Due to unforeseen circumstances Mr Smokey Bear will no longer be a part of Team Smokey Bear and will continue his adventures as "SmokeyBearOG".
So I'm relogging all previous finds under my new account.
Unfortunately this log will not show the original logging date.
**Thanks to Team Crackers for this adventure, looking forward to many more.**

Definitely was testing out the Hilux today with the track after recent rains but manged to get to the ridge. Got to the view spot and could see part of the spillway, also got glimpses as I was driving along the track.
Cache was found after checking out the hint. It was dry and in good nick

Decided for a bit of low range for the first time this trip.
Had fun cruising up, then a nice easy find through the prickle plants to the final.
Not really any views today, however the bush over time has a way of doing that!
Thanks Crackers.

When I heard Smokey bear was heading down Moe for the event, a plan was hatched for a dirtbag adventure... and I was excited. Organised a sitter for bubs and with Hunter and team moss, we were off.
I don’t do a lot of 4x4 but I absolutely should. So much fun and so much to be explored. The river crossing was amazing and the steep climb up to the cache made me glad we had such an experienced driver and well equipped vehicle.
An amazing day spent with amazing people and amazing locations.
Can’t wait for the next adventure

While at the event in Moe completing my 3000th geocache, I heard some people taking about an adventure, so I invited myself along. I texted my wife saying that "I'm heading on a Dirtbag adventure and might be home late". I was expected to be home for lunch, and got home just a little late, after 8 pm!!!
Wasn't as much of a view as the first cache in this series, and we tried to get our driver to park right at GZ, so we didn't have to get out, but he insisted. Then it was a short walk thru the prickly plants to find this geocache.
Thanks for the cache Team Crackers
Hunter
PS. I grabbed the Tassie Trekkers pathtag
PPS. 3,003rd geocache

Hadn’t noticed much of a view , I think the undergrowth has stolen some of it
But cache was in good condition still , strange finding a good brand of things nearby , now the story behind them may have been an interesting romp in the bush kinda story
Thanx for the Adventure Stay Dirty ️

A spur of the moment 4x4 and camping weekend with Grinnerz gave us the opportunity to find your cache. A fantastic area to explore on a beautiful summers day.
Trees are obscuring the view but enjoyed the journey to this cache.
Cache and contents in good condition.

Tftc in awesome out of the way spot. Left a travel bug. Thank goodness its only 23 deg today. I'm expending energy plus as it is. At least the GZ for this cache is accurate. Like like like
I felt a bit fatigued by the time I got here, after strolling from the north. These hills shouldn't have taken that much out of me, I remember thinking. Hopefully a relatively inactive winter hasn't whittled away toooo much of my (not so) dazzling Trailwalker form. The cache was found quite quickly here and it was in good condition. I suspect the view of the reservoir is a little more obscured now by foliage, but it remained quite visible. I was interested to see the (physical) log by the previous finder, speaking of the challenge presented by the track leading up from near Aberfeldy River. I was planning to exit that way and was newly concerned. I was right to be concerned--it made for a thoroughly wretched descent! Thank God for hiking poles. Thanks again Team Crackers!
Where do I begin in trying to convey this experience? For some cachers this would be a toddle - those who have a 4x4 or are fit or who regularly went bush in their youth. None of that applies in my case. Think city born and bred, slowly regaining fitness last seen half a decade ago and whose experience of country Victoria has been limited to obvious holiday spots, regional towns and school camps.
So when I say that I targeted this cache late last week and only downloaded the detail to c:geo when I was certain I was attending the nearby birthday event you might be thinking this wasn't going to end well and thankfully you'd be wrong.
However that isn't to say that some choice scenarios weren't flashing through my mind as I left the event at 3.15pm with a slightly uneasy feeling given there was no phone reception in Walhalla and I wanted to be heading the other way before dark. Those scenarios started multiplying as the road quality shifted from paved to wide gravel to single lane gravel to single lane gravel carved from the side of a mountain with a precipitous drop on the other side and increasingly rocky as I got closer to Low Saddle Track.
Then, the scenarios popped out of my head as I looked at what I would be walking/clambering/climbing up right at the start of the track. Talk about discouraging terrain. I was going to earn that T4 rating every little step. Needless to say I consulted c:geo often the first 500m. I wish I had taken the Garmin for a sense of the elevation between Walhalla Rd and GZ because it sure felt more than the largest elevation I had undertaken to date which was some 150m over a number of kms for a Sam Carter cache up a small mountain.
I had seriously thought of giving up a number of times but pressed on and finally made the find at about 4.40pm. The feeling upon finding that cache was similar to the feelings I've experienced skydiving and scuba diving. A real sense of accomplishment and a greater appreciation of what 40kg of weight loss can mean when undertaking this sort of physical exertion. I look forward to finding out what the next 40 will do for my efforts at completing P81 sans a 4x4 or other helpful equipment.
Thanks for putting this challenge out there. Another T4 that I'll always remember.

Nice spot for an alternative view of the dam wall.
Cache still in good condition apart from a dead pen.

Not a serious maintenance issue as most cachers carry a pen.

I headed out early on this fine looking weekend on a solo caching trip to also get some K's under my feet as good practice for the upcoming Trailwalker charity event. I also wanted to pick up some rare difficulty / terrain combos and unloved caches in the area.
Continuing along my loop trek, I had to ford the river, so off with the socks and shoes and barefooted it across the sharp rocks on the river bed. I must say it was quite pleasant in the heat to walk through the water. anyway, I plodded on, heading for GZ and a nice quick find once there.
Thanks again to Team Crackers for the cache. TNLN

@ 8.30am Cache #782
We were camped at Coppers Creek campground on a Tyre tubbing/ rafting weekend down the Thomson River. Not much time for Geocaching so had to get up quite early to grab a few while the rest of the team slept in
The Holden wagon got me as far as Aberfedy campground, and then it was on to the auxiliary vehicle the “MTB” Well there was not much peddle power happing on the way up… Low Saddle track but sure had fun riding over to the nearby “Misplaced cache” and back, then the ride back down to the car was a bloody ripper. Heart stopping stuff
Thx Team Crackers sure do love this type of Caching, one cache like this one is worth 100 ridiculous puzzle caches (In my books anyway)
Cheers

Another great location. One of our eight caches in the area for the weekend. Thanks, Tony and John.

After a nice breakfast I walked up here - I didn't dare to drive the Low Saddle Track with the Xtrail but the bit of cardio can't hurt. Anyway: I found an Xtrail track to the cache after all - http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=1081102

Found at 10:34. Well after starting at the bottom of low saddle track we got to the river crossing. Stopping to assess it I ditched the boots and zipped off my legs then waded into the water. MMM a little deep here but halfway through it got shallower as you got onto some large slab rocks. The water was moving a bit fast but I could still stand in it so decided to give it a crack. There was no real problems crossing but I am glad I had the snorkel fitted a few weeks ago.
Once across Thompson we proceeded up to the cache. We had 2 other vehicles that followed us (that we met at the Rawson caravan park) who had never heard of caching so they got a bit of a surprise when I wandered out of the bush with the container in hand.
Log book signed and cache replaced we went on our way to find the one on Beardmores Track.
Found with Cache-eyes
No swaps today

#279 Found at 1.20pm. A nice view of the dam from here however it took a bit to scramble up from Santa's Rum Place (Dad left the clutch back there!). GeoPrincess tried to do a quick rest stop but wherever she tried to "rest" the bees seemed to follow her. Finally she managed to finalise her rest stop but then beat a hasty retreat to the GeoTriton.

We had intended trying for this trio of caches just after they were posted, but things transpired to prevent us from getting here until today (bushfires included). Anyway, the driver amongst us looked at the map and decided to tackle this one before the other two, so although it was our third find for the day, it was the first of this trio. This cache provides a nice high view of the dam and it's in a lovely peaceful spot. We just wished we had packed the billy!! Left a Yarragon bakery business card (where we stopped on the way in for pies and cakes), took nothing. TFTC
Found at 12.30pm.

Have been looking at this one since it was created. Have not been up to this area in some years and this was a good excuse. After following motorbikes up the hill in a cloud of dust from the river, had to pass them as one fell off. No damage done except to ego.
An interesting spot to view the damage of previous fires and to see how much water is not in the dam.
Good to see a well stocked cache with a blank book.
On the way out we crossed paths with a fire truck doing spot checks after a small fire in the area yesterday. Makes you stop and think...
