This cache was placed the year I began caching. Although I started in December. This has been on my to do list since... Well I finally made it. We had to go to Auckland to check out a couch we are looking at buying a three Whangarei site didn't have one... so of to Manukau... The closest place to try before we buy as the special finishes on Monday. So on the way home we pulled over and made the grab. Really easy. Though never got around to doing it. Though I managed to find it before my 6th Geocaching year. Favorite point for one of my longest too do list finds.
Well, i know where this one is now. Been thinking this spot would be nice for a geocache for a very long time, lo and behold there is one... lol, This has been on my to do list for as long as well, since I started caching, just as Salty said too, lol. One I need to find on my next trip South.
Solved but overshot the turn-off for the final so will have to come back sometime to finish off.
FINALLY got there!!! LOL . This was such a quick and easy multi that has been on the list far too long.... one of the few originally available when I 1st started caching... today was finally the day & now I get a special souvenir too - Thanks!!
A quick find on the way up north. Although involved some muddy climbing on the way

A nice easy multi found while on a caching run up north with funkymunkyzone. The headlamp under review got some exercise reading monumental text. Some pretty cushy grass apporaching GZ, and a nice wee spot for the hide.
Thanks!
Thanks!
A great little multi to help break up the drive up North. All clues easily sorted, and the find was made quickly. Thanks for the hide!
Heading north today we came across this little multi. It is a perfect northwards driving multi The clues and the box were easy finds. TFTC (#9544)
Nice little multi and very good to know in which direction it's going, very helpful if you are traveling somewhere (without having to backtrack for the final).

Found with Corikra this is a nice little multi that us well hidden. I really enjoyed this cache.

#6157. One of the few multis we found on our 15 day mega-trip (quite possibly this was the only one we found!). An appropriate cache for the last of a day spent travelling from Te Awamutu to Whangarei. TFTC.
A nice straightforward multi and the last find of a long day. And no, we weren't quite there yet...
TFTC.

Collected the info a few years ago when heading out west. Heading in a different direction today so stopped in and made a quick find. Grass heading to GZ was very long so got back to the car very wet after negotiating the early morning dew. TFTMC.
Did the maths for this one last time I was here, and after having no luck finding the cache realised I had made a mistake with the maths. So gave up to try again another day.
I thought I had loaded up the correct coords but I hadn't updated them from last time, so had to use my memory to and the hint to locate the cache. Caching gods were with me and managed to locate the cache with a 20 min search.
Thanks for the multi.

#430 Thanks for the multi- always nice to learn a bit more history and stop at a spot I wouldn't have noticed otherwise. Loved the final hide- very snug and safe. TFTC. Log was a tad damp.
Was heading north to Whangarei with my sister tikitour and stopped here to finish the answers to find the final. She had started it a while ago, so I was there to help check the numbers and to find the cache. Was an interesting cache, thanks.
Had done the first stage of this cache ages ago and hadn't got to the final....managed to get there today on our way home. Nice quick find. TFTC
Some interesting history here. After having muddled up my maths a few days ago it was good to get this one sorted on our way ack to Auckland.

I did the maths on my way north and also went close to GZ but there was a car parked there with some people not looking like they would leave soon. So I continued on my way and today when I went back south I remembered the place while approaching and made a quick stop here. No one around this time so I got lost in the high grass and found the box in good condition.
Thanks for the cache!

Nice easy cache. First of the day on the best of a showery week. First time I've used the turn-by-turn navigation on my phone - that's rather fun. -TB and Milhouse +snake and dinosaur TFTC
Grabbed today after having solved previously. Cache in good order. Learnt some NZ history in the process. T4TC!
Grabbed the information ages ago but didn't have the time or daylight then.Found cache easily today , glad to finally tick this one off.TFTC.
Did the numbers a couple of years ago, but missed the spot to turn and too dangerous on the return journey, so have had this sitting in the file waiting for a return trip north to complete. Today was the day. Very over grown to get to GZ, but we persevered and got there. -TB will move it along. SL. TFTC.
After doing all the computational work back in mid-February to get the final coords this was the first opportunity to head back north.
After pulling into the large parking area I headed straight to the GZ but couldn't find the cache. I even widened my search but all to no avail. Stopped and checked the GPS and headed back to the GZ when DUH, I had searched all around it before.
In: TB.
Cheers for the cache.

Ok so cache is all fixed but I now need to go back and get the coords for the final. My gps had a hiccup and i have lost the coords and the list of all the caches I found on my recent north island trip
Hadn't realised this was disabled until now. The first step was easy, finding the cache hard. Recent logging operations in the area, has meant trees up to GZ have been removed and a lot of the natural bush damaged! Found after 1/2 hour searching, as tree now slightly flattened. Cache needs maintenance, removed everything and tried to dry it best as I could and put slightly damp log book in plastic bag. Happy to adopt if necessary to keep this cache going as it is near my patch! (I was going to place my own cache there but then found this one within 35m so removed my one!)
4027 Nice multi, last find in the pitch dark. Finally found once pushed through to the other side. TFTC
28-03 8th find of the day at 10:20 and 1259th find in total.
No problem with the calculations, the drive to the cache, the parking or finding the cache but when we got the container open it was full to the brim with water. We emptied it out and tried to sign the log with no luck. Will add some pictures of the condition of the cache as proof to log.
(''\(OoO)/'') Thanks Pooke for the caching fun!

Took a while to "get there" after a slight mathematical error! Interesting location for final. TFTC
Was heading North with TF to complete the Driving A-Z series. Decided that this would be the only multi for the day. Parked the geo vehicle next too the monument and worked out the final from the comfort of the car. Pleasant stroll to GZ. TFTC
Quick cache on our way home after Labour Weekend. We found the coordinates to be spot on.
Yeah we were here today. Good look about in the rain and cache in hand soon after.TFTF Off to the next one.
We collected the information from, the plaque, and then got trapped by a bus parking outside the cafe.
This should have been an omen for us!
We got to GZ, and plunged into the trees. At this point the GPSr decided not to play, so we consulted the clue.
Eventually found.
Thanks, Robmc.

This multi was easily started but not so easily finished.
When we arrived at GZ the final hiding spot just seemed so unlikely tha we checked a lot of
other places first. In the end we trusted the coords and the clue was read correctly this time and we
got lucky with a cache find.
Thanks

The initial waypoint was an easy find. Solved puzzle for waypoint 2 over a cuppa in the cafe. However, when it came to the 'crunch' our GPS had us with 20m still to go at the edge of the tree line. It never gives us a signal in heavy bush. After a lot of 'needle in haystack' stuff, we decided a further hint was required and will follow up with Pooke and have a second attempt.

Did the initial part on way up North last week but turned off before we could complete it. Bit dodgy pulling over while driving South but eventually found it. TFTC
Found with DeadRockFlower and 2 wee bucks. Not the best time for caching in the bush, as per DeadRockFlower's post. TFTC.
After doing the first part of this about a month ago on a trip south we never managed to coming down the hill in daylight, so after a lovely meal at the Waipu Pizza Barn we decided to make a detour on dusk to finally get the cache. Note to self, dusk in the open does not mean dusk in the bush! After slipping and crashing our way up the hill in very unsuitable attire we were about to give up and take the tired and increasingly paniced wee bucks home when I spotted it! Wahoo, it was all worth it! Left Wandering Kiwi TB.
Decided to try this one again before Pooke moved it. Had the co-ords from our last attempt, plenty of daylight left, dry underfoot and the realisation that we needed to get through that band of trees. Almost gave up when suddenly the GPS offered a new direction and there it was ...easy!!! Lucky 13th for the day!
Solved the puzzle going North. Found the cache going south. Interesting monument. TFTC
My calculated position looked good on the map, but I had my doubts when getting closer. Pushed on to a likely area and GZ bang on. T4TC - M@
Start of a good days caching, no problems at the memorial but took a wee while to zero in on the final. Long grass and me don't usually go too well together at this time of year, but escaped without too much allergic reaction.

This cache is still there but I dont like the location of the final anymore. I will be moving the final in the next few weeks and will redo the clue and relist as a new cache.
#53 after the maths was done I was sure that I knew where it would be but was surprised when we continued passed and ended up somewhere else. took a long time to find as i did not go far enough and spent a long time in the forest, finally made it through and in the open country the gps got a good lock again and sent me to the right location. TFTC.
We found out the coordinates but didn't find the cache. GPS receipt was very bad and the high grass made allergic coryza to Miss Resari.
Found on our way up to Whangerei today to buy a red convertable.
No probs at wp1, took a bit of time to find my way to gz, but got there in the end.

The first waypoint is familiar territory for us, as it marks the turnoff to Maungaturoto, and a relative's farm. Despite having driven past here many many times, and even having stopped here quite frequently, we don't recall ever having read the plaques on the monument before. Did so this time, got the reqired info, and headed up over the Brynderwyns. No trouble finding GZ or the cache. Thanks for this multi.

Interesting read at the plaque. I know very little about that particular person.
Took a bit of a roundabout route to the cache and ended up struggling through waist deep grass lol.
Many thanks

Team Leader thought this was unlucky 13 for the weekend but on a recount it was only 12. So these were the excuses (in no particular order). It was getting dark! It was very muddy! The GPS couldn't find the ...for the woods! Maybe we were in the wrong place?
Good views and a nice park. Watch your step near GZ though! TFTC

TFTC, no problems at all with this one. The girls stayed and boiled up a brew on the side of the road and the guys headed off and were back before the water had boiled.
2583. We had a bit of help to make sure we got to the end of this before dark. Once we were in the right place then it was a quick find - and yes - we were nearly there - back to base for tea and packing up for our trip to the Far North over the next few days.
Thanks

6.00pm. Thought this would be a breeze before dark. But no. Got the information, debated one interpretation. Took off, parked, walked. Came to a steep drop. Light fading. Gave up for another day. Not the simple multi we had anticipated.

Thank you. David.
Attempted this one on the way home from caving with Rumo & Rala. We thought were in the wrong place so the girls lounged in the car while the boys braved wading through the vegetation. After awhile, the girls started wondering if the guys had gotten lost when a few manly yells and some tumbles later, the boys popped out of the long grass claiming the find!
No, we were not there yet, but at least closer to home. After some confusion with the GPSr, we discovered GZ while drowning in the deep grass. Walking up to the highest point of the hill to enjoy the view wasn't improving the situation - the grass got even deeper there. What an experience.

Yeah, 3rd TF. Nice spot. It took a while till the GPSr was settled, by that time I was walking between the phggm tenf.
Still puzzled by the extra 50 cents I had to pay because it was a take away coffee!
Thanks Pooke, its good to have some extra caches down this road http://coord.info/GC1JF6C Gives you something to do on the way North (or South)

was there when it got place but did not log as did not think it would be fair to others. Did go find it again with Grobyc at 11pm at nite after a long day caching. TFTC
Found at 11pm at night but not a FTF Logbook was already signed, Probablly not the best time to try finding a cache in the bush but was found quickly never the less. Had to return a 2nd time after realising the GPS was still beside the cache when I got back to the car. DOH!.
Found in the early morning while travelling north. A nice little multi-cache and bush bash to break up the journey.

Do we claim a first to not find? Had two attempts today. First with young grandkids so pulled out when having to enter the bush. Back late afternoon with two adults and a youngster with still no success. The closest we got was 35metres before descending the steep gully. Tried all the items specified in the hint, that we could reach. Think something is wrong with the coords. Can you let us know please? Thank you. David.
