cache that we have found. Today out and about with visser8.
Log book a bit damp but I have dropped a trackable here to surprise the next person.
Great view if the mountain today.

I recognised the images in the puzzle so it was quickly solved at home prior to visiting New Plymouth. I accessed this one via a round a bout route after getting another cache. There were lots of items that could have matched the hint at GZ but I saw a peg on the ground which led me straight to the cache.
An enjoyable puzzle that was quickly solved and today I was able to grab the cache. It's raining a little bit so the canopy is providing great cover for me but played havoc on the gps. Got there in the end with the hint.

Tried a logical way of solving this one with no joy so then I tried an alternative method only to halfway through find that the first method should've worked!
At the site it only took a little bit of searching to find the cache.
At the site it only took a little bit of searching to find the cache.
We had an orienteering event in the area so popped along in the day's last light, having worked out GZ a while ago. Almost ready to give up in the dark when a last desperate search brought the cleverly concealed cache to hand. TFTC.
Located this one by a bit of trial and error and some good deduction by Mrs Disorientated Kiwi. Clues were of little help when GPS is all over the place. Features mentioned in the description and hints were everywhere so ended up searching an area about 20m x 30m and finally came up trumps after a bit of effort. Thanks.
This one was solved before going to NZ. Took a little while to crack, and also took a little while to locate at GZ with GPSrs that were a little out of whack, but we found it eventually
